Cheers to you Jeff Tozzer~!

The more that these unscrupulous and manipulative people try to spin & hide the truth, the more we all need to push back to correct the historic record~! Please do keep up the great work~!

I appreciate your labors. Almost all of your reporting is covering woefully neglected issues that need to be discussed yet go unaddressed by both the radio and local papers. Thank you for your time and tenacity!

One of the articles hits hard. Why the need for the Makah tribe to hunt whales?

According to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) “Whaling remains essential to Makah CULTURE, IDENTITY, CEREMONIES and SUBSISTENCE and is, simply put, part of who the Makah are.  Gray whales are a predominant component of the ocean resources that have always sustained the Tribe and CANNOT BE REPLACED BY OTHER RESOURCES.”

IWC: “The Makah Indian Tribe’s cultural and subsistence need includes an average of FOUR GRAY WHALES PER YEAR with a maximum of five gray whales in any one year.”

The Makah tribal needs for subsistence is met beyond the need of whale meat, they have an over abundance of fishing rights, they are not starving. There is no justification to hunt whales under culture, identity or ceremonies. Read below what the killing of just one whale can do to the population.

KOMO NEWS..."Big Mama is a perfect example of how important a single whale can be to a population," said Gless. "She was first seen in 1997 and was one of the first humpbacks to return to the Salish Sea after the end of commercial whaling in 1966. She’s been returning ever since and now has at least eight calves, seven grandcalves, and four great-grandcalves. It’s very impressive!"

Their whale hunting is not hunting, it is murder which deprives us all of these magnificent and intelligent creatures.

You can't see whale tears...so they don't exist.😳

I saw a Russian 'whaler' up close when I was 16, working on a fishing boat...Humpbacks and blood everywhere...they would keep the boats at sea until they started sinking... then abandon them...transfer the crews (if they were lucky) and carry on...not dissing Russia...we all did it!

For us Middle and Early Boomers you probably remember there used to be a Nationally Syndicated Newspaper Column written by Jack Anderson detailing WFA. Waste, Fraud Abuse. Jack Anderson's column being widely syndicated often shaped National Politics. He was a powerful voice and not without controversy. Hated by Hoover and Nixon. Anderson broke the Iran Contra scandal. He exposed issues of the day and the exposed the underbelly and seedy dealings of entrenched bureaucrats like Hoover. I grew up in a home that received the daily newspaper and two newspapers on Sunday. As my reading grew more sophisticated I transitioned from first reading the Comics (elementary school) to Sports (High School) to the Front Page (my 20's). The demise of accurate news and opposing viewpoints is detrimental to healthy communities. It allows for those in power to create policy and direct resources without critical debate. It reinforces the power of incumbency. To be referred as the "Crotch Dog" in my opinion is compliment to Jeff. Like investigative Journalists before you have struck a nerve. You won't be without controversy. Occasionally you'll swing and miss. Opposing views are needed. The "Crotch Dog" is becoming in this readers opinion a valuable community asset. That CCWD has been referred to as "The Crotch Dog" should be worth another several hundred subscribers. The more those with reins of power howl the more CCWD is able to drive an opposing opinion.

Once again great job Jeff.

Optics, optics, optics….it is always about what you don’t see. Back in the day there were “fact finders”. A “fact finder” would go out and gather facts through interviews, documentation and investigation, it was the norm to dig and dig for the real facts not just how it appeared or someone was told this is how it is, hidden, or dismissed. Fact finding was the downfall of the controllers, management, because fact finding allowed the “real” facts to be discovered, presented and known. Facts carry weight. Without fact finding people are powerless and discarded. Jeff keep “fact finding”, keep searching and presenting what we don’t see because it is very important to have balance something we have lost along the way.

Marketing sells products or ideas, don’t report crime=great place to live and visit. Don’t show how the whales are slaughtered=canoe joyriding. Don’t present or answer all the details regarding “Water Steward” position=water utopia.

Papai, we have our own "Nader's Raiders" going on. I remember how truly confident I felt in The Nader Report.

The subscribers of CCWD are also contributing and researching for "fact finding", along with the many comments, gives food for thought and investigation. I know it has for me.

I do not subscribe to PDN or the Sequim Gazette, I do however read My Clallam County because it is free. Too many times I have read the locale Facebook post who warn citizens of crimes and scams happening in the community but rarely mentioned in My Clallam County.

I then found CCWD for added local news. Both free sources (Facebook and CCWD) have led me to believe that the county is trying to paint the picture of CC as being more Normal Rockwell than the “The Scream” by Edward Munch. CC has major, major problems. The County Commissioners are presenting a false reality in order to justify the disastrous decisions they have made... which are then backed up by local news...who are then asking to be financially supported by the tax payers. What’s wrong with this picture?

Jennifer, ditto. I’m willing to bet people laid off were partly the result of Towne Road expenditures, million dollar apartment complex for the drug/mental health individuals, free transportation, free drug paraphernalia and the band wagon goes on. It is liken to a sinking ship and bailing faster isn’t keeping the ship afloat. There are a lot of good needed services & programs however, as past and present shows we’ve got to do better even if it means saying “NAY” (Water Steward=no)

Crotch Dog comment. Sniffing out "imaginary" problems? Best way to combat demeaning comments is to expose the underbelly. Years ago my spouse and I requested a data dump of property taxes. We loaded the raw meta data on Linux software and ran reports. We exposed multiple discrepancies in property taxes including politicians, POB addresses and assessments for similarly situated lots. This was 20 yrs ago. Way before DOGE or AI software. But essentially we did the same, created a software to analyze raw data and sort via names, POB and taxes. We wrote a letter to the editor. The next day we got a call from the brother of a police officer requesting a private meeting with the mayor at a local Italian restaurant owned by a former county commissioner-executive, who he himself could be labeled "mob likeness." Hence to say, data doesn't lie. It exposes the underbelly. Get the raw data and expose the discrepancies. Then watch how the Crotch Dog adversaries defend their governance.

I enjoyed these snippets. A lot to catch up on, indeed. You are right, Jeff. You are making a real difference, and those that thought they could railroad "the little people" are not liking us being informed. Much to their dismay you and CCWD are becoming popular with the billboard, fair booths, and now t-shirts. Only the weak are afraid of competition.

RE: The woman with the flowers. I saw her by QFC standing by the light panhandling with flowers. The next day I saw her by the intersection near Washington and Priest Road. Again trying to panhandle with flowers. Perhaps I am mistaken but I believe there is an anti-solicitation panhandling sign erected on W. Washington near Home Depot.
