I have been going through some of our posted articles and wanted to pick a few words to point out the emotions involved versus the actual, real, “definitions” being bandied about.
How about we agree to disagree. Pick a dictionary and argue over which definitions are we going to accept and which we reject. Here is my beginning list. Make up your own.
This is just for fun:
1. “Affordable Housing”. Affordable to whom?
2. “Harm Reduction”. Reduced for whom?
3. “Progressive” versus “Liberal”? Take your choice.
4. “Late term Abortion”? How late is “late”?
5. “Free Speech”. How free?
6. D.E.I.? I thought the United States Supreme Court already declared this was discriminatory and against the LAW.
7. Education versus Indoctrination. What are our children being taught?
8. Meritocracy versus Mediocrity? What are the goals for our children? Are there any?
9. Enabling versus Dependency? Can one be exchanged for another?
10. Immigration versus Invasion? What is the difference?
11. Skills versus labels. What is the goal?
12. “Just Plain Stupid”? A state of being.
As we read through this list, a fraction of the ”real” list, we can visualize this problem has been growing. We have many who create their own definitions for their words. Politicians love these words. They sound good, but have no real meaning. Maybe we need a special Board to list the “acceptable” definitions for us to agree during our discussions. We could have an N.G.O. to fund this Board and it would exist forever.
Everyone picks on the golf course about water. It only uses water 5 months out of the year. It has at least 50 tournaments a year and people stay at hotels ,eat meals, and spend money in CC. Most DONT stay at the casino or eat there. This weekend 176 golfers play at PGCC and that is PA water. TheDungenessGC brings in mucho tax dollars that aren’t Tribal exempt $. We need the income so be careful of what you ask for. The golf course is a revenue maker non tribal dollars also. I know this for a fact.
We pick our issues. We take down the dams, cover the irrigation ditches, ignore building reservoirs, and wonder why we are not improving our water usage. This is a desert. Start dealing with the issue; many more people, no reservoirs.
So true! And another elephant in the room that’s not even mentioned…the “ homeless problem” is really a “ drug addiction problem”. To make this about “ homeless “all they need is a home and problem solved” is naive, uninformed, and has not been proven to help. The view that it’s not drugs and drug dealers is ignoring the obvious…it also implies lack of current research and ignores what’s happening in other cities and towns across the country. Our county’s collective thought process is far behind what is currently known. If they were to study the issues as opposed to adopt the group think, and explore what is happening elsewhere in our country, they might be able to address the “ real problem”…drugs.
Emily Randall’s rhetoric about “white men” is not only wrong, but announces her gross bias and lack of study and education, not to mention ignorant and hateful. If she picked up any data brief, she’d know, for example, that the mass migration experienced in the last decade are mainly young men of color, of military age, and who are committing crimes at an alarming rate. The problem is NOT white men, Emily! The problem is people in government positions ignoring facts and opining cult-like labels sowing divisive, ignorant untruths.
My point is that the revenue we need comes from the golf course. You wouldn’t believe the amount of visitors that support our economy here because of the destination golf course. I am not taking sides with the Tribe I just know that the income derived from the course is enormous and they employ a lot of Non tribal residents of CC. How much revenue is created by parks? A green lawn? We waste as much electricity and water as we use in a lot of cases.
You can’t blame the Tribe for the inequity the white judges have given them. We are not going to win the with with the Trube so we should dwell on what we can change like Sheldon has proposed. Next time you see the outside lights on in the day time at CC businesses or house is a good example of change. We waste more than you realize. Start there. The OMC still use fluorescent lighting. That said they would save half the electricity with LED lamps and get a rebate from the Power Co. I have a proposal in as we speak for them. There is solutions we just have to implement them.

There are pastures, wells, and other businesses that are either restricted or pay higher prices for water (car washes for example) We all should be on equal terms in the way of water use and taxes. Under her leadership, the Civil Rights Division has fundamentally pivoted its focus. She has publicly launched a high-profile "war" against what her office classifies as reverse discrimination—specifically targeting institutions, programs, or public officials who make disparaging remarks or implement policies that discriminate against white citizens and traditional religious groups.
2. Why are critics "paging" her regarding Paula Allen?

An exercise in frustration. Let us talk about terms, definitions, versus opinions. Everyone has opinions on just about everything, but, how do we communicate? I have been going through some of our posted articles and wanted to pick a few words to point out the emotions involved versus the actual, real, “definitions” being bandied about.
How about we agree to disagree. Pick a dictionary and argue over which definitions are we going to accept and which we reject. Here is my beginning list. Make up your own.
This is just for fun:
1. “Affordable Housing”. Affordable to whom?
2. “Harm Reduction”. Reduced for whom?
3. “Progressive” versus “Liberal”? Take your choice.
4. “Late term Abortion”? How late is “late”?
5. “Free Speech”. How free?
6. D.E.I.? I thought the United States Supreme Court already declared this was discriminatory and against the LAW.
7. Education versus Indoctrination. What are our children being taught?
8. Meritocracy versus Mediocrity? What are the goals for our children? Are there any?
9. Enabling versus Dependency? Can one be exchanged for another?
10. Immigration versus Invasion? What is the difference?
11. Skills versus labels. What is the goal?
12. “Just Plain Stupid”? A state of being.
As we read through this list, a fraction of the ”real” list, we can visualize this problem has been growing. We have many who create their own definitions for their words. Politicians love these words. They sound good, but have no real meaning. Maybe we need a special Board to list the “acceptable” definitions for us to agree during our discussions. We could have an N.G.O. to fund this Board and it would exist forever.

With Fergusons decision on the state Wiidlife Commission members, it is easy to see why others do what they do. No accountability.
Everyone picks on the golf course about water. It only uses water 5 months out of the year. It has at least 50 tournaments a year and people stay at hotels ,eat meals, and spend money in CC. Most DONT stay at the casino or eat there. This weekend 176 golfers play at PGCC and that is PA water. TheDungenessGC brings in mucho tax dollars that aren’t Tribal exempt $. We need the income so be careful of what you ask for. The golf course is a revenue maker non tribal dollars also. I know this for a fact.
We pick our issues. We take down the dams, cover the irrigation ditches, ignore building reservoirs, and wonder why we are not improving our water usage. This is a desert. Start dealing with the issue; many more people, no reservoirs.
So true! And another elephant in the room that’s not even mentioned…the “ homeless problem” is really a “ drug addiction problem”. To make this about “ homeless “all they need is a home and problem solved” is naive, uninformed, and has not been proven to help. The view that it’s not drugs and drug dealers is ignoring the obvious…it also implies lack of current research and ignores what’s happening in other cities and towns across the country. Our county’s collective thought process is far behind what is currently known. If they were to study the issues as opposed to adopt the group think, and explore what is happening elsewhere in our country, they might be able to address the “ real problem”…drugs.
Emily Randall’s rhetoric about “white men” is not only wrong, but announces her gross bias and lack of study and education, not to mention ignorant and hateful. If she picked up any data brief, she’d know, for example, that the mass migration experienced in the last decade are mainly young men of color, of military age, and who are committing crimes at an alarming rate. The problem is NOT white men, Emily! The problem is people in government positions ignoring facts and opining cult-like labels sowing divisive, ignorant untruths.
What time of year do they water their golf course? If it's during everyone else's restriction period, that's where the inequity thrives.
My point is that the revenue we need comes from the golf course. You wouldn’t believe the amount of visitors that support our economy here because of the destination golf course. I am not taking sides with the Tribe I just know that the income derived from the course is enormous and they employ a lot of Non tribal residents of CC. How much revenue is created by parks? A green lawn? We waste as much electricity and water as we use in a lot of cases.
You can’t blame the Tribe for the inequity the white judges have given them. We are not going to win the with with the Trube so we should dwell on what we can change like Sheldon has proposed. Next time you see the outside lights on in the day time at CC businesses or house is a good example of change. We waste more than you realize. Start there. The OMC still use fluorescent lighting. That said they would save half the electricity with LED lamps and get a rebate from the Power Co. I have a proposal in as we speak for them. There is solutions we just have to implement them.
jedj, if the golf course only needs water 5 months a year, so does everyone else. We all receive the same amount of rain. Why can the golf course use water when the rest can't? There are pastures, wells, and other businesses that are either restricted or pay higher prices for water (car washes for example) We all should be on equal terms in the way of water use and taxes. JST is not and they profit much more than the county. I would agree with you if all was equal and fair.
We have an activist minority running the county...and state, I believe.
All we can do is spread the word and vote. Most people I attempt to talk to are not interested in politics.
