Talk about someone walking their belief system. What an angel. Now I know where my extras will go to.

As someone who has a relationship with the homeless I'm sure there's a lot that Jean has learned about their plight. I'd be interested in hearing what sorts of things that can be done to get them stable and self-sufficient.

Yes, more of this, let's learn from Jean. Let's also talk with some homeless folks; just as Jean has done. Let's follow more of her example!

Serious question. Is there an issue with discarded clothing, litter, tents in public (or private) spaces? I live in PA and this is a HUGE issue here.

If yes, who cleans it up? If not, what is different and how can we follow this lead in PA?

Discarded tents, trash and clothing are everywhere in PA.

Discarded trash and litter are everywhere along the streets and roads. It is not falling from passing UFO's, its falling from us. Volunteers (including prisoners) are picking up the mess left by others who don't seem to care about dirtying our yard. Its our yard, we need to clean it.

We clean our yard, our neighborhood area, the soccer fields, the trails...we pick up our dogs' poop and others as well...there's a lot of DGAF out there in the world and we can't do it all. We do what we can and what we are willing to...that's how it is.😊

Sorry DGAF ? I don't know this acronym.

Thanks Eric. I’m more referring to abandoned coats, tents, etc that are clearly cast off. My reference to trash was more wrappers and cans from the little free pantries. Are trash receptacles provided and used by the beneficiaries of these donations?

As mentioned, I don’t have visibility to this issue in Sequim and I genuinely would like to know. It’s not a trap.

4PA does some trash pickup. Here's they're website: https://www.4pa.org/ It's also clearly not enough; I just wanted to share one resource I'm aware of.

A great opportunity for Jeff to contrast the every-day positives occuring here done by every-day people with the nonsense going on in our local governments.

Yes, a beautiful testament to the loving heart of a human being.

If you can provide food, clothing and shelter (all temp)...NOW what do you do with them?

Move them into your garage? Your spare room? Multi-million dollar luxury apartments (for a few) is not realistic or sustainable.

I have a concept about 'compassion farms' which would provide the basics of survival with the participation of the 'residents' but it would require some kind of system, millions and millions of dollars (unending) and a lot of psych-support, etc. Jamestown's plan to rehab people is great (at how many 10's of thousands of dollars of taxpayer monies per individual) but then what?...back on the street...good luck with that.

I have all the compassion for the homeless, luckless, addicted, mentally ill... but survival is just the tip of the iceberg!

More NGO's/NPO's subsidized forever and budgets growing through the roof?

If anyone is paying attention to what Trump Team is doing to uncover and stop fraud, waste, corruption and theft you can begin to realize what these well intentioned programs end up like...almost without exception. Even Red Cross and other august organizations are rife with corruption and very little actually gets 'to the ground' and the needy.

So, Jean...thank you for your loving efforts! I don't have the resources, energy, time to do what you do, so I'm not dissing on it. Just saying...then what?🤓

Jeff, this is a complete departure; I'm proud. You even want more stories of people doing awesome things--so do I! Here, here! I hope you get flooded with stories of awesome folks--we live with so many great people, I'm sure you'll have an abundance. Maybe you'll even have to add a tagline to your slogan: "Holding County Leaders Accountable & Celebrating the People of Clallam." Cheers on a great bio article and thanks for writing it!
