The commissioners did not respond to yesterday's question about unreported incidents of assault and violence in Tumwater Creek. Here is today's email:

Dear Commissioners,

The first vision of your mission statement says your role is “putting the translated desires of our residents into action through effective communication.” Residents—not special interests, top campaign donors, and not sovereign nations.

Right now, there’s a petition with over 1,160 signatures from Clallam County residents opposed to transferring two National Wildlife Refuges out of public ownership. At the same time, it appears the county may be leaning toward supporting that transfer, or at least not opposing it.

Would you consider sending a letter to our federal representatives supporting your constituents who want to keep these refuges in public hands?

If not, how are you weighing the expressed concerns of residents against other voices in this decision?

When Ron Allen goes to a bigger stage, Washington DC, to ask for land, money or whatever, is he ever called a whiner or complainer? No. That would be racist, speaking of another human that way.

So Mr Ron Allen. You dealt. I’m playing my race card in my home town. So if you use those words again, “whiner” or “complainer”, when asked questions or seek a solution, you’re a racist. Stop and listen to White or First People. Democrat or Republican. Man or woman. We don’t appreciate being pushed around by name callers. A cheap tactic that’s become the norm the past 10 years. Koon-by- ya.

True enough, Patriot 4 reasonable development~!

The interesting thing to me is that IF the so-called "White Americans" were really prejudiced and really hated American Indians, they would have very easily erased ALL of them at any time with great ease and no one and nothing could have ever stopped them~! That goes for the Black folks and ALL of the other races. So, considering that very honestly and carefully, the ONLY "systemic racism" that exists in America is actually in the government and specifically only coming from the politicians that use racism as a weapon to divide Americans against each other so they can kill us all (like the COVID mass murder agenda) and to steal our freedom & rights, and of course to rob us of our money & properties~! There really can't be any other possible reason for this constant racist, gender, and sexuality war against Americans when folks think about it... Hopefully, Americans will wake up and quit taking the bait that these criminally corrupt politicians keep using to destroy Americans and America itself, because they really don't care who they rob and murder~!!! Have a mellow week and keep up the great work~!

Sincerely, Mike

I would like to know if there’s gonna be another work session regarding this land grab. If there’s a way we can find out ahead of time I suggest that we go and we protest since the public’s not allowed we can be on the court yard lawn and with our signs. And I also for one will never spend another dime in that casino again we should be boycotting them, but that’s just my opinion.

Now about the free showers. You should never leave your kids alone for a moment you never know who’s gonna be in that locker room or change room. I being from California originally never let my kid be unattended for anything not even going to the bathroom by himself. the world has turned into a very scary place. We must be forever vigilant to take care of our kids. Wishing everyone a happy Monday.

I stopped patronizing all JKT facilities, that I'm aware of, since the Town Road debacle. I'm sure that JKT has their corporate advertising in full view somewhere to make us aware.

Geoff Fox's avatar

Is it also fair to ask the question, What businesses in the County have signed the petition?

Michael Heath's avatar

Yes, Patriot Eric Fehrmann~!

Vote with your wallet first and always vote with due diligence research and honor~!

We here have gone from supporting the Jamestown tribe, to absolutely refusing to spend a penny on ANY of their business concerns~! We used to spend at least several thousand dollars a year at the Jamestown businesses, not including our friends and family that used to frequent their businesses every year as well, but like you, years ago we went to "zero tolerance" because we will NEVER fund our own community's demise at the hands of criminal thieves~! Now, it is our lifelong agenda to absolutely refuse ANY business with the Jamestown tribe forever, and we go out of our way to inform as many as possible about the betrayals of the Jamestown tribe every single day~! We prefer an inclusive community where folks get along and help each other, but the Jamestown tribal government has ended that possibility forever as far as we are concerned~! It is THEIR constant thieving underhanded racial assault upon humanity that required our Constitutional response~!

Sincerely, Mike

Evrita, thank you! Having children in a library under direct supervision with possible Pedophiles using the bathrooms is scary enough, but having children half dressed around people with dubious backrounds is absolutely terrifying. We've lost our local parks and playgrounds. Good God Almighty, we've lost our values.

When did the standards change from Women and Children First, to Less Fortunate, Drug Addicts, Homeless First. Children are our future.

Susie Blake's avatar

I'd say the library is more dangerous due to the cultivated staff ideology. At the pool you know people are going to be changing, so kids not mature enough to keep themselves safe from predators and respect privacy of others should be accompanied to locker room anyway. The library staff KNOWS convicted pedophiles hang out there and defends their right to do so, yet many parents are unaware and assume it is safe.

Susie Blake's avatar

The small "family changing rooms" have single showers and are not just for "family" groups. Sometimes there is a short wait for one to be available but I use those or wait until I get home. As a sometimes private nanny I know littles are in the locker room with parents often. I have no desire for a kiddo I have babysat to run across me wrestling a wet suit off with my arthritic shoulders, or to relive the trauma of high school gym class. It's really odd that the main women's locker room has no privacy for the shower "stalls" like they couldn't have figured that out in the remodel. What is the point of a stall if one side is wide open? There are many reasons why an adult might not want to change in a congregate area that has less privacy than a high school locker room from the 70s.

Jennifer's avatar

Susie, has it gotten to deciding the lesser of evils? I'm so glad I don't have to make that decision for the safety of MY children, but both of us are very aware that times and places of safety have changed. You are, to me, a person at ground zero. I appreciate all your input!

THE DUNGENESS NATIONAL PARK IS NOT FOR SALE.

PROTECTION ISLAND IS NOT FOR SALE

However an interested party, Jamestown, has written to the owner of these properties inquiring. Not inquiring if they are available and can be purchased. They have written the owner and want to be GIVEN, yes given for free, the properties. The neighbors (Sequim City Council) and co-owners saw no problem with handing over very valued properties to the corporation who writes a letter & expects the land transfer (grab).

County & local city government officials (not leaders) really can’t be this stupid, can they? WHAT KIND OF OFFICIAL WOULD EVER CONSIDER GIVING TOP VALUED LAND AWAY FOR FREE TO ANYONE? This is a very serious issue, perhaps criminal in nature, at least a mental health concern perhaps needing immediate referral for evaluation. Residents need to show up, stand up, speak up & pen letters.

UFOCCWD's avatar

Ron allen is just trying to take advantage of clallam co & state ignorant officials that are easily brainwashed by using tribal pity issues. When tribes like JST-JKT have been given mass freebies they expect these lucrative grants and land grab request to continue on a never ending basis.Certain tribes seem to be targeting weak simple minded people that will let con artist out dumb them to get freebies.

Someone Someone's avatar

The owners will end up voting for it as part of some congressional spending bill or something else.

Susan C Bonallo's avatar

You are right. These things always become add ons at the end of a bill that really deserves support. Next thing you know, Dungeness Wildlife has a sign that says trespassers will be shot, heads mounted on Longhouse walls.

We need to stop this before it goes further and sell outs give public lands away. We are not responsible for whatever the tribe blames us for in the past. We are not culpable of their perception of history or obligated to make it right for one small group of people. I hate Bullies, we are being bullied. Do the three blind mice have so little power or guts to take a stand? Quit selling us out. That land grab map of CC reminds me of the Wild West when conversations broke down and people stood their ground. Sure would be special if we felt LE had our backs.

A sad truth here is that Ron Allen / the JST controls a very fat checkbook. It is completely overlooked that the JST already owns the Dungeness Spit and Protection Island via their USA citizenship. They / the tribe currently enjoy ownership equal to all other area citizens. Is there any logical justification to give that land ownership exclusively to such a small percentage of the population ? If there is, by all means lay it bare and make that case so the area populace can then vote on it. The justification for giving away our land to a precious few must be more than the ability of those few to write a big check backed by retirement checks cashed at their casino.

MK's avatar

Hey, fantastic comment about equal ownership. Thank you.

They already own it, just want to take it away from everyone else. Why ?

Awesome work Jeff Tozzer, Jake Seegers, and everyone~!

Keep the pressure up to have "our" freedom and rights front and center in this discussion. NOTHING that these criminals in OUR government or the Jamestown tribal government do, is Constitutionally lawful and therefore they will lose IF "we" keep up the pressure and refuse to comply with their insane BS~! It will take some time to unravel the injustices that these criminals in government create, however we just need to keep pushing back on the criminals and hope that the Constitutional common law system fully comes in very soon~! It is on the way and further along than most currently know, so keep the faith~! For ALL of the good folks in our community, especially those who are responsible for their children, PLEASE do not let them out of your sight because they are in danger of harm with the criminals in and outside of government currently slithering through our community~!!! The public Locker rooms and bathrooms are no place to have unsupervised children these days, and it is not worth the risk of hoping that everything will be OK~! ALL Adults also need to be aware and vigilant as well, because staying calm and proactively aware of our environment is the ONLY way to as stay as is possible~!

Enjoy every day in safety and peace ;-)

Our elected officials are feckless in this arrangement with the Jamestown Corporation. Johnny Cash sang about building it one piece at a time, and that's what's happening.

Our Commissioners have no grasp on what they're doing. What is their metric for knowing what decisions they're making, other than emotions?

Vote for a wedge to move this morass in a different direction.

Vote for Jake

Someone Someone's avatar

Mark Ozias, tell Ron Allen that the county would be happy to consider his request for support of the Dungeness land transfer after the tribe signs off on a legitimate and meaningful PILOT to help stabilize county tax rates. The PILOT needs to address current and future Jamestown lands. The tribe also needs to guarantee free Dungeness land access to all US citizens. You have something he needs and he has something you need. Don't just knuckle under. This is how it would go down anywhere else in the US.

4 reasonable development's avatar

SS, these lands are not for sale or to be used as a bargaining chip for anything……the tribes are getting “no property tax trusts”, something citizens of USA aren’t able to have.

Someone Someone's avatar

You have to understand that Cantwell, Murray and Randall are already signed on to this. Whether or not Clallam signals its support is moot. The issue is that Allen wants that support and Clallam should make him pay for it.

Here is my personal version of a letter to all involved agencies on the national level. Thanks for the help drafting this KWP99 and MK. Feel free to copy and make your own changes

Dear

I am writing to express my opposition to “The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Land Transfer Act of 2026,” legislation that would transfer current National Wildlife Refuge lands, comprising the Dungeness Spit and Protection Island National Wildlife Refuges - a total of 1,432 acres, from federal stewardship to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to be held in trust for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.

Clallam County has long experienced a cooperative relationship with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, particularly through collaborative efforts on watershed management and salmon recovery. However, I have serious concerns about this proposed land transfer, which would fundamentally alter the ownership, management framework, and public oversight of these federally protected lands.

The Dungeness and Protection Island National Wildlife Refuges have been managed for decades for the benefit of the all the public as part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Wildlife Refuge System. These areas support critical wildlife habitat, public recreation, education, and scientific research. Transferring these lands from the Refuge System to a trust status under the Bureau of Indian Affairs risks creating inconsistent management practices, reduced public accountability, and potential limits on public access. I believe continued federal management best ensures the transparent, science-based, and conservation-oriented oversight that has long protected these unique habitats.

Additionally, the Refuge lands in question serve a broad constituency extending far beyond Clallam County and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe. They are visited by thousands of people annually, contributing to regional tourism and sustaining businesses in the greater Olympic Peninsula. One of which my husband and I owned and took care of for over 15 years and our daughter and her husband continue to this day. The Juan de Fuca Cottages sits on the edge of Dungeness Harbor overlooking Dungeness Spit. The cottages were built in 1916 and have welcomed thousands of visitors to the Dungeness area over the years. Transitioning these lands into Tribal trust could create uncertainty regarding future access, tourism activity, and the continuity of existing conservation programs, which may impact both residents and local economies. While I respect and value Tribal sovereignty and recognizes the Tribe’s important role as a local partner in natural resource management, I must express concern regarding the precedent such a transfer would establish. Turning over federal refuge lands—designated for national conservation purposes—to a non-federal entity, even under trust status, may invite similar proposals elsewhere, undermining the integrity of the National Wildlife Refuge System as a whole.

I further emphasize that while proponents assert that the transfer will not change existing land uses, such assurances are not permanently binding and could be revisited through future administrative or legal actions. Federal ownership provides the highest level of long-term protection, consistent public engagement, and accountability to taxpayers.

For these reasons, I respectfully urge the delegation to oppose “The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Land Transfer Act of 2026” and instead support continued collaboration among the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Clallam County through existing cooperative agreements. These partnerships offer a proven, balanced approach that preserves both Tribal involvement and federal stewardship to ensure conservation, transparency, and public access in perpetuity.

Sincerely,

In order for you to reach your objective. Copy the JST letter, toss it into Grok or any other AI tool and tell it to draft a letter that includes an opposing view based on your X, Y, and Z concerns. See what it comes up with. Verify everything it gives you, and likely you'll have something available in a few minutes of work.

Then share it here and you'll have done your part to help the community out as others will be able to modify it for their own needs as well.

Then congratulate yourself for having initiated a grass-roots response to motivate others with similar concerns.

Here ya go!

Dear Senator Cantwell and Representative Randall,

On behalf of Clallam County, Washington, we write to express the County’s opposition to “The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Land Transfer Act of 2026,” legislation that would transfer former National Wildlife Refuge lands, comprising the Dungeness and Protection Island National Wildlife Refuges, from federal stewardship to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to be held in trust for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.

Clallam County has long appreciated its cooperative relationship with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, particularly through collaborative efforts on watershed management and salmon recovery. Likely letters to Randall and Cantwell are worth of lining their trash cans given they are schills for the tribes in order to receive campaign contribution to stay in control.

To ensure your opposition is properly addressed by the deciding officials, letters should be formally addressed to the individuals currently leading the relevant federal agencies and congressional committees.

We all can see the actions between Ron Allen, the Commissioners and the state reps. For all appearances Mr. Allen is running this county and wouldn’t we like to know what the commissioners are gaining from this? Is this more exposure for future political positions? I will leave other thoughts silent for now. What we do know is that the elected commissioners in this county do not support the residents here first. We “whiners” write letters and letters and receive responses so they can say they are responding to them, that’s it. They have no intention in any serious listening. Their minds are made up already. Clearly, we are considered a nuisance and when Ron Allen tells the commissioners to “set us straight”, sounds like they are getting clear instructions from the boss. They have no plan to change anything or to reduce homelessness, harm reduction, stopping any land transfer. My spiney senses sure would like to know what they are getting from letting Mr. Allen boss them around. They move fast and so many things going on, we all can do our work by focusing on different topics and scrutinizing as much as possible and let them know we are watching and questioning. Let’s swamp them with letters and attendance and let them know our county is not for sale. It takes a village and we start with Jake and then replacing another commissioner next year.
