The county auditor team did that election and Ian Hillman is very good. The trouble is no check on citizenship and voter rolls are outdated. I shake Ian's hand for his efforts on a clean count.
Just read this morning Judicial Watch just claimed 6 million names gleaned from voter rolls so far across the nation. 6 million! Seems to me there are a lot of auditors not doing there paid for requirements?

Look at how many people are registered to vote at Serenity House, at the local library, in memory-care retirement homes, etc.
It is "suggested" that when a "resident departs" the management is supposed to write "return to sender" and the reason on the ballot, and return it to the county elections office, with the disclaimer "you may receive additional ballots until the county elections office verifies the voter's status, or location, just keep returning the ballots". (Rather wishy-washy.)
If you've been convicted of a felony, once you are out, you can register to vote "you do not need a certificate of discharge to register to vote."
The all-mail-in-voting is complicated by the fact that you can register to vote without a permanent address (there are literally people registered to vote in Clallam County with "outside of Lincoln Park in my RV" and at the local library). In 2019 RCW 29A.08.112(1) was updated that "an applicant who meets all other qualifications for voter registration may not be disqualified solely for lacking a traditional residential address." And, one or more tribal government buildings can serve as residences and/or mailing addresses for voters who live on a reservation or "Indian lands".
State law allows voters to receive "assistance" in voting (in the case of assisted living homes). There are guidelines, but no real rules or teeth in those rules.
As for fraudulent voting -- our Secty of State makes all kinds of claims that if someone votes fraudulently it's a Class C Felony... five years jail, and up to $10k fine. Only, it's never (or very, very rarely used). I find only a few instances. In 2020, guy voted after wife died. Fined $600, 2016, a guy voted twice, lived in Idaho. Fined $2,490.; 2016 another guy -- accused of voting for his late wife. Fine of $740.00. Here's another item from Wednesday (5/6) night CH.4 news TV at 6PM that sucks. WSP person stops a trucker. Trucker doesn't speak English, has no driver's license, and the truck itself has issues and doesn't belong on the road. WSP says this all a NONO don't do this, and issues something and drives off. Trucker drives away, Some 2 weeks later same trucker is in an accident - hit a stopped school bus (no kids on board). Now trucker is arrested and hauled into court in Thurston County. DHS calls the court and says don't let the guy out he is in the country illegally. We'' be down to get him. Guess what the judge did?!
Stoffer tried to have me banned from volunteering at Friend's Place by claiming I starred at him. LIE. I don't find anything remarkable about him to elicit a stare. you can't fight city hall when city hall has no ethics rules, no repercussions for violating OPMA. OPMA enforcement at the state is limited to whistleblowers (who work for the STATE government). The ONLY recourse we have for violations of the Open Public Meetings Act is we can sue them -- but the elected/employee of the county/city are given expensive attorneys (the more expensive the better) and unless you receive a conviction in your favor, you'll be hit with all costs, including "reasonable" attorneys' fees incurred in connection with such legal action, pursuant to RCW 4.84.185 because all action can be considered frivolous and without reasonable cause. (Oh yeah, Rcw 42.30.120was last altered in 2016. Huh, go figure... thanks Inslee)

That means the path forward is clear: elect new leadership, one seat at a time. It starts with electing Jake this year, followed by another commissioner next year, and then a third. Without changing the makeup of the commission, we will continue to see the same patterns — delay, deflection, and a lack of meaningful oversight.
A Public Integrity Unit would provide a structured, impartial mechanism to investigate and prosecute:
• Fraud and misuse of public funds
• Misconduct by elected or appointed officials
• Violations by school district personnel
• Election and campaign related offenses
• Misuse of public property, payroll fraud, bribery, extortion, and related crimes
• Violations of the Open Public Meetings Act
These are not abstract concerns. They are real vulnerabilities in our current system, and recent events have shown how easily conflicts of interest can stall or derail legitimate investigations. A Public Integrity Unit would ensure that no case is left to languish in a distant state office simply because local officials are too entangled to act.
This is a moment that requires collective resolve. It takes a village, and now is the time. If we want transparency, accountability, and a justice system that serves the residents of this county rather than the convenience of its leadership, then we must build the political will to make it happen.
And, YET no one is running against our long-time Prosecuting Attorney. And, YET our State Attorney General isn't interested in prosecuting the theft from the public pool (and the person accused is still on paid administrative leave).

And Jeff, you ask is this situation regarding the 'Yelling Guy on First St.', IT IS absolutely the NORM! I work on First St., and see/experience this EVERY DAY! It is EXTREMELY hard to take! Port Angeles was once a place where, when I was growing up, you could as a young person, walk at night down the sidewalk in/around the town and not have to worry about being assaulted or robbed, etc.

Jeff keeps pacing around Sequim like he is waiting for Woodward and Bernstein to step out from behind the Safeway deli counter, but every time he unveils his “bombshell,” it turns out to be another round of small town drama with shifting alliances, performative outrage, and two men who cannot stop starring in each other’s villain monologues. It is giving Real Housewives of Clallam County: nasty voicemails, Facebook likes treated as state secrets, and a feud that would embarrass a middle school leadership class.
Jim does not come out looking noble, but Jeff does not come out looking investigative either. They are just orbiting each other’s injustices like twin moons of the same planet, each convinced the other is the villain in a drama that barely clears the bar for local gossip.
The deposition he is waving around does not reveal a shadow government. It reveals a messy interpersonal conflict with the emotional wattage of a reunion episode. One witness says Jim behaved badly, and that tracks, but Jeff inflates it into a sweeping conspiracy with the same confidence a reality TV producer has when insisting the wine throwing was “organic”.
He wants a constitutional crisis. He has a cast fight.
And the more he tries to frame Sequim as the set of All the President’s Men, the more it looks like he is filming a cheap TV spinoff. Every anecdote becomes a pattern, every pattern becomes a culture, and every culture becomes a crisis, all narrated by a man who cannot resist inserting his own gripes into the plot like a cameo no one asked for.
If there is a scandal here, it is not corruption. It is the production value.
At this point, the only thing missing from Jeff’s investigation is a reunion couch, a tray of stemless wine glasses, and Andy Cohen leaning forward with that “so… do you regret calling her a groomer on Facebook” look.
Because the way this keeps getting framed, you would think Sequim was Watergate. But the actual plot beats are straight out of Bravo.
Accusations over social media likes. Dramatic monologues about being wronged. Two guys who cannot stop casting each other as the villain in their own storyline. A deposition treated like a confessional booth. And a narrator who keeps inserting himself like he is angling for top billing.

Stoffer tried to have me banned from volunteering at Friend's Place by claiming I starred at him. LIE. I don't find anything remarkable about him to elicit a stare. During public comment at a Charter Review, I referred to him as a rotten S. O. B. which prompted him to file a complaint with the sheriff and asking for security at future charter review meetings. WARNING: How do you think he will stand with you if he perceives you as a threat, or happen to look in his direction?

Parents have much to be concerned about the state of the schools here in CC. Too many serious situations past and present are coming to light, and every parent needs to be aware of them. I am a big supporter of school choice for these reasons and more. Power to the parents!

I can't tell you how many corrupt government entities, NGOs, Groups, and Private "businesses" that I have investigated, that pull the same underhanded games that you have so well described in this article~! There is ALWAYS a very clear and obvious difference between a legitimate leadership and a crooked one. The legitimate leadership takes these kinds of matters VERY seriously, diligently, without playing any games, and quickly removes the cancerous & corruptive Individual from any and all power and influence. They recognize these corrupt individuals as a liability and a lawsuit just waiting to happen! The criminal operations however, ALWAYS immediately work to cover these matters up and "spin" the truth to baffle and confuse folks into assuming that there was no issue AND/OR they baffle and confuse good folks with very obvious Gaslighting techniques that takes advantage of the clueless crowd and ruthlessly punishes anyone who is working to get the truth out to the general public~! Legitimate management deals with these kinds of problems up front and swiftly in a mature & lawful manner, because they are concerned with their mission, reputation, and potential legal ramifications. Criminal management, that is very intentionally & knowingly running a criminal operation, ALWAYS auto-resists responsibility, works to minimalize or completely ignore the criminal acts of their "operatives", and most glaringly they ALWAYS shuffle or recycle their "criminal operatives" around by re-installing them in the same or even higher positions then the one that they previously abused and disgraced, so that their criminal operation will continue to operate as planned~! The only thing that most folks are capable of seeing is "confusion" and that nothing ever changes for the better in a criminal operation. What most tragically assume with a criminally run operation is that the management itself is "good" but that there is a rotten apple that they had to deal with, which is COMPLETELY dead wrong, because the proof that these "rotten apples" are intentionally inserted to commit the crimes and wrong doings is right in everyone's faces all along~! These criminal operations "rob and steal" from their intended victims in countless ways, because money and power are ALWAYS the goal, NEVER make the good faith changes that honest legitimate management makes, and above all they protect their "rotten apples" because they are ALWAYS hired and retained to actually intentionally be "rotten apples"~! We can be assured that whenever management protects and recycles their "rotten apples" that they very intentionally do so because that is their long term "closed door" plan that is being reflected~! They can't really hide their criminal organization, because actions and inactions speak louder than words, but they constantly (above all) work to trick folks into assuming that it does not exist~!!! What "we" here in Clallam County are actually seeing, is a classic intentionally corrupt operation from the top down, and when the corrupt management goes out of its way to spin the truth and to slobber all over one of their most notorious "rotten apples" that they have no intention of ever holding accountable, they are spitting in the face of the population that they are very intentionally abusing, as they grow their power and laugh all the way to the bank~! you can't fight city hall when city hall has no ethics rules, no repercussions for violating OPMA. OPMA enforcement at the state is limited to whistleblowers (who work for the STATE government). The ONLY recourse we have for violations of the Open Public Meetings Act is we can sue them -- but the elected/employee of the county/city are given expensive attorneys (the more expensive the better) and unless you receive a conviction in your favor, you'll be hit with all costs, including "reasonable" attorneys' fees incurred in connection with such legal action, pursuant to RCW 4.84.185 because all action can be considered frivolous and without reasonable cause. (Oh yeah, Rcw 42.30.120was last altered in 2016. Huh, go figure... thanks Inslee)
You can't fight city hall when city hall ONLY listens to outside "advocacy training, and service groups" (such as the nonprofit Association of Washington Cities; the nonprofit Municipal Research and Services Center, Washington City/County Management Association; the nonprofit Washington State Association of Counties) And, change our ordinances in accordance to the big consulting firms who recommend the same crap to all.
We the People have been eliminated from the equation.
We do have an option, and it begins with acknowledging a simple truth: Clallam County will not see meaningful accountability until we change the structure of county leadership and establish an independent Public Integrity Unit. This model is not new. In many states, District Attorneys rely on Public Integrity Units as a standard tool to investigate and prosecute misconduct involving public officials, public funds, and public institutions. Washington may not be familiar with this structure, but that is precisely why it is needed.
Based on the current posture of the three sitting commissioners, it is unlikely that such a reform will even be considered. That means the path forward is clear: elect new leadership, one seat at a time. It starts with electing Jake this year, followed by another commissioner next year, and then a third. Without changing the makeup of the commission, we will continue to see the same patterns — delay, deflection, and a lack of meaningful oversight.
A Public Integrity Unit would provide a structured, impartial mechanism to investigate and prosecute:
• Fraud and misuse of public funds
• Misconduct by elected or appointed officials
• Violations by school district personnel
• Election and campaign related offenses
• Misuse of public property, payroll fraud, bribery, extortion, and related crimes
• Violations of the Open Public Meetings Act
These are not abstract concerns. They are real vulnerabilities in our current system, and recent events have shown how easily conflicts of interest can stall or derail legitimate investigations. A Public Integrity Unit would ensure that no case is left to languish in a distant state office simply because local officials are too entangled to act.
This is a moment that requires collective resolve. It takes a village, and now is the time. If we want transparency, accountability, and a justice system that serves the residents of this county rather than the convenience of its leadership, then we must build the political will to make it happen.
And, YET no one is running against our long-time Prosecuting Attorney. And, YET our State Attorney General isn't interested in prosecuting the theft from the public pool (and the person accused is still on paid administrative leave).
I used to believe we could change it, but given the way the votes keep going to the same candidates, and the elections no matter how close... will find more voters to vote in the same rotten candidates... and so, so many laws have been altered just a bit --- teeny bit, to game the system, and the system was gamed by Inslee (who appointed over 250 judges, with absolutely no judicial oversight... elected judges "stepped down" while people with zero accountability/judicial experience/different viewpoint from Inslee were appointed.
We have been co-opted. We, the people, have been neutered.

And Jeff, you ask is this situation regarding the 'Yelling Guy on First St.', IT IS absolutely the NORM! I work on First St., and see/experience this EVERY DAY! It is EXTREMELY hard to take! Port Angeles was once a place where, when I was growing up, you could as a young person, walk at night down the sidewalk in/around the town and not have to worry about being assaulted or robbed, etc.
Port Angeles COULD BE a BEAUTIFUL destination place! The waterfront/downtown could be as beautiful as Victoria BC! I have never understood WHY the local gov. would NOT want to beautify it! It has HUGE possibilities!

Jeff keeps pacing around Sequim like he is waiting for Woodward and Bernstein to step out from behind the Safeway deli counter, but every time he unveils his “bombshell,” it turns out to be another round of small town drama with shifting alliances, performative outrage, and two men who cannot stop starring in each other’s villain monologues. It is giving Real Housewives of Clallam County: nasty voicemails, Facebook likes treated as state secrets, and a feud that would embarrass a middle school leadership class.
Jim does not come out looking noble, but Jeff does not come out looking investigative either. They are just orbiting each other’s injustices like twin moons of the same planet, each convinced the other is the villain in a drama that barely clears the bar for local gossip.
The deposition he is waving around does not reveal a shadow government. It reveals a messy interpersonal conflict with the emotional wattage of a reunion episode. One witness says Jim behaved badly, and that tracks, but Jeff inflates it into a sweeping conspiracy with the same confidence a reality TV producer has when insisting the wine throwing was “organic”.
He wants a constitutional crisis. He has a cast fight.
And the more he tries to frame Sequim as the set of All the President’s Men, the more it looks like he is filming a cheap TV spinoff. Every anecdote becomes a pattern, every pattern becomes a culture, and every culture becomes a crisis, all narrated by a man who cannot resist inserting his own gripes into the plot like a cameo no one asked for.
If there is a scandal here, it is not corruption. It is the production value.
At this point, the only thing missing from Jeff’s investigation is a reunion couch, a tray of stemless wine glasses, and Andy Cohen leaning forward with that “so… do you regret calling her a groomer on Facebook” look.
Because the way this keeps getting framed, you would think Sequim was Watergate. But the actual plot beats are straight out of Bravo.
Accusations over social media likes. Dramatic monologues about being wronged. Two guys who cannot stop casting each other as the villain in their own storyline. A deposition treated like a confessional booth. And a narrator who keeps inserting himself like he is angling for top billing.
Andy Cohen would wrap this in 42 minutes, commercials included.
He would open with “Jim, walk us through the voicemail. What were you feeling in that moment.”
Then turn to Jeff with “You keep saying there is a system. But the podcast mostly shows you being mad. Thoughts.”
