The commissioners did not reply to yesterday's email asking about the process they use to investigate requests by NGOs before issuing letters of support. Here is today's email sent to the board of the William Shore Memorial Pool:
Dear Pool Board Members Mike French, Randy Johnson, Mark Hodgson, LaTrisha Suggs, and Greg Shield,
When the shower voucher program was reinstated, board members stated that there had been no reported incidents associated with the program. Since then, a local parent has reported that their child picked up what appeared to be a fentanyl patch in a family changing area at the pool, raising concerns about safety in a facility used by families.
Can the Board explain what specific safety protocols are in place for voucher recipients, what training staff receive to identify and respond to potential drug-related hazards, and whether the Board has reconsidered the risks associated with continuing the program?
I am really confused this morning. I recognize there is different lifestyles, sexual preferences, dress attire, and different chemistry make up in our society. What I do not understand is the celebration of a month long lifestyle. No other minority is offered this perk and parades, picnics, free stuff, and so forth monthlong. Are we going to have a homeless month soon?
I am perplexed at what we celebrate with open arms for a month and what we celebrate for a day. I know I will get some backlash on this but it seems like we as Americans we lose our priorities in making celebrations for the minorities more important than soldiers , God, and
Independence Day. Where is the balance? Hope I did not offend anyone.
Veterans get one day. We clean up the area around the bell, move the tents and drug users out of sight for a few hours, and call it good.
But who you sleep with? Apparently that deserves an entire month.
Pride has become so political that it's hard to recognize what it was originally supposed to be about. Everywhere you look, there's another proclamation, another flag, another event, and another reminder that certain groups are supposed to be viewed as victims.
And here's the irony: I've never seen a group spend so much time talking about inclusion while being so quick to shut out anyone who disagrees with them. Every June we're told how diverse and welcoming everything is, but try questioning any part of the agenda and see how much tolerance you get in return.
The whole month of December is about religious celebrations, and we celebrate vets over 3 months (4th of July, Memorial Day and Veteran's Day). Does the queer community need a national month of celebration vs a day? Maybe, maybe not, but these other things are celebrated in smaller ways all the time and are ingrained in our culture.
Thanks for your enlightenment. Maybe we will see a day when we are all equal and not presented as not. I do not see the equality of one day versus a month.

On another note, today is D-Day. Never forget.
