County Commissioner Randy Johnson and Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove did not answer yesterday's question about the 435 acres of DNR land being considered for transfer to the Jamestown Corporation. Here is today's question emailed to the LWV:
Dear League of Women Voters of Clallam County,
Clallam County Watchdog has raised several questions about your role in the Conservation District election, including how nonpartisanship is defined in this situation, whether the League supported broader ballot access, and how candidate information timing aligns with voter access. We’d welcome your response and will publish it in full so readers can hear directly from you.
The following response is a modeled statement written from a good-governance perspective to illustrate how the League of Women Voters of Clallam County could clarify its role, define nonpartisanship, and address ballot access concerns in the Conservation District election while maintaining transparency and institutional neutrality.
Dear Constituent,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to questions regarding our role in the Clallam Conservation District (CCD) supervisor election.
Our Role
At the request of the CCD, the League of Women Voters of Clallam County is providing limited ballot processing assistance. Our role is procedural and ministerial only. We do not determine election structure, ballot request requirements, candidate filing deadlines, or voter eligibility rules. Those matters are governed by Chapter 89.08 RCW and Washington Administrative Code 135-110 under the oversight of the Washington State Conservation Commission.
Ballot processing is conducted under established procedures intended to ensure accuracy and fairness. We do not exercise discretion beyond applying the rules set by the CCD and state law.
Definition of Nonpartisan
The League is a nonpartisan civic organization. Nonpartisan means we do not endorse or oppose candidates or political parties. Independent advocacy groups may choose to endorse candidates in any election; those decisions are not directed by or coordinated with the League.
Our involvement in ballot processing does not reflect support for any candidate. It reflects a commitment to procedural integrity when asked to assist.
Ballot Access and Structure
Conservation District elections operate differently from general elections administered by the County Auditor under Title 29A RCW. Voters must request ballots unless they have previously opted to receive one annually. This statutory framework is established by state law and is not controlled by the League.
As a matter of principle, the League supports clarity, transparency, and informed participation in all elections. Questions about modifying ballot distribution procedures or moving Conservation District elections to the regular fall ballot would require action by the CCD, the Washington State Conservation Commission, or the Legislature.
Timing of Candidate Information
The League publishes candidate information when it is received and verified. Filing deadlines and ballot request timelines are set by the CCD pursuant to state law. We recognize that election timelines can affect voter awareness and strive to make candidate information publicly available as promptly and equitably as possible.
Commitment to Public Trust
Public confidence in elections is essential. Our participation is intended to support accuracy and transparency in the ballot processing phase. We welcome constructive questions and are committed to answering them directly.
Stevie Wonder could see where all this leads. Taking over the Martin Luther King, Jr. day of peaceful observance in connection with civil rights and independent thinking to, once again, promote division and reduction of American beliefs and rights (we saw the Dem party refuse to acknowledge their roles to protect US citizens during the State of the Union address). Never let the ability to take over someone else's day, cause, religion, or morality stop you from stealing their thunder, make sure to focus on your own narcissistic goals.
The Women's League of Voters championed, out and proud, their absolute destruction of the tenets of the US Constitution reminding us all to go and do our civic duty to vote for the most qualified candidate. Interesting that you included John Brewer, since he was far more active in the community in his lifetime than the entire league is now. They just pop up like little moles in the garden of unity, destroying whatever beauty there is or was in the process of 'inclusivity' which we all know is a joke with no punchline.
Whatever funding is allotted to the LWV should be yanked, immediately. If they need cash for their postcards from the edge (to those who voted and meet their approval) let them do bake sales.
The only thing I can close with is this: When someone (or a group of someones) show you who they are, believe them. If you're not a card-carrying Socialist Democrat in WA, you just don't count.
"Whatever funding... yanked..." Is it possible that this local "chapter" can be removed from the organization due to their practices that are not "non-partisan"? I just looked and the LWV national website, but there isn't much there to indicate whether yes or no, or otherwise. Does anyone know how this could be addressed? Have this local chapter removed from the national organization based upon their partisan activity. Hmmmm...
First two comments from women who oppose the LWVs. My question to the LWVs, when do these women's voices matter to your organization?
Frankly, it's all ridiculous. A gaggle of women who haven't changed since they became life-long members of the mean girls club in junior high school and are still exerting their juvenile behavior on society.
And let's not forget, our current commissioners just going along with the flow gullibly believing the CCD.
Very much disagree with “gullibly believing”, ha! Not about believing, about pushing the narrative, going with the flow no matter how wrong or unpopular the narrative is.
What exactly happened to older white women that made them so very angry? This isn't about Trump... This is somthing about repressed anger that can now come to the surface and find a target. Today it's all things Trump, tomorrow it will be another target. Watch out CCWD... Without their Kings, Save America Act, etc., they will converge on the last remaining standing stalwart of CC Freedom. Kidding, why be afraid of these so obvious angry old ladies.
Jeff, thank you for the detailed info in this article. This is why you are so important to our community. We have a multi-prong agenda here in CC aimed at a total takeover of our local gov't. ClallamityJen's site this morning has a good thread of running comments which correlate to today's CCWD post. Just like your potpourri indicates, there are continuing issues with long term consequences throughout our community. And there are many. Too many. The Tribal Corps. have had decades of help from state and federal entities to be able to fulfill their lustful power grab. They help fund certain organizations and Boards in order to accomplish, step by step, a major win. We ordinary citizens don't have that kind of backing. It's David vs Goliath. We cannot take our eyes off of any of these issues, with more buried beneath, because they all play a part in this. So as a community of informed and concerned citizens, as you have created, Jeff, we can fight and pushback on these issues that have caused egregious outcomes. I appreciate everyone's comments and contributions because it means we are working together.
I’m not surprised by all of this, they will do anything they can to promote their ideals and rhetorics what I wanna know is who is watching over the League of Women Voters to make sure these ballots are processed properly without prejudice
LWV is suppose to be a voter education and advocacy organization. It is now the opposite of what it originally stood for and has morphed into a Partisan Legion of Women Voters.
“...The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a nonpartisan American nonprofit political organization. Founded in 1920, its ongoing major activities include REGISTERING VOTERS, PROVIDING VOTER INFORMATION, BOOSTING VOTER TURNOUT and ADVOCATING FOR VOTING RIGHTS...”
Thank you for sharing the meme and content! And thank you for covering this issue — the questionable election operation by the CCD and the hypocrisy of their members along with the LWV. Welcome to Clallam County!
I have a very clean straight forward sniff test for voting. Any person or organization that opposes voter I.D. and proof of citizenship is unworthy of any support. That both are not already legal mandates to vote is a National embarrassment. Voter I.D. does not restrict of hamper any voter's rights. It does restrict non-voter rights. Without voter I.D. a country like Somalia could stuff ballot boxes and place a Somalian in a prominent political position. Allowing non-citizens to vote is completely without logic; unless of course you rely upon non-citizen votes to gain power and influence. The LWV is selling out our quality of life for illegal votes.
Garry I am pink skinned, which makes me a woman of color. I registered to vote with my maiden name, my first married name, and my second married name. I am proud to be a registered voter and I have a card to prove it. I don't know why it's such a problem for these white women who didn't take their husbands' names, or hyphenated them to make things easier. Maybe it's a Newsom IQ test.
Thank you, Denise! I was thinking of that the other day — how many women don’t even change their last name when they’re married, which means they don’t have to do anything for their voter ID card. Another thought — why don’t they encourage people to never move, because that would mean updating their ID. LOL.
I'm plagued with the same disfavored skin pigmentation. Also male and heterosexual; the Government not nobody trifecta. It is nothing more than a smokescreen to claim any legal citizen "might" be denied their opportunity to vote. As you point out, if a citizen cannot figure out how to vote, we're probably better off.
Hmmm... I'm 55 and I can say: HRT works wonders. They should look into it. In the meantime... NO EXCUSE. Reasonable is reasonable. Acting crazy gives all women a bad name. They need to chill out. lol
Another thing I found confusing on the ballot - it says to complete the information as it appears on your voter registration then shows a line for first name, middle initial, last name and address. My registration doesn't show my middle initial so do I put it there or not? And if I enter something a little different on the address - such as Street as opposed to St, will my ballot be thrown out? I assume my signature is what they would go by but looking at the source, they probably go by whatever gives them the vote they want or invalidates those they don't want.
My ballot's going in the mail today and with no way to verify whether it was counted or not, I guess I'll never know if I passed their test.
I would be offended if LWV or CCD asked me to prove my citizenship to vote in this latest mail in election. God forbid if they ask me if I’m alive or human. Were any ballots delivered to the inhabitant along the Tumwater Creek Corridor? Were these ballots handed out like candy or did the voter have to have a mailing address?
Information is power Jeff so thank you for it. Sheep must be led along over to the cliff or to slaughter, the league are the sheep dogs. I thought the league was non-partisan? Perception matters, trust matters is what the league preaches. Has anyone seen the nonpartisan league support an independent or a Republican? How can a group be non-partisan while pushing only democrat candidates? The league must believe the public is brainless.
Nonpartisan=free from party affiliation or bias………can’t be clearer than this definition, yet……..
like saying the KKK is a black protection organization.

Jeff, I hope they don't answer during a group hot flash, it won't be pretty.
Don't hold your breath about them answering at all. It seems they ASK the questions and are above answering any.
Jeff, sorry, I forgot they are A League of Their Own
Doug caught the typo. I'm not sure what the "gayo" community is, but it's been corrected.
I thought you were working on some new theme music.

Or a push toward another goal. JKT is trying to take over the whole peninsula. This seems, to me, orchestrated.
Commish encouraging all of it. They know. They know how to subdue dissent. Where is the ACLU in this county?
Oh wait - they are too busy saving immigrant's rights...
MK, "gaggle of women?" You are too kind. I'd call them a, B.O.B's, but then it would make me sound angry. I'm working on it : )

Billy, Does incumbent WendyRae Johnson remind you of anyone?
Throw Momma from the Train? I can't get the visual out of my head.
Yes. And that crooked forced smile...
I was brought up amongst broads and wenches. I dialed it back.

Hahaha 😂
THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS HAS LOST ITS MEANING
LWV is suppose to be a voter education and advocacy organization. It is now the opposite of what it originally stood for and has morphed into a Partisan Legion of Women Voters.
“...The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a nonpartisan American nonprofit political organization. Founded in 1920, its ongoing major activities include REGISTERING VOTERS, PROVIDING VOTER INFORMATION, BOOSTING VOTER TURNOUT and ADVOCATING FOR VOTING RIGHTS...”
Now, let us define "Voter"...
Abeetle, LWV's definition or the legal definition?
hehe, it's all relative...
Thank you for sharing the meme and content! And thank you for covering this issue — the questionable election operation by the CCD and the hypocrisy of their members along with the LWV. Welcome to Clallam County!
Everyone who was assessed the $5 CCD fee should have automatically been sent a ballot for this election.
So right , so fair , so much common since , transparent and would cost probably $900 !

It's not, but when there's a red herring to toss into the bag of division they'll grab it.
Fabricated division is very inclusive ! Looking forward to when the community can come together for its own mutual benefit ! I had a dream .
Keep dreaming, Randy.
You mean Omar may not of had the support of registered voters and that Minnesota ballot boxes were stuffed? How the heck did that happen?
Ah yes, the quote from Hamlet, "Something is rotten in the state of ?
A. Denmark
B. Clallam County
C. Both of the above

some local NGOs register transients to vote when applying for benefits
My bride asked for one right after i signed up on the internet i got mine but none for her?
The fix is in .... again.

I am still looking for more, but it's an elusive search.
