Federally recognized sovereign nations are not comparable to United States, Washington state, county, city, and other jurisdictions, to be clear. Government to government relationships need to honor a common understanding regardless of their individual cultural heritage/identity. Is there an international agreement of how governments are to engage with each other?
After reading this my coffee doesn’t taste as good. I am totally dismayed at the councils lack of backbone as they watch our city go to POT. It angers me so as we elect them and they have pissed all over us. Now they are so ingrained in the system we can’t even vote them out. Sad days ahead unless we act quickly.
I don't know if you have ever attended or watched a recording of their meetings, but I highly recommend that everyone take a few hours out of their day just once to do so, especially last night's. You'll get an understanding of just how bad it is if you can actually stand it for the duration of the meeting to listen to them. For me it's worse than fingernails on chalkboard. I can't take them.
Well, as they say, the fish stinks from the head down! We knew this was gonna happen. There’s gotta be a way to block it and vote these bastards out. Isn’t there a way that we can go to the federal government and show how many people were against this in the county? I’m kind of a newbie at this year, but I’m learning fast.
The Tribe's comments about the Trump admin. "streamlining" and "efficiency" have nothing to do with the tribe's pressuring gov. to "streamline" their land back shtick. It is simply not the same nor comparable. And yeah, where IS the County of Clallam? This is much more than 'going along to get along.'
You’re absolutely right it’s a bait and switch! I sat at that meeting when the three minions came in from the tribe and swore up and down that they were not gonna do any oyster farming and they were gonna pay their taxes. It was all I could do to keep my mouth shut because I knew they were lying through their teeth and so did everybody else! Now as far as Protection Island if the Indians were never there and had residence there, we should be able to keep that from happening if we go to the federal government, isn’t that correct? We might have a chance of that not going through at least. What are your thoughts?

From the Shaman to the hammer and sickle, Sequim sucks the other way now.
The Council is a cancer to the health of the county.

Excuse me, I believe they did go there, but it was not sustainable to them so they left it alone and never had residence there.
