I do believe that Sweden’s success in the past was due to the fact they were all Swedes. Citizens agreed to “share” the high taxation for the “social” amenities because of their “oneness”. The ideology presented by the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) is Marxist Communism. The kind of “socialism” in Communist China. The same ideology demonstrated by Hitler’s Germany in 1930’s-40’s. Where will you be whe , “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”, is the governing factor in your world, instead of “life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”? William Bradford the leader of Plymouth recognized the classic resentments of the industrious vs the complacent. He switched things up. Why? Because he had an obligation to the investors that sponsored the colony to succeed. Two winters of famine just about destroyed the experiment. It was a 7 year contract that the merchants put together. If the colonists did not succeed the survivors would be going home. 2500 miles away from home and supplies in the Age of Sail. Miscalculations were serious and often deadly. Collective governance darn near killed the first Settlers.
In 2015, the Danish Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen is quoted saying, “I know that some people in the U.S. associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore, I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy.”
