There was a battle several years back against The BOY Scouts of America. DEI champions men in women's sports. The very (outdated) name, League of WOMEN Voters, is exclusionary. And when you watch The League of Women Voters in action, as with The National Organization of Women, you find the whispered part is "only those who think like us". In practice, what they are is an arm of the Democrat machine. Shame!
For any interested, Trail Life USA has emerged as the best scouting program which fulfills the original mandate of the BSA, which is that it's Christ focused, and only for boys and men. Additionally, TLUSA rigorously vets registered adults, and provies mandatory training as well as implements policies that remove any possibility of one on one situations to avoid any opportunity for problems to occur. If you're going to the Logging Show this weekend, they'll be there help direct the parking of cars. Please show your support by offering any small donation to one of the supporting adults that you are able to provide.
Good morning and thanks for the reply. Pls excuse me but I am a bit late to all this stuff - but have found Jeff's posts and information thought provking and many issues important..
I would value working with others - just sharing opinions ...I have seen what can be done when others combine efforts even when the issues seem impossible. Even if nothing is done it gives me a since of trying....that is sometimes all we can do but it is a positive step - for me anyway.
I look forward to our future discussions - may be a bit delayed on my end as my husband an I are are just staring to downsize and move as I take time to recoup after an annoying health issue
Also as a matter of introduction, as a Clallam county resident dependent on a private water system taken hostage by a for profit corporation, 4 years ago myself and a few other residents fought against 100% rate increases and a few other wrong policy issues...long battle but we won a hard battle with the UTC... I have a few final tasks to finish before I will feel that my job is done...
Enjoy the day and I will learn DM'ing....I am a late to all this tech stuff...
I have a word of warning to anyone corresponding with Vicki: she is a firecracker.
She fought Cascadia Water's rate hike, met with state leaders in Olympia, and organized far-flung water districts to coordinate a successful voice of opposition to the State's Utilities and Trades Commission, never complaining about the David vs. Goliath scenario she faced. Long story short: she's a fighter and a winner, and if you enlist her to look at community problems, you'll be panting to keep up with her as she plays the long game.
Anyone working with Vicki should be ready for a marathon run at a sprinter's pace. We are so fortunate to have her in our community.
HUM, WA State sponsored event, with a rather high "entrance fee' after NEEDING TO PASS TO A TEST AND BE SELECTED FOR INCLUSION.... Hard for me, an older somewhat intelligent and sometimes engaged concerned FEMALE voter to not feel displaced, discriminated against and totally excluded...IT HURTS!
But more importantly it is a message to all ( I enjoy male opinions in fact I enjoy all opinions even those that I may not understand or agree with) that IS THE COUNTRY I WILL SUPPORT.
We should not be surprised by this - those of us older folks simply have opinions that others want to exclude - we do not fit in their pre -planned goals...we are a bit less controllable and not as influenced by only things they propose to tell us are factd. Many of us grew up being able to make our own opinions, our friends could agree or not but respect for each other and continued friendshjp was still possible.
Sorry but I do not understand how a governmental agency such as the Sec of State can be involved with such a event - guess I need to do a bit of studying on state government and the ethics by which they are to abide. Participants should not be required to pay to be included just a simple statement of fact and a personal opinion.
I'm old, stubborn, raised to be fair and kind to others regardless of who they are or their lifestyle, and THIS IS THE COUNTRY I WILL WORK TO HOLD ON TO....I HOPE THERE ARE OTHERS WHO JOIN WITH ME....I HAVE TO BELIEVE THERE ARE BECAUSE I PLAN TO CONTINUE TO VOICE MY OPINION, - take it or leave it - I'm fine with that. - SEARCH FOR ANSWERS SO WE ALL HAVE BASIC ENJOYMENT OF LIFE.
My question this morning is who else cares , were does this start and what can be done ?
Perhaps we could suggest that this event to redesigned or maybe seen for what it is and pptential
attendees "invest" the entrance fee in a more deserving activity....homeless, needy vets, cancer support groups, kids summer programs .....
Looking forward to others comments - agree or not .
My question now is how long will it be before this organization or something like it decides to try to take away my rights to participate / vote because I no longer fit their Gen Z/Millennial approved and supported
It’s so nice to hear a voice of reason. I agree Vicki how we can openly communicate with other people who don’t always agree with us, but I think that’s how we were raised also. I’m an older adult also and can’t believe how things have changed so much. I have brothers who have different views but we don’t push our views on each other we have opening my conversations. I’m with you in whatever comes forward from this group and Jeff. Thank you for joining
Is it me, or does it feel like for every DEI measure they try to promote it inevitably excludes another group? Let's face it, biases exist, as do stereotypes and assumptions. 9 times out of 10 it's based on past experiences or tales from the past from others. I'd prefer we just go back to helping people who need help, hiring people who have the qualifications for the job, and skipping the whole "I deserve this because you birthed me" nonsense. We all have the right to the pursuit of our own happiness...that requires putting in the effort...not making the demand.
It's all a smokescreen. CC young citizens are headed for two choices: Get out of town or accept a lifetime of minimum wages from the actions of our Kommissars and NGOs that 'claim' to have their interests at heart.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this is about Rank Choice Voting. Voting affects every citizen, so why not included every citizen? Be wary of the LWV. Their signs during the April 4th protest were prominent and proudly displayed their organization name. They are not an inclusive organization anymore. Too bad.
Ranked choice voting was tried and repealed in Pierce County in the early 2000's. Its confusing. To me it seems to reward mediocrity. About 70% of the electorate is Partisan. So in my case I'd tend to rank my favorite candidate as first. The Opposition candidate as last and my 2nd choice would be for the outlier candidate. I certainly wouldn't want to help the opposition. In Pierce County an Outlier candidate with a huge number of second choice votes became Assessor Treasure. The man wasn't qualified to be dog catcher. He plunged the Assessors Department into chaos through incompetence and rewarded a half dozen employees with large settlements as he violated their rights in the workplace. Straight up voting in Primaries and General elections give clear results. Ranked choice to me is tantamount to shaving points in basketball or placing a legitimate sports bet trying to figure the Vegas points spread. It takes mediocre candidates and rewards them for being the least offensive to one side or the other. My 2 cents having been witness of that Pierce County Fiasco.
Just Google "Dale Washam Pierce County" or follow the link. It is a lengthy in depth article. Towards the end it explains how this turkey of a candidate rose to win an election by a combination of 2nd and 3rd choice votes out ranking first place votes. Truly a disaster.
And this is being pushed by the same people in the Charter Review who believe that a questionnaire covering more than seven issues leads to voter fatigue and that people will not know how to rank their priorities for county government.
Convoluted and confusing, are the order of the day. Minds that conjure these variations on a theme, such as Rank Choice, cannot accept simplicity for the value it presents and how effective it can be. In reality, they are social engineers who unlevel the playing field with unsolicited speed bumps; creating problems where none previously existed, to accommodate an agenda. The "League" has obviously been infiltrated, derailed from their original mission; in similar fashion to the Clallam Conservation District and their "partners."
LWV is the same as PDN, democrat, bias, controlling, disguised but all arms of the party. Are there Republican groups that masquerade like this available?
LWV are front and center at the Indivisible rallies. (Indivisible is heavily funded by billionaire communist George Soros.) LWV are as left as they get. You must declare you support abortions on the application to join their non profit. That certainly keeps the conservatives out of their ranks.
We know, that whatever they are doing has a hidden agenda to cheat the system and make the system more cheatable. Paper ballots and voter IDs is the only answer. But I guess thats off topic.
I hope that someday most Americans will mature enough to be able to see that these criminally corrupt "groups" and sick agenda driven organizations always target very specific groups/demographics with their underhanded intentions to control and manipulate our otherwise decent community & society against common sense and our best interests~! I have been well aware of these divisive underhanded efforts for many decades, so these days all I need to hear is that the "groups" who are conducting these pinpoint strikes on unsuspecting folks are self-identifying as a specific cause, obviously hiding behind a hidden agenda that they go out of their way to conceal. The League of Women voters is the "disclosure" of a hidden agenda all by itself for those of us who are aware of the evil tactics of the underhanded ones. ALL Americans, regardless of their race, religion, or gender, have the right to vote as long as they lawfully & legally qualify, so it is Constitutionally offensive for any one specific gender, race, or religious group to get involved in politics that target another specific demographic group. This old evil process is more often than not, intended to collect voters to vote in line with the organization that makes such an effort, even though these groups will scream that is not the case because they know that their true intentions are being discovered & exposed~! Obviously, The League of Women Voters is not concerned with The American Constitution, but more concerned with "gathering" any votes that they can to forward their own hidden agendas that are of course highly biased and divisive~! the truth is always there for those who have the sight to see it~! Sincerely, Mike
There was a change in our voting envelopes a few years back with our signatures. We used to have to print and sign envelopes but wa state started printing our names so we just had to sign why?Looks like this would make it easier for cheating because counting machines-counties now would only have one signature to verify.

They lost the pretense of being non-partisan years ago.

Christian, 💪
Democrats claim all these things yet they do the exact opposite. Inclusion is what they want only if you fall in line with their views.
Exactly

Sorry, April 5th protest.
Denise, Oh Gad, the Rank Choice Voting! I looked it up, it is wayyy too confusing!

Yes, it is! It seems RCV could eliminate primaries. Is that the end goal?

The League of Women Voters (LWV) stated values: A LEAGUE FOR ALL

Public Records request would be appropriate with the Secretary of State.
