We were shopping for us as well as my daughter’s family of five so we had two shopping carts (@ Wally World) to keep stuff separate. I feel like I age at least a year after every trip. I see that term thrown about more often these past few years and have come to the conclusion, that for the way my head packages things anyway, “Awake” can be seen as a bar chart with columns in that being different subjects to be awake about. For instance, I have a relative who all of a sudden, around Covid Era became very awake on that subject as she has two kids she wanted to protect from her husband and was facing an upcoming divorce. She dug deep on the C-19 stuff and has since moved away to the Right as the Overton Window moved leftward. But, as far as the economy, coming collapse of the economy, or “Global Economic Reset” as some may call it, she hasn’t a clue. If one needs a bogey man scary thing to motivate oneself to perhaps prep to some degree, the “GSR” has been at the top of that column in my “Awake Bar Chart” since 2010. THIS was the prime motivator for much of my tasks since then until about seven years ago when my wife clued me on the subject of “Catastrophism” and the 6,000 and 12,000 year cycles pertaining to that. And now we have war and the possibility, or great likelihood in my opinion, of Sleeper Cells made up of some of the millions of illegal invaders allowed in by Biden and his Border Czar, Harris. When a couple can balance out each other’s interests and knowledge it sure helps in the “am I really seeing all this BS?” department. I have known a lot of couples, back when I socialized more where one half of the couple was very awake and the other half was not. Like being married to a dumbed down hard core liberal like in the case of one couple I knew. Now divorced.

Treating it like a diagnostic instrument for systemic collapse does not reveal deep civic rot. For me, that is exactly why good governance matters. We may not be able to solve every broken part of the human condition, but we are still responsible for how we order public life here at home. Local government cannot redeem the world, but it can reduce avoidable suffering, restore trust, set boundaries, and create conditions where sanity, dignity, and responsibility have a better chance to take root.
I also agree that forgiveness matters — but I do not think forgiveness relieves public institutions of accountability. In my view, both are necessary: grace for human beings, and clear expectations for the systems meant to serve them.

Of all the potential occupations available, law enforcement is not one I would choose. Yes, I definitely do see your point, and one would/could assume that is logical, however there is a HUGE problem whenever the government declares any "prohibition" on anything, especially drugs, alcohol, sexual activity, or anything else that folks in society historically do regularly "naturally partake in". Personally, I and I believe many would totally agree, that the more serious and dangerous drugs (definitely including many dangerous pharmaceutical drugs that are currently being over prescribed) need to be better controlled and honest education efforts made about them. Like anything else, cannabis used incorrectly and/or in the wrong hands can lead to negative consequences. Most folks are sadly ignorant of the fact that the use of Cannabis alone has NEVER been linked to a single death of anyone ever using it strictly by scientific laboratory testing & honest medical standards & records. The REAL scientists laugh at the fact that the so-called "lethal amount" of cannabis is in the TONS of cannabis, which would be quite impossible to smoke! You would just take a nice long nap after smoking a single 1/2 ounce or so depending upon strength. Very amusing ;-) So, cannabis is FAR safer than Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol. One blatant lie is when these evil extremists say that cannabis is stronger now, which is pure BS because the commercial seeds have been "propagated" (controlled) to be FAR less powerful (especially in Washington State where the government has always strictly controlled the seeds for retail cannabis consumption ;-) Anyone can easily verify this fact by simply looking up the regulations for growing commercial cannabis in Washington State. This of course makes folks have to buy more cannabis to have the same effect, which results in the government making GOBZ more money in taxes~! HA~! What a shock huh? Anyway, folks who smoke retail cannabis know the truth, especially if they had been smoking it before so-called "legalization". Everyone just smoking cannabis since it was legalized or those who never smoked it, or just smoked it once or twice long ago, would obviously be absolutely clueless and therefore subject to whatever the criminals in government say = Brainwashing~! That said, the truth about cannabis "edibles" is FAR more complicated, because there are SOME edible products that are very powerful because they are highly concentrated THC, even though cannabis is NOT a "hallucinogen = with any psychedelic effect" as some love to lie about to scare folks into the fear porn hysteria matrix... Cannabis is NOT physically addictive, but it can be mentally addictive, especially for those who have a weakness of addictive behavior. Anyway, you sure can have an uncomfortable experience if you use high strength Cannabis edibles, especially if they are produced for serious medical patients, so being stupid wins stupid prizes as always... Believe it or not, it is actually the evil big drug pharmaceutical Industrial complex that has always vilified cannabis use, because MANY of their FAR more dangerous drugs would be proven to be ineffective compared to proper cannabis use by medical patients. Cannabis helps many millions of medical patients every day, so be EXTREMELY careful not to fall for the lies (because some day you may need cannabis yourself). Ha! I know that folks laugh at that, but they have not heard the many testimonies from the "just say no" fools, who sang a different tune when they needed real help for a condition that they later developed... Humnas are always hypocrites when they ignorantly assume anything and we ALL need to be on guard against that ;-)) Actually, as scientists "we" here would welcome ANY honest debate involving cannabis use in the general public, because we both actually attended THE most reputable school that educates folks on cannabis in the US about 16 years or so ago... I am a professional student, so I was the class valedictorian (because no one beats me in the educational matrix) and my wife, a college honors student, was 2nd in the class ;-) I would easily wipe the floor with anyone who was a novice on the subject, including ANYONE in the medical industry who didn't know the truth, and ESPECIALLY those who got their information from the corrupt media cabal that played such an evil role in the COVID mass murder democide~! Ha! And no. we didn't have any "samples" in school because it is a strictly an educational University... We don't smoke pot here, but we by oath must always defend Americans who need defending... I am unaware of any of these reveals pertaining to any "drugs" per se, but I/we don't know all of the 6,000+ truths that will be revealed. Because we are accomplished scientists we have already personally "re-discovered" a couple of these things that will be revealed in due time. Small things like at least one cure for the common cold. That is actually an easy and cheap one... We have not had a common cold for decades, but apparently no one really cares about that. That is what President Trump was accused of revealing by the criminals of humanity, when they lied and said that he was suggesting that folks drink "pool chlorine" as a remedy for so-called "COVID"! HA! That is one HUGE rabbit hole of lies and deceptions, but President Trump tried to wake folks up and he was crucified for it as always... Now everyone should be well aware that Ivermectin and the other cheap and easy nontoxic remedies for colds and the flu were deliberately attacked by the criminals so that the sheep would take the dangerous and deadly COVID vaccines... So, as I said, quite a few of these reveals are already in the general public for folks who want to research them. One of the absolutely greatest medical advances that is NOT yet available to the general public because it is under the strictest control by the US Military, is now being called "Med Bed" technology and THAT is going to absolutely destroy the criminally corrupt medical Industrial complex~! Part of the problem is biological. Mammals respond favorably to endorphins and dopamine. I never understood the concept of stoicism and accepting pain. Perhaps if one consumes the perfect diet and avoids alcohol he/she will live longer but if no pleasure exists why would anyone wish to live longer?
In writing today, I was just again thinking about the "endorphin effect" myself and how the "endorphin junkies" constantly crave it~! HA! I have had a very good and blessed life, all things considered, but "pain management" is something that all of us have to work on, especially in this world that has been dominated by evil criminals of humanity for thousands of years. I am actually amazed by how many Americans have been able to enjoy a reasonable degree of happiness & healthy pleasure, in spite of the insanity and constant torture of the criminals that we have had to deal with. These days of what is clearly a "mass awakening", as slow as it has been, I often find myself wondering exactly what the response will be when enough folks finally realize just how many of these evil criminals have been deceiving and harming folks intentionally~? When "they wouldn't do that" suddenly turns into "They meant to do that"~! and "BOOM"! Ignition point~! I am 100% sure that President Trump and the white hats are well aware of that eventuality, so my guess is that they have plans to head off any vigilante justice where average Americans engage in an enormous very real "witch hunt"~! This is an amazing military operation to have been watching for years now, so I guess that we shall just have to see how everything unfolds and hope that folks can restrain themselves from becoming highly emotional when they FINALLY figure things out. Ha! Yes, Individual happiness & pleasure is a MAJOR reason for our existence and the true essence of our lives. I am 100% sure that God, The Creator, wants us to be happy, as a most important part of our lives, along with us behaving well and avoiding doing harm as much as possible. So personal pleasure is critical, as long as it is not at the expense of others personal pleasure. That sure is all easier said, than done, but that is why "we" are all in this learning experience. The Great Test ;-) I am afraid that those who lead selfish lives are not going to pass this test, but folks who really do care about others and this amazing world that we have been gifted are bound to pass this oldest of tests. Why else would "we" be here, if it was not to learn, improve ourselves, and work to leave this world better off than we found it~? Besides, one of the best ways to learn the truth about our world that is difficult to see, is to look carefully for the "tells". The "reflection" of the truth. The ripples in the still pond that were caused by something cast in it that we could not see... The criminals of humanity, especially MOST politicians, and these dirty evil "government managers" that inflict such tremendous harm, pain, and suffering, especially when they show no compassion and they are completely ambivalent and completely uncaring for the harm that they cause most in the community, are absolutely proving their very evil intent, but not because of their admission but by their very attitudes~! Sociopaths abound in government and I am not kidding about locking them up because they are menaces to our community and the entire world... Most sane people understand that when someone that they know does not care if they are causing then to be unhappy, especially if that Individual somehow enjoys the unhappiness that they are causing others, that they in fact intend to make them unhappy. About six years ago at Carrie Blake Park somebody called 911 because a man was threatening to kill several females. Sequim PD arrived and the man began shouting at both officers. They scurried back to their car and left. Later I learned that the man had been in prison earlier because he shot a person in Seattle.
Steve O. I always have respect for the local police. Can you imagine spending the time, danger and PAPERWORK involved in an arrest only to have them on the street again BEFORE you've finished the paperwork? It can't be a very satisfying job. You made me remember when I was working in the Hollywood entertainment Industry in the late 80's as a special courier delivering scripts and stuff, when I completed my run and I called my Identification number & location into the dispatcher for further instructions = "77 Sunset Strip"~! Ha Ha Ha Ha~! The dispatcher had no sense of humor, but Polly Shore was not far away, and I think he got a laugh out of it~! As special couriers in the Hollywood Industry "we" were ALWAYS "under cover" (in plain sight where the average folks don't see anything going on right in their faces), dressed in street clothes and driving unmarked vehicles so no one would have a clue that we were often times carrying many millions of dollars' worth of packages, but the folks who were actually in the industry, especially the actors, would definitely know and understand that joke... Neither of us is old enough to remember those two TV shows when they first came out, but it is pretty amusing that the younger generations have absolutely no clue what we are talking about ;-)) Better yet, these younger generations can't read or write cursive writing, so we can always communicate in a "code" that they will NEVER be able to understand~! So, we have that going for us ;-))

And this is what harm reduction is doing.
People take the path of least resistance in so many things in life including drug use. I wonder if Berry has spoken with parents of those addicted who have had to literally kick their kids out of the house , or get a protective order, or call the police when they become violent in the house or find all the drug items, (pipes, foil, needles) in their house, or have found money and property stolen. Has Berry ever spoken to the parents of drug users living on the streets and the grief they go through everyday? These parents that have tried to get their kids (adult kids too) off the drugs many times, but when these items are so easy and drugs so prevalent, many just throw up their hands and give up. And how frustrating for the first reponders both police and EMT/Fire, who repeatedly treat the same person over and over until the treatment doesn't work any longer. And then that law enforcement officer has to tell the parents of the demise of their child. And believe me time after time, somethings you cannot unsee and you live with for the rest of your life.
Then there is the element of the law and the judicial system, which is another discussion.
Those that are not in agreement with harm reduction are not , uncompassionate. We would like to see these people off drugs and restore our community to a safer place. But the likes of Berry and folks believe the stigma attached with drug users is more important than actually getting people off the drugs. We are going down a spiral that will NOT get better for this county.
Absolutely! If your statistics only rely on overdose death, emergency room visits and narrative from active drug users, then your research is missing large portions of context. And the community is suffering because of it.

Thanks…. and she really is. Jeez… coming in to the big city from the West End is at least a monthly thing as the prices out here are like buying a doughnut on a ferry boat. We were shopping for us as well as my daughter’s family of five so we had two shopping carts (@ Wally World) to keep stuff separate. I feel like I age at least a year after every trip. But she had all the list stuff figured out and I mainly pushed a cart and people watched. (egad) Toward the end of it my cart was super heavy and I almost ran into Marilyn Manson at an intersection. Sometimes, heck always actually, I pick up on vibes in public and was pleased to have noticed a lot of upbeatness yesterday. I also give my wife, Christine, a lot of credit in the waking up department. Mostly as it pertains to science and she has increased my interest in that by osmosis or something like that. It would be perhaps an interesting topic for an article, the subject of “waking up” or being “awake”. I see that term thrown about more often these past few years and have come to the conclusion, that for the way my head packages things anyway, “Awake” can be seen as a bar chart with columns in that being different subjects to be awake about. For instance, I have a relative who all of a sudden, around Covid Era became very awake on that subject as she has two kids she wanted to protect from her husband and was facing an upcoming divorce. She dug deep on the C-19 stuff and has since moved away to the Right as the Overton Window moved leftward. But, as far as the economy, coming collapse of the economy, or “Global Economic Reset” as some may call it, she hasn’t a clue. If one needs a bogey man scary thing to motivate oneself to perhaps prep to some degree, the “GSR” has been at the top of that column in my “Awake Bar Chart” since 2010. THIS was the prime motivator for much of my tasks since then until about seven years ago when my wife clued me on the subject of “Catastrophism” and the 6,000 and 12,000 year cycles pertaining to that. And now we have war and the possibility, or great likelihood in my opinion, of Sleeper Cells made up of some of the millions of illegal invaders allowed in by Biden and his Border Czar, Harris. When a couple can balance out each other’s interests and knowledge it sure helps in the “am I really seeing all this BS?” department. I have known a lot of couples, back when I socialized more where one half of the couple was very awake and the other half was not. Treating a police scanner highlight reel like a serious dataset is a curious move for someone in your profession. The scanner already does a perfectly good job of turning routine public safety chatter into a weekly ghost story. It does not really need a policy seminar to dress it up in a blazer.
Once you start citing a handful of out of context blurbs as proof of “persistent municipal failure,” you are basically writing a governance report based on whatever you overheard behind the frozen pizzas at Safeway. A loose dog. A suspicious noise. Someone yelling about raccoons in the crawlspace. Suddenly we are diagnosing the collapse of civilization.
The issue is not bad intentions. It is the promotion. Take a pile of unserious inputs and run them through the machinery of Serious Analysis and the whole thing turns into accidental satire. Nothing gets illuminated. The only transformation is that a parlor trick picks up a graduate school vocabulary.
A police scanner roundup is basically Pinterest for the perpetually panicky. It tells you what startled somebody at two in the morning, not how a town functions. Treating it like a diagnostic instrument for systemic collapse does not reveal deep civic rot. It mostly reveals how easily a little theatrical dread can be mistaken for data once someone respectable starts nodding thoughtfully.
In the end the only thing this sort of analysis really legitimizes is the original stunt. And that is the disappointing part. Not that the scanner chatter is shallow. It is a police scanner after all. The disappointment is that someone decided it needed the intellectual equivalent of a tuxedo.

When we have millions of dollars flowing into upstream health assessments and housing plans, yet our local first responders are still acting as the default triage for chronic mental health and addiction crises night after night, the system is buckling.
Good governance doesn't panic at scanner chatter, but it doesn't dismiss it either. It takes those raw, daily realities and compares them against the county’s adopted priorities to ask: Are we actually getting the outcomes we are paying for?

For me, that is exactly why good governance matters. We may not be able to solve every broken part of the human condition, but we are still responsible for how we order public life here at home. Local government cannot redeem the world, but it can reduce avoidable suffering, restore trust, set boundaries, and create conditions where sanity, dignity, and responsibility have a better chance to take root.
I also agree that forgiveness matters — but I do not think forgiveness relieves public institutions of accountability. In my view, both are necessary: grace for human beings, and clear expectations for the systems meant to serve them.

Society delegates it's dirty laundry to law enforcement specialists and then becomes indignant when one piece is damaged. I offer Rene Good and Alex Pretty as examples. Why should responsible self sufficient American adults have their personal freedoms and health and wellness choices further restricted? Yes, I definitely do see your point, and one would/could assume that is logical, however there is a HUGE problem whenever the government declares any "prohibition" on anything, especially drugs, alcohol, sexual activity, or anything else that folks in society historically do regularly "naturally partake in". Personally, I and I believe many would totally agree, that the more serious and dangerous drugs (definitely including many dangerous pharmaceutical drugs that are currently being over prescribed) need to be better controlled and honest education efforts made about them. We here are REAL scientists however, and we have intensely professionally studied this very issue for decades. The interesting fact is that whenever the government prohibits ANYTHING, it actually naturally encourages the use of that prohibited thing by many, and worse, the prohibition IMMEDIATELY creates an entirely new "Black Market" Industry (that the criminal element within government always FULLY engages in). That is actually a VERY well documented historic fact of reality that the criminal element within the government always hides from the general public as their "dirty little secret", because there is SO much money & power in the governments abuses of the American Constitution and natural human activities. Don't be bummed by that truth my friend, because amazingly there is a FAR better solution on the horizon than allowing our government to go "full hardcore NAZI" on Americans (again). I am bummed, but I agree with almost everything you stated. Humans were given Free will by God. That is, for me a basic. One blatant lie is when these evil extremists say that cannabis is stronger now, which is pure BS because the commercial seeds have been "propagated" (controlled) to be FAR less powerful (especially in Washington State where the government has always strictly controlled the seeds for retail cannabis consumption ;-) Anyone can easily verify this fact by simply looking up the regulations for growing commercial cannabis in Washington State. This of course makes folks have to buy more cannabis to have the same effect, which results in the government making GOBZ more money in taxes~! HA~! What a shock huh? Anyway, folks who smoke retail cannabis know the truth, especially if they had been smoking it before so-called "legalization". Everyone just smoking cannabis since it was legalized or those who never smoked it, or just smoked it once or twice long ago, would obviously be absolutely clueless and therefore subject to whatever the criminals in government say = Brainwashing~! That said, the truth about cannabis "edibles" is FAR more complicated, because there are SOME edible products that are very powerful because they are highly concentrated THC, even though cannabis is NOT a "hallucinogen = with any psychedelic effect" as some love to lie about to scare folks into the fear porn hysteria matrix... Cannabis is NOT physically addictive, but it can be mentally addictive, especially for those who have a weakness of addictive behavior. Anyway, you sure can have an uncomfortable experience if you use high strength Cannabis edibles, especially if they are produced for serious medical patients, so being stupid wins stupid prizes as always... Believe it or not, it is actually the evil big drug pharmaceutical Industrial complex that has always vilified cannabis use, because MANY of their FAR more dangerous drugs would be proven to be ineffective compared to proper cannabis use by medical patients. Cannabis helps many millions of medical patients every day, so be EXTREMELY careful not to fall for the lies (because some day you may need cannabis yourself). Ha! I know that folks laugh at that, but they have not heard the many testimonies from the "just say no" fools, who sang a different tune when they needed real help for a condition that they later developed... Humnas are always hypocrites when they ignorantly assume anything and we ALL need to be on guard against that ;-)) Actually, as scientists "we" here would welcome ANY honest debate involving cannabis use in the general public, because we both actually attended THE most reputable school that educates folks on cannabis in the US about 16 years or so ago... I am a professional student, so I was the class valedictorian (because no one beats me in the educational matrix) and my wife, a college honors student, was 2nd in the class ;-) I would easily wipe the floor with anyone who was a novice on the subject, including ANYONE in the medical industry who didn't know the truth, and ESPECIALLY those who got their information from the corrupt media cabal that played such an evil role in the COVID mass murder democide~! Ha! And no. we didn't have any "samples" in school because it is a strictly an educational University... We don't smoke pot here, but we by oath must always defend Americans who need defending... Our instructor in that University is the same individual who has appeared on numerous TV channels over the years to dispel the lies and to honestly inform the general public BTW ;-) So, cannabis is one of the many natural remedies that God has gifted folks, but as always Individual Constitutional freedom and rights comes with a corresponding personal responsibility, which is one of the most important lessons of these difficult times for every American to learn and to live by... Oh yes, I can "spill the beans" to some degree on the soon-to-be-revealed previously hidden patents that are scheduled to be released. I am unaware of any of these reveals pertaining to any "drugs" per se, but I/we don't know all of the 6,000+ truths that will be revealed. Because we are accomplished scientists we have already personally "re-discovered" a couple of these things that will be revealed in due time. Small things like at least one cure for the common cold. That is actually an easy and cheap one... We have not had a common cold for decades, but apparently no one really cares about that. You may want to research "chlorine dioxide" and a wonderful hero named "Jim Humble" who has a very interesting book on "MMS"! That is what President Trump was accused of revealing by the criminals of humanity, when they lied and said that he was suggesting that folks drink "pool chlorine" as a remedy for so-called "COVID"! HA! That is one HUGE rabbit hole of lies and deceptions, but President Trump tried to wake folks up and he was crucified for it as always... Now everyone should be well aware that Ivermectin and the other cheap and easy nontoxic remedies for colds and the flu were deliberately attacked by the criminals so that the sheep would take the dangerous and deadly COVID vaccines... So, as I said, quite a few of these reveals are already in the general public for folks who want to research them. One of the absolutely greatest medical advances that is NOT yet available to the general public because it is under the strictest control by the US Military, is now being called "Med Bed" technology and THAT is going to absolutely destroy the criminally corrupt medical Industrial complex~! In fact, that is why the old corrupt medical Industrial complex has been allowed to destroy itself over the past several years, but the criminals of humanity have also threatened to mass murder a HUGE number of folks by poisoning their other products IF the Med Bed technology is rolled out. Part of the problem is biological. Mammals respond favorably to endorphins and dopamine. I never understood the concept of stoicism and accepting pain. Perhaps if one consumes the perfect diet and avoids alcohol he/she will live longer but if no pleasure exists why would anyone wish to live longer?

In writing today, I was just again thinking about the "endorphin effect" myself and how the "endorphin junkies" constantly crave it~! HA! I have had a very good and blessed life, all things considered, but "pain management" is something that all of us have to work on, especially in this world that has been dominated by evil criminals of humanity for thousands of years. I am actually amazed by how many Americans have been able to enjoy a reasonable degree of happiness & healthy pleasure, in spite of the insanity and constant torture of the criminals that we have had to deal with. These days of what is clearly a "mass awakening", as slow as it has been, I often find myself wondering exactly what the response will be when enough folks finally realize just how many of these evil criminals have been deceiving and harming folks intentionally~? When "they wouldn't do that" suddenly turns into "They meant to do that"~! and "BOOM"! Ignition point~! I am 100% sure that President Trump and the white hats are well aware of that eventuality, so my guess is that they have plans to head off any vigilante justice where average Americans engage in an enormous very real "witch hunt"~! This is an amazing military operation to have been watching for years now, so I guess that we shall just have to see how everything unfolds and hope that folks can restrain themselves from becoming highly emotional when they FINALLY figure things out. Ha! Yes, Individual happiness & pleasure is a MAJOR reason for our existence and the true essence of our lives. I am 100% sure that God, The Creator, wants us to be happy, as a most important part of our lives, along with us behaving well and avoiding doing harm as much as possible. So personal pleasure is critical, as long as it is not at the expense of others personal pleasure. That sure is all easier said, than done, but that is why "we" are all in this learning experience. The Great Test ;-) I am afraid that those who lead selfish lives are not going to pass this test, but folks who really do care about others and this amazing world that we have been gifted are bound to pass this oldest of tests. Why else would "we" be here, if it was not to learn, improve ourselves, and work to leave this world better off than we found it~? Besides, one of the best ways to learn the truth about our world that is difficult to see, is to look carefully for the "tells". The "reflection" of the truth. The ripples in the still pond that were caused by something cast in it that we could not see... The criminals of humanity, especially MOST politicians, and these dirty evil "government managers" that inflict such tremendous harm, pain, and suffering, especially when they show no compassion and they are completely ambivalent and completely uncaring for the harm that they cause most in the community, are absolutely proving their very evil intent, but not because of their admission but by their very attitudes~! Sociopaths abound in government and I am not kidding about locking them up because they are menaces to our community and the entire world... Most sane people understand that when someone that they know does not care if they are causing then to be unhappy, especially if that Individual somehow enjoys the unhappiness that they are causing others, that they in fact intend to make them unhappy. Obviously, the local clown show here in the Clallam County governments "get off" on causing the good folks here pain, suffering, and making most folks unhappy, which can be seen in their very actions, inactions, and responses to our valid concerns. That my friend, is exactly what concerns me because sooner or later that kind of "torture" is going to blow up in the criminals faces, especially these days when SO many are starting to realize what is being done to them very Intentionally~! The criminals are assuming that the past abuses that previous criminals in government got away with, will result in the same "get out of jail free" card for them as well, but they are ABSOLUTELY dead wrong because they have absolutely no clue about the historic "powder keg" of pressure that they are sitting on~! Car 54 Where Are You?
I am not knocking the police. I believe they do the best they can given the parameters and handcuffs put on them by our Commissioners. The injustice starts in the county courthouse and the catch and release system. Nobody fears a system that does not uphold the laws!
About six years ago at Carrie Blake Park somebody called 911 because a man was threatening to kill several females. Sequim PD arrived and the man began shouting at both officers. They scurried back to their car and left. Later I learned that the man had been in prison earlier because he shot a person in Seattle.
Steve O. I always have respect for the local police. Can you imagine spending the time, danger and PAPERWORK involved in an arrest only to have them on the street again BEFORE you've finished the paperwork? It can't be a very satisfying job. They get blamed for what our local leaders implement. Honestly, it's a job without reward. They do place their lives on the line with the "crazies". I would like to see them honored, not the drug addicts that are pushed down our throats who we have to give compassion to.

You made me remember when I was working in the Hollywood entertainment Industry in the late 80's as a special courier delivering scripts and stuff, when I completed my run and I called my Identification number & location into the dispatcher for further instructions = "77 Sunset Strip"~! Ha Ha Ha Ha~! The dispatcher had no sense of humor, but Polly Shore was not far away, and I think he got a laugh out of it~! As special couriers in the Hollywood Industry "we" were ALWAYS "under cover" (in plain sight where the average folks don't see anything going on right in their faces), dressed in street clothes and driving unmarked vehicles so no one would have a clue that we were often times carrying many millions of dollars' worth of packages, but the folks who were actually in the industry, especially the actors, would definitely know and understand that joke... Neither of us is old enough to remember those two TV shows when they first came out, but it is pretty amusing that the younger generations have absolutely no clue what we are talking about ;-)) Better yet, these younger generations can't read or write cursive writing, so we can always communicate in a "code" that they will NEVER be able to understand~! So, we have that going for us ;-))

People rarely stop when everything around them makes it easier to continue.
And this is what harm reduction is doing.
People take the path of least resistance in so many things in life including drug use. I wonder if Berry has spoken with parents of those addicted who have had to literally kick their kids out of the house , or get a protective order, or call the police when they become violent in the house or find all the drug items, (pipes, foil, needles) in their house, or have found money and property stolen. Has Berry ever spoken to the parents of drug users living on the streets and the grief they go through everyday? These parents that have tried to get their kids (adult kids too) off the drugs many times, but when these items are so easy and drugs so prevalent, many just throw up their hands and give up. And how frustrating for the first reponders both police and EMT/Fire, who repeatedly treat the same person over and over until the treatment doesn't work any longer. And then that law enforcement officer has to tell the parents of the demise of their child. And believe me time after time, somethings you cannot unsee and you live with for the rest of your life.
Then there is the element of the law and the judicial system, which is another discussion.
Those that are not in agreement with harm reduction are not , uncompassionate. We would like to see these people off drugs and restore our community to a safer place. But the likes of Berry and folks believe the stigma attached with drug users is more important than actually getting people off the drugs. We are going down a spiral that will NOT get better for this county.
Absolutely! If your statistics only rely on overdose death, emergency room visits and narrative from active drug users, then your research is missing large portions of context. And the community is suffering because of it.

I wonder how many folks on the county homeless, health and housing boards have to live in these same 2 square miles? I just love it when retirees living out in the county make these decisions that cluster the burden on PA working families and low income seniors. Another fun fact most of the time those out of county warrants running around PA don't get booked because the jail won't hold. Really fun to hear those on the scanner over and over and not see them on the jail roster. The repeat offender punk who likes to beat up on his girlfriends and got tasered on my lawn after a chase last year is back in jail again though, so at least he is off the local streets for a few days.This is life in my neighborhood, and when I read this article I just hear a dark, heavy metal version of Mr Rogers singing "who are the people..."
