After yesterday’s Recompete presentation on Coffee with Colleen, the team encouraged anyone with questions to reach out. I did so by email, and asked a basic question about how much of the Recompete funding is going toward administration and overhead.
Rather than answer the question, my email was forwarded to the Public Records Department, which created unnecessary confusion. I was not requesting a public record—I was simply asking the Recompete team a question about how taxpayer funds are being used. My email also went unacknowledged by the Recompete team.
As chair of the Recompete Coalition, how can the public gain visibility into these very basic questions about spending, administration, subawards, and outcomes if the team you lead is unwilling to answer them directly?
I would appreciate a response, particularly to the question of how much of the $35.6 million award is being spent on administration and how much is reaching the intended workforce and job-creation efforts.
Mr French Fry should also be asked why the PAHA 24 unit is being done by a GC in Redmond Wa and not a local one. They did keep the electrical local. The per unit price is off the chart. Another great investment for CC.😫Actually the Tribe uses more local labor for big projects than our cities.As much as u DONT want to hear that the Tribe buys the lighting and gear whenever possible locally. The schools we are paying for do not buy very much locally. Go figure and we have money spent to try and provide employment . Kind of a problem I see . I believe French has stated that he was on the committee that hired Pringle. He was asked your questions during a BoCC meeting and fumbled over his words as they spilled out why he considered her the best person for the job. He couldn't give one solid reason.

If Government ever succeeded in making some minority a majority, a new minority is then born. There is no win to be gained in pursuing minority-ism. We’re doing a very special two-part series. Friday we’re talking Grants, Competition, and the Solo Trade Reality. Fun fact: The Strait Shooter used to work in hydroseeding decades ago when we first met, and he’s a solo trade business now; so he’s coming from a place of hands-on experience of working in the trades for decades and making a successful business out here that supports our household.
That will lead into part 2 on Saturday which may ruffle some feathers but it’s something that I approach from a private sector business and economic development perspective in an area that is economically distressed with a heavy reliance on government grants to save people: Westbay, Seabrook, and the Cost of Driving Growth Away.
Based on my research, Seabrook was all private sector development, meaning they didn’t have to rely on government funding to tell them who they could and couldn’t hire, unliked Recompete.
As well, Westbay is a 20+ year development project which my research shows could generate $250 million to $500 million in economic impact just in that time, not counting after the project is fully developed and homes need continued maintenance. At $250 million, that averages out to $50 million for 5 years. Recompete is only $35.6 million of tax dollars for 5 years split between 2 counties with requirements that the private sector never has.
This is what interests me most about the Westbay development, whether it happens or not — these numbers shouldn’t be ignored when they could help this area survive without relying on government handouts. Growing pains suck, but without growth it is a slow decline. Just look around, the decline is already here and Recompete isn’t changing it.
Someone raised the idea of a federal audit of the NOP Recompete program. Is that really a thing and/or a possibility? How do we get that started? I know we can't expect any assistance from our congresswoman, Emily Randall. She's more likely to defend it and especially any funding for her buddies at JST.
To request a federal audit, you have to go to the inspector general of the department/agency in question.
So I looked up Recompete, which comes from the Economic Development Administration, part of the Department of Commerce.
The federal audit idea could be sunk before it sets sail. The DOC OIG website at https://www.oig.doc.gov/doc-oig-hotline-intro/ says that if the complaint involves a state or local government, the attorney general of that state should be contacted. There’s no way our state attorney general would do anything against his own people.
You are possibly correct but sending the request to the state or local government plus a cc to the federal government could be a start. We are not totally silenced yet. Thanks for the government link also.

Anyone who doubts that last way that people of power are attacked & controlled by the criminals of humanity, and their legions of "useful idiots", should simply ask President Trump how he feels about that process~! Ha Ha Ha Ha! So, it is little wonder why "we" get SO many politicians who are some of the most mentally deraigned Individuals on earth, because real positions of power are absolute magnets for them and definite deterrents to good folks who are smart enough to see the horrors that these positions really are! The ONLY positive solution to this is in the hands of the American people, God help us all, who have to learn of ALL of these things and make sure that this evil old extortion racket is ended, and the criminals of humanity are terminated~! Government was not intended to be a social engineering tool; jumping from one favored minority status of the month to the next. Minority status is ubiquitous and can never not exist. The most common minorities are defined by numbers. The greatest number being the majority and the smallest being a minority in comparison. The socialism quest to attain complete equality is a feel good exercise in futility. We can never be completely "equal". Each of us is genetically unique / a one of. That makes complete equality unattainable. Some are good at bringing rockets back to their launching pad. Others create amazing wood carvings, art of all forms, etc., while some excel at destroying the life they were given. If Government ever succeeded in making some minority a majority, a new minority is then born. There is no win to be gained in pursuing minority-ism. Let Government stick to infrastructure, safety and economic opportunity and let society tend to society.
It is all about the $$$ and who can rip off the most without getting caught and who is allowed not to get caught.

We’re doing a very special two-part series. Friday we’re talking Grants, Competition, and the Solo Trade Reality. Fun fact: The Strait Shooter used to work in hydroseeding decades ago when we first met, and he’s a solo trade business now; so he’s coming from a place of hands-on experience of working in the trades for decades and making a successful business out here that supports our household.
That will lead into part 2 on Saturday which may ruffle some feathers but it’s something that I approach from a private sector business and economic development perspective in an area that is economically distressed with a heavy reliance on government grants to save people: Westbay, Seabrook, and the Cost of Driving Growth Away.
Based on my research, Seabrook was all private sector development, meaning they didn’t have to rely on government funding to tell them who they could and couldn’t hire, unliked Recompete.
As well, Westbay is a 20+ year development project which my research shows could generate $250 million to $500 million in economic impact just in that time, not counting after the project is fully developed and homes need continued maintenance. At $250 million, that averages out to $50 million for 5 years. Recompete is only $35.6 million of tax dollars for 5 years split between 2 counties with requirements that the private sector never has.
This is what interests me most about the Westbay development, whether it happens or not — these numbers shouldn’t be ignored when they could help this area survive without relying on government handouts. Growing pains suck, but without growth it is a slow decline. Just look around, the decline is already here and Recompete isn’t changing it.

Someone raised the idea of a federal audit of the NOP Recompete program. Is that really a thing and/or a possibility? How do we get that started? I know we can't expect any assistance from our congresswoman, Emily Randall. She's more likely to defend it and especially any funding for her buddies at JST.
To request a federal audit, you have to go to the inspector general of the department/agency in question.
So I looked up Recompete, which comes from the Economic Development Administration, part of the Department of Commerce.
The federal audit idea could be sunk before it sets sail. The DOC OIG website at https://www.oig.doc.gov/doc-oig-hotline-intro/ says that if the complaint involves a state or local government, the attorney general of that state should be contacted. There’s no way our state attorney general would do anything against his own people.
You are possibly correct but sending the request to the state or local government plus a cc to the federal government could be a start. We are not totally silenced yet. Thanks for the government link also.
