If I accept the premise of people representing a party, that the opposition is X, Y, or Z (whatever negative connotation) as they suggest, but the manner in which they attack said opponent is as we're seeing, then I have to consider that anyone who opposes their position would be treated similarly. A Democratic Republic cannot function this way.
I want my Commissioner to represent the center, not the people who operate on the far edges of the political spectrum.
My next door neighbors are democrats, but they don't side with these brash, uncouth, foul-mouthed, violent hippies. They do, however, like Jake. And they are well-to-do. Their firm was a sponsor at the Sonny Sixer Auction dinner and tournament, because they are also UW alumni. Intelligent, kind, wonderful people. They don't understand how these people can be such an embarrassment to the community.
Interestingly I have a similar situation with a neighbor couple. It has gone too far for them. They appreciate Jake's true compassion for people, his fiscal restraint, and are tired with how the county is being run.
There are increasing numbers of registered Democrats, and Republicans, voting outside of their party lines. Such a trend began prior to 2024, and put the current President in the Whiteh House, again. Many former staunch party members vote this way, because they, too, woud be shamed, labeled, and shunned by their own party, and in some cases, even family members. One of the greatest challenges in this life, is remaining the individual we are born, and describes those who built, and are building, not tearing down the foundation of our Republic. I was skeptical with Pope Leo because he worked so closely with Pope Francis, and unfortunately, my instincts have been right. The Catholic Church is leaning so liberally that I no longer recognize it. The only people dividing America are those threatening people with differing views and who only want a civil discussion. John Fetterman is right to counter the Pope's comment.
The Catholic Church has tried to interpret the Bible into its way of thinking. U CANT change what was written in the Bible and the Catholic Church has been doing that for years. God only gave us one direction not the ones some of the Popes have decided to take.

A county commissioner contest in Clallam County should be about roads, budgets, public safety, and local services. Instead it has produced stickers of candidate Jake Seegers with deliberate marks on his neck, blood-smeared signs linking him to the President, and open declarations of intent to stop him by any means available. This is not ordinary political hardball. It is pure, disproportionate hatred directed at a man seeking an office that, in the larger scheme of American governance, is modest.
The Charlie Kirk imagery is particularly grotesque. Kirk was assassinated by a gunshot to the neck. Reproducing that detail on stickers of a local candidate, then circulating them around Port Angeles and Sequim, including near the candidate’s own driveway, is not clever satire. It is a visual threat. Treating political murder as a punchline while pretending the message is somehow righteous reveals a profound moral and psychological instability. Decent people do not play dress-up with real assassinations to score points in a county race.
Equally ridiculous is the effort to cast Seegers as a local extension of Donald Trump. One can disagree with Trump, dislike him intensely, even oppose everything he stands for. That does not magically turn a Clallam County commissioner candidate into a national figure whose election would somehow endanger democracy. The leap requires a level of political hysteria that has detached itself from reality. When activists smear “a vote for Seegers is a vote for Trump” across signs and then add fake blood, they are not making an argument. They are advertising that their worldview has collapsed local races into apocalyptic moral theater.
The double standard is glaring. If conservatives produced stickers of an opposing candidate with a simulated neck wound referencing a real assassination, or erected blood-smeared signs tying that candidate to a hated national figure, the reaction would be immediate and maximal: accusations of stochastic terrorism, calls for investigations, demands that party leaders denounce the material, and wall-to-wall media coverage labeling the entire side Nazis, fascists, or extremists. When the same tactics appear on the other side, the response is silence or quiet approval. That selective outrage is not principle. It is tribal license. It shows exactly whose violence, or simulated violence, is considered acceptable.
