A sex offender’s journey from Illinois to Clallam County raises new questions about homelessness, public safety, and the county’s harm-reduction strategy
The commissioners did not respond to an email asking if they think the county's harm reduction policies are attracting addicts from outside the county. Here is today's email sent to all five Shore Pool Boardmembers:
Dear Shore Pool Boardmembers,
At the recent public safety town hall, Commissioner Johnson indicated that, on average, approximately one voucher recipient uses the program each day. If that is accurate, why can't this level of demand be accommodated by existing social service providers that already offer shower facilities, such as Serenity House and other organizations serving individuals experiencing homelessness?
Commissioner Johnson also stated that Healthy Families is distributing shower vouchers. This appears to differ from previous information provided to the public, which identified only the Harm Reduction Health Center and Saint Vincent de Paul as distribution points. What is the complete list of organizations currently distributing vouchers, and has that list changed since the program was reinstated? If so, when were those changes made?
Denise Lapio I realize that the question is rhetorical but IMO the question illustrates the major problem. All of the residents of Clallam County do not share the same goals.

That alone is not a death sentence to a community but it does offer an important signal and harbinger of future events expressed by James Q. Wilson. Within the last decade I have watched a very low quality of humans enter Sequim. As they arrive the carpetbaggers wish to supply them with funds and government resources.
Jake is running for us to be heard. He has a stand up character who won't bash. That in itself tells you of the respect he has for all.
Safety first with s plan to get us there sounds way better than bigger government can fix it!
I'll stand by Jake's integrity and he understands the barriers he has to get through. If he gets rid of Allison Berry he'll achieve a big start in our brighter future...

I am a regular lap swimmer and can attest I have seen a decline in inexperienced personnel, PAPD incident reports, and pool cleanliness. Ryan Amiot is in over his head. It makes me nausea about any homeless individual setting foot into the William Shore Aquatic Center.
French's finger pointing to outsiders is his most concerning statement for me. Who is he defending? If only one criminal outsider came to CC for its freebies, I'd be asking multiple questions and waving a red alert flag. And/ or is he referring to "climate migrants", his euphemism for illegal aliens/immigrants? Got back from Freedom Con Christian Men's conference at the Gorge. Amazing. This is just a shout-out to Jeff and Jake and all you who are persistent in being watchers in Clallam and helping to tend this garden.
Mike French is patently wrong. A deep dive and multiple anthropology studies are not needed to realize when you feed Pigeons you get more Pigeons. Another perspective might be to ask does harm reduction repel/discourage/stop/reduce homelessness ? Compassion has its place, but it too easily becomes enabling. You do not cultivate what you do not want. It's like Clallam County is chain smoking and then surprised to get a cancer diagnoses.
I am bothered by the word compassion. Child predators, murderers, and sex and drug traffickers do not warrant my compassion. Mike French lumps all homeless individuals into one term in order for criminals and victims to receive "compassion."
Fast forword the compassion debate to the worst of crime and punishment. You get to capital punishment which is endlessly debated with no consensus. We have leaders saying capital punishment is not a deterrent; compassion ? Possibly true in deterring that behavior, but once you kill a killer, they cannot kill again.
According to a 4PA clean-up crew member, often times homeless individuals' clothing becomes covered in feces due to the use of Boofing Kits. Why can't they take showers at TAFY & get new clothes in 1 trip?
Why is it that elected officials tend to not listen to the question, think about it, and say, "That's an interesting question. I don't know the answer, I'll have to look into it" instead of going into defense mode where a position is taken?
For some reason I think that people see this as a sign of weakness if you can't answer a question or don't have an answer to something. On the contrary, I think it's a sign of strength to admit that you don't have all the answers, but you will look into them.
While I certainly approve and support our public comments and continuing pushback of these absolutely horrific policies, I often wonder how long it will be until the general population here takes serious actions to remove these intentionally deaf, dumb, and blind criminals from our government and hopefully from our community~?
Yes, indeed, I am also monitoring the growing CCWD audience and contributors with great interest! There is a movement for freedom all across the US and world now! We certainly have our serious problems right here in Clallam County, but this article was just released that reveals the many criminals "we" have had for a very long time in the entire governmental system in the US! The swamp! President Trump and the white hats are pulling the plug of secrecy on the entire criminally corrupt government, so that he can free ALL Americans and return America back to them as he promised he would do! We here have been aware of these atrocities for decades, but the sleeping sheep just would not listen... Oh, and this article "below" is not even revealing 5% of the truth, but "baby steps" are needed otherwise many Americans would completely melt down ;-) Keep the faith my friend, because there will be a LOT more truth heading our way now!

I had to actually quit watching and just listen to the debate cause of French's behaviour. Times have changed an in some ways not at all for the better.

I don't know why the churches up here aren't getting involved. There seems to be a church on every corner. When I lived in St. Petersburg Florida, there was a park downtown taken over by the homeless and drugs. Catholic Charities donated land for a encampment. The park emptied because the police had a place to take them. People could go back to enjoying it.
