The commissioners did not respond to yesterday's question asking why the Recompete grant should be seen as an investment in economic development and not just a funding mechanism for connected NGOs. Here is today's email sent to the League of Women Voters at info@lwvcla.org:
Dear League of Women Voters,
I recently spoke with a member of your leadership who shared that your organization welcomes submissions of community events to be included on your website calendar as part of your commitment to nonpartisan civic engagement. She encouraged me to pass along any relevant events.
With that in mind, I’ve attached information about an upcoming public safety town hall in April hosted by the Calico Cat Social Club. The event will feature a range of elected and appointed community leaders who have agreed to participate.
As you know, open dialogue and public engagement are essential to a healthy democracy. Thank you for the role you play in supporting that effort.

So much red meat this morning, Jeff. But what grabbed me right away was the CCD vote. How can there be true oversight when the observers are not allowed in the same room as the counters? The way the entire process has unfolded, with ballots only sent to those who request them without the entire populace served notified this was the case, is total and complete BS. And the LWV should not be allowed to be the counters since they have skin in the game after endorsing specific one candidate. If they had any class and sense of true civic duty, they would recuse themselves. As Stalin so famously said, "The people who cast the votes don't decide an election, the people who count the votes do."
And don't get me started on the school district and the LWV fearmongering about ICE ...
Good morning Jeff, It's truly disturbing what the school system has become. I really liked how you finished the articles today . Reminding all of us that free speech is on the line and School boards and local papers want no part of it. All in alignment for them or silence.
Incredibly sad and disappointing that our school district is failing at their charge to educate our young, yet they are expanding the curriculum to include political activism. Teaching our kids political activism when they are too young to vote ? The obvious problem is what political path should our youth follow. As example, anti-ICE protestors do not comprehend that ICE officers are not the problem. ICE officers' have been hired, via our taxes, to enforce our immigration laws. They are doing exactly what we are paying them to do; AKA their jobs. You don't shoot the messenger. Also important to note millions of "peaceful" demonstrators across the nation have been, are and will be safe. Demonstrators who force themselves upon officers doing their jobs are committing suicide by law enforcement. If the demonstrators want more illegal immigrants, they should be lobbying and demonstrating in front of their political representatives that can change the laws the demonstrators do not like. Better yet, vote for political representatives that support their desires. The win / win for anti-ICE and No Kings demonstrators and our country is for them to go find a country more to their liking. Iran maybe.
Lucia Grayson Fletcher has been watching to many cartoons. Goofy paranoid DOB. No kid is going to be dragged out of school by an ICE agent unless he’s got a rap sheet. Worst of the worse first dummy. If this kid is raping, stealing and gang banging, common sense tells me he’s NOT going to be sitting in a classroom. Get a grip honey. The schools have bigger problems. But a liberal would response, “How would you know? You don’t have any kids in school”. True. But I do have common sense.
Just ask them to do addition, spelling, or reading. No can do without their cell phones. Remember how we could remember phone numbers, addresses, dates? All gone.

Grants Available to Bring Indigenous Tourism to Forest Service Lands
“...THE IMPORTANCE OF FUNDING FLOWING DIRECTLY TO TRIBAL COMMUNITIES... TRIBAL COMMUNITIES KNOW BEST WHAT IS NEEDED...”
By Native News Online March 17, 2026
The American Indigenous Tourism Association (AIT) and the U.S. Forest Service have opened applications for the FY 2026 NATIVE Act Grant, offering up to $50,000 to Tribal Nations, Tribal Enterprises, and Indigenous nonprofits working at the intersection of cultural heritage and public lands.
The grants are issued under the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience (NATIVE) Act, FEDERAL LEGISTLATION AIMED AT EXPANDING INDIGENOUS-LED TOURISM, interpretation, and recreation on AND NEAR federally managed lands. AIT — the only national organization dedicated to advancing cultural heritage tourism across Native Nations and communities — has partnered with the Forest Service since 2018, when the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on NATIVE Act activities. A formal partnership agreement to distribute grant funding followed in 2022.
To be ELIGIBLE, applicants must be Tribal Nations, Tribal organizations, or Indigenous nonprofits that border or have historic ties to U.S. Forest Service managed lands. Funded projects must support cultural tourism, interpretation, or recreation initiatives consistent with the purposes of the NATIVE Act. All applications are due May 1, 2026, with projects required to be completed by May 1, 2027. Final reports are due no later than May 31, 2027; no deadline extensions will be granted.
Toby Bloom, the Forest Service’s National Program Manager for Travel, Tourism and Interpretation, noted that the agency manages 193 MILLION ACRES OF PUBLIC LANDS — virtually all of which are Traditional Homelands, sacred sites, or treaty lands STEWARDED BY TRIBES FOR CENTURIES. The Forest Service welcomes 168 million recreation visitors annually, making it a natural partner for expanding Indigenous cultural tourism.
AIT CEO Sherry L. Rupert (Paiute/Washoe) emphasized the importance of FUNDING FLOWING DIRECTLY TO TRIBAL COMMUNITIES. “TRIBAL COMMUNITIES KNOW BEST WHAT IS NEEDED and how to implement projects that honor their culture, support their economies, and benefit their people,” she said in a press release.
They demand to be a “sovereign nation” yet demand oodles of American tax money for projects that primarily benefit themselves, not society in general, and of which they contribute nada. Please make sense of this to me.
Landback: 600 Acres Return to Indigenous Stewardship in the Adirondacks

Schiff, Padilla introduce bill to place 860 acres into trust for Pechanga Band of Indians
Native New Online March 13, 2026 A pair of California lawmakers have introduced legislation that would place 860 acres of FEDERAL LAND into trust for the Pechanga Band of Indians, advancing a long‑running effort to protect sites tied to the TRIBE’S HISTORY and STEWARDSHIP WORK.
There are many benefits to trust acquisitions for tribes.
The use of trust land is governed by tribes and generally not subject to state laws, though certain federal restrictions still apply. Many federal programs and services are also available only on trust lands.
Tribes may benefit from:
• New Market Tax Credits
• Indian Employment Tax Credits
• Tax-Exempt Financing
• Discounted Leasing Rates
• Federal Contracting Preferences
• Foreign Trade Zone Customs Duty Deferral, Elimination or Reduction
• State/County Land Use Exemption
• Accelerated Depreciation for Business Property on Indian Reservations
These benefits have allowed tribes to enhance housing opportunities for their members, realize the energy development capacity on their lands, negotiate the use and sale of the natural resources, and protect tribal ways of life including subsistence hunting and agriculture.

Land Acknowledgement: Jefferson Land Trust acknowledges that the lands we work to preserve are within the traditional Indigenous tribal lands of the S’Klallam, Chemakum, Twana, Suquamish and other Indigenous peoples. These Indigenous peoples are the original stewards of these lands and waters, since time immemorial. Jefferson Land Trust RECOGNIZES THAT EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN COLONIZATION IRREVOCABLY CHANGED THE HOMELAND AND ECOSYSTEM OF THE TRIBES, EFFECTIVELY DESTROYING TRADITIONAL LAND ACCESS AND WAYS OF LIFE. We also recognize that the current system of land ownership and private conservation that we operate within has created, and continues to create, negative impacts on many marginalized communities. Working in conjunction with local Indigenous peoples and marginalized communities, Jefferson Land Trust will recognize this immeasurable disruption and we will strive to lessen the negative impacts of our work, creating a future wherein we seek to deepen our partnerships together and create positive change.
Susie, I don't know, but here is a paragraph in your article that mentions Bear Creek in Clallam County. I need to look that up on google maps.
The list of service reductions includes sites that are either operationally expensive to maintain due to volume of use, longer travel distances for limited staff, or sites that will be impacted regardless due to capacity constraints caused by storm damage. Access reductions could range from full closures of campgrounds like BEAR CREEK (CLALLAM COUNTY) and Chopaka Lake Campground (Okanogan County), and service reductions at Snoqualmie area trails and Reiter Foothills State Forest.

You know my heart gets going when it comes to our littles, for they will gain knowledge and become our future.
If the NGO's want to step into the limelight, and assist in MOLDING young minds, then there needs to be an "accountability" button.
We do have a say in everything that happens in our county and school buildings.
I encourage all who are reading this, grandparents, aunts, uncles & parents... get in there!
Seriously.
Put a pot-roast in the crock pot and get to the meetings or join via Zoom.
I asked the County Commissioners yesterday, "Which one of you sits on the School board?"
The answer was from Mike French.
He stated "NONE of US".
I then asked, "WHY NOT?".
His reply,
"State Law".
Sorry Mike, wrong answer.
This is a false statement made by him.

We let the League of Woman voters shape the minds of our youth, while implementing a "thought" of discourse.
Fear.
Fear.
Can I go in and speak "life" into them?
Can I go in and speak "faith" into them?
Can I go in and speak to them about my personal battle with Sobriety?
Can I go in and teach them CIVICS?
Can I go in and teach them about budgeting?
Where is the solution for League of Woman voters. ?
Indivisible Sequim??
I believe they spread Fear and hate. (today)
They hate Trump,
They hate this....
Name callers.
Old, bored people? or were they once helpful in shaping young minds?
I will lean on the later...
I once belonged to the democratic party.
I worked on a Carter campaign in Vegas.
I was a woman who attended NOW meetings.
"National Organization of Women".
I was a grand member of "Drinking Liberally".
bla bla bla baarf.
So, we can all use our experience, strength and hope for our county.
Take YOUR experience and make it count!
On another note Jeff,
I *caught in the Health Agenda minutes from Tuesdays Health meeting, that MIKE FRENCH has accepted his nomination for another term on this board.
So, the chances of him running another term in the County... pretty good ya?
The CCEDC (Clallam County Economic Development Council) met today.
I asked in the chat:
Question:
Does the CCEDC recognize that NGO's & Tribal Land removed from the Tax base, is a huge deficit for the Tax Revenue for the County?
Colleen responded privately:
Teresa, I agree with you.
The board however, has not taken a stance of this.
(Don't quote me, word for word... I forgot to save this response and the meeting ended abruptly)
Anyway, Senator Mike Chapman knows we are broke.
Much funding has been cut off!
Great community engagement and questions in the chat today.
Please take a look at the Sequim City plan and the Comprehensive plan.
Sequim and Pa are being completely changed.
The flood plans are changing... citizens are being forced to move inland.
Not just the white people... right?
Not just 3 crabs.
The Quinault Tribe was force to move inland.
The Hoquiam High School in Grays Harbor needs to be rebuilt (moved to another location) the fact is was built a few yards away from the ocean.
Thank you for all of your time going to several meetings a week. It's a lot! I agree with you about the fear. Students are being taught to fear COVID, people who aren't vaccinated, people who support our Constitution, and now ICE. Fear is the enemy of good. We need to teach them faith and self-confidence in themselves and that they can succeed and lead a happy life.
Denise, the Covid thing affected my family significantly. It divided the family into Pro and against Covid vaccinations. We are still divided. Before Covid we were a family.
The ones who got the vaccinations still defend it, IMO because they can't undo what they did. The only difference is that now we get together whether we had the vaccine or not. WTF? But the resentments remain because we lost 2 years of fighting over, as FDR said, "Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself"
Repeat, repeat after me. Beware of Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. Another repeat is from history. We have had people we had trusted and been sadly abused by them. It was not obvious at the time, but became part of WWII. We should have learned.
The Big Lie. "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." Joseph Goebbels.
Last night 's PA council meeting had a parade of phone in commentors reading prepared statements curated from unnammed homeless persons read by callers half of whom were from out in the county, many saying Port Angeles should allow public camping essentially everywhere including sidewalks and in front of businesses. What started as public safety conversations has been derailed into a very long discussion about how PA should provide free public camping for essentially everyone who shows up. Listening to some of them I realized the local socialists are very activated.
Why aren't these activists who live in the county not showing up at county meetings? When every public space in PA can be claimed by drug camps will my property tax be reduced accordingly?
Where were the LWV members jumping out of their seats, pointing fingers at the screen, and yelling about the out of town commenters? Leftist enacted decay, death, and destruction. How is that democracy?
Indivisible: impossible of undergoing division, an indivisible Union of states, one nation indivisible.
Indivisible is a nationwide movement of millions of people working to stop the rise of authoritarism in the United States and to demand a real democracy.
It is comical to watch what this group is REALLY for besides demanding real democracy. The democrats have been for slavery which should speak volumes when it comes to indivisible. The democrats were willing to go to war to keep slaves being slaves, they are no different today than they were over 100 years ago even though they try and put lipstick on the pig. It’s always about what you don’t see, always.
Taxpayers are paying school districts to make sure our children are educated in Arithmetic, writing & reading so they become productive adults in society. We are not paying school districts to push politics period. Not one cent or one minute should be spent for political education, sexual orientation & religion.
I quit paying for the sheep leaning media years ago, thank goodness we still have a choice. Supporting that type of media financially in any way is like supporting harm reduction.
Indivisible, Move-on, No Kings - they are all part of the Democratic Socialist agenda. Trump-haters, republican haters, etc. All paid for by Soros' Open Society - millions. 2016 Trump Impeachment, 'never let a crisis go to waste' COVID - these are planned take-overs. March 28 No Kings marches ALL over the state of Washington. And now they are in our schools. Collaborating with the Tribes, creating NGOs. Funneling 30% of our taxpayer money into their agenda. You really cannot let this happen.
yes, maybe they should take their no king signs to Seattle, where King Fergi raises taxes at will, no vote, and the new Mayor says she can "make" companies do what she wants. Pathetic
Paywall, but I got as far as Dr. Berry...COVID, closing businesses, schools, etc. That is right after we move here and I still get irritated! Thanks, Sarah!
I was one of those SGGL accused of being a QAnon supporter. I had to Google it to find out what it was I supported! It was a nothing burger so big even Fat Smitty couldn't make one.
oh no! I'm so very sorry! This was one of the first political discussion that we heard about right after we moved here. I still can't figure out how they got the New York Times and WAPO to write about it all, but it ruined Sequim, almost! We kinda realized that we picked the wrong place to move to. Then, it was the 'Save Our Sequim' signs - what was it, we asked. MAT CLINIC. Drug treatment; attracting addicts. We even signed a protest letter while we were downtown.
Great CCWD and terrific, well informed Comments today! Thank you. My question is, is it too late to return that $200,000 outhouse and get a credit? $200,000 for a toilet?????
And Paula Allen, niece of Jamestown Corporation CEO Ron Allen, has put it more bluntly: “White people are a problem.” ---- This really makes me laugh when she is more "White" than anything else.
Jeff, stay cynical. Your instincts are probably right on the Cline Spit boat launch to protect the smelt. The smelt has been used as bait for getting to the big deals that required more taxpayer funding and more political control over the populace. Great articles today!
Reading about all this BS in Clallam County leaves me tired. I find it overwhelming. Meanwhile, 3 weeks in Idaho, I still see no druggies on any city street, no homeless tents, and instead of raising taxes, the entire state LOWERED taxes by 4%. I hear/read nothing about Tribes avoiding taxes, acquiring land, or getting favored treatment by corrupt politicians for return favors. The only "Indivisible" I read about is "...indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all". To me, Washington-- and especially Clallam County-- is like a foreign country, while I feel like I am Back in the USA, here.
And that saddens me greatly. My friends are in Sequim and my heart is in Sequim, the area is gorgeous, but the taxes, corruption, collusion, and leftism makes it intolerable for me. I remain an armchair activist and even though I can no longer vote in WA (legally, at least) I can still be a shit disturber to the politicians and give them a piece of my mind about their policies.
Good Governance Daily Proverb:
Good governance is not measured by the beauty of its slogans, but by whether the money, process, and results can survive public scrutiny.
Nice Dr. Sarah, succinct and simply put!
I can't wait to vote for you one day ...
Public scrutiny or public anger? The scrutiny is in the anger.

Interesting that now DNR claims they can't afford to keep Lyre campground open
Now I have Leprosy
Coincidence or strategy? Source: WA DNR (.gov) https://share.google/BApfXY2xBa2UT1egu
Why is Lyre River a presentation now? By someone who is affiliated with the Jamestown Tribe? Who is "funded" by these recent magnified presentations? None of this is a coincidence. It's brainwashing.
Thank you so much for this piece today Jeff!

In Washington State, the offices of county commissioner and school board director are generally compatible, meaning a person can hold both positions, provided they can manage the responsibilities effectively. However, there are specific circumstances where these offices may be deemed incompatible, particularly when federal or public utility district funds are involved.
*******
They are moving us all in-land.
Great article...
Thank you!!!
Re: Covid; we can forgive them for being wrong, they can't forgive us for being right.
I'm sorry your family was torn apart by COVID. I hope you can keep healing.
Nice!!!!
History repeats itself.
Teresa, you are raw, wild, smart, involved and free spirited. I do zero in on your replies!
State law? What F'ing liars!
Let them "house" them in their front yard, or better yet, in their homes.
what?!! Yes, These socialists are here! The callers should have been only locals. cute trick.
anyone can speak at public meetings. They do not need to be local. However, this was organized by one group....
clearly
Pathetic
Right! Whatabout that, how is that different or better? Pathetic, yes.
You can add Sequim Good Governance League to the list.
"The Town That QAnon Nearly Swallowed
Right-wing demagogues tried to take over a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Here’s how concerned citizens stopped them."
OMG, I should have started with them! 2022, this was written about how & why they formed. https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/sequim-qanon/
Tim Wheeler was a well known journalist and the contacts. I was contacted by many news outlets, mist notably Blumberg.
Great CCWD and terrific, well informed Comments today! Thank you. My question is, is it too late to return that $200,000 outhouse and get a credit? $200,000 for a toilet?????
the first three together cost over $700k
!!!!!
And Paula Allen, niece of Jamestown Corporation CEO Ron Allen, has put it more bluntly: “White people are a problem.” ---- This really makes me laugh when she is more "White" than anything else.
And they accuse the White people of being racist. Ha! By definition, their sovereign nation is purely racist!
Kristin, you're correct. At what point does one lose the right of being "Native American" and having the "Sovereign Rights"?
Jeff, stay cynical. Your instincts are probably right on the Cline Spit boat launch to protect the smelt. The smelt has been used as bait for getting to the big deals that required more taxpayer funding and more political control over the populace. Great articles today!
how about this qoute from the marine resource committee chair: Timestamp 1:38:16 "so we could put tire spikes. No, just kidding" --LaTrisha Suggs
Timestamp 1:27:50 "why don't we sample other areas?"
Timestamp 1:31:33 "sound toxin" something about the reason why digging is closed because they are not testing. This is a big deal!

We have what some consider the "media" to be worthy of receiving their hard earned money to trot out ultra-processed news, or worse yet biased print.
I wouldn't wrap a fish in their rag.
Invidious Sequim. League of Women Voodooers. Nasty “Natives.” Demonic Democrats.
