Good governance is not measured by who wins the appropriation; it is measured by whether public money is spent for a clear public purpose, through an open process, with benefits the public can see.
I don't know how many times I've read a quote by Ron Allen saying something along the lines of "we didn't have to do it but we did, only bigger and better". Of course you did, you didn't have to pay for it. You built it bigger and better because it's easy to spend other people's money.
I wonder why we have not heard about the big drug bust at the casino. It was a big drug ring working out of 7 Cedars for awhile and 5 people were arrested with cash, weapons and lots of drugs. Happened Friday night have not seen much news except Seattle stations.
KONP had one and a press release was put out by the Sheriff's but now that you mention it I don't recall seeing anything in the PDN or Gazette. They both did cover the standoff in Agnew which in some way lead them to the casino. Funny they'd cover one and not the other. Or maybe not so funny?
Well there ya go...it was posted on the home page of the Gazette yesterday and today it appeared on page 2 of the online paper. The PDN posted it today and it's on page 4. I guess a big drug bust in little Sequim doesn't warrant front page news.
Kathy, he's very proud of his Xmas lights, ask yourself how it is possible? Who is paying the electric bill (or rather what portion is the Tribe responsible for?) What "funding" allows the extravaganza? Who profits? How come driving through Blyn shows so much wealth then you hit Sequim....then Port Angeles. All in the same county. It's a bread crumb of wealth going downward after the Jamestown "reservation".
I saw an overhead pic of all the lights for the first time this past Christmas, unbelievable, I didn't realize there were so many and that was only Blyn, not what they have in town. From a November 2025 PDN article: "Over the years, as Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe enterprises have expanded, so have the number of lights. They now number more than 3 million and the budget is about a half-million dollars."
Thanks for covering Brave Chapmans list of give a ways.
The projects do have some merit great.
But how about our needs as you mention.
Hiway 112 has a stream on a dangerous curve that's been flowing across both lanes for months. WE were just lucky we didn't have a really hard freeze or some family killed by hydroplaing.
The black top is now busting up. The entire road grade needs to be raised. While they are at it they could take or soften the curve out.
So where are the funds? Show me the money Chapman.
Roads...what roads? Not on Indian land...not interested!
If the government wasn't completely self-absorbed and corrupt, we could have the National Guard and Corps of Engineers building and rebuilding our rural roads.
But, NOOOOOOOOOO!
Too busy squandering money on special projects for the wealthy elite...shut up and pay up, Clallam County Taxpayers, or stop paying the f'ing taxes!🤮
Highway 112 has a STREAM flowing across it? Could it have held the ghosts of salmon past? Now you've gone and done it Joe...another bridge and roundabout! Gifts galore from us ; )
There's a four letter word that starts with F. The F word is FISH and FISHING RIGHTS. For a Tribe of just 500 people, how come they have no limits, and how come under "subsistence" they are allowed to export as many of OUR fish, for profit, to other countries?
There has to be drainege plugged. Working at times to get out of the house. This time out 112. Person working for called to warn me about the ice on the corner, extremely slick. Called DOT. When I got there ,there was a wreck. Fire truck blocking lane, county sheriff. Common sense should prevail. Open the drain.
It is the biggest tribe on planet earth. This particular tribe pays the most taxes in order for some tribes to pay nothing or very little.I do not know who came up with the name fargarwe which is spelled differently by some but some just say who-the-fuk-are-we lol.
The Peninsula is beautiful indeed but after five years of living in Sequim, with a raise in my property taxes every single year, I saw the writing on the wall. On so many levels; homelessness, crime, lack of accountability Clallam County is in lockstep with CA, where I moved from. I was very fortunate to sell my home and move out of WA state in early January. It is not that I mind paying taxes, but when there is no visible or experienced return, I am out.
The Library is finished almost a year late and wasteful spending complete. The people that oversaw this project were incompetent and did not have a clue in the project construction.
It was the most wasteful project I have seen in my 40 years in the business. Now they want more money because they wasted 6.2m for a 2m dollar castle. The homeless should have this library taken over in a few months. I wonder which building will be condemned first the PBH condos or the new library? Vote NO on giving any money to these idiots.
Jeff, a very direct article that explains why we taxpaying citizens are fuming at every government level. A sovereign nation, like the JKT, is dependent on its neighbor for financial survival? This is a long standing tribal nation that has multiple enterprises bringing in solid profits. Why do they need, deserve, all the tax breaks? The federal, state, and local gov'ts need to cut the apron strings and let the spoiled child join the adults.
The Tribe Denise Lapio missed a golden opportunity. If The Tribe would have constructed thirty or forty "day care" centers on Washington the profits would have been enormous.
I totally get it now. From top to bottom our state has the craziest elected officials. Our property tax went up almost 1k and it's all going to the tribal Mafia.
Our commissioners just follow the playbook approved by their donors.

The Straight Shooter had an interesting article today how St Patrick had rid Ireland of snakes.
Perhaps those ideas could be adapted locally to assist in ridding the county of the "snakes" in government? Great CCWD today, Jeff, or was it a CCMADDOG?
My property tax is now costing me 700/month. A MONTH !! So, with mortgage paid, I still do not own my property. Never will. Not in this state/countyt. What's the point? I watch all these projects being done on our money, while the county takes half of my retirement a month. Obviously I have and do work hard to pay bills, and have no mortgage, but I cannot continue here. I will go broke and NEVER retire fully. Unfortunately, whomever takes my place here will most likely adhere to the same policies we are fighting. I am racking my brain to justify what incentive there is to remain here. We don't live forever. But I have not found a reason to stay and work through retirement for benefits I can't see. I was shocked when I opened my tax bill. The county took away a haying exemption I had on 5 acres because I wasn't selling hay and keeping books, and paying taxes on it. Added 1,500. to my bill. (which was already too high), Can't bale hay until the daisy's are under control. County won't help with that. Both sides of my field are covered in daisy's and the land owners don't care. County sent me a "senior" application to lower my tax. It is so cumbersome and honestly, you would have to be dirt poor to qualify. It's a no win situation.
BTW, to all land owners who think the daisy's are "soooo pretty", they are a noxious weed, that take over hay fields, ruin hay, are detrimental to neighboring property, extremely hard to kill, and love to take over forest land, pastures, lawns, etc. THEY ARE NOT PRETTY.
I understand what you are saying. Too many people who have 'land' don't caretake it properly. I have issues with 'new weeds' to my land this year, due to people next to me, not caring about keeping grass/weeds mowed down, to not spread the seeds. It's maddening.
Clallam County has turned into an area where only the elite will be living. They can easily do a sweep and get rid of the homeless/drug people. The gov has taken so many places from us here. Too many 'Passes' are required anymore.
KX I believe that the super elite fled to Florida because of the estate tax. A likely scenario would indicate that more homeless and dope dealers will move here.
Isn’t it a bitch to feel great about paying off a mortgage only to find the taxes, insurance and utilities that keep going up are holding us as financial prisoners. No wonder people get forced out of their homes.
Don’t blame the daisies, they just grow wherever the seeds take them. Why isn’t our illustrious government ag dept helping you make your land profitable? I guess you could threaten to cover the hay with copious amounts of http://Roundup.At
At least that might get some attention. Wonder who has an eye on your property and hoping you fail so it can be purchased. I have my guess and I bet your problems would disappear under new ownership. Welcome to Washington, the weather sucks and the government will screw the tax dollars right out of you. Don’t get me started on the bullshit that school levy’s are based on. We must have some redeeming quality…..ummmm, nope!
A segment of the local tribes has decided to bite the hands that have been good to them over the years. Note the Democrats’ role.
That’s right, “good to them.” But let’s assume all their lies about how our ancestors stole their land and mistreated them are true. No one today was involved. Why are they being punished?
One thing obviously missing is forgiveness. Where does forgiveness fit in the world view of the tribes? I don’t see it. I observe racial hatred and revenge.
When the settlers came, a new way of doing things came too with huge cultural differences. That was the real struggle for many, which some now think they can reverse. Land and resource use, stealing, cheating and hurting your neighbor; it’s all part of “time immemorial.” But not my time immemorial.
Louis L’amour ,1987 Haunted Mesa. It was time white men understood that most of the Indians found in possession were latecomers, and all too little was known about who had preceded them.
10 foot tall red-haired giants remains were found in 'the mounds'...Abe Lincoln talked about it in a speech at Niagra Falls way back when...somebody is lying to us, all along the way!
Smithsonian Institute, a private corporation, has hidden/buried many anomalous 'finds'...to control the narrative apparently. Who knows why?
As long as beggars get what they want by using pity excuses and ignorants keep gulping it down then beggars will keep begging laughing all the to the bank. This is a very lucrative skill the tribes have mastered over the decades. If federal govt had any brain cells attached they would demand legit tribal audits before anymore $$$ get's sent out.
I find it ironic the amount of money going to the tribes keep increasing and increasing when their tribal population decreases and they have become more and more wealthy and independent. Funny how that works? When do the kids ever become independent grow up and become productive adults in society? Are the white folk going to forever be paying for crimes WE THE TAXPAYERS never did? What a SCAM!
Don Beeman I agree. We are all products of the process called Evolution. Power shapes our universe. Indigenous people were primitive savages because survival depended upon those characteristics. When Columbus arrived, the natives had no written language. Naturally the Europeans took the fullest advantage of them, and their lives were improved by a modern civilization.
Just wait till more federal funds dry up. WA state is breaking federal laws, making up their own rules when it comes to taxpayers spending. Sanctuary States will soon be cut off. Democrats spin their spending as being for the children and the working class. In reality taxpayers money is going to illegal immigrants, NGO'S, public defenders, and "harm reduction" programs. What about the harm to our way of life? Sad part is property owners are moving away, but these Democrats don't care because it provides houses for liberal California people moving up here. Look what's happening in Sequim! JUST VOTE NO TO ANY LEVY LIFTS! why should property owners be bailing out irresponsible spending??? The library is already getting property taxes. What is their overhead that requires more $$$$?
I do not understand how state taxpayers are financially responsible for increasingly borrowed money being available to federally recognized sovereign nations. I firmly believe the list of donations is only part of the compensation received in some form or another. It simply is not an equitable situation. I am really trying to control myself here
What you didnt mention was the money for Sovereign Nations through BIA grants, operations, building, businesses, plus the fact that medical facilities nationwide get fully funded Medicare and Medicaid coverage, unlike the public reimbursement rates of around 30% on a dollar. BIA is money from federal INCOME TAX, which we pay. So there is a lot of benefit to being Tribal.
Jean, you're right. The list is as long as your arm. A little here, a little there. IMO the health care benefits are something all Americans should have, not just a sovereign nation who is inside and supported by the US sovereign nation. Healthcare is huge, and yes, the Tribes are cashing in on it.
The four tribe-related capital projects highlighted by Sen. Chapman total $12 million--23 percent of the $53 million appropriated to District 24. I look forward to CCW's analysis of where the other $41 million (77 percent) will go.
That's an interesting point, Herb. 23% of the funds appropriated to the entire district go to less than 3% of the population. I don't know where the rest of the $53 million went; that is all Chapman highlighted in his email.
None of the AI's like or support the idea of 'conspiracy' or 'conspiracies', preferring to look at it through other lenses as happenstance or collaboration or a confluence of interests.
This is pure gaslighting bullshit.
There may be the other 'factors' involved but conspiracy is, in fact, the top agent of governmental control mechanisms.
People (or ET's) HAVE to get together to 'hatch' the plans and the spending for ALL of the taxpayer-funded projects 'they' have lined up for 'us'.
The 'us' they are funding on behalf of is the wealthy elite and 'we' pick up the tab for all the infrastructure and ancillary costs.
When they say 'taxpayer funded', it means the money load is heaped upon the $40 Trillion in DEBT 'they' assess and borrow.
There is NO possibility of ever retiring that debt...it will only grow until collapse takes place.
We currently borrow money from 'The Fed' to pay the interest on the ballooning debt at the national level.
We are going to end up 'borrowing' against our home equities just to pay the tax debt we are being saddled with.
"None Dare Call It Conspiracy" was written in the 60's to expose the powers that be...nothing has changed but the scale of the fraud and conspiratorial graft and corruption has increased exponentially!
Make no mistake, the state of washington and clallam county (small case intentional) is corrupt top to bottom and will financially ruin what's left of the middle class.
Nice to see all the Jake Seeger banners around the county...best wishes!😎
The AI should not be considered a valuable time saving creation. It dumbs people down. It often does not understand the context behind a query. Not only that, if conspiracy theories are not recognized then AI is obsolete!

Will the fargarwe tribe ever get recongnized or just get used for tax $$$ for others.
UFO, who is the fararwe tribe? I must have missed or forgot it. I'm sure it's here somewhere in CCWD, but remind me. ; )

D. Marie, I'm glad you are still staying in touch.
Once D. Marie experiences a freezing winter or a boiling hot summer she will return and join the battle against government corruption.
That is distressing news D. Marie. I agree with your sentiment. Personally I hate paying taxes for any reason.

Nice to see all the Jake Seeger banners around the county...best wishes!😎
The AI should not be considered a valuable time saving creation. It dumbs people down. It often does not understand the context behind a query. Not only that, if conspiracy theories are not recognized then AI is obsolete!
Hoping somebody asks Mikey how he voted on the new "millionaire" income tax at the Coffee with Colleen on Wednesday. Grill him!
