What comes to mind is: "If the mountain won't go to Mohammed, then Mohammed must come to the mountain." They are finally feeling the pressure of your actioons.
Over four months ago, the Marine Resources Committee recommended that residents of the 3 Crabs neighborhood in Dungeness should retreat from their homes, effectively calling for the removal of both private property and the county road. Since that time, the Board of Commissioners has made no public statement on this recommendation. Do the commissioners support, oppose, or reject the idea of displacing county residents under this proposal?
In the past, Commissioner Ozias said the county was exploring co-management agreements with local tribes for our county parks, citing Sonoma County, California as a model. Is Clallam County still pursuing or considering this idea?
At a time when commissioners are considering cutting essential services and asking residents to raise their property taxes, how do you justify spending taxpayer money on a county poet laureate position?
The laptops used by commissioners are county property, purchased with taxpayer funds for official business. Some commissioners have placed stickers on these laptops, including political ones, while keeping their own personal items—like coffee mugs—plain. Can you explain why you believe it is appropriate for elected officials to place personal or political stickers on county-owned property that does not belong to them?
I have several but first I would like to know about the grants they just received and where this money is going? They are wanting a increase in the levy and I say absolutely not
In his Sequim Gazette column, Commissioner Ozias claimed that the Towne Road realignment project cost local taxpayers less than $1.1 million. But according to the County Administrator’s own presentation to the Board of Commissioners, $1,305,978 in local funds were spent, drawn from the County Road Fund and Real Estate Excise Tax funds. Which figure is accurate?
In the past, Commissioner Ozias suggested exploring the idea of supporting local media with tax dollars, saying, ‘I don't know to what extent local governments can help be a part of helping to maintain local press. I don't know if that's an appropriate role for us in any way, shape, or form.’ Is this idea still being explored or considered by the Board of Commissioners?
The cultural access tax has been promoted twice now by a majority of commissioners. Leaked emails showed that one commissioner was actively encouraging special interest groups to manufacture the appearance of widespread public support, even though that support wasn’t truly there. Which commissioner was involved in that effort, what is the current status of the cultural access tax, and how do you justify keeping county residents in the dark when transparency should be the foundation of public trust?
Given how widespread and never-ending the "homeless problem", I suspect that it is a money-laundering operation, so I would like to know how much money they had for the "homeless problem" and a breakdown of how it was spent.
Regretfully, I have another commitment and cannot attend, but it's a question that should be asked.
Seems like whenever I have passed through Blyn there is no homeless problem there. Bet what happened to our reader from PA going to her yoga class in PA wouldn't have occurred in Blyn. Much security is present in terms of security personnel and cameras. No tents, no homeless ranting and raving in the area. Yet in Sequim like at Seal St. and PA! now why is that? Why do we always have to have our heads swiveling 360 degrees at all times. we have to watch out for ourselves! Regretfully I too have a prior commitment and cannot attend. So many excellent questions already appearing here. You Go JEFF!
All PA would need to do is pass a NO CAMPING OR LOITERING WITHIN CITY LIMITS or ...WITHIN COUNTY LIMITS. I'll bet the Tribe tells any wannabes "Sorry, we don't allow that here". End of story! But Clallam County views these bums as a money-laundering opportunity. Why else does it perpetuate AND attract outsiders for all the perks? Free pizza and boofing kits! Maybe free crack pipes too. Come one, come all.
the free crack pipes are real, but I totally understand the compulsion to believe we couldn't possibly be spending funds to give narcotic use tools to addicts. The harm reduction provided by Clallam county offered me three different types when I asked for one. When I volunteered helping with community clean ups it was common to find the kits all over town.
Okay, I'll ask the question. The word being used is Clallam County in both responses. Is it Clallam County? or for instance, is it "money laundering" as someone suggests (and John says emphatically YES) and kits all over town, but that it is just taking place on designated non-tribal lands? That being said, maybe the non-tribal part of the county needs to learn from the tribal part of the county (?, wrong terminology!) how to make these issues disappear from our streets and neighborhoods. No doubt that this "schooling" will not include topics like: "How to build expensive apartments or provide "kits all over town".
It is a money laundering operation. I have served on the Homeless Task Force for seven years. (I'm the formerly homeless guy) Some contractors are legitimate but the ones with politicians on the board of directors and multiple contracts have gotten naughty. You are fighting city hall when you call attention to the fraud waste and abuse, overcharges double charges wage theft and plunder of taxpayer dollars. We need DOGE right here.
The Board of Commissioners has publicly stated support for the Jamestown Tribe’s expansion of its land base through trust acquisitions, even noting that the Tribe is ‘building the land base to which they are entitled.’ At the same time, the Marine Resources Committee has recommended the removal of private property owners from the 3 Crabs neighborhood. How does the Board reconcile its role as elected officials representing county residents with its support for land expansion by a sovereign nation? On what basis do you decide whose land claims or rights are given priority?
Yay, Jeff and Eric! You two have been consistently asking for Q & A time with the Commissioners, and they have finally agreed to a session. I, too, hope it is not just this once, but a regular item on the agenda. I have many questions, so I'll have to submit mine later. Congratulations, CCWD and all readers/listeners!
They better be looking to get that federal funding to clear County powerlines and power grid. There is enough timber encroaching on our infrastructure to employ hundreds. They have had the available funds since April. Not one hire has been made. That's a living wage job to help young families to prosper here. They would rather obey North Olympic Land Trust and the wacky enviro league.
Here is my question - I pay taxes on my home, why do I have to subsided the homes for others? That being the tribe through their land in trust (free ride on that property) and for those who have no homes. At what point do we stop? I "signed up" for being responsible for myself and my family and I want to keep it that way.
We stop this behavior when we stop electing the current mindset that controls this county, and the state. I don't foresee anything changing until that happens. For you, or anyone else, what it means is ensuring that every family member you know is voting, and that you are engaging your neighbors and friends to the topic and ask that they not only vote with that in mind but that they also move the topic along to their friends and family asking them to do the same.
Many questions come to mind. I think this is a good place for them to be prepared for what might be asked of them.
Edited: If not already in place and a requirement to receive public funds, has the BOCCC considered a business plan needs to be submitted along with any requests for public funds from any organization that requires the plan to identify the ROI (return on investment) of those funds, require follow up by the receiving organization when the funds have been expensed that demonstrates the actual ROI, and that they account for how each dollar is spent so as to avoid a requirement for them to open their books to a PRR? If an organization fails to adhere to the requirements would the BOCCC support suspending the organization's ability to submit for public funds for something like 5 years?
Wow Jeff, this is fantastic!!!!!! What a step forward!!!! Thank you so much for all you have done.
Congratulations, Jeff.

DOGE needs authority. In a blue state its a letter to Santa..
Time for a local Eyman to run county initiative.
That’s why Bill W never took money from John D Rockefeller !

Are the commissioners looking into the DNR pausing Clallam County timber sales? If not, why?

Is this level of accounting and transparency not in place at present?
I might have to pull my foot out of my mouth if I'm wrong, but I've not heard of what I recommend being in place.
