This is the kind if organization I wish we’d had for the more impactful (costly) school, hospital, and EMS measures. I have 6 signatures without even leaving my neighborhood. EVERYONE I chat with knows about CCWD and so far the comments have all been along the lines of “I had no idea this was happening!”

Thank you Jeff and Jake for putting this together.

Jeff Tozzer, Jake Seegers, and the great folks in this community are on the right track here as always~! Clearly, we in this community have been warned many times by the very vile actions that the current clown show of commissioners has committed and no one is going to save us from these reprehensible fools who obviously refuse to act responsibly as OUR representatives. As great a job as Jeff Tozzer and the good folks are doing trying to figure out what these rogue commissioners are really up to, we MUST consider the fact that they are VERY likely committing FAR more foolish, self-serving, and even dangerous acts behind all of those closed-door meetings than we ever dreamed of~! The foolish would "assume" that they know what these commissioners are contemplating and conspiring to do, however, the wise who have learned from all of the similar previous cases of rogue governments that have been revealed know full well that there is ALWAYS far more going on in the shadows of these kinds of obvious abusers of the public trust~! Again, I am calling for the removal of the commissioners who have continually intentionally hidden their devious agenda/s, constantly deceived the public, violated the overwhelming public trust and public will, and given "The Finger" of distain to the entire community~! If not now, when will we remove these rogue commissioners? What will it take to awake the folks in our community to the clear and present danger that we already well know that these commissioners pose~? How many good people will have to leave our community or be harmed or even killed, before folks have enough of these disgusting evil dictators who have lied and cheated their way into our government~? I am willing to do more than my part to start the legal process of removing these rogue commissioners from their positions and I am sure that there are at least several others who know these fools now have to go, so "we" are just praying for the support of the good folks of Clallam County to remove the MOST serious problems in our government & community, so that we can work on repairing all of the damage that so many of them have already done~! There is nothing that the good folks of our community can't do, if we purge these kinds of bad actors from our government system everywhere~! Sincerely, Mike

Nothing will change if politicians can continue to line their pockets with taxpayer dollars. Funneling money through NGOS where accountability becomes null and void is their meal ticket. No politician should be on any NGO board, it's a conflict of interest. Politicians gave up working for citizens long ago. Now they simply get rich by taxing the working class into poverty. When will they learn? When we as citizens cant afford to pay anymore or until the citizens are fed up and take matters into their own hands...

I want to add that my family resides on a little under 2.5 acres. We garden, we have chickens and ducks and we also occasionally raise cattle and pigs. We are a family that rely on these sources for food. We share the cost with one other young family.

We are the ones "tightening our belts"!

We oppose this fee!

You need to oppose the kommissars...this is just one small part of their communistic plan. It's bigger than another nuisance tax...they won't stop until we stop them.

I will gladly stand behind that as well. I'm heartbroken to ultimately have to leave this area. I know the back roads like the back of my hand. I've learned to swim in the lakes and caught fish from the rivers. I'm sad my freshly adult children cannot afford to stay here and I'm sad that my youngest will be unable to stay by her friends.

Show me where to sign and I will rally and do it for the clallam county that I love for as long a I can afford to stay here. But its looking bleak.

Yeah, with the internet and 'real' community, we don't need all the overhead hanging over our heads!

It's a planned and predictable course they have us on!

I have looked all over Google Earth and (mostly) Zillow and there are only rarely affordable older properties available for a realistic amount...many of them very rural, which I like, but at our age logistics has to play into it.

The insane inflation in house properties is bad but the inflation in raw land is worse and finding small parcels in a decent climate is squeaky at best!

Best luck and best wishes...stay or go!😊

I haven't left yet. I have so much to do before I can go, and I don't even whole heartedly want to go. So if we can give young families like mine a lil breathing room here and there, then maybe there's some hope.

My shy introverted self is pretty angry now, for all of us, so I hope to help however I can

Well, the best we can do is channel our anger and outrage into something useful...not easy but easier with our CCWD community.

We may get lonely but we're not alone!

I have had to become less introverted myself, hard to believe, I know, but writing and sharing online is less wearying than being out in the wider world, although the anger may lead to wearing diapers to a kounty kommissars meeting. One never knows!

I definitely have to withdraw to rest and recharge...def not an extrovert in the physical!

Oh how fun is this going to be……memories of days gone by….the road they tried to steal from the taxpayers……Towne Road ended up costing Clallam County a whole lot more=people lost jobs (created unemployment) hours were cut (created hardship for workers) & departments have been cut across the board (less services). Remember the Methadone clinic thousands did not want in downtown Sequim…..Jamestown Healing Clinic? How’s that working out? Seeing less homelessness, drugs, & crime? Not me I’m seeing more. How about the attempt to cancel firework celebrations because the nesting birds will get wet from the water sprayed on bushes for fire protection or the noise disrupts nesting eagles a mile away? NOW THIS an inconsequential $5 parcel fee every year for 5-10 years. $200,000 a year, every year. A lot of money that can be spent elsewhere for more serious needs. The CCD can’t properly manage their current budget and will still be in the red with the $5 fee because they can’t effectively manage their department.. We saw the numbers. If I was a Commissioner I’d seriously be concerned, Randy & Mike seriously that alone should have caused a “No” vote! This County enables irresponsibility on every level. What will it take to FORCE the kings running this county to listen to WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT? 3 Commissioners, the government organization creating their empire that serves a few, and 1 person showed up to support more fees and taxes and be damned what the desires of the residents want! It is past time to Practice what you preach Commissioners.

Expand full comment

They ARE practicing what they preach!

That's the problem!

They are telling us what their agenda is...we just have to INTERPRET IT, as it is in 'weasel code' but is plain once you see it! When you know...YOU KNOW!

They are practicing their own agenda while gaslighting and lying to us.

They are reprehensible grey-collar criminals...they will become "mob bosses" if allowed to continue...'corruption is a run-away-train on a 20% grade!'

We don't have much time...we would bail, if a path was clear... but this corruption is going on everywhere at different rates in different jurisdictions...even conservative North Idaho is starting to feel the commie-squeeze!

Looks like we're going to have to fight...and damn the consequences, because eternal slavery is not a good look for MOST of us!😎

Thank you so much, Jeff, for this article! As Jake has distinctly commented, the Commissioners had already made up their minds. They did so with only the pro side presenting their argument for the parcel fee. Where is the con side? Cons could only be heard at the hearing. We were never invited to the table along with the pros. The Commissioners should have formally discussed the proposal AFTER both sides had spoken. Well, we have another opportunity to present the con side, thanks to Dr. Sarah and Jake. I appreciate your enthusiasm and determination for Clallam County to be heard. Washington copied California's Ralph M. Brown Law, to allow the public access to local government meetings. It was enacted in 1953, and spurred on by a 10-part expose in the San Francisco Chronicle by Michael Harris about the lack of transparency in local government. The series title: Your Secret Government" It is a fascinating series...if you like history... and available here: https://www.scribd.com/document/242463384/Your-Secret-Government (yeah, I know the ads are annoying, but the site has scans of the actual articles... and its much easier than how I read these, in the SF Chronicle Newspaper Morgue on microfiche). Part 3 is what seems most relevant... regarding reporters required to secrecy as one mayor said "we just ask the reporters to clear with us what they want to print". Even though it was then state law that all records be open to the public, it wasn't the case. Reporters had to get permission to read records, which were often denied.

If you want a good discussion of Open Public Meetings Act go to the MRSC.ORG, which is the resource for all government in this state. https://mrsc.org/search-results?q=open%20public%20meeting

The problem is -- without ethics enforcement in local government, and no newspaper oversight -- things get sloppy.

If anyone wonders why I completely promote and support Jeff's substack, it is because, I think we are slowly slipping back into the abyss. I'm glad people are waking up. Know your history.

fyi...read the author of the expose's obit: https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Michael-Harris-Chronicle-reporter-who-exposed-5807490.php

He never went to J school, and he worked his way up the ranks of reporter, when it was still a vocation, not a college elective.

Obit: The original act’s preamble was written by Mr. Harris at the request of the California Legislature. “The people of this State do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them,” he wrote. “The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created.”

Change the hopes into reality...if enough of us visualize it along with the feeling of freedom that comes from unchaining ourselves, it IS possible!

I get hopeless everyday when I 'see' the scope of corruption all over the world.

Even 'The Jesus' said he had come to bring a sword which would divide everyone...I believe it is a metaphorical 'sword-of-truth' and it makes perfect sense that it has a polarizing effect...the insane commies will never see anything but 'their narrative'...endless gov't, endless perversion, endless DNA/transhuman 'progress' and 'anything goes' cultures...all in the name of goodness for goodness sake, all unsustainable while being packaged as sustainability!😎

We also need to restrain our endless consumption of everything as unrestrained population and capitalism is disastrous as well...maybe we need another great flood!
