Why is Ozias on the County payroll again? Between Allen, his non-profit North Olympic Land Trust, and his devotion to the Washington Association of Counties, what good is he? He's not doing any county business. He lied about not knowing about this proclamation, can we fire him for this?

Not without an enforceable Code of Ethics for elected officials... and that's what is on your ballot this November (a proposed Charter Review amendment).

SOME are voting against this.

This speaks volumes.. ya know?

Ozias must lose a lot of money at the casino. That way it comes back to the Tribe non disclosable.

Someone give Ozias a baby wipe to clean his brown nose!

Be careful you will be called racist and a Nazi

Your articles, Jeff, and public comments at BoCC meetings have been effective in revealing how bogus the proclamations are. I felt his response that he didn't know how the Indigenous one was begun was stunning. He had to have known someone (wink, wink) would research and find out. How embarrassing.

I was just telling my hairdresser the other day that I would be devastated if I got caught lying like this.

Another brilliant memory lapse from the Dems. I think they have come down with the dreadful disease that affects our leaders. MENTALPAUSE!

LOL! And they will get away with this, too. The shame of it all....

Any government official who blatantly lies should be automatically removed from their position.

We would have nobody left.

Good! That leaves plenty of space for Jake and Virginia!

In a few weeks it’s my sincere hope that Mike French will be voted out office. Seegers has run a balanced energetic campaign filled with common sense.

Then it will be Ozias time to be challenged.

Looking forward to seeing if Jake’s campaign has inspired other common sense citizens to serve the County.

Lawrence, I'm optimistic:

From the October 10-11 edition of the Peninsula Daily News:

Jake Seegers has raised $83,551.23 in campaign contributions from 267 donors.

Mike French has raised $25,149.46 in campaign contributions from 80 donors.

Doing the math:

Seegers’ average contribution is $312.93 per donor.

French’s average contribution is $314.37 per donor.

Seegers’ donors outnumber French’s by better than a 3:1 margin.

Reason to hope!

I like it when Loni does that performance because I know it made Kurt proud when she did it. I am sure her Grandmother Elaine taught her their culture for years. Its not honoring them that bothers me. Its them getting even that does....the oppression Olympics..retribution with the European Colonizer...etc.

'Engaging in the ultimate round of the Oppression Olympics, the tribe went for the gold in historical payback and sweet revenge, locking in their getback, settling a centuries-old score, and serving the ultimate old white man, Uncle Sam, his just deserts like a heavy dose of cosmic karma.' signed, A. Replace the proclamation with four words: Diversity is our strength. Watch what happens.

The Sat/Sun issue of the PDN noted that the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe had contributed to the French campaign race for commissioner.

"All three Commissioners are keen to follow up on your suggestion ..."

I don't see any proof that the indigenous people's day proclamation was originally Ron Allen's idea.
