This is heartbreaking. First, and foremost, is that the family and friends of Richard Madeo be given our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy during this tragic time. The fact that a media personality, long known to this community, has said and done nothing to show respect to the family by, at the very least, acknowledging his son's role in this speaks volumes. The fact that Sequim PD, who are paid to protect the citizens in that community said nothing in light of what happened...at the very least the assault of a 70-year-old man, even before those injuries led to his death...is so far beyond suspect that it is appalling. The legal system for that entire state is absolute garbage and for those willing to sit back and watch it unfold without uttering a sound, know that this only gets worse. Your silence is complicit and you're on the edge of a very steep cliff.
Yeah, admitted hitting him right on the chin, cause 'he knows what he's doing'...'done it a hundred times'. It's truly sick and sickening but we need to not get brought down but stand strong for higher values.
Claimed self-defense against a 70 year old with health issues and the judge bought it, apparently.
Aaron, the poor, innocent, victim😱
Thank George Soros, the Rockefellers', the Gates', Rothschilds', etc., their plan is working pretty well so far.🤨
Teri, you said it well! I am shocked that the police and the news have just tossed this whole situation out the window with no real information. A man lost his life in a horrible way and we are just to move on with no questions or concerns? There seems to be something wrong with what has happened here in Sequim. All those who allow this to just happen and then cover things up should be held accountable. This is Sequim and it use to be special . . . now it is showing signs of not be so special anymore.
Nor the rest of the planet...but then the population has doubled in one human lifetime...the psychology of a species out of control...and we aren't going to like the control that's being imposed...Say la vie😊
Thank you, thank you so much for all your hard work to bring this to light. My uncle was a special man and I want everyone to know just what a travesty of justice this is. Fisher should be locked up and the key thrown away so he can never harm anyone else ever again.
I hope you can truly sense the sadness our community shares for you. Many here would like to help if only we understood how. You and your family are not alone.
He should still be here and POS like Aaron should never be allowed to walk the streets and cause harm to community members. It’s like our county courthouse approves of what’s going on or they would change it. I hope something good comes from tragedy. We need to let our politicians know, this is unacceptable and we’re tired of living in fear with the nonstop chaos.. without a moment of peace.
All the people that had a part in this, that did nothing should be removed from the position they hold. Thank you Jeff, for all your hard work, dedication and speaking the truth!! Blessings for you and your family
EVERYONE in 'power' had a hand in ignoring the death of a fine man and artist. EVERY single one of the Sequim City Council, the local news rags, all of them!
Time for a RESET people!!! Let's think ahead and vote these people out!
Many people in the county would run in the Sequim City Council elections if they could. Boundary lines limit the potential for the kick in the pants this area needs and deserves.
They can be displaced without the corrupt voting system but it takes A LOT of us physically showing up...we're not there yet.🤓
Nothing bad would occur by having these 'positions' unfilled for awhile, in fact, less bad things would happen with these positions vacated for awhile but don't hold your breath...we're not there yet.
Do we have the courage of our convictions? Time Will tell.😊
Sequim council had an opportunity to at the very least, give condolences to the family during the 5/12 meeting. Instead we got a four minute speech from Dan Butler about how he wants to "aggressively pursue solutions to the complexity and tragedy of homelessness". I guess the killing of Mr. Madeo wasn't tragedy enough to mention. If anyone thinks Sequim will go anywhere but downhill with this council in place, they're sadly mistaken.
Those that give are taken away. Those that take rule Clallam County. Past time for us to take back what is being quickly stolen from us. We aren't going to take it anymore from you!
For Richard and the community's sake, thanks Jeff.
They are all around me. I see them daily. My interactions with them have been unnerving. Drive by the RV in the vacant lot by Sinclair place behind the old JC Penny and look at the door all torn off its hinges. The day it happened the kid screams at me to get him tools or help to get his RV door unlocked. Living in an apartment with no garage I had ho tools that could help him. He cussed me out and in a yelling rage directed at me he tears his RV door off its hinges and throws it where I can see it to show his disgust.. After he had been there a while (A year now) I noticed he has a regular car traffic and appears to have more friends than I do. Rather than wait for one of his many friends to quietly help him he created a neighborhood scene that seemed to last weeks and months. His friends make issues when I am trying to use my back porch. One of them gave me the finger for no other reason than being on my back porch. His lady friend dropped a deuce one morning. That was my last straw. Sinclair place does nothing the City of Sequim does nothing.
I have a skateboard riding guitar playing, RV remodeler and maniac less than 40 yards from my sliding glass door just waiting to blow his top for something else.
I'm not a "legal beagle" but I remember one of my nefarious South Tacoma neighbors (full time drug dealer) back in the early 80's getting arrested for felony drug possession and scared straight by possibly facing being incarcerated for life.
I also remember voting for Initiative 593 Three Strike Law
As much as my heart aches for Pepper Fisher as the father of his failing son his choice of career means he has an obligation to report the news. He doesn't have to be the voice. You can take a few days off. Let someone else handle the report. But KONP advertises its the voice of the Peninsula. They are a small station with a small crew no doubt conflicted with their loyalty to their co-worker and the tragedy that has unfolded. Just like people, businesses also face a test of Character. So KONP what will it be? The silence can be deafening.
What may seem like conspiracy from the outside can be as simple as harried, overworked reporters trying to cover too much on a busy festival weekend. Or clout wielded by a big player in town who prefers a wait and see approach on the subject. The newspapers have to balance free reporting with covering the bills (often the source of arguments between advertising and editorial teams).
They are not reporting freely nor are they covering the bills...if they printed a balanced perspective they would have more subscriptions, if only online.
Not many want to be fed lies of omission and redacted and censored (not allowed) articles.
Most media (including local) is owned by clandestine entities with agendas = propaganda = (to propagate an agenda).
So be apologetic if you choose but we know better.😊
Well, obviously we have been left in dark for a very long time. I’ve no doubt before you, we have been victims of lies and cover ups by people who have no scruples. We need to wake people up, the spotlight needs to shine bright for all to see. Thank you for being that light. I admire your tenacity and willingness to be a target in order to bring truth forward. I’m sickened by this whole mess
I can imagine a stubborn and opinionated 70 year old male and a perhaps 30, (?), year old male with a hard background could find disagreement. What does not wash is self defense. I cannot imagine a 70 year old physically attacking a 30 year old without some escalating argument. Generically speaking, the best self defense for a 30 year old would be to step back as much and as fast as necessary with there being no chance the 70 year old would or could catch up / keep up. A 30 year old with a checkered past, however, would delight in showing his physical prowess over a 70 year old. Self defense ?
This 30 yr old had a chance to show off his fighting skills cause he has been in a lot of fights. So he showed 70 yr old Mr. Madeo how good he can fight. I bet Mr. Fisher is proud on how well he did. I grieve for this community, as we are only going down hill. My heart is broken
I’m so very sorry our institutions have failed Mr. Madeo, his family, his friends & his community. My condolences to all.
No County or City leader or agency, no paper or radio station stood up & reported for one week the immediate arresting assault charge of Fisher & the resulting death of Mr. Mateo. We probably still wouldn’t know albeit CCWatchdog?
Don’t understand why citizens leave their trust in the hands of government, papers & radio stations who fail to report news. The public is dependent on our choices of information which clearly are compromised by who works at or owns the control of our news.
SOCIALISM is almost complete. Mr. Wheeler, LOWV’s & SGGL are jumping for joy like Wheeler in the city parade corvette.
This is what socialism looks & feels like, its a cancer that spreads from county to county, city to city, it’s not free, it’s not honest, it is not safe, and it doesn’t care about you.
The state yesterday signed into law mandatory vaccines during emergencies leaving decisions in the hands of people like Allison Berry who threatened to withhold my required thyroid medication….that is what is coming. During Covid people were threatened with their jobs unless they jabbed…add withholding your insulin, thyroid, blood pressure, heart meds unless you now take a jab. It’s HERE folks, sorry to say it’s here. No judge will uphold your rights because day by day all our rights are disappearing.
Are you awake now? Still no “NAYS”. The government has tried to silence Jeff already, it won’t be the last time. It’s only a matter of time if we sit back & don’t at least fight fight fight back peacefully somehow? It takes an army, no one person can keep orbreverse all the loss of freedoms of our republic alone without large numbers of help. Thank you Jeff for standing up when others aren’t.
Consumer-grade security cameras, like the ones small businesses and nearby neighbors are likely to have installed, and if equipped with removable memory, are often capable of only a weeks' worth of footage-retention. The delay in reporting, and the delay in public outreach for evidence, is wholly inexcusable.
That this guy is let loose after the victim's death lets me know where I stand in this community, and it's not reassuring. Stay vigilant.
There is no act too small, no act too bold. The history of social change is the history of millions of actions, small and large, coming together at critical points to create a power that governments cannot suppress.

Sequim NOW doesn't bear much resemblance to the Sequim I moved to more than 2 decades ago.
Nor the rest of the planet...but then the population has doubled in one human lifetime...the psychology of a species out of control...and we aren't going to like the control that's being imposed...Say la vie😊

You're welcome, Diane.
EVERYONE in 'power' had a hand in ignoring the death of a fine man and artist. EVERY single one of the Sequim City Council, the local news rags, all of them!
Time for a RESET people!!! Let's think ahead and vote these people out!
Everybody GO to City Planning, County Planning, CCEDC, and the police station.
Wake em up!
Be an Ant.
Be a 100 Ants.
Well, we're faced with these people running unopposed. How do we motivate someone to run against these people?
Many people in the county would run in the Sequim City Council elections if they could. Boundary lines limit the potential for the kick in the pants this area needs and deserves.
Apparently it’s not bad enough yet. There are too many hard line Democrats who refuse to Buck the system.
They can be displaced without the corrupt voting system but it takes A LOT of us physically showing up...we're not there yet.🤓

My sentiments exactly. Well said

Its Sequim now. Its the liberal hodt.
You're welcome. Would you say the complaints in your neighborhood are being treated "equitably?"
I would say yes if you wanted a neighborhood filled with legal killing machines, roaming a retirement population.
In the old days Pieper or Johnny Sweat would already have paid him a visit and his RV would be in Tacoma.
The COVID shot has been replaced with a square on the chin shot.
2 criminal households out of 13 on our little road...not good odds.🤨
Maybe it could be towed to Councilor Butler's residence.
He will be there all summer, sitting in his chair looking at my back porch aching for more interaction with the tenants here.

Journalistic silence can ONLY be a conspiracy.😎

I'm cancelling my subscription. If they cover up a murder, they are not worth reading.
hmm.. point received.💥

Nicely, and reasonably stated.

Not when you are a psychopath...his ex-girlfriend accused him of rape/murder...there is no saving Aaron.😱
We are the acorns of discontent that are germinating into a forest of might.
I have some dry-rot but I'm hanging in there!😊

It may well take the real army if it is intact enough and moral enough to serve in that capacity.
It will be an emergency when they try and force jabs...and they will or they wouldn't have passed the 'bill'.
If we are murdered by the gov't it won't be the first time.
Over 100 million people were murdered by 'their' gov'ts in the last 100 years...in every case civilian disarmament preceded the genocides.
Good thing we're not our bodies!🎭
Beautiful article Jeff. Now it's time to hold these people accountable.
