In a constitutional republic, public power belongs to the people—not to organizations; transparency keeps that line clear, and when influence moves without visibility, the law may stand while public trust quietly erodes.
TREASURY SECRETARY SCOTT BESSENT IS GAY. He was Trump's pick. I am so concerned that people are watching or listening to something that would put them to the edge of reality with bags packed fearing camps and death because of being Gay. It makes no sense.
Gosh, you'd think Trump would KNOW he's hiring non-straight people, or does he... I mean if he's so hateful to LGBT... how could he hire these people???
The commissioners did not respond to yesterday's question about how the Recompete Coordinator will bring people back into the workforce while also opposing capitalism.
Here is today's email to the League of Women Voters:
Dear League of Women Voters,
Please see the five questions at the bottom of the article. I’m happy to publish your responses in full, unedited.
@JeffTozzer — for readers who may not be familiar with how these structures work, it may help to clarify the accountability lanes (Clarity is Kindness).
The League of Women Voters is a private nonprofit organization. It may choose to respond to public questions, but it is not legally required to answer the way elected officials or public employees are.
If concerns involve County programs or County staff — like the Recompete Coordinator — accountability rests with the Commissioners and County administration. They are subject to Washington’s Open Public Meetings Act and Public Records Act and ultimately answer to voters.
Nonprofits operate under a different framework. If someone has concerns about a nonprofit’s legal compliance, here are the appropriate oversight channels:
These are separate from OPMA or PRA enforcement, which apply only to public agencies.
So while it’s fair to invite responses from civic organizations, transparency obligations about government action remain with government itself — and enforcement mechanisms differ depending on who holds the authority.
Keeping those distinctions clear helps everyone know where expectations — and accountability — properly belong.
@Jennifer @No One Important — I understand why this feels concerning. When a group calls itself “nonpartisan” and then runs messaging that feels political or curates forum questions, it can erode trust. That’s a legitimate perception issue.
But it helps to separate influence from authority.
From my understanding, the article argues that the League’s tone feels partisan and that they aren’t responding to questions. It does not allege that they administer elections or control ballots. In Washington, elections are run by the County Auditor under state law (Title 29A RCW): https://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=29A
-If someone believes that the legal line was crossed, complaints go to the Public Disclosure Commission (https://www.pdc.wa.gov) or the IRS.
-If the concern is neutrality, forum fairness, or credibility — that’s internal governance. Members elect leadership, and concerns can be raised with the local League or the League of Women Voters of Washington (https://lwvwa.org).
So there are different lanes:
-Election control → County Auditor
-Legal campaign violations → PDC / IRS
-Credibility and neutrality → League leadership & membership
-Public trust → media scrutiny and community response
*Perception matters. But clarity about authority helps us aim concerns where they actually belong.
Dr Sarah, I do stand by what you wrote, it's not the reality what LWV's is doing in our county. You write about what should be, but in reality it is not what is being followed. If all followed the stepford rules you laid out, it would be great. Laying down policies, procedures, rules of laws etc is great education but it is not what is happening.
People don't work on the theories and unfollowed rules, laws and regulations. People are emotional creatures who react when they feel they have been wronged. Trying to calm us down with rules of laws and AI talk does not work. Sometimes its too much. It is hitting that mark. Please feed into AI what is the point when people should take an emotional stance and rebel.
You’re right about one thing: people don’t live in RCWs and IRS codes. They live in lived experience. And when someone feels unheard, sidelined, or manipulated, emotion is not irrational — it’s a signal.
But here’s where I gently push back.
Emotion tells us something feels wrong.
It doesn’t automatically tell us what will fix it.
Rebellion can spotlight a problem. History proves that. But unchanneled rebellion often burns energy without changing structure. The durable shifts — the ones that last — happen when emotion is directed at the right lever.
-If the problem is credibility, the lever is transparency.
-If the problem is neutrality, the lever is membership accountability.
-If the problem is election process, the lever is formal oversight and documented challenge.
Walking away from rules because they aren’t being followed doesn’t strengthen the system — it leaves it to whoever is willing to ignore them.
You’re not wrong to feel frustrated. I just don’t believe abandoning process is how we protect what we care about.
I get that, Dr. Sarah, but they are clearly partisan and intimately involved in things like our elections, along with other left-learning personnel. Who knows how closely signatures must match, or whether batches of ballots are counted multiple times when one of the "non-partisan" overseers as clearly partisan. They are not the only election officials I mistrust. If you haven't noticed, all the "errors" in our elections go one way-- to the left. Vacant lots, gas stations, non-existent addresses, and phantom voters at legitimate addresses all seem to vote leftwards. Are there ANY conservatives closely overseeing our elections? As an observer, we were not allowed to see signature matching. It is my understanding that Clallam is the the only precinct in the state that hides signature match decisions from the observers. Whenever the LWV is involved in any sort of governmental role, where advisory, volunteer work, or in policy decisions, they always seem to skew left, ergo any function that LWV serves should also have MAGA conservatives as well.
Bottom line is that they should be honest and up front, and change their names to League of Women Leftists, so that people don't fall for the faux impartiality.
By claiming the LWVCC is non-patisan, its members get to occupy the third chair in Election Observations for CC elections. That means 2 to 1 Democrats to Republicans with no true non-partisans. A complaint has been filed, but until the Auditor finally decides to impose stricter adherence to the rules, the imbalance in our County gov't will continue.
@No One Important — Denise raises a more concrete concern, and that’s a different category than allegations of phantom voters or double-counting.
In Washington, ballot processing observers are typically designated by recognized political parties. The County Auditor administers that process under state law. Civic organizations do not appoint themselves into ballot rooms — they participate only if authorized under the rules the Auditor applies.
If there is a belief that the “third chair” observer designation is being used in a way that creates partisan imbalance, that is a procedural question for the Auditor and, if necessary, the Secretary of State.
Denise mentioned that a complaint has been filed. That’s the appropriate channel. Structural concerns should be documented and reviewed through a formal process.
But it’s important to distinguish that question from broader claims of systemic fraud. Observer composition and ballot manipulation are very different allegations.
-If the concern is imbalance, that’s a governance and compliance issue.
-If the concern is illegal ballot handling, that requires documented evidence and a formal investigation.
Strong oversight depends on a documented process, not assumption.
As the Election Observer Coordinator for Clallam County Republicans, I can speak to our elections. You're welcome to contact me if you have questions or wish to get involved yourself.
NOI, they don't, their ORIGINAL beginnings were based in the teachings of voting and the education of that process. Like any NGO, once enough money flows in and gets big, like Goodwill, Save our Children, Human Society, Habitat for Humanity etc. it becomes a business. The business then supports itself and not based on what the original cause was, but to support the BUSINESS and the ones who run it.
LWV'S is now a business supported by the interest of the ones who decide what they want and how to achieve it. LWV is no more related to what it was originally was intended for than Harm Reduction that was started as a Needle Exchange in the 70's. It once worked as a grassroots cause, but is now has bastardized its true nature.
Yes, another fine example of an NGO is AARP, carrying the ACA agenda via pushing United Healthcare "Advantage Plans", exclusively, while pretending to advocate for senior Citizens. Many people believe that United Healthcare is AARP, having been indoctrinated via years as AARP members. Try to cancel United Healthcare; it can take months of calls that state your coverage has been canceled, as premiums are being drawn from your bank account while you are stressing out, further deteriorating existing health issues in the process. Non-profits and NGOs have become the latest bookies, laundering taxpayer money benefitting sociopolitical candidates/agendas.
NOI, if you look into LVW policies and procedures, and the nonpartisan views they maintain, they have no rights (as they state) other than to educate and promote voting rights.
Dr Sarah, Are the Clallam County LWV really a League of Women Voters? Somehow they have gone far afield of their policies toward protecting their credibility. Sorry for the long reference below;
LWV POLICIES AND PROCEDURES PAGE 10
Nonpartisan and Non-League Involvement Policies
The purpose of these policies is to protect the credibility of the LWVWA as an organization that DOES NOT SUPPORT OR OPPOSE ANY POLITICAL PARTY OR CANDIDATE. ONLY TO THE EXTENT THAT THE PUBLIC AND ITS ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE CONVINCED OF THE LEAGUE’S GENUINE IMPARTIALITY TOWARDS CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICES WILL THE LEAGUE BE ABLE TO RENDER EFFECTIVE VOTER SERVICE ACTIVITIES and gain a wide base of support for its positions on governmental issues.
Jennifer — I think what you’re really naming isn’t just policy language. It’s the silence.
If an organization claims “nonpartisan” credibility and members of the public ask sincere questions about how that standard is applied — and there’s no response — that does erode trust. Not because it’s automatically illegal. But because it feels dismissive.
The policy language you quoted is clear: the League says it does not support or oppose any political party or candidate. That’s the legal definition for a 501(c)(3). For this to become a statutory issue, there would need to be documented candidate endorsement, campaign coordination, improper election administration, or failure to comply with campaign finance reporting. None of that is alleged in the article.
So this isn’t, at this stage, a lawbreaking question.
It’s a credibility question.
And here’s the hard truth: a private nonprofit is not legally required to answer public questions. That doesn’t make silence wise. But it does mean the remedy isn’t rebellion or assuming illegality.
When an organization won’t engage, the levers that remain are:
Credibility isn’t enforced by statute. It’s maintained voluntarily. If they choose not to clarify how they define “nonpartisan” in practice, that’s their decision — and the public will draw conclusions accordingly.
At the same time, we have to be careful not to blend separate issues. Concerns about tone and neutrality are different from allegations about ballot handling or fraud. Election administration in Washington is governed by state law and handled by the County Auditor. If there are structural concerns about observer roles, those should be addressed through formal process and documented complaint.
Emotion is understandable when people feel unheard. But durable change comes from directing that energy at the correct lever of authority.
Silence may erode trust.
But precision is what produces accountability.
I’m not defending anyone here. I’m trying to keep the lanes clear so concerns land where they can actually move something.
Gayle, thank you for the site. Where or how should I back up the claim of noncompliance? I would like to be exact in my complaint, so if you could help point me to the facts, that would be extremely helpful in my making my claim believable. BTW, yesterday I was looking for a site I could go to that wasn't generated by the LWV to file a complaint. Your site is way better than what I found. It goes to the IRS!
@Jennifer & @Gayle — one important clarification before anyone files an IRS complaint.
The League structure typically includes two separate entities:
• A 501(c)(3) education fund (strictly prohibited from endorsing or opposing candidates).
• A 501(c)(4) social welfare arm (allowed to engage in stronger policy advocacy, though still not primarily a candidate campaign organization).
For an IRS Form 13909 complaint to be viable, there would need to be documented evidence that the 501(c)(3) arm engaged in explicit candidate endorsement or political campaign intervention — meaning urging voters to elect or defeat a named candidate.
Strong criticism of an administration, issue advocacy, or policy statements — even if people disagree with them — do not automatically meet that threshold.
Before filing a federal complaint, it’s important to identify:
• Which legal entity paid for the ad.
• The exact language used.
• Whether it referenced a specific candidate or election.
The IRS standard is narrow. It focuses on candidate intervention — not perceived ideological alignment.
If the concern is neutrality or credibility, that’s a different lane: public scrutiny, membership accountability, and media questioning.
Precision matters here. Filing a complaint without clear statutory grounding doesn’t strengthen the argument — it weakens it.
Hipocracy thrives in Clallam County politics. Non partisan itself is a lie. Fear Itself is a powerful tool. League of women Voters has an agenda which seems to be self promoting and radically leftist. Claiming to be nonpartisan, while promoting socialist ideals using fear-mongering and misinformation. Fear those that won’t or can’t answer your questions. Fear those who don’t have the courage to defend their position with facts. Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes believable.
Well, said Eric, the far left, always promotes fear mongering. The dreaded gloom and doom all the time. The League of Women Voters is a testament of that. What we need to do as citizens of Clallam County is to not let them continue to get away with it.
I also forgot to mention that they went to one of their own people and told them they had to choose between being on watchdog or on the League of Women Voters now what the hell is that?!
Evrita, they made an offer she couldn't refuse. But she did anyways! That is called independent thinking, not group hypnosis. PS, it wasn't a choice, it was a veiled threat.
Interestingly, I know several people who are living their lives the exact same way as your friends, but have the complete opposite politics. They have bug out bags, escape routes, and contingency plans for being rounded up by leftists. And honestly I was thinking that was a possibility during Covid when I refused to comply with “mandates”. Political power is wielded and gained through fear. Doesn’t matter what the politics are fear is the currency. Some places are so steeped in that way of thinking that it is pervasive in every aspect of life. It has become a culture in WA state, the currency of fear.
TJ, I gave my kids homemade Bug Out Bag for Christmas. I put some interesting things in it. We also made plans if communications, roads etc (bc earthquake) were damaged, where to meet so that we wouldn't all be wandering around looking for each other. Even agreed on a secret call (sounds like an elk call) We laughed when practicing the elk call. I sounded more like a sick cow ; )
When I was moving to Montana, I had fear put into me that Obama was going to close borders between the states. That never happened, and I always hold it in my mind that I can’t believe everything I hear.
Nothing wrong with being prepared for the worst — just like growing up in Washington State has prepared people for the Big One for decades now — but when it stops people from enjoying life, or seeing the good in life, or making the most of life, and makes them scared to even live life, that’s when it goes too far.
I always have jumper cables in my car and car insurance; not because I fear the worst, but because I feel better when I’m prepared; I also always have my husband in my car so he can handle the stuff I’m not good at. LOL. There’s a difference between preparedness and being consumed by fear.
“The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.”
The LWV 'invented' the term "nonpartisan." What I mean is, they have used it and brought it into the liberal, Democratic lexicon to use to sound like they are nonpartisan, but obviously, they are not. It's in the Washington state voters ballots, candidate descriptions, etc. It's in the national voting. It's everywhere a Democrat is running for any position. What a roose!
So odd, Jeff, that someone wants to talk to you about CCWD posts, but won't take your business card to connect with you. Her actions leave you questioning her motives. Susan's behavior during the CRC meetings was very unprofessional. Her failure to recognize your efforts and contributions on behalf of your constituents should have been called into question by every other CRC commissioner. It is evident that the LWV leadership does not practice what they preach. Applicants beware!
Just because Susan Fisch was a judge does not mean she is fair, impartial, or someone without a bit of an inferiority complex, who is also a bit of a bully.
I actually think people like Susan Fisch are the reason for democracy and even more the republic. Our predecessors and founding fathers knew people just like her. They realized you could not have the Susan Fisch's of the world gain complete power, and they devised a way for the people to take it back whenever someone like her bubbled to the top. The problem is we have a lot of Susan Fisch's in Clallam County and WA.
I like Rita's reference to 2016...the Trump bashing and TDS became a real thing on so many news sources. I have a long time friend that believes it hook, line, and sinker ...he tells every time he listens to the King 5 truth!
I try to mention the lies and propaganda they push and it's met with a wall. I never talk politics with him anymore. He talks about how all the unions will be broken up and how people should work and pay their way...stop breaking laws and he doesn't connect the dots. I still call him my brother. I can't let a 30 year relationship get in the way!
I do believe the LWV have been under the same trance and I'm always surprised to see them even want to hang out with other colonizers!!!!
We start with Jake Seegers in 2026!
We get back our county one step at a time. Never forget what these lions have brought to our doorsteps in our beautiful county!
Sarah, it's the same threat used against local government officials to keep them silent. They were warned that writing any opinion outside of their "approved" outlines or joining any site, such as this one, might LEAD TO A LAW SUIT. Some have stepped up despite the threats (those are the ones I listen to), others are using it as an excuse to not engage (those are the ones to beware of)
The restructure plan of their website starts with "The Structure Transformation Plan:
Build Power Together: The League Structure Transformation Plan is an initiative to grow League membership in number and diversity, strengthen our grassroots power, and bolster our ability to empower voters and defend democracy. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion lens was central to the taskforce’s work in preparing this plan." It also talks A LOT about collecting membership dues.
Does this sound like a nonpartisan organization or one controlled with one political viewpoint trying to "defend democracy?" Methinks it's akin to the American Federation of Teachers, now more concerned with $$ and power than educating kids.
Robert, I picked up on the same thing, but somehow the LWV interprets their own words and transformation plans differently than the average bear. Below, last sentence: HAS THE COLLECTIVE POWER TO ENSURE ALL VOICES ARE HEARD.
My Question: If all voices are heard, why did they give one of its members a choice of being a CCWD member or a LWV, but not both?
“We need to grow our grassroots membership in number and DIVERSITY so that our organization looks like the people we serve and HAS THE COLLECTIVE POWER TO ENSURE ALL VOICES ARE HEARD”
Robert, I think Soros funding has a huge influence on the American Federation of Teachers. You are correct, it is more concerned with $$ and power and is using his money to brainwash, not educate.
Exactly so. From your link: "I am ecstatic about the transformation that the League is undertaking, as it allows us to respond more powerfully to protect our democracy!"
And the whole 'protecting our Democracy" routine ..... ugh
Nature abhors a vacuum. Since the LWVCC has declared, by its actions, to be partisan, there is a need for independent fulcrum in local politics. That space is being filled by the Calico Cat Social Club, which has taken over sponsorship of the PEOPLES FORUM. Our next meeting is scheduled for March 2, 2026 at 6:300 PM at The Gathering in Sunland, 135 Fairway Drive in Sequim. Drop by, if you so desire, and see nonpartisanship in action.
Our next meeting will be used to plan a Town Hall on Public Safety. Public Safety officials accepting our invitation to participate in the upcoming Town Hall include County Prosecutor; County Sheriff; 3rd District County Commissioner; Port Angeles Chief of Police.
I am an American. Do I not deserve the same rights as the Rainbow citizens? Nobody should be signaled out by sexual preferences positive or negative. We all put our pants on the same way and are created equal. That said why do we label people different by the way they choose to live their life?
You lost me. WTH is “LGBTQIA+”? This popped up on a Fox program two weeks ago and they were dumbfounded on the alphabet-term. Y’all need to define this string for this bumpkin. Not bashing it in anyway, but the inclusiveness is getting overwhelming. No problems here with people aligning with a group or a label, just trying to understand my neighbors just a little bit better.
The non partisanship of the LWVCC has crept into our government’s non-partisan positions of the City is Sequim and Clallam County. Quickly and in a big way. As with any in of these elected officials, follow the money. Choose to support or oppose. Choose to buy or boycott, choose to participate or sit on your hands. Freedom. Freedom living in the USA. And not having to be led around by a nose ring, being told who to support, when to talk, what oppose. Celebrate our freedom.
Good Governance Daily Proverb:
In a constitutional republic, public power belongs to the people—not to organizations; transparency keeps that line clear, and when influence moves without visibility, the law may stand while public trust quietly erodes.

Excellent!

• Public scrutiny
• Media pressure
• Membership accountability (members elect leadership)
• Donor accountability
• Competing civic engagement
LIARS....
IRS FORM 10399 is handy for filing a complaint with the IRS: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f13909.pdf
The LWV is not in compliance with its 501c3 status.
Thank you Dr Sarah, this is exactly what I was asking for....it would be difficult to prove either one with the facts at hand.
From the lwv.org website today
“The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.”
Nonpartisan.
That’s NOT what’s happening in Clallam County.
Exactly! Somewhere the train went off the track in Clallam County. Same can be said of Habitat for Humanity. A train wreck here in Clallam County.
It only runs one way and it isn’t my way
The LWV 'invented' the term "nonpartisan." What I mean is, they have used it and brought it into the liberal, Democratic lexicon to use to sound like they are nonpartisan, but obviously, they are not.
Susan Fisch is a danger to democracy.
Just because Susan Fisch was a judge does not mean she is fair, impartial, or someone without a bit of an inferiority complex, who is also a bit of a bully.
Being a judge, lawyer or commissioner does not mean you are a good person, make fair decisions or uphold the law. Voter and buyers beware.

Good morning Jeff,
I like Rita's reference to 2016...the Trump bashing and TDS became a real thing on so many news sources.
Thank you Jeff and have a great day all!
Liars not lions ...
Excellent article! Any person or organization engaging in fear mongering does not have our best interest at heart.
Sarah, it's the same threat used against local government officials to keep them silent. They were warned that writing any opinion outside of their "approved" outlines or joining any site, such as this one, might LEAD TO A LAW SUIT. Some have stepped up despite the threats (those are the ones I listen to), others are using it as an excuse to not engage (those are the ones to beware of)
Is it a coincidence that the League felt the need to restructure beginning with the 2016 election cycle? https://www.lwv.org/structure#:~:text=The%20League%20Structure%20Transformation%20Plan,more%20unified%20and%20effective%20organization.
As grandpa used to say, they’re so full of poop their eyes are brown … 😂
Robert, I think Soros funding has a huge influence on the American Federation of Teachers. You are correct, it is more concerned with $$ and power and is using his money to brainwash, not educate.
Exactly so. From your link: "I am ecstatic about the transformation that the League is undertaking, as it allows us to respond more powerfully to protect our democracy!"
And the whole 'protecting our Democracy" routine ..... ugh
Right on, Jeff! You are so eloquent and forthright. Proud to know ya.
Same here Sue!
Nice picture of you and Doug in D.C.
Too many museums, too little time.
So true.
Fonzie's jacket.
Who are the panelists?
Our next meeting will be used to plan a Town Hall on Public Safety. Public Safety officials accepting our invitation to participate in the upcoming Town Hall include County Prosecutor; County Sheriff; 3rd District County Commissioner; Port Angeles Chief of Police.
I am an American. Do I not deserve the same rights as the Rainbow citizens? Nobody should be signaled out by sexual preferences positive or negative. We all put our pants on the same way and are created equal. That said why do we label people different by the way they choose to live their life?
POWER.
Jeff you are bold and brilliant. Thank you!
You misspelled "bald." :)
