There are some previously hidden inventions (patents) that are scheduled to be released to the general public in the near future, that will COMPLETELY revolutionize the medical - Health care industry and lower the cost to a very affordable level for everyone! I believe that you and I do have the same goals, at least for excellent, affordable, and accessible healthcare for ALL Americans, so I hope that you are encouraged. The changes that I and many others see coming will of course eventually go worldwide as well! Sweden's system is unsustainable and will fall as well! It was embarrassing last week when my grandson and his girlfriend came to visit. She is from upstate New York. They did not stop and shop in this town, they did not go out to a nice restaurant, they drove through town because they didn’t feel safe.
Where did they go and spend their money, La Push and Forks.
The girlfriend could not believe all the drug usage and homeless. This was her first time in Washington state, she commented on how beautiful our state is with the lush green trees. They traveled all over our state but was appalled at Clallam County (Port Angeles)
These NGO’s need to get no more money from our taxpayer dollars through our government. Make them earn their own money by charity and people giving like 4PA does, not by our taxpayer dollars.

@Susie Blake Exactly—that's the core dilemma. But pointing out the dependency doesn't win their votes. To get Jake elected so he can actually fix this balance, we have to show public and non-profit employees that better fiscal management protects the community's financial baseline, rather than threatening the people doing the real work on the ground. Right? Thoughts and Ideas? I know it may seem "obvious" to those already voting for Jake, but we need those on the fence to win this campaign.

That is what we will address, which I think will clear up a lot of confusion about what Jake actually can or can’t do, by law, as a county commissioner. The more I’m researching, the more it seems to me many people may not know the legal powers of a county commissioner and they could be misinformed as to how the position works, understandably.
I’ll add the resources/links you gave into the article too. These are great questions and concerns, and I’m learning a lot. I don’t think it’s so much about what Jake says he wants to do, which I agree with his platform, but it’s really understanding what is legally allowed of a county commissioner and someone with oversight of any advisory boards, especially when he is one of three commissioners.

Actually I disagree with Mike bringing in the federal dollars and sitting on his hands when it comes to what Jake describes as our need for "organic growth." The latter is resilient to political winds, the former has no plans other than to hope for another grant which as has been described was an immense longshot.

When I sold my house that I lived in for 32 years in Fairwood King County I had to pay them 15k in excise tax for the sale. Property taxes for 32 years and then more to move.

Try as we might genetic diversity provides that some born into their environment will flourish and others will not. Another way of saying homelessness, along with many other maladies, is inevitable. I needed to replace three very old ceiling fans in my house. The electrical company gave me an estimate which I thought was outrageous. Looking at the breakdown, a permit fee of $119 to replace each ceiling fan. That was more than the three fans. I said no thank you and still got it done. Back in the day I understand a Brit's only choices for radio and television programming were what the BBC decided to provide. In the late 60s this gave rise to "pirate radio stations" based on rusty hulks just offshore that provided the rock and roll and other pop music that young Britons craved. The government tried to shut them down but they found ways around the restrictions. Don't know what the options are today.
The NHS provides some care for everybody for basically no charge. If you are willing to wait. If you don't have the time but do have the money, there are private doctors who will see you.
I am guessing every nationalized health service has a workaround. I know for a fact that Canadians were and probably still are crossing the border to seek care in the US, paying cash rather than waiting months to be seen.
Coverage for illegals visiting the ER was the first step in extending coverage to foreigners. Because of EMTALA, no one could be turned away from the ER. The patient would get treated and often leave without paying their bill. Hospitals, especially in border areas, were taking a big hit to serve this population. Of course, it just meant that those who did pay, either cash, through regular insurance or through taxes, were picking up the tab.
My options are today are that at the almost 1,000 a year increase in property taxes on a house that i own i had better get my ass up super early and get Seattle to get a wage that matches my years of experience in the business while I still can while i work on a future plan.

There are some previously hidden inventions (patents) that are scheduled to be released to the general public in the near future, that will COMPLETELY revolutionize the medical - Health care industry and lower the cost to a very affordable level for everyone! I believe that you and I do have the same goals, at least for excellent, affordable, and accessible healthcare for ALL Americans, so I hope that you are encouraged. The changes that I and many others see coming will of course eventually go worldwide as well! Sweden's system is unsustainable and will fall as well! It has been reported that some 40 countries have already signed agreements along these lines. It is not a "Constitutionally correct" issue; however, I/we here would be absolutely thrilled if the emerging "patient first" healthcare model does unfold the way that we believe it will. It was embarrassing last week when my grandson and his girlfriend came to visit. She is from upstate New York. They did not stop and shop in this town, they did not go out to a nice restaurant, they drove through town because they didn’t feel safe.
Where did they go and spend their money, La Push and Forks.
The girlfriend could not believe all the drug usage and homeless. This was her first time in Washington state, she commented on how beautiful our state is with the lush green trees. They traveled all over our state but was appalled at Clallam County (Port Angeles)

When talking to folks, I’ve been framing it like this: Commissioner French deserves credit for securing federal funding for our county, but you are the candidate with the right skills to actually manage it. When people ask, 'If French did a good job getting the money, why change leadership?' I point out your professional and technical background. You understand the policy levers necessary to deliver the visible outcomes we all want: cleaner public spaces, private-sector job creation, and genuine representation for the taxpayers funding these initiatives.
However, I do run into one major hurdle, and I'd love your thoughts: a significant portion of our voting base is employed by NGOs, non-profits, or local government. How do we best reassure these voters that electing you to bring accountability won't negatively impact their livelihoods or paychecks?

To get Jake elected so he can actually fix this balance, we have to show public and non-profit employees that better fiscal management protects the community's financial baseline, rather than threatening the people doing the real work on the ground. That is what we will address, which I think will clear up a lot of confusion about what Jake actually can or can’t do, by law, as a county commissioner. The more I’m researching, the more it seems to me many people may not know the legal powers of a county commissioner and they could be misinformed as to how the position works, understandably.

I don’t think it’s so much about what Jake says he wants to do, which I agree with his platform, but it’s really understanding what is legally allowed of a county commissioner and someone with oversight of any advisory boards, especially when he is one of three commissioners.

Actually I disagree with Mike bringing in the federal dollars and sitting on his hands when it comes to what Jake describes as our need for "organic growth." The latter is resilient to political winds, the former has no plans other than to hope for another grant which as has been described was an immense longshot.

Why doesnt JST-JKT (tribal drug rehab) clinic build a huge, sweet, tiny house, or muliple -floored temporary living quarters on site at the campus for its addiction clients to use while in the methadone program. Make it free to all clients. Bring them in, house and feed them, give them tents or small shacks to live in, While getting sober/clean. Common, dear Native caregivers its your obligation to help the community and protect the clients who supply you with $4000/day income, so far. They could then be on time for their doses. Or, better yet, build an RV park right there on your campus for those who have an RV but nowhere to park it and try to get clean at your program. You wouldnt have to get all the permits non-tribals do. Extra income too. Yeah for you!

And, when we put our home up for sale due to high property taxes, some rich liberal will buy it and bring their radical views. Property taxes are pricing out the retired middle class here in Clallam. Rich, white, liberals are taking over.
And don't forget about the excise tax (REET) we are charged when we sell our home in this state. It is now graduated based on the selling price and it is not a minor amount, a big chunk out of any profits one hopes for.
When I sold my house that I lived in for 32 years in Fairwood King County I had to pay them 15k in excise tax for the sale. Property taxes for 32 years and then more to move.

Jake this is good stuff BUT please don’t refer to the Clallam County transit bus rides as “free.” They are subsidized rides paid for by the taxpayer. The riders may not pay, but the rest of us certainly do. Just like we pay for the rest of the subsidized services scams.
Try as we might genetic diversity provides that some born into their environment will flourish and others will not. Another way of saying homelessness, along with many other maladies, is inevitable. Compassion and helping others is laudable, but it is not what we constructed Government for. Government exists for infrastructure, safety and opportunity. Harm reduction takes the results of the choices people make away from them. Also taking from them the learning that might have caused their rehabilitation. Put another way, we take money from a healthy and productive citizen and then spend that money to support an addicts addition. A bit off topic, but cancer research, as example, is a behemoth of an industry in and of itself. It consists of huge office buildings full of costly equipment and employees most anywhere you go. Yet we still have cancer with people dying from cancer daily. We have had flu vaccines for over 100 years now and we still have flu. We have harm reduction and we still have harm. When you feed Pigeons you get more Pigeons. The more we support and culture homelessness and addiction, the more of it we get. We must get Government back to the basics and let society deal with society.

Next week I have to pay the city almost $400.00 for a permit to repair our roof, which may lead to replacement. We are maintaining our home so the value will be there in order to pay more property taxes.

I needed to replace three very old ceiling fans in my house. The electrical company gave me an estimate which I thought was outrageous. Looking at the breakdown, a permit fee of $119 to replace each ceiling fan. That was more than the three fans. I said no thank you and still got it done. Seriously....a permit fee to replace a ceiling fan?? What is next?

The NHS provides some care for everybody for basically no charge. If you are willing to wait. If you don't have the time but do have the money, there are private doctors who will see you.

I am guessing every nationalized health service has a workaround. I know for a fact that Canadians were and probably still are crossing the border to seek care in the US, paying cash rather than waiting months to be seen.
Coverage for illegals visiting the ER was the first step in extending coverage to foreigners. Because of EMTALA, no one could be turned away from the ER. The patient would get treated and often leave without paying their bill. Hospitals, especially in border areas, were taking a big hit to serve this population. Of course, it just meant that those who did pay, either cash, through regular insurance or through taxes, were picking up the tab.

If I could visualize a town that I would wish Sequim to emulate the model would be either Sun Valley, Jackson Hole or Aspen. If the goal our leaders have chosen is to invite into our community dope-heads and vagabonds then the model must be either Fife or Tukwila. I hate the concept of "affordable housing" because it implies that housing is not affordable. The market should decide the price not a government agency. I moved to Sequim because I could not afford beachfront property in Malibu. If I wished to live inside an expensive area should a taxpayer subsidize my motivation?
