I plan on swinging by the PA SEEGERS sign pickup location today after work to bring back a pile of SEEGERS signs to FORKS. If anyone wants one or some, I will deliver (reply to this comment or message me on Substack).

This "controversy" may actually open a better conversation.

The 2025 public-lands fight showed that hunters, anglers, hikers, conservationists, rural residents, and outdoor businesses can disagree politically but still unite around a shared value: keeping public lands accessible and responsibly managed.

Clallam County has similar shared values hiding underneath the political labels. Most residents want safe parks, clean water, public access, fewer overdose deaths, housing stability, transparent government, and accountable use of taxpayer dollars.

Those are not left or right issues. They are local governance issues.

So instead of asking which national label fits a candidate, maybe the better question is: What outcomes do most Clallam County residents already agree on, and what measurable actions will actually get us there?

This describes Jake and Jeff!!

In the beginning of change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it cost nothing to be a patriot.

Nicely done, Jeff! People with no solutions or without the willingness to look at issues from both sides and enter into honest and spirited debate can only retreat into name calling and parroting what others in their peer groups say. The opponents of Jake and Jeff may truly believe that a socialist/communist approach to governing is the best course of action. They may truly believe that the answer to the obvious ills plaguing Clallam and Jefferson counties is simply to "tax the rich" more. They may truly believe that JKT is nothing more than an above-board entity populated by folks who only have the good of the county at heart and who had their land stolen by white settlers (even though they stole it from someone else first), and thus, deserve to have it given back to them, free and clear. And on and on. If so, why are they afraid to debate these issues? Could it be that said debate would peel back the onion and expose massive waste, fraud, and abuse, and policies that do not now, and never have, worked?

All dissent is not MAGA. Its just dissent. Liars hate dissent. Communists are liars. They can lie to your face and they can secretly plot your individual demise. Clallam County has been infiltrated by the Communist party since 2004. Its been 20 years now and the people still think Communism works. It doesn't and it never will. Somebody always catches them in a lie and they resort to murder. Its inevitable, because they can't lead with better ideas they can only "lead' by abusing power. John Worthington is not MAGA. John Worthington just hates Communist liars because they lie and block background screens so you can't catch them lying in public.

jedjennings50's avatar

The problem with the Libs is that they just throw mud at their opponents and never have solutions that can solve problems. They just continue down the path of NO common sense. It would be an interesting debate to ask the candidates to name ten actions that would make CC a better place to hang our hats.Frenchie wouldn’t show up. Go JAKE you have some solutions.

John Worthington's avatar

There is a fundamental sickness in Clallam County’s progressive leadership. At its core, it is the same rot found in Communism: an obsession with punishing the successful. It is driven by envy, fueled by jealousy, and rooted in covetousness. That's why they block background screens unless its them...

To sell this to the public, these "progressives" claim there is no affordability and blame the "rich guy." In reality, the lack of affordability is a direct product of progressive government failure. They claim to champion the less fortunate, but let’s look at the actual wreckage they’ve left in the Dungeness Valley over the last 20 years.

For two decades, they’ve used "science" as a mask to strip property and senior water rights from Dungeness homeowners. In 2004, they told us we had to fill irrigation ditches to "save salmon." They claimed the Dungeness needed more sediment "storage." But the real goal was the theft of water rights and property control. They diverted alluvium from the ditches to "store" it in the river, then turned around and demanded we pipe the ditches to "conserve" water. For 26 years, we’ve implemented these "fixes." The result? The Dungeness moves too fast; it washed the fine sediment into the Strait, leaving only coarse rock behind. After 26 years of their "magic," Chinook are on the threatened list and native populations continue to crater. Now, they blame tires. It is one excuse after another to justify punishing the successful and expanding government power.

Meanwhile, they were wearing their "Jimmycomelately" science slippers the whole time, ignoring the real solution. We could have had a massive Silver and King population. The "lower crust" of our community—the people these progressives claim to care about—could have had high-paying jobs building a Jimmycomelately-style system and enhancing irrigation ditches to manage the floods they now fail to control. We should have a booming fishing industry and half a million salmon in the Dungeness and Bell Creek systems serving as the financial bedrock of our community. Instead, we are left with a broke government, a financially depressed region, and a state in decline.

The people deserve less overhead and a government that delivers a finished product to its citizens. Instead, these progressives couldn’t give a damn about the lower crust. They care only about the All-Powerful Government. Every dime they rake in goes to the bureaucracy, not the people. It’s the same mess Communism has always been: a war on success that leaves everyone—especially the most vulnerable—in the dirt.

A little off topic but concerning our local buffoons. The Public Safety Building that is set for construction is what is wrong with the current leaders. The original job bid and the low General from across the water was low but pulled his bid due to an error by a EC bid. There was a bid bond on this job but was never exercised for payment. That said it rebid and the same general was low. Local GC bidders were 2 and 3 in the process. Outside people will come in steal our money, go spend it elsewhere, hire outside people, as we keep paying for this project with OUR taxes. When is this county going to wake to the fact that $14m in

Tax base is being squandered. The fact is this General should never been able to rebid at all. After it’s all done the GC will have change orders that will make our county more broke! Where’s my coffee this AM?

The reason the salmon are endangered is because of the wanton gill-net harvesting by the Tribes, who when try to blame it on dams, creek diversion, tires, and everything else BUT the truth. The truth is that if you paid these Tribal parasites to not fish, the salmon populations would bloom and flourish. The REAL motivation behind the creek diversions is money laundering. The real motivation is profit from salmon decimation. The real motivation is their long-term goal of depopulating the Olympic Peninsula and "re-wilding" it. It's the modern version of Cowboys and Indians, but this time the Indians have the government backing.

John Worthington's avatar

Parasites is a little hard on the Beaver. But they certainly are not the stewards the progressives' say they are.

Great comment, Patriot jedjennings50~!

I believe that IF history is actually written accurately that it will be recorded that the Democrat and RINO socialists (Marxists, Communists, Globalists, and their controllers the Khazarian - NAZI's) will be revealed as those who many currently refer to as the Libs (Progressive Liberals). The Lib's label is really just a thin disguise of the REAL criminals of humanity. What "we" are witnessing now is the predictable trajectory of those nefarious groups of criminal clowns who have been methodically destroying America (and the world) from within. In fact, these social criminals have absolutely no way to reasonably or rationally support their political platform and agenda because their agenda is completely indefensible, and they know that they would go down in flames just as you wisely indicated~! So, all that they can do right now, is disrupt, distract, and deflect as much as they possibly can, in the hopes that they can stop good folks from doing the right things to save America (and the world). They know that they can't win honestly, so they no longer even try to fake it. The next level that they will attempt is physical destruction of property and violence (fear & terror), which will NOT work this time and will in fact "backfire" on them at a level that they can't possibly comprehend because they are the least Intelligent, least capable, and most emotionally hysterical people~!

Enjoy the show and stay safe~!

Sincerely, mike

I have lived all of my life minus a year or so in clallam county 44 years. A 18 year old in today’s clallam county does not have the same opportunity that I had. Housing, food, transportation, taxes, etc are all through the roof compared to 25 years ago. My children have great great great grandparents in both the Forks cemetery and the mount Angeles memorial park. That is what makes this place great is it’s a safe place (or was) for families to grow and stay together. MAGA is just a way to tie someone to Donald Trump. Which is hilarious because we all know what it means and aside from Donald Trump we should all want it as Americans. We can argue the again part but I stated above in clallam county it’s not better now. Our kids should be able to afford a house make a comfortable living and feel safe walking the streets alone. Those things are not luxury or comforts they are requirements. Our current county Government isn’t fighting for our kids or grand kids $500,000 isn’t a starter home $6 a gallon isn’t affordable for gas and Mike French doesn’t care.

Jake Seegers wants to make those things possible so perhaps his and our great great great grand children will have a home here 140 years from now. People need to stop being split up by right and left and realize we all want the same thing for our kids and grand kids. Harm reduction doesn’t work and allowing people to die slowly in the woods and on the streets is not caring. Jake and his family are new to clallam county but my family and a lot of the other multi generational families that I know support him. He wants the same thing we all want.

The irony is that Trump wants all these things-- a happy, safe, and wealthy America. These leftist idiots lose sight of that by spewing their hatred. Can you you get any more irrational than that? MAGA is a good thing-- 99.9999% of Americans would agree, but because the rough-talking billionaire says it, suddenly wealth, safety, happiness, success are bad things to aspire to. What imbeciles!

But..there is too much methane at the dump...Americans waste too much food blah blah blah.. Food HAS to be more expensive so we don't throw away so much food. If we are going to throw away food its going to be food that is not purchased and is thrown away n HUD housing dumpsters by poor people that can read expiration dates...WSU extension will teach us how to leave less methane at the dump. Go to their workshop where they tell you how to leave less methane at the dump while you know they are looking at me as an old disabled guy that makes too much methane and uses too much toilet paper and is smart enough to read expiration dates and eats less food, creates less methane..and knows how to keep the Bud light cold..

John's avatar

Methane produced in landfills can be used as an alternative source of power. In Oregon there are multiple landfills that have done this. In Tillamook the PUD in conjunction with the Dairy Coop used the burnt down blimp hangar. They use cow dung in million gallon septic tanks and generate electricity via generators. In my opinion there is an untapped source of energy available from the waste. People complain about stuff but won't look for solutions.

Timothy Weller's avatar

Name calling, labeling, and like-behavior are forms of bullying. I find that if one disregards those tactics and concentrates on the tasks at hand, eventually the line that one pays out becomes the line that bullies hang themselves with. We have much more important things to tend to, let's not give an audeinceto those who so desparately command and need it to deflect from the chinks in their own armor. Independent thinking is what buildt our Republic, and sustains us through times such as we currently face. I remember what our parents told us when we left the house as children; "stick together", it works. I see the collective wisdom of positors here on CC Watchdog, let's apply that toward our quest; but it doesn't end at an election, situational awareness and preventive maintenance are vital to the long term mission.

David Zelenka's avatar

For sure. I've been out-the-loop for so long, I have lacked doing that preventative maintenance. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," doesn't apply if it's rotting within.

MK's avatar

What a well written and thoughtful article Jeff. This clearly summates that the people writing this stuff have been convinced by the national agenda to believe that anything not in line with that train of thought is simply labeled MAGA. That's the lowest form of disagreement and argument.

The options are clear. A better Clallam County for everyone, or more of the same. How is that even a difficult decision to make?

Some people are all ate up with a national agenda and I feel sorry for them because they are working against their own best interest by denigrating Jake. These people have never met him, or really inspected their views and beliefs, to know that there are many common goals that they have and that is campaign has.

As such we need separation from this limiting mental mindset. We need a wedge. This movement is the wedge. We are the Wedge party. Vote for Jake Seegers.

It's all words. These people hide behind nick names. The words racist, fascist, nazi, are so watered down they don't mean anything anymore. These people will do anything to have their way no matter who they hurt. It's sad that weak minded people buy into it. It's what Clallam County is becoming. These people have mental illness and will attack anyone that threatens their base. Homelessness and drug addiction is a big money maker for NGO'S and non-profits. These people are in favor of political violence. Angry, violent, unhinged, people. They value their ideology more than the American taxpayers. That dude that lives in Sequim is behind a lot of the name calling and lies. Hang in there Jake.

The local races have never been about local issues. It's the facade that counts. It's the elites...always...who will tell you over and over and over again that "it's like that everywhere" or "it's not as bad as _______(usually Seattle)". I'm always amused by the number of naysayers who don't use their names when playing identity politics and I'm even more astounded that after the fallout of what was once Our Town (IYKYK) regarding stolen homeless possessions and them being displaced from places they shouldn't be...here we are again excoriating 4PA for doing the job that your City Manager and council should've had the courage to do long ago.

Endless chatter about climate change as you destroy the woodlands, water fronts, and watersheds in the area. Endless vitriol about who wears a MAGA hat and why Make America Great Again is such a hateful comment. And God bless the soul who enters a race and tells you how he'd proceed and you (and you know who YOU are) lie directly to all of us by saying that he has no answers and no right to be running in the first place.

I'd say 'isn't it ironic' but someone, somewhere would probably take it as a challenge to throw a parade, stop traffic, and declare themselves a victim. I am praying for Jake to get his foot in the door and start demanding answers and making decisions that are pro-active for the community, not for the grant seekers.

In this particular case you have a established commissioner with a track record who has no spine to tell "his" supporters to grow up and sell him for what he has done.

So leaves no choice but JAKE JAKE JAKE. :D Cause he is out there putting work into his words.

Garry Blankenship's avatar

I'm frustrated with the stigma now assigned to MAGA by the left leaning. It is used as an adjective typically implying bad and wrong. So "Make America Great Again" is bad and wrong. Helping the disadvantaged is laudable, commendable and a worthwhile investment. Making our country exclusively about the infinite forms of those who are unsuccessful is not a worthwhile investment. The O.P. and it's smaller population centers have much to offer in the form of natural resources and quaint charm. Not so charming when obscured by homelessness blight and fostered drug abuse. Compassion; yes. Cultivating failure; no. Harm reduction accepts harm. Why not murder reduction ? Surely there are societally created aids possible to reduce the number of murders a murderer might commit. This feel good altruism that fosters failing is an endless playback loop. Cultivate failure and it will be yours. Jake Seegers is compassionate. Unlike our historical political representatives, he cares enough about the disadvantaged to I hope not feed their failure.

John's avatar

Great job today! As mentioned before, they are scared of Jake and his common sense approach. It is actually refreshing that a candidate has specific items in their platform to run on. These issues have been around for a long time. From my research when you have grants and money being thrown at affordable housing for 20+ years with no real outcomes. I will say this again and Robert nailed it, Jake and Jeff you need to stand proud, as you are so far over the target, and they have nothing to stand on to counter what they have supported for years. They are so full of hate that someone who wants to make things better, that they just can't help themselves and have to use gas-lighting, name calling and slinging mud. If they actually opened their eyes and got rid of their hate they would see what they have created or supported over the years is not working, it is only making things worse.

Go Jake!! Vote for COMMON SENSE!!!
