You think that’s bad. Look into our local schools that received over $200m in levy money and to date it has been spent with outside GC and EC companies. Korsmo did use Olympic Electric on the Neah Bay school. Olympic did purchase 100% of the material local. The Public Safety Bldg is being done by Outside our county companies also. They do not use local workers in most cases. When our CC and cities want another levy we should demand the money be spent here. LOL
Is the JST investment in healthcare altruism or yet another money printing machine ? I am not intimate with the many ways our Government funds the blood quantum of native/indigenous/tribal peoples, but it has reached a point of absurdity. The Bureau of Indian Affairs, as example, is both antiquated and completely unnecessary. The indigenous people we keep throwing money at are all dead. Their progeny have casinos, computers, cell phones and hands free driving. The JSK has taken the casino cashed social security and retirement checks and invested that in petroleum, healthcare, excavation, cannabis and other businesses. I applaud their success, but it is way past time to unplug them from the public teat in the innumerable forms of grants, MBE perks, special commercial wildlife harvesting rights, gaming rights, tax advantages and many more.
I understand tribes and their regalia with respect to their ancestral activities, since time immemorial and all, but the heresy to act like it has anything to do with a corporation is disengenuous.
If the tribe has been in negotiations with the state wouldn't the state have records of those conversations?
Its a bad situation right now. The only programs for retraining someone are limited to tribal and developmentally disabled. Its all like that because state funds are leveraging governments to do that restorative justice equity stuff. The trick is to find the co-mingled federal funding and make a claim of civil rights violations and violations of federal grant contracts. They won't go get a federal grant and just hire normally here. They all go through an equity lens.
They can do this now, but its clear local government unions are squirming over the potential loss of government jobs...a result of the obvious harakiri of local government revenue, caused by restorative justice and this "bad relationship" for 3000 people who are part of a treaty..,. Not every union jobber is going to get hired by the tribe. Not every property owner is going to pay up for this restorative justice gig. Because the white race is predominant here, Any demographic engineering is unconstitutional. The climate migrant argument falls apart when they add the "cultural" language that ultimately decides the racial make-up of a climate migrant. Its called "prospective demographic engineering." The state leverages this to happen at Commerce. I guarantee you they co-mingle federal funds with this money because Commerce is a pass through agency which exists for that sole purpose.
