Mike French flat out lied when he said “Our school districts were able to put kids back in school faster than most districts across the country”.
46 other states had their kids back in school before WA kids. WA was one of five states, along with California, Maryland, Oregon and Hawaii, with more than 90% of students learning ONLY online in fall of 2021. At least 60 other districts in WA opened before Clallam county districts.
He flat out lied. I had children in the Sequim district at that time. I take these lies personally. French lied.
There is no question that commercial fishing bycatch (the term used for non-targeted fish species caught by commercial fishermen, then basically discarded over the side) includes a substantial tonnage of salmon. At the same time, anyone who knows anything about salmon harvesting in the Pacific region knows that the tribes (plural), thanks to the Boldt decision, net the living poop out of returning salmon populations. That they are doing so with the long-term sustainability of the resource, or concern for whether or not the orcas have enough chinook to eat, or whether or not there are salmon and steelhead for non-tribal anglers to catch, is questionable at best.
