I give credit to Jake for handling those gotcha questions with civility. The people who focus on national politics are doing so because their candidates focus on D.C. and not CC. I'm for redevloping the John Wayne Marina to give it a face-lift and expand the yacht club facility and restaurant. I do have a concern with amount of new residential housing proposed. The 600 units planned impact high density living with overcrowding and traffic flow issues. I'm on the fence until I can be reassured that the small are can absorb 600 units, or Seabrook reduces the number of units.
The issue is complicated by the NOAA sea level rise map. If they are going to continue to use that map consistently instead of making a mockery of it, that area is allegedly under water. So at the very least a seawall is going to be needed there..a massive one. In addition, Sequim and Clallam County stormwater options are limited to pulling the pipes up and letting the ditches evaporate the stormwater run-off like it did for 100 years or diverting it somewhere...Not many places left.., This particular land use decision has so many elements to it, I feel like John Lithgow in Buckaroo Bonzai using both arms and both legs to get into the 8th dimension. I have been saying our electorate is under educated and dependent on the government handouts. Who cares? We had better care since we are in danger.

Well what you state above has given other countries a pretty good life style. Like Germany. Everyone takes a month in summer for vacation and everything closes in December for holiday. But people don’t leave the work force without a retirement income. A few generations ago once out here f college you worked for a company your entire career. Not so much like that now, but the USA isn’t exactly a role model for any other country. And social security was pitched as guaranteed retirement income decades ago, now it barely pays utilities. The greatest lie of all. Even if it made 1-2 percent all those years we paid into it. It’s a big slush fund for pet projects I guess.
I would like to know more about Germany, but my memory is more about what rebuilt Germany after WWII. First, the United States flew food supplies into Germany at the risk of continued conflict with Russia. The division between East Germany, and West Germany was hostile and traumatic. Eventually, we (?) negotiated a joining of the two societies. Then came the rebuilding of an entire manufacturing base. New everything. Secondly, compare sizes between a compact, new, country and a large, diverse collection of returning military personnel and new immigrants. The United States had major expenses converting to a peacetime economy, including a large commitment to self defense.
Germany is also a fairly compact society, often based on a strong central government and a strong work ethic. By comparison, the United States is huge, multicultural, and accepting millions of immigrants from around the world. It is hard to compare the United States with a society similar to Germany. I am also concerned regarding the illegal immigration of muslims from around the world into Europe. Those societies are being split and forced to accept hostile forces into their societies.
Then I go to basic economics. The United States was a survivor of WWII, but much of her economic power was untouched by the war, and able to convert to a peacetime economy. We were able to integrate the millions of immigrants fleeing a demolished Europe, and Japan. We also had a huge work force leaving military service and rejoining our work force.
Here we are over 70 years after the war and a society that is hardly recognizable to the WWII collection of people working together to win a war.
We have grown. Our collections of small towns now seems to be a collection of large cities. We impact, if not control, entire economies around the world. What we do not seem to do is copy the best of each of our friend’s societies. We have too much individualism to become socialistic, but this may be changing. What I fear is a move to a socialistic government that will make our population dependent on government handouts.
Just read what the Democratic Socialists are proposing. Our strength has been individualism and personal responsibility. How can our younger population increase their personal wealth when the government keeps adding taxes and programs that take away personal wealth? Our current Congress seems more committed to spending “other people’s money”. Our Congress is committed to social programs that have no future success in mind. Start with our underperforming education system. Tens of millions cannot read or calculate. We are too deep in debt. How many people can imagine the size of a $40 Trillion debt? We are not educating our young to be self sufficient.
We have lost a lot of our prior work ethic. Who is training our future work force? I have recommended to young people to study and enter the trades. The demands are there and jobs pay well. Instead of spending money on enabling those involved with drugs and alcohol we need trade schools. We have too much credit card debt. We do not teach personal finance, saving, investing, in school. Fewer people are investing in their personal future, but instead are relying on the “government” for their financial security. (Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment insurance, Government loans, etc.) We cannot continue with our indulgence in too much drug usage, alcohol usage, and too much crime. Our future is dependent on the responsible individual, not a bigger government.

It was so great to see so many engaged citizens at the debate on Thursday. The Calico Cat Club's forum gave many people an opportunity to participate. The club let Jake and Mike speak freely and kept the activity civil. You can't control the audience's questions because the club doesn't screen them. But that type of open forum does expose those without common sense and only two active brain cells. Personally, I was disappointed that some were so focused on their dislike of national political figures that they wasted their opportunity to ask a question about the local issues that will be affected by this election. I'm glad these people came, but would've liked to hear their thoughts on topics connected to the theme of the night: Quality of life in Clallam county. I also wish the handmaidens would've taken off their costumes and come to the mic to ask a question-- they would've been very welcome. Public engagement was the entire point of the night, so I'm not sure what there was to protest about an evening of people to coming together to speak and listen. But I would've liked to have heard their questions and the candidates' responses.
My favorite question of the night referred back to the theme: Quality of life in Clallam county. Someone asked if the candidates thought that people living on the streets and encampments had a good quality of life.
Both candidates said no. Both said it with conviction. Both carried compassion and sorrow in their voices-- because it's truly heartbreaking.

What I would do if I was Jake ID print this up on a 4 by 8 story board and point down to the bottom of the chart where Mike French is, then ID point up back to the top and say I want to be making the decisions up here...not implementing the decision down here...and point to the board again. I'm for redevloping the John Wayne Marina to give it a face-lift and expand the yacht club facility and restaurant. I do have a concern with amount of new residential housing proposed. The 600 units planned impact high density living with overcrowding and traffic flow issues. I'm on the fence until I can be reassured that the small are can absorb 600 units, or Seabrook reduces the number of units.
The issue is complicated by the NOAA sea level rise map. If they are going to continue to use that map consistently instead of making a mockery of it, that area is allegedly under water. So at the very least a seawall is going to be needed there..a massive one. In addition, Sequim and Clallam County stormwater options are limited to pulling the pipes up and letting the ditches evaporate the stormwater run-off like it did for 100 years or diverting it somewhere...Not many places left.., This particular land use decision has so many elements to it, I feel like John Lithgow in Buckaroo Bonzai using both arms and both legs to get into the 8th dimension. I will try and bring it all to bear on the First, but my written objections are already on the record and its not a three minute discussion... I think I have considered all the relevant factors. but my biased position is a public use area because development in areas of "sea level rise" Tsunami zones that liquify in M-9 events to me dictates the final policy. You either build a massive sea wall and plan for it or, put the development up in the foothills east of Solana. It has a view and is Bell Hill Jr. Plus it is far enough up there to be part of a larger stormwater treatment system that uses the Johnson Creek steep grade channel as a means of disposing of and treating the stormwater with this bio film treatment vision they have. Because they do so much talking and planning in the NGO, Citizens will not be fully informed when they make their public comments.

If we citizens buy into this set of lies and mismanagement we deserve the results. Doing nothing will not solve these problems. Our schools are failing. Our economy is in trouble. Our enemies are gaining strength. Our cities are dangerous. The value of our money is dropping. And, once again, ignorance is replacing knowledge. Our country is in danger. Vote for change. Well what you state above has given other countries a pretty good life style. Like Germany. Everyone takes a month in summer for vacation and everything closes in December for holiday. But people don’t leave the work force without a retirement income. A few generations ago once out here f college you worked for a company your entire career. Not so much like that now, but the USA isn’t exactly a role model for any other country. And social security was pitched as guaranteed retirement income decades ago, now it barely pays utilities. I would like to know more about Germany, but my memory is more about what rebuilt Germany after WWII. First, the United States flew food supplies into Germany at the risk of continued conflict with Russia. The division between East Germany, and West Germany was hostile and traumatic. Eventually, we (?) negotiated a joining of the two societies. Then came the rebuilding of an entire manufacturing base. New everything. Secondly, compare sizes between a compact, new, country and a large, diverse collection of returning military personnel and new immigrants. The United States had major expenses converting to a peacetime economy, including a large commitment to self defense.
Germany is also a fairly compact society, often based on a strong central government and a strong work ethic. By comparison, the United States is huge, multicultural, and accepting millions of immigrants from around the world. It is hard to compare the United States with a society similar to Germany. I am also concerned regarding the illegal immigration of muslims from around the world into Europe. Those societies are being split and forced to accept hostile forces into their societies.
Then I go to basic economics. The United States was a survivor of WWII, but much of her economic power was untouched by the war, and able to convert to a peacetime economy. We were able to integrate the millions of immigrants fleeing a demolished Europe, and Japan. We also had a huge work force leaving military service and rejoining our work force.
Here we are over 70 years after the war and a society that is hardly recognizable to the WWII collection of people working together to win a war.
We have grown. Our collections of small towns now seems to be a collection of large cities. We impact, if not control, entire economies around the world. What we do not seem to do is copy the best of each of our friend’s societies. We have too much individualism to become socialistic, but this may be changing. What I fear is a move to a socialistic government that will make our population dependent on government handouts.
Just read what the Democratic Socialists are proposing. Our strength has been individualism and personal responsibility. How can our younger population increase their personal wealth when the government keeps adding taxes and programs that take away personal wealth? Our current Congress seems more committed to spending “other people’s money”. Our Congress is committed to social programs that have no future success in mind. Start with our underperforming education system. Tens of millions cannot read or calculate. We are too deep in debt. How many people can imagine the size of a $40 Trillion debt? We are not educating our young to be self sufficient.
We have lost a lot of our prior work ethic. Who is training our future work force? I have recommended to young people to study and enter the trades. The demands are there and jobs pay well. Instead of spending money on enabling those involved with drugs and alcohol we need trade schools. We have too much credit card debt. We do not teach personal finance, saving, investing, in school. Fewer people are investing in their personal future, but instead are relying on the “government” for their financial security. (Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment insurance, Government loans, etc.) We cannot continue with our indulgence in too much drug usage, alcohol usage, and too much crime. Our future is dependent on the responsible individual, not a bigger government.

It was so great to see so many engaged citizens at the debate on Thursday. The Calico Cat Club's forum gave many people an opportunity to participate. The club let Jake and Mike speak freely and kept the activity civil. You can't control the audience's questions because the club doesn't screen them. But that type of open forum does expose those without common sense and only two active brain cells. Jeff, thank you for the recap and highlights which feature Jake Seegers's platform for a brighter, happier, safer, and more prosperous future for our beautiful County.

Good summary of the event. I was glad to see so many walks of life and viewpoints represented.
Personally, I was disappointed that some were so focused on their dislike of national political figures that they wasted their opportunity to ask a question about the local issues that will be affected by this election. I'm glad these people came, but would've liked to hear their thoughts on topics connected to the theme of the night: Quality of life in Clallam county. I also wish the handmaidens would've taken off their costumes and come to the mic to ask a question-- they would've been very welcome. Public engagement was the entire point of the night, so I'm not sure what there was to protest about an evening of people to coming together to speak and listen. But I would've liked to have heard their questions and the candidates' responses.
My favorite question of the night referred back to the theme: Quality of life in Clallam county. Someone asked if the candidates thought that people living on the streets and encampments had a good quality of life.
Both candidates said no. Both said it with conviction. Both carried compassion and sorrow in their voices-- because it's truly heartbreaking.

What I would do if I was Jake ID print this up on a 4 by 8 story board and point down to the bottom of the chart where Mike French is, then ID point up back to the top and say I want to be making the decisions up here...not implementing the decision down here...and point to the board again. That is the most effective way to illustrate that the people would be voting for a man in charge not a man taking orders from a system.
