I don't know Jeff but I think we now have a "bad relationship" going on here.

If they aint lying they aint talking.

Now, they don't even want to see.

We need our own DOGE.

If we had a Clallam County DOGE it could, among other acts, rename the Bureau of Indian Affairs to Bureau of Indian Assets and have an investigation division called DDD, Department of Double Dipping.

Three days in a row of excellent and informative reads...thank you, Jeff. Frequently find oneself shaking the head side to side with clinched teeth, while bile rises in the throat and anger rises in the head, but still LOVE the read...so worth it! Corrupt Clown County...who would of known...

I believe I have the answer to your beginning primary question. Quid pro quo is a contributor, but not the primary reason The Jamestown Tribe gets the job. Some now long dead non-aboriginal made a deal with a now long dead aboriginal and the non-aboriginal renegued on the deal. I do not know what the price of a national guilty conscience might be, but it is getting very costly. Our entire planet has a history of civilization, country and society conquering. In my opinion the price is paid and the BIA must be dissolved. No more dual citizenship within our borders.

I agree "No more dual citizenship." The truth is there was a war and the native Americans or First People LOST!!! If they wanted to keep their lands/reservations then that would/could have been kind of us....and they should be Americans, period. Please let me know of any other country that had a war and allowed those that lost to keep their lands?

Clallam county seems to have issues of accountability commissioners wasting millions on drug addicts and tribal issues that county should stay out of,throwing more money at the mismanaged humane society.Millions of $$$ going out the door for issues that will probably keep costing Tax$$$.When was the last time county spent millions on road repair for the run down alleys throughout P.A. like it is supposed to do.

I don't understand why District Attorneys aren't all over this looking into self dealing, conflict of interest, and the fact that elected officials are also running the NGOs that they vote to give County money to, and are collecting "expenses" from? Sounds very crooked to me.

Such a sad state of affairs when you think of Habitat and the Humane Society suffering from cronyism. Has Habitat broken the law by not allowing a competitive bid process? Or, is this one of those instances where its legal but just sleazy. Cost analysis on the Humane Society could be interesting versus a private contractor for same services.

Jeff Tozzer's avatar

I don't know, Lawrence. The County never talked about the fate of that $800,000 again. The county's attorneys were looking into the legality of it and things were on pause last I heard. I wish I could share more information with you. The commissioners won't answer questions about our money and either will Habitat for Humanity, so we are left to wonder.

To be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may not be an action organization, i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates. The exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals. The term charitable is used in its generally accepted legal sense and includes relief of the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged; advancement of religion; advancement of education or science; erecting or maintaining public buildings, monuments, or works; lessening the burdens of government; lessening neighborhood tensions; eliminating prejudice and discrimination; defending human and civil rights secured by law; and combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency. Still looking at this. "Bad relationship" here?

The more that is exposed about the relationship between the County, Habitat for Humanity, and the partnership with the Tribe, the more confused I get. I truly believe that many others share my confusion, and probably don't get involved because if it. But all of these matters have these things in commmon: constant lack of transparency, selective responses from those in charge, and deliberate efforts of deception and misdirection. So, thank you, Jeff, for the amazing job you do everyday to help us understand the county's complex situations. I know it's not easy!

I think the writing is on the wall with this new $2.6 millio housing project which will probably increase.JKT was awarded the contract initially in a illegal manner which the county commissioners knew was illegal because they know county regulations but did it anyway to see if they could getaway with it.Because of certain protest i think county lawyer got involved and forced corrupt commissioners to renege on contract to eliminate possible lawsuits. If assumptions are right why are commissioners approving mass million $$$ housing for tribal members when they already get free housing from federal govt.It does appear commissioners are being compromised by JKT and are violating their oath and should be recalled -impeached ect for their lies- wasteful illegal decisions.

Transparency is like being pregnant, you either are or you are not and in both cases someone is definitely getting screwed when the question/answer is in doubt~! There is no such thing as "sort of pregnant or sort of transparent~! No one has to EVER "work for transparency" which is always the statement of a liar because real transparency just is, or it is not by intentional obfuscations & manipulations~! HA! I absolutely LOVE the old "shysters two step" of these low mentality fools and idiots who keep evading answering VERY easy questions that they would obviously have to know the answers to. I was born into and raised in the world of honorable "personnel management" at the highest executive level, and after monitoring this highly questionable "Indian Tribal liaison position" that was recently decided upon by hiring a dubious Individual with a questionable & suspicious very "convenient" work history, I would bet that there never was an official written job description in the first place. There was likely a shady internal need for a "go between" that already had a specific Individual set to take that job on the down low, and it was never intended to ever be open to anyone else. That is, however, consistent with the same underhanded tactics of refusing to allow the traditional and more up front public job bidding process to all interested companies for construction work... These low-level criminals are really something special and it would make for a great TV comedy script if it was not SO tragic for our community~! As it just so happens, I myself once applied for an Indian Tribe liaison position in another state that I then lived in and I did very well except that there was one other job applicant who had that same job experience for a very short period of time, so he got that job. Oh, and that job was actually posted in the local newspaper and other local flyers, so it was open to anyone, with the completely TRANSPARENT notice that Individuals with Indian ancestry would receive preferential treatment. Yes, I have American Indian ancestry, so my comments are never "racist", but as an American Constitutionalist I can't just sit by and tolerate ANY criminal behavior that steals public funds for the favor of special select interest groups at the expense of all others. I would also like to point out that I am personally unaware of ANY local taxpayer supported/subsidized "housing" that is as glorious of a success as is stated by these same well-known manipulators of the truth~! Is it not by definition a dramatic "failure" to have folks in our community and country who even require subsidized housing in the

first place? Yes, there are always some who are truly in need of help, but with the grotesque anti-human policies & regulations that currently exist in our own government that keep folks from making their own financial way in life, just how much of this "publicly funded housing" is due to the same out-of-control government that has killed more businesses, careers, and jobs than Raid has killed bugs over the years~??? We can do MUCH better~!!! Sincerely, Mike

True. The history of humans is easily seen by simply going to historical maps of conquest and migration of humans over thousands of years. Better yet, read the history of human conquests. There is thousands of years of conquerors and the vanquished. To judge human behaviors by today’s values is to ignore the historical eras from which human behaviors occurred. We all migrated from somewhere else. Hypothesized based on research, Asians braved the perilous Pacific waters to settle this particular part of the continent. The northern land bridge is another route.

Europeans thousands of years ago braved the perilous Atlantic to discover the eastern part of our linked continent. The South America continent migrants traveled north…and so on …. No need to feel any amount of “ guilt” over thousands of years of various migrants landing on this continent . We only “owe”kindness and care to all historical migrants.
