CCWDoggers and the community need to know how brave and dedicated Jeff Tozzer is. Jeff is a committee of one on two committees of the Charter Review Commission. These two are 1)District only voting for county commissioners and 2) elected officials disclosing board positions on NGOs and other non-profits. In the survey results both proposals had 75% and 74% voter favorability, respectively. YET, at last night's CRC meeting the Water Steward debate lingered on for an hour, a survey item that received 70% UNfavorability. The lead position could pay up to $108,000 plus expenses, plus benefits. The taxpayers have spoken against a new gov't run department and a new gov't position, but the CR Commissioners don't validate the public's opinion, concerns, or sound advice. I plan on continuing to push back against this unneeded bureaucratic "dog and pony show" (thanks, John W.). Thank you, Jeff, for standing with the citizens of CC and doing your job at the CRC when the other 14 commissioners hide behind their computer screens.
Thank you for the plug, Jeff. Now, if ONLY the PDN could pay attention to my NAME. I have never been, nor will ever be "Marolee Dvorak". My legal name is Marolee, my last name is Smith-Dvorak. I use Mimi with friends... (so, perhaps the PDN got that part correct?)
It is ridiculous what governments try and pull. The wages are unbelievable, and always disengaged with anything other than a particular form of "lunatic" logic. Too bad government wages aren't linked to the median wage of the county.
Its mostly because I really resist getting too involved in the PDC reporting. (it's the Public Disclosure Commission that has really become an amazing annoyance, wait did I say annoyance, I meant -- persnickety). The moment I take "other people's money" I have reporting requirements. Ever the idealist, I'm hoping to stumble on creative ways to get the word out -- that are frugal, and don't create plastic land fill (like yard signs). Open to ideas.... maybe a beer bash meetup at Bar Hop, and invite everyone you know?
My thanks for your tireless effort and your skill at poking the Governance bear. There are too many issues for comments. My priority is to hire a DOGE consultant for Clallam County. One that is not an MWBE consultant, but one known to be good at their specialty. Government is the business of the public and too many representatives are business experience lacking. When I fly I want the best pilot available. Not a pilot the checks the most "minority" boxes.
The corruption seems to permeate every corner of government. League of Women Voters should be forthright and change their name to League of Women Marxists, and be banned from their "impartial" meddling in our election affairs, and replaced by a truly non-partisan citizen's group.
Not excusing the child molester, but it is fair to point out that he was 15 when the incident occurred. And how old was the victim? 14?
The Tribes like to paint themselves as holier-than-thou environmentalists, but they have plenty of baggage they are hiding.
I wonder what a true, honest, uncorrupt, government, truly representative of the citizens, would be like. Is there such a thing in Washington? Anywhere?
(1) A person is guilty of rape of a child in the first degree when the person has sexual intercourse with another who is less than twelve years old and the perpetrator is at least twenty-four months older than the victim.
(2) Rape of a child in the first degree is a class A felony.
Was it defined the same way 25 years ago? It seems to me that a "child" was traditionally defined as under 16? Or under 18? Not arguing-- just asking. And, in some circumstances, a precocious 12 year old and a naive 15 year old might innocently explore their sexuality. Just sayin'. And how do we know it wasn't consensual, but the parents made a big ado about it?
I am not defending a child rapist, but it WAS by a 15 year old and we don't know the details behind it. Unless there was similar behavior in the ensuing 25 years, I would tend to dismiss it as childhood bad judgement.
A Charter Review Commissioner calling for spending more money the County doesn't have to create a Water Stewart position we don't need.Hard to image I know. Is there another relative needing a job I wonder? And leaving a mess after the tree harvesting protest- A renewable resource. I guess they never heard of pack it in pack it out! Looking at their salaries and the increase in just 4 years I am sure most of the residents in Clallam County wish they had a 28% pay raise during the same period. But most don't get to give themselves a raise! Thanks Jeff for keeping us informed in our county!
Jeff, as usual and what we have come to expect is the excellent reporting and information that you always provide. We actually look forward to your 0600….(Navy Time of Course) unbiased and truthful disclosures of what the taxpayer is paying for and how it is used. It really is hard to imagine the funds that could actually be used for the good of all….. thanks again brotatochip….
Shout them out. Demand them out...they are not following the law or the rules but they are counting on us following them! That's why they call us Sheeple...and we are...sometimes anyway!😳
Justin Cox.. I know him well, he’s my nephew 😔I don’t want to get too personal, his story isn’t mine to tell. That being said, we shouldn’t be too quick to judge.
Are you perfect? It’s typically those who view themselves as better than others that pass the most condemning of judgements. A plethora of factors- some, if not most, were never a choice for the person you’re condemning. Lifelong trauma has life shattering & devastating psychological effects on a persons mind. So unless you’ve experienced the same, it’s really not for you to judge
No I am not perfect or do I consider myself any better than anyone else. If you look through the thread, I have not made any other comments, judgements, or condemnations of any kind. I have experienced trauma, I know many people who have also experienced trauma and none of them or me are addicted to any substances or kicking the windows out of police cars. We don't know what trauma this person has experienced because as you stated, it is not yours to tell. Maybe he needs to find a positive way to deal with it other than self destruction.
I, too, have suffered many kinds of trauma: sexual (from a young age), physical (which crippled me), mental, and other. I went on to live my life successfully without veiling it behind substance abuse. I could easily have fallen into that trap back in the early 90's, having experienced a terrible accident, but I chose not to use (and become depended upon) pain killers. Many people did, at that time in our recent history. If a person can get help, they should seek it. If they choose not to get help, then they remain a problem for society. It is possible to "move on". I have no excuses for anyone. It's a hard road, but you MUST take it.
Since you managed to overcome your obstacles, I guess that means everyone else should respond the same way? Isn’t that kind of the same thing as believing everyone else should jump on the dem wagon cuz the dems managed to do it? No- it means we’re all different, as are our perspectives & ability to manage trauma in our lives. What a wonderful world it would be if we were all as level headed & as (morally, spiritually, mentally) strong as others demonstrate they can be
So, what's your story? Are you willing to share your journey? I am. I know many people who have overcome trauma successfully. It's possible. The point is to never give up trying. Even if you're alone. Even if it's hard (because it is). Even if there is no one on your side. Even if you have obstacles. You have to try. If you do, you will see change. Small or large.
It could happen to anyone? Thankfully it doesn't happen to everyone. It is truly sad that there is no comprehensive community system to catch the fallen before they cause so much destruction...no-good parenting, too-liberal consequences, drugs and alcohol readily available, all this is an intentional unfolding of another kind of conquering which has been set forth historically. We need a set of moral rules to live by and mentorship on how to accomplish that and we just don't...not universally anyway.
'Just say no' is a nice saying but it's just the tip of the iceberg.
I truly wish us well and have to pull back a little and just observe and choose my response.
You hit the nail on the head my friend- it starts w/ the parents. It’s starts when you’re born & what you’re born into. None of us get a choice in that. We’re all trapped in the circumstance our prospective parents chose to raise us in. And that can be a benefit, or in my nephews case, a detriment 🥺
In most cases, yes. However, I personally know some "anomalies". One, for instance, is one of my employees. He didn't have "responsible parents". He, as he puts it, "raised himself". He has a family, a good job, he holds a mortgage, and he's a responsible citizen in society. He is the type of person who demonstrates that we have choices in life.
I applaud him! That’s fantastic! Unfortunately, we’re all wired a little different & have vastly different thresholds. When just one man manages to escape from a burning building, that doesn’t mean the ones who perished made the choice to do so. Not everyone that’s trapped has the capacity to absorb trauma while raising themselves out of the ashes
He was also shown kindness. This is key. Keep showing kindness to others. That doesn't mean a "hand-out", but it means to have fellow-feeling for others that dignifies them.
This young man worked hard. He strove to learn. He isn't perfect, but he "maneuvered" in the right direction.
If every individual in society decided to behave in this way, not destroying property, but showing kindness, and the like, then many problems would resolve themselves.
Ok, start name calling. I see you- I wasn’t accusing you of blasting your past online. It’s not all about YOU, you know. I was simply stating that it’s not for me, which is a perfectly acceptable choice for me to make. I won’t be guilted into doing so by being called a troll.
Marolee "Mimi" Smith Devorak has made MANY great statements here on The Watchdog, which I and many others are indeed grateful for~! Her viewpoints, input, and support of other reasonable common-sense Individuals has been a refreshing change, from the usual attacks upon good folks who really do care about our community and the future health of folks within it. I was unaware of her interests in being involved in government, however I appreciate her well-considered viewpoints and will support her wherever she may go and whatever she may want to do~! We all need to improve how we choose the folks that we allow in government at ALL levels, or we are never going to correct the dangerous trajectory/path that our community is on and put an end to the financial malfeasance & crimes that the government has been involved in. Sincerely, Mike
They don't want public engagement. They are there to "advise' the Commissioners says Latrisha Suggs. 6 times now is multiple Clallam County meetings I have heard that public comments dont matter. Or I don't care about public comments.
Any positive news out there? Maybe merit-based achievements, outstanding citizens, or history that regular folks with common sense would understand. Thanks for spot on facts and accuracy of our “flexible”government, bending to king(queen) for a day. Make us folks proud of our County and it people.
There are good people doing good things...unfortunately the controllers take advantage of the fact that the good ones are busy doing good and don't have much time or energy to engage with the madness of politics...our goodness is a distraction exploited by the sociopathic controller community. They eat their own in the end but they do a lot of damage in between. This is why revolutions come to be...old, old story!🤓
It would be an interesting topic people could report back on. Anyone in the PASD submit your questions to the LWVs and see just how many make it.
I was looking at Nina's business offerings and would suggest she advertise for visitors of the ONP to see the ecological mess she and her associates left behind as a result of their temper tantrum.
I love trees too! I have hugged a few and cut down and harvested quite a few back in the day.
I am grateful for the Old Growth that has been preserved. I believe that we should save ALL of the true Old Growth we have left but I'm not optimistic...there's not that much left anyway...Look at Google Earth to see the logged-off patterns everywhere.
That being said, these Nina S. type people are programmed radicals who are often paid or are infiltrated into gov't positions where they get paid to 'take down the system'.
I don't know Nina but I saw Bruce Emery trying patiently to explain the intricacies of cross -agency cooperation in forest management. He was obviously aware of her radicalism and trying to communicate so she would understand.
She will not understand, because she is hard-wired for radicalism...a product of decades of brainwashing in the centers of 'higher learning'.
I remember the bumper sticker: "Earth First-We'll Mine The Other Planets Later"
I unfortunately think this is the more likely progression of humanities activities!😊
Why is an Island County Superior Court judge's phone number, also used by multiple counties used as a call in for this "non partisan" league of women voters forum? Who owns this phone number used by multiple counties?

What can we do to help? I don't see a 'contribute' on your web site.

Maybe Jeff and I could buy signs. Right now the landfill is what it is but getting these bums out of office is of far greater importance.
I like Barhop!😎
Slugfest 2025. Red Ryder bb gun and beer. What could go wrong? Just need some acreage infested with the slimy buggers.
Good luck!

I have an idea on how to eliminate three $108k salaries, and I don't think we would notice a change :)
Yep!🤓 Over $400,000 when you add in all the perks!
Could fix quite a few potholes for that!
Where the hell did it come to pass that we need imbeciles to manage gov't when the dept. heads usually are competent and do a good job.
Oh, yeah...someone has to steer us into tyranny for the greater good!😱
Government efficiency is out of the gates with your idea and publications.

Not likely but a high ideal...we can't legislate morals...those are personal choices and we have fallen far!

Cheetos are so full of oil that you can make a candle out of one in a pinch.
That's a flaming Cheeto!🤣
I buy them only for power outages.
Dear Ms Sarmiento, the CC Clown Car is full. Lunatic fringe is taking over everywhere. It's a real Fisch-ee world in CC.
