One other interesting point. JKT's annual budget exceeds $100 million, but, according to today's PDN, Clallam County's budget for 2026-27 is $56.1 million - and that's with a projected $2.5 million deficit. That makes me wonder, as Andy Rooney would say, why the county should think it should feel beholden to a corporation that, at least on paper, is fiscally almost twice as strong as it is, and also receives bookoo breaks from the federal, state, and local government not available to non-tribal entities?
Interesting quotes from the Yakima-Herald article Jeff links to:
"When he (Allen) became chairman in 1977, the Jamestown S'Klallam had no revenue and no reservation. Now the tribe's annual budget exceeds $100 million, it operates a variety of businesses, and it owns or controls about 2,000 acres."
"Allen sees the transfers as a chance for Jamestown to blaze a trail for other tribes. It’s a moment of truth for the Native 'land back' movement, says Jefferson County Commissioner Greg Brotherton, who supports the transfers. “This is a bigger conversation than just us and Protection Island,” adds his colleague, Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour, who has adopted a neutral stance.
They say the quiet part out loud -- the proposed refuge transfers are the sharp end of the spear in the native land back movement, which of course is nothing but a power play from the progressive left and its politicians supported by the tribes. Beware these false prophets.
When I see a dog with a homeless person holding a sign that says "need money for food"... it breaks my heart knowing these dogs are not being fed. Homeless people do not need pets. They only use them to stay warm when it's cold. These animals are being abused. Extreme neglect that causes prolonged suffering, starvation , dehydration, or death is the definition of a felony crime
I believe we're in the midst of a powerful group psychosis (or a developing one), generally in the country, but also locally. Our leaders have entered into it deeply, as demonstrated by the CC Watchdog's daily reveals of bonkers thinking in CC. So, I wrote this article as a step-by-step instructions on how to untangle the knot. https://davidzelenka.substack.com/p/untangling-knots
I do believe in local action, including voting (overwhelm with ballots), but the solution is at a much deeper and individual and family level.
Ethan Wayne wants to sell out his fathers peaceful place to millionaire dreamers.
Homes will cost absorbate amounts, and "Scully" does not want ANY affordable homes down on the water, because well,,, that wouldn't be practical.
Why can we not have a home, built on the water view, that IS affordable?
Take your money and tend to the losses we are experiencing in our community.
Don't listen to a bunch of "retired Feds "coming here to live.
Are they fleeing CALIFORNIA?
You wanna know WHY the increase in people here?
I think, the Sequim Comp plan is in BED with "Rolloff" and "Wayne" enterprises and their PLANS for another Seabrook.
So they will finally fix the roads?
The Designer and master of the Sequim Comp plan, is Karla B.

Designing life for locals, or BIG MONEY??
600 homes = over 2,000 new faces.
There were many voices in opposition, and there is now an extension on moving forward (Due in 2025, we are out of compliance) with the SQ Comp Plan.... you can go on-line and read ALL the public comments on line, they created a comment library.

"Oysters are oysters, for crying out loud.” So we can stop planting the Olympia oyster..since oysters are just oysters.
I am so pleased to be informed of this and I will be sure to let the MRC know that "Oysters are oysters, for crying out loud.”
