That makes me wonder, as Andy Rooney would say, why the county should think it should feel beholden to a corporation that, at least on paper, is fiscally almost twice as strong as it is, and also receives bookoo breaks from the federal, state, and local government not available to non-tribal entities?

I am aware that there are impressive oyster shell middens at several locations on the east coast and the early colonists observed the Indians harvesting oysters but I don’t see evidence that they were engaged in what would be called oyster farming. They simply collected some of what was growing naturally. Are there oyster shell middens in the Puget Sound region? I think the JKT would have a hard time arguing that they have a right to farm because they have been doing it since time immemorial. But then they haven’t had casinos, golf courses and hotels since time immemorial either but that hasn’t stopped them.

When I see a dog with a homeless person holding a sign that says "need money for food"... it breaks my heart knowing these dogs are not being fed. Homeless people do not need pets. In that particular video, the guy with the blue shirt and tan pants, crumbling up the foil, is the same guy who has the brown Pitbull on Front St. During the winter season, that dog was shaking from the cold-wet conditions. It could never get relief to get warm.
Just the other day, as I came to work, that same guy was slumped over on Front St-- passed out. The dog, was in the dog-bike trailer.
Imo, if Clallam County WANTS this garbage of drug addicts/homeless, they are responsible 100% for the welfare of what goes with it: Human, Animal, and Environment Destruction.

Even low income people might be stretching the dollars to have it done. Middle income too when they have to pay full fare. Or do we begin with kill centers? IMO we would get much more bang for our bucks with a mobile vet van parked in a church parking lot doing spay and neutering, than a church empty parking lot. We can no longer depend on just law enforcement. Once a complaint is filed, the next step is to approach our City Councils and County Commissioners to see this evidence and repeatedly publicly comment on this overlooked abuse. If these leaders don't see the continued harm to humans, maybe they'll have more sympathy for the animals.

Glen, I have another concern with land back and being sovereign....people are fighting against Data Centers. In the past five years there have been many 'energy educational and school grants' to JST. How would we fight a Data Center being built on Sovereign Land, water or no water? Apparently water shortages aren't a concern to JST, even when the fish are dying, wells are going dry but they have a luscious green golf course. Who can stop this abuse by the 'stewards' of the land.

I have been following the Data Centers going up or proposed around the country on Native Business News, it is a hot topic. I'm sure it will come to our county sooner or later. In the old days we called these people bums. They were mostly alcoholics not druggies. They were there because they were looking for a job or freebies but o public assistance was available. My friend, her 3 dogs and I have walked Peabody between 2nd and 5th for several years. We have now stopped because it is too dangerous for us and the dogs. It is also heartbreaking driving through that section. My out of town relative who has visited for several years was shocked driving on Peabody.

Not only was Mke French short with Administrator Mielke once, but twice during yesterday's meeting. I was quite surprised. Usually they are falling over each other to be polite, but that's not what we witnessed at all during the whole meeting.

Clearly "we" are at a crossroads and IF this November's midterms are held on schedule, we have a great opportunity to demonstrate our displeasure with Mike French and the criminal communist cabal in government management~! Better yet, we can make sure that there is no doubt of the direction that "we" now demand for Clallam County to be on, and that sure isn't a socialist/communist agenda! NO, we do NOT want the shysters in government management to surrender OUR public lands to any other entity or government, regardless of the insane filthy lies that they or anyone else spews! OUR public land is OUR public land, so you filthy thieving clowns who think otherwise can go screw yourselves! We are not about to let you communists rewrite history and no one alive today committed any wrongs against the American Indians of over 100 years ago. In fact, the American Indians who are alive here today, have every opportunity to excel in any way that they legitimately want! Earn your own way in life, just like the rest of us, or it is YOUR fault for failing to make something of yourself! Join with the rest of us to force the government to do right by ALL of us together!

Off topic. I inadvertently came across comments that were replies to my posts on NextDoor! They were always antagonistic towards what ever the topic was. That got lost in the nasty mud slinging.
Noticed if I asked why that was allowed to be posted, I just disappeared. What is the point of NextDoor? I can’t believe I wasted time on that Site and almost zero problem solving occurred.

I stuck it out because having already deleted FB I have limited access to local social media info. But I just block those who make those type of comments on anyone's post because I see their agenda.
Now my Nextdoor feed is mainly missing and found pets and local business reviews. I am mostly there for the cats at this point.
In the old days we called these people bums. They were mostly alcoholics not druggies. They were there because they were looking for a job or freebies but o public assistance was available. Most of them got tired of that life and moved on. Today we treat them like royalty and call them sick and homeless. Move them out of the city and MAKE the get well to survive. That is the only solution to help them. We should not have to change our paths of life because of them. Tax dollars have no value to be spent on addicts like we do. This is hard reality and seems like I am being selfish but it is true. Wake up CC before they keep telling u that u should support them more

Thank you Jeff, more importantly thank you Commissioner Ozias, for setting the record straight. This is the behavior I appreciate from any elected official, even those whose policies I don't wholesale support.
My friend, her 3 dogs and I have walked Peabody between 2nd and 5th for several years. We have now stopped because it is too dangerous for us and the dogs. It is also heartbreaking driving through that section. My out of town relative who has visited for several years was shocked driving on Peabody.
Juanie, Mike French says Port Angeles is a safe place to live. Obviously, it isn't.
