NGOs are often “non-profit, non-partisan” (snicker) and rely on fundraising to pay for operations, advocacy and advertising. Visibility is at a premium, and what better way to get it free than being featured in a story? Journalism, in Clallam County, follows the money.
Good journalists or watchdog groups know who funds NGO’s they cite and what the organizations’ political leanings are, and they tell their readers as much. So far, only a few watchdog groups do this, the local journalist (maybe) lightly touch on the two sided perspective.
At most advocacy organizations, birds of a feather flock together. We are feeding and paying the bills for these homing pigeons.
