I would like to mention how proud I am of my Husband speaking up during the Forks Clallam County Budget Town Hall meeting and now I can say he is cc watchdog famous!
I do have a formal complaint that the highlight of the meeting wasn’t mentioned and it starts with “homemade….”
More hypocrisy by county officials, county wants to set and enforce rules for home owners but not homeless doing more of the same code violations.Living in motorhomes scattered all over county, creating encampment garbage dumps all over county.County just wants to target home owners that pays their salaries.Things will not get better in clallam co until there is major change in elected positions starting with board commissioners.
I'm all for property rights and I'm all for a clean backyard. However when using code enforcement to pressure citizens to clean up there property, one should look at the disposal fees forced on everyone. This fee is the highest in the state. Dig deep into where that money is going. And why is it the highest?
We only have garbage transfer stations here, no dump(s). The dump is in Eastern Washington. It’s been some time since I researched it, but I believe it’s around an 8 hour trip one way. Think just how much diesel is burned. Can the driver return in one day without being illegal? How much does the truck owner receive per round trip?
It gets trucked in those big grey containers usually to Tacoma or Centralia and loaded two-high on rail cars. The Union Pacific takes it to a giant pit near Arlington, OR, on the Columbia River. BNSF takes it to a giant pit across the river in Roosevelt, WA.
Garbage jobs are good payers. We aren't just exporting our garbage; we are exporting good jobs.
Thanks, Jeff, for this additional information. I was just thinking of the cost, but you are right again. We are exporting jobs and opportunities in addition to dollars. NIMBY! The environmentalist (death cultists) have unmanned (non-generic specific) too many Americans. They are afraid of their own shadows and can be spooked 24/7 365 or 366 days per year. Even when it’s not Halloween. And we have too many ready to play on the fears.
Again you have demonstrated why you are The Watchdog, Jeff. Thank you.
More hypocrisy, err rubbish. Garbage has to go somewhere, but we don't have the stones to place a landfill in our own backyard. We'll foist it on other communities.
The reservoir is an interesting conundrum. As I understand it another Washington State government requirement foisted on certain areas, well, because of the water.
It's no wonder why so many pieces of furniture are dumped on the side roads. Even junk from a tear-down is often dumped roadside. There needs to be a quarterly pickup of large items for those on trash pickup routes and specific locations for item drop off for those who do not live in weekly trash service areas. This alone will help our county to reduce the trashy look and increase values.
In Memphis, TN there is a free (tax payer paid) service that literally goes around and picks up curbed trash, including appliances, beds, couch. Call 311 and its gone.
Free tax payer funded is an oxymoron. Twice a week in some cities where the streets are not lined with rat traps. Its an awfully good idea for Seattle, though bittersweet.
Imagine how organizations like 4PA could use what's still usable for their tiny homes, or say the PBH Taj Mahal could save taxpayer money for what will eventually be destroyed.
You are correct! However, I suspect donations of used items is verboten. After all, who wants someone's cast-off couch when they have a shiney new dishwasher and a view?!
You know, I think back to when I was a young adult, struggling. I was happy to accept an unfurnished, uninsulated basement space for a place to live. A used cheap mattress, cardboard box for a sidestand. Our standards are too high for the lifestyle of others who are less fortunate to calm the emotions placed in our heads by the activists for daring to have more than someone else.
This community is rich with cast offs actually. There's a natural life cycle that's on full display in a retirement town where the eventual downsizing is someone else's gain.
The City of P.A. took over the contract because the 'MOB' was too greedy...now the City IS THE MOB!
Totally agree...with our abundant hydro-power there is NO reason to be shipping the bulk of our trash off the peninsula and into someone else's back-40.
Most of our garbage could and should be reprocessed here, with appropriate environmental controls.
They built an incinerator plant in Spokane, on the bluff above the city, so all those toxic fumes ended up down in the valley, causing a major uptick in respiratory disease. After the people had voted it down twice...Come to find out, Boeing had a plane-interior plant next door and needed a way to dispose of all the toxic waste they produced.
The log yard in P.A. was built just upwind of the marina, so all that toxic bark dust and diesel fumes ended up in the marina and into the downtown...I ended up with bronchitis from it while working on my boat in the harbor.
So, good ideas are needed but we need to make sure they ARE good ideas.
Time to take back governance...or roll over and take the shaft!🥸
CO2 is 50% heavier than air, tends to go down near the ground, and does not readily disperse. It’s a great fire extinguisher. It pushes the oxygen away. Carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and gets away from us more quickly. It has never hurt anyone outdoors. CO2 has and causes some to hurt others “Road rage.”
People turned against Rainier’s mill after emissions change was forced on it. Monoxide had to be burned into dioxide.
Think of babies and toddlers on the floor of tighter homes with poor ventilation mandated in order to save the planet. Only a death cult could want this.
What code enforcement. Take a look behind the old JC penny in Sequim right now. That is public right of way. Sequim is lying when they say it is not. That guy gets to violate every ordinance on the books. I can't wait for them to pull me over for something...Give me a ticket to pay some fine these guys gloat about not having to ever pay.
The EV charger is the buttercream frosting on the boondoggle cake. Will there be a cost overrun for overlooked suicide barriers on the rooftop patio? What surprises lurk?
Rita, I agree, there will be many surprises, particularly in random damages (I think the EV charger will be the first to go) Repeated repairs, animal damages (one puppy can destroy the home in no time) police calls, fire damage and things we haven't even thought of (graffiti damage). They have created a perfect money pit and it's not even done with how much it will cost to complete the damn thing!
ok, now that's a little personal.🤣 But my hoarding is for good causes...I actually Use materials out of my hoard of boards and slews of screws and slings of things! At least that's my excuse...and I keep a lot of stuff out of the landfill...at least until I die and then somebody else can put it in a landfill! But it doesn't spill out onto the street and into the neighbors yard, so that's nice!😊 I'm running out of steam and time to 'do it all', though, so I hope 'Around Again' doesn't have to close their doors because I have to cut back!😆 My mom is a full-on hoarder with pathways through the stuff...we got rid of two HUGE bins of stuff last year and there will be a couple more to deal with if she doesn't outlast me (at 90+, she isn't able to continue to add to it, thank God).
The number of 'storage' units in the county is unbelievable and unbelievably expensive...(thanks political migrants who are helping destroy our region.)
Hoarding is a human problem, but animals hoard too...food at least, when they can. This world seems to be a place of 'not enough' and that is true because those of us who have 'too much' still want more...always more...especially when you have so little...it's a spiritual/psychological thing and physical stuff can't fix it! Live and learn...or live and don't learn...those are the options!😎
Speaking of wire theft, someone should make records requests of PA, county, and PUD to find the total costs to replace/repair damage from wire theft. There was a major incident of this along the waterfront trail in PA in the last year and the costs were swept under the rug quickly. All the lamps along the zig zag amp were damaged by vandalism and "replaced' with ugly street lights. I see damage to electrical boxes and street lamps around downtown regularly
Susie, it's so obvious and predictable. The expensive FREE housing should have rules (no drugs or alcohol) and regular inspections in place! They are tenants, not owners and should abide by owners (us) rules. Oh, I forgot, we just pay for with no say so.
Jake, you’ve tackled a tough one. It’s all about safe affordable housing. What a dilema!
As housing costs rise beyond what many families can afford, more people are looking for shelter outside the traditional housing market. So, the county is giving a mixed message, either follow the rules if you own the land, or don’t follow the rules if you don’t own the land.
“This job is about being persuasive… to really impress upon people that it’s better to comply… We will be doing as much as we can to be aggressive in going after real-time violation.”
Her tools of persuasion include fines, liens, collections, and the threat of foreclosure.
The outcome will create a new class of “forced homelessness” in Clallam County. Productive use of land? Who decides? Could the county help the ones who are hanging on with assistance in making the structures be within compliance rather than forced sales? The extremely bad budgeting, created by the CC, needs to be in compliance with the needs of the citizens:
The expression cart before the horse is an idiom or proverb used to suggest something is done contrary to the natural or normally effective sequence of events. A cart is a vehicle that is ordinarily pulled by a horse, so to put the cart before the horse is an analogy for doing things in the wrong order. The figure of speech means doing things the wrong way round or with the wrong emphasis or confusing cause and effect.
Excellent insight. Jennifer. Hopefully our commissioners will listen: their policies "will create a new class of forced homelessness in Clallam County."
They can't regain what they never had...they are trained and conditioned to be and do as they are and do! Robots, puppets, whatever...they are not there FOR THE PEOPLE!😎
Jake, I love that you wrote “ hopefully our commissioners will listen”! They haven’t listened yet. Why would they start? They have learned and mastered the fine art of being paid but never accountable for the job.
Sure send info to Diane Harvey and Email the commissioners.through Loni. There is zero sense of urgency even at election time when they should be sucking up and looking essential to county function. But No, you would have to care or act like you care. We don’t even get hypocrisy. Jake stay as nice as you are. I’m bitter and annoyed, our tax dollars go to ridiculous things and we don’t have a code enforcement dept.
Any real projects are grants or federal money mandates. Sequim isn’t safe. I once worried about bears or a reported cougar. The real predators are BOCCC!
Thanks Jeff, usually I just want to get to the problem solving phase. But with the burden of the commissioners, who really do stand in the way of progress, it feels like never never land. Plus they act like the good, involved and aware citizens are misinformed and picking on them. Then there are the chosen few who are self elevated because they have a handle on what we need. Susan F, Jim (the cry baby) I just want to yell “check your pettiness at the door, and get down to the tasks at hand”.
You know, like people do at real jobs . Or maybe they don’t know. I still stand by 15 CRC members is too many!
Some mindsets just want their idea to “win”, it’s an ego thing, right or wrong. And I have summed up why groups hate me and why it doesn’t matter.
Do ya all recall the failing septic systems BOCC meeting? Approx. 900 properties were identified as needing systems that have been estimated are failed. Johnson commented his concern that most could not afford $25-$30K systems and therefore the County would be creating possible homelessness for 900 homeowners. Never to be brought up again. So yes Jennifer creating worse problems while fixing other problems is a reality & it’s just another example just different subject with no real solutions. Let me get my list, it’s here somewhere in this mess!
Yeah, if you can't afford the rent and the taxes, you sure as hell can't afford the garbage fees! I look for reusable 'roadside' items and have noticed a big increase in non-reusable stuff being dumped all over the county! Sad times.😎
Thank you @Jake Seegers for an excellent article and some ideas to respond. We are at a self imposed tipping point. These issues can all be solved by the County Commissioners getting some backbone and taking charge for the betterment of the citizens! These Commissioners are exerting more and more control over our lives, mostly through financial oppression.
Sometimes I wish we were living in the 1500s where bad politicians would be dragged through the streets by the suppressed public.
I'd say "Code Enforcement Officers, you're fired for non compliance" Simply. You did not pass your probation. Job cuts are inevitable and you are a strain on the County's budget. Captain Compliance your job starts outside of your cushy office. Hit the streets where the action is. Junked cars, RVs, non compliant ADUs (tool sheds), junk piles, flop houses, multiple trailers on residential lots, public sidewalks blocked, tree hugger residents, etc. Your job to cite violators couldn't be more clearer, Your work has been cut out for you.
Ken, do you know something others don’t? Because I was told there is NO code enforcement dept and there has never been one. I would love to have someone fired. 8 months ago I was told the dump lot at Diamond Point Road and Gardiner Beach would be cleaned in November(this year)
bc the tribe bought the property. I wrote to Ron Allen and begged him to be a good neighbor and clean it up “early”.
The previous owner was fined but we are such a great county we put a lid on the fines @ $14,000 no matter if it’s months or years. No that fine $ does not go to mitigate dump sites. It goes to pay for all the important county work. Poets and Pizza! There isn’t a county out there that can beat us when such critical thinking is available! Our cup runneth over with three little wise men.
Ken that certainly is an all inclusive outline of a code enforcement department.
Even including all the things they do not get involved with.
The list of the many agencies they partner with is interesting, from health dept to EPA, fish and wildlife etc.
From reading that lengthy description of Code Enforcement, one would guess it would require 5+ full time staff members.
So I’m confused, Diane Harvey told me 7 months ago no such dept existed and the burden was on the Sheriff. I also spoke with “Amy” who confirmed the above.
So which is it?
No Code Enforcement
Other agencies are required to fill the void .
Or we have a fully staffed Code Enforcement dept with FT employees.
I appreciate the info off the CC web site, but it did not answer any questions. In a perfect world it would look like that (?)
Thank you for your input, hope someone can provide the actual correct scenario. Being transparent and all.
The Sheriff holds the position of code enforcement. So if we are lean on LE we are out of luck with code enforcement. It makes me laugh that people actually think their property will be under surveillance. Only if it’s all AI.
A private roofing company is advertising they can quote you a roof without coming to your house...Commercial Grade Google Earth and AI can see and measure accurately enough to figure out square footage even on complicated roof structures, from space...so we are under surveillance already, not 24-7 yet but they can pick up changes pretty easily, especially when they get the premium version of it all.😎
Thank you @Jake Seegers and @CCWD for the information. Everyone needs to inundate these clowns with emails and complaints of incompetence and hypocrisy. THEY ALL NEED TO BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE!!
Our nearly 5-acre property here in Clallam County needed a LOT of work cleaning it up to reduce the fire risk when we bought it about 10 years ago. From time to time one of our neighbors, who have been watching our ongoing progress, will take the time to stop by to compliment and thank us for improving our property and by extension the neighborhood. We take our property value seriously and work very hard to maintain our land in good condition, because we strive to do our part to make our community safe and pleasant looking. We COMPLETELY reject anyone in government who believes that they can or should subjectively "judge" our property and how we choose to use it. As an old real estate analyst I can and do well appreciate the negative impact on property values that occur when a private property owner chooses to use their property in a less than attractive way, however we must all accommodate each other's Constitutional rights even though that sometimes comes at the expense of our own personal wishes. The Clallam County government recently committed all sorts of HIGHLY questionable acts when they changed, altered, and circumvented numerous Federal, State, and County "restrictions" (including long established environmental laws and regulations) to shove an EXTREMELY unwanted manufactured home development project down the good folks' throats here in the Atterberry Road & Hooker Road area. Now ALL of the property owners in our local real estate market have suffered and will continue to suffer a loss on their property values as a direct result of this new manufactured home community project, which I believe will be a "leased lot" managed project where the tenants don't even have an ownership Interest status but rather pay a monthly rent for the small space that is allotted to them. This is not a small project and the negative impact to the traffic flow will be significant and create a real problem for several hundred Individuals who rightfully never anticipated that the county would "insert" such a high density manufactured home park community in this specific location/neighborhood. My point it that the people in the Clallam County government can and do often violate a great many existing laws, regulations, codes, restrictions, and established environmental standards when it accommodates their agenda, so this utter bullshit about "anarchy" is a clear and blatant "fear porn" lie to scare folks away from demanding a common-sense government that serves the good people of Clallam County~! I resent the county leadership that has relied upon the state funding, to the point where "we" are now being manipulated and extorted into following the states draconian Medieval oppressive laws and directives that go against the will and best interests of the good folks of Clallam County~! Obviously, considering that the entire governmental structure of Washington State regularly picks and chooses what laws and regulations that it will and will not abide by, as an American Constitutionalist I also reserve MY lawful right to refuse to comply with unconstitutional government actions! ALL Americans should know that IF the government creates any laws or directives that conflict with the ORIGINAL American Constitution, regardless of reason, that such laws and directives are INSTANTLY "null and void" upon their creation and need NOT be followed~!!! In fact, it is ALL Americans' sworn duty to absolutely reject ALL unconstitutional laws and directives, AND to "cast off" ALL government that violates The American Constitution~!!! Thank you, Jake Seegers, for yet another well-conceived and well written article that so well discloses the ongoing hypocrisies of our local government~! Happy Sunday to all~!
I have just experienced these insults for many decades, in many different communities, and learned that they are always VERY well planned ahead of time. These criminals in government have a powerful networking system that they very carefully hide from the general public, and they actually foster the "assumption" (perception) that these criminals are stupid (when they are far from it ;-) This is an historic time of "awakening" and thanks to you, Jeff Tozzer, and many other great folks here on The Watchdog these criminals are not going to be in power forever~! In fact, they are already losing control as the good folks of our community, America, and the world are learning more every day~! These underhanded criminals lose their power and control, the more the light of truth is shown upon them...
The mobile home park has a real negative impact for you and neighbors. It’s just like the depreciation of an auto once driven off the lot. If there is no ownership on the property the mfg home sits, there will be little “pride “ to maintain . There is a park in Renton and they kept raising the per month fee. This was about 7 years ago. The monthly with water and garbage was $1400 . Electric was separate. Way above what people could pay. Then the management would offer them a really low ball amount , get them out and rent to people who were willing to pay. Talk about extortion.
You are absolutely correct about the mobile home rental park project concept~! I have been a real estate analyst for many years and one of the worst scams in real estate is the "mobile home rental park" trap. The unsuspecting people are lured into buying a mobile home that is a quickly depreciating item and then paying monthly rent that usually starts out low, but within a short period of time more often than not skyrockets to obscene levels. The poor buyer of such a scam has no title to the land and eventually finds out that they are locked into an extortion racket, where the real property owner will jack up the monthly rents and fees because they have made sure that they have every contractual right to do so. It really is a vicious scheme and one of the worst scams in real estate. The scam artists of Clallam County pulled a fast one on the good folks of the Atterberry Road neighborhood a few years ago, when they authorized a short "unnecessary" extension of the sewer and water lines just far enough up Hooker Road to "suddenly" facilitate the commercial residential development of the corner lot on Atterberry & Hooker Roads, even though it was never thought possible by the folks who bought property here for good reasons. The Clallam County government shysters actually pushed this development through by literally ignoring a protected natural stream (watershed) that they had HAMMERED other property owners for even the slightest code violations for before. They even raised the speed limit on Atterberry Road, to "accommodate" the commercial residential project which also violated their own existing code. Along the stream is clearly a "wetland area" that exists on the entire East portion of the property in question, which they are currently disturbing to hook up the sewer and water lines that they had previously installed a few years ago (for no other real reason). There was a large eagle's nest on the wetlands portion of the property and numerous other wildlife and fish were disturbed... The developer was required to preserve some of the wetland area, however with dozens of new rental homesites being created, where only a couple of homes were previously zoned/anticipated to be built, the wildlife will of course be negatively impacted. Pretty much the entire Atterberry neighborhood came together to fight this terrible blight on our part of the community, but sadly "we" lost in what was clearly a rigged court that of course caved into the county scheme. So, the developer, CA Homes (California Homes) is steaming ahead with their money scheming plans, the criminals in the county government will look good on paper because of the new homes that they can technically claim that they created (when in fact they have been making the development of new homes a COMPLETE nightmare for many years), and all of the good folks in our community will soon face a nightmarish bottleneck of traffic right at the intersection of Atteberry & Hooker Roads because we don't have any other truly viable options to get in & out of our own neighborhood. I am sure that a traffic signal will soon be necessary, where one would never have been needed before, which will constantly impede traffic, especially at times of peak travel. Emergency services are close, but they will also be impeded because of the pending bottleneck of traffic. I am not sure just how many new homesites will be created, but the last I heard was about 40. It would be reasonable to predict that means as many as 80 or more people (plus their guests) will be living in that small development project, so with all of the support traffic like utility workers and constant delivery vehicles, it is going to be a predictable traffic disaster for everyone, and I would not be a bit surprised if there are traffic injuries and some fatalities as a direct result~! Many people also use Atterberry Road as a bicycle road, so problems can be expected... Of course, you are also correct that the Atterberry Road market property values will be negatively affected because of all of this and that will seriously impact one of the best neighborhoods in the area, that has been moving towards the higher end of real estate values for years. This is especially due to the fact that many homes here have a beautiful territorial and/or water view. Do you think that the crooks in the county will be lowering our real estate taxes because of their blunder~? HA~! It is still a good neighborhood here, but just less easily accessible and soon we will have a "gauntlet" of traffic to curse the county and the greedy developer about~! I hope that you have a great new week my friend~!
I’m glad you wrote the impact developments have from first hand experience. I have been saying to anyone that would listen, if the Seabrook model gets passed on Sequim Bay, it will be a different world for residents. But the county would love to charge for all those permits. It helps balance the budget they can’t seem to stay in. By the next year real estate taxes would start being collected. Yet another “ Get Out Of Jail”! Budget, we don’t need no stinking
Well, like you, I LOVE our cherished waterways and harbors! They are irreplaceable treasures, and I have seen many harbors and marinas get destroyed by the criminals in government who over developed them over the decades. I spent some time in Dana Point in my early life, and it used to be an extraordinary place for folks to enjoy. Now, it is a vile crowded tourist trap to be avoided by all of the locals, who at one time gravitated there for a peaceful visit with the once natural environment. Now there are no fish or aquatic life that used to be abundant. It is a disgusting place, and few will ever know just how absolutely beautiful it once was. So, I know what a disgusting development like the one that has been proposed really is and that once it is built there will never be going back to the quaint enjoyable marina that it is today... These vile criminals in government can't leave a beautiful place alone or protect it from greedy scummy developers and the leeches of the communities that only see dollar signs. It is especially offensive that these clowns in our local governments have made it Hell to develop residential properties for most landowners, so they need to build these monstrosities to appear as if they give a damn. I doubt that these homes in the marina area will be owner occupied, but more likely long and especially short-term rentals which brings us all even more problems to deal with. These criminals in government could care less~! Sincerely, Mike
As a group renters never improve property values, because only the real property owners typically take the best care of their own assets~! So, you are right and we here can expect as many as 100 or so people to soon be living in this rental park who have absolutely no care of our neighborhood, especially on a long-term basis~! Sincerely, Mike
Jeff Tozzer (CCWD) & Jake Seevers You two and those of you that contribute and comment on this SUBSTACK are using a well known scripture from the Apostle John 8:32 "and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free"
I believe it is meant for this time in our lives and to spread the truth. In my opinion, there is too much corruption and hypocrisy in your little slice of the world if we are truly paying attention it can be overwhelming.
My last thought for today is a quote from William Pitt 1st Earl of Chatham "unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minbs of those who possess it"
No one here has 'unlimited' power but when they think they do it always leads to disaster! Unlimited disaster might be a thing!? Good thing we are isolated way out at the edge of The Milky Way! That's what I would have done!🤓
A little self important isn't he. They are not our rulers. They are our representatives. In a leadership role. Shall we call him king? As for his lame anarchy claim... what a joke. Do not dispute what our socialist lawmakers have decreed. For the record, when the signers signed the declaration of independence. They were committing treason to the crown. But it wasnt treason to America. You can take that how you want. But sometimes you have to rock the boat.
It's been said. In the communist playbook. Acuse them of what you are doing. No kings rallies. They literally use our tax dollars to support antifa the self proclaimed anarchist. Dei is racist by its own definition. Claiming child abuse for being against mutilating kids. The list goes on. What will it take for their sheep to see the light?
Wouldn't it be great if everyone used their property for 'productive use'.
I think meth-labs are productive!
Providing shelter for others in 'on property' RV's seems 'productive'.
I'm not saying I WANT that as a reality but these psychos are getting completely out of control.
I think we should work together as a community to help people clean up their properties but forcing it is just despotic and tyrannical.
I want to have a say on what I think is 'productive use' of the kommissars properties...I believe that some of them have enough acreage to hold several low-income 'apartments' and maybe a soup kitchen with bus-service from downtown and a 'shelter' for those who are 'in town' for MAT clinic treatments...
The arrogance of these ideological commies is disturbing and getting 'disturbinger'!😎
The proper path of non-compliance with a law is to change the law. That process includes participating in relevant meetings, non-violent demonstrations and voting for a representative that best supports the law change you desire. Regardless of any law seeming right or wrong, allowing citizens to pick and choose which laws they might comply with destroys the entire legal system.
I generally agree, Gary. But, we are at a point where lawmakers are driven by personal and donor-financed ideology that is placing citizens in a position to choose between their livelihood, compliance or leaving the state many of them grew up in. Our leaders continue to vote for policymakers who impose impossible standards, then they blame the state for the resulting mandates. WA counties are on the verge of bankruptcy and cannot comply with onerous mandates that elevate the wants of a few over the needs of the many. When government cannot meet its own regulatory standards, despite the money pot of nearly unlimited taxation, it is a clear sign that the citizens cannot either.
So messy...the French have never recovered from their revolution and now are collapsing under communism.
The problem becomes that when the 'tipping point' is reached there are still no morals and values guiding when to act and when to stop...the killing continued far beyond getting rid of 'the bad guys'...but people still managed to overpopulate the planet in spite of all the wars and pandemics/plandemics, natural catastrophes, etc...
The will for sado-masochism is the only thing that seems infinite!
Protests and demonstrations have little impact on real change...it is pleading with your rulers to treat you better, but they are not empathic, wise entities and they don't give a shit what you like or don't like...they have their orders...or as the nazis' would say: "I was just following orders!"🥸
I generally agree. However when those in charge of enforcement set a precedent of refusing to enforce said laws, then what? Camping on the spit or on the Rayonier property along the trail is illegal, yet our elected officials looked the other way. Public drug use is still mostly illegal, yet there is zero enforcement as close as the safeway across the street from our county courthouse, downtown, or any day at tree park. People build makeshift campsites on city streets out of cars (with expired registration) and tarps and law/code enforcement turn a blind eye.
This, along with the governor’s own declarations to disregard laws he doesn’t agree with have set a precedent. Laws clearly mean nothing. I support Jake’s suggestion that the commissioners engage other members in the wsacg to pursue changes/exceptions to overly restrictive energy and building codes.
My husband and I own a small business in one of the trades in Port Angeles. We experience firsthand, on a daily basis, the gravity of what these "codes" are causing to happen. "You will own nothing, and you will be happy." Port Angeles has incentivized the development of low income housing by removing permit fees and offering free plans to anyone who's willing to build low income housing within city limits. But God forbid you want to build a regular house or commercial property! They cock block this kind of development AT EVERY TURN. We are watching Agenda 2030 unfold in our own backyard in real time, friends.
It's the destruction of the middle class, ironic isn't it that the kommissars are part of the middle class...upper middle in CC...they fail to see that the machine they are building will grind them into the dirt as soon as they have fulfilled their roles.
There has to be a compensation mechanism for the tribes and the world economy. Colleen is only having coffee with the tribes and the Canadians these days..
My elderly mother lives in my house, because I don't believe in shipping our loved ones to nursing homes and paying ungodly amounts of money for them to be neglected by someone else.
My adult daughter ( who graduated high school at the top of her class and also works) cannot afford to live on her own in this county. Even just renting a room is 1000$ a month.
My adult stepson lived in an rv on my front lawn for a few years. He would use the amenities inside the house and basically just sleep out there. He couldn't afford housing either.
So they would rather have me boot my children out into the streets than let them stay on my property?
I will definitely be writing my commissioners on this one.
You cannot keep forcing young families like mine into being absolutely subservient to government assistance in order to live here. Otherwise you will not have the young people to build your houses, work as laborers on your roads, caregive for your elderly or any other amount of the carreers here that are carried through with young backs.
I'm absolutely horrified at what my hometown is now.
I appreciate you doing the brunt work for me to use to back up my statements when I write them Jake!
I'm fighting for this article on ND right now, just trying to get people to consider it and write to the commissioners. This will affect my family negatively.
I found that they technically consider a junk vehicle as anything older than 3 years. Get real!
The Kommissars are not interested in reality...only ideology will do...write them but they believe they have complete control of the county and have the backing of the voting public...I believe they have the backing of an active and vocal minority...they will find out eventually because they will not deviate from their programming...U.N. Agenda 21+++, etc. Bless you and your family...many of us are faced with the insanity of the governance right now...this too shall pass but no one knows how much drama and chaos we'll have to go through.😎
All I can do is let people know the reality of the situation. Strong arming me into forcing my young, working children to be homeless on the streets is gonna be shouted from the rooftops
I would like to mention how proud I am of my Husband speaking up during the Forks Clallam County Budget Town Hall meeting and now I can say he is cc watchdog famous!
I do have a formal complaint that the highlight of the meeting wasn’t mentioned and it starts with “homemade….”
COOKIES! Dr. Sarah brought delicious COOKIES, and, since they were from a doctor, they were healthy and recommended.
Jason is my hero: “Fire the building department!”
And thank you again for the cookies(: That was thoughtfully delicious!
End 'selection' and get back to informed ELECTIONS!😎
Remove and replace. There's other talent out there.
Private school junior high debaters would be preferable to these psycho-commies!🥸
I'm all for property rights and I'm all for a clean backyard. However when using code enforcement to pressure citizens to clean up there property, one should look at the disposal fees forced on everyone. This fee is the highest in the state. Dig deep into where that money is going. And why is it the highest?
Great point. Trucking costs and a state that has engineered the highest fuel cost in the nation?
Look behind the curtain.
Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, Mao, Pol Pot are alive and well behind the curtain.😎
We only have garbage transfer stations here, no dump(s). The dump is in Eastern Washington. It’s been some time since I researched it, but I believe it’s around an 8 hour trip one way. Think just how much diesel is burned. Can the driver return in one day without being illegal? How much does the truck owner receive per round trip?
Where does our garbage go?
Thank you.
Trucking and disposal is a small fraction of the rate. For instance tip fees in forks are $129. COPA $244. $115 swing.
WOW, OUCH!
One should ask Mr French. He signed off on this.
The French Guillotine!
What is COPA and 'swing'?🤓
City of Port Angeles. And swing is the difference the on the price per ton forks transfer station vs Port Angeles transfer station
Thanks, Chad...so many acronyms!🤪
Now you see the difference between a privately ran service and one that's ran by the government.
More hypocrisy, err rubbish. Garbage has to go somewhere, but we don't have the stones to place a landfill in our own backyard. We'll foist it on other communities.
Can put it where the reservoir, that is not needed, is suppose to go.
A rare example of a fee/tax with a clear and immediate benefit to the community!
Eve, instead we have fee/tax curb side PIZZA delivery that is an immediate benefit to ? (not the community)
MK, I still repurpose cast offs. They turn out better than new!
This community is rich with cast offs actually. There's a natural life cycle that's on full display in a retirement town where the eventual downsizing is someone else's gain.
I love to repurpose. It is fun and then fits your space :D
It's a plan, for sure!🤓
Everyone knows Garbage is big business and has been tied to criminal behavior for decades.
Those who can pay, don't have to...those who can barely pay, pay more...those who can't pay, get extra stuff. Boof me a Rainbow!🌈
Stripping the copper out? Hell no. Never.
Ken, washing clothes in the dishwasher? Hell no. Never.
I might try that myself, Jennifer!
This sounds like an episode of I Love Lucy ❤️
Commissioners, you got some 'splainin to do...
They would be a reason for a “NAY” I’d bet.
You can even cook a salmon in there! Especially, after all the salmon return by restoring creeks.
Lori, well then, lets add fish cleaning in the kitchen sink and a smell that won't go away after cooking it.
Cigarette butts clogging the dishwasher? Never!😱
Hoarding? Hell no. Never!
Little doggie can’t go out in the rain to poo, and besides so freaking out of it can’t manage anything right now.
ok, now that's a little personal.🤣 But my hoarding is for good causes...I actually Use materials out of my hoard of boards and slews of screws and slings of things!
Just invert common sense and the world makes sense!
What kind of mind-set or entity(s) would set up such a scenario?🤓
Oh Jennifer that is being intrusive to people, no rules Jennifer that is strictly prohibited….ask French & Sisk.
Well, a little violence is necessary for 'change', don'tchaknow?😎
So, buy 2 motor homes, live in each 180 days🤔
Lee Stohr for DCD Director!!!
Leave a Safeway grocery cart at each one. Store indoor furniture outdoors for 3 years.
It has a predictable outcome if:
Code Enforcement Manager Diane Harvey told commissioners:
Jake, they have been deaf, dumb and blind so far. I believe only voting them out will allow them to regain those senses ; )
I disagree, Susan. I met you and you are delightful and witty... far from "bitter and annoyed."
Plenty of time for cynicism and bitterness! In the end, that has to go too!😊
Third-eye-blind and tone-deaf communists are not going to 'take it to heart'!
Sociopaths don't have access to 'heart'!
It's them or us!😎
Do ya all recall the failing septic systems BOCC meeting?
Great new phrase, Jennifer! “follow the rules if you own the land, or don’t follow the rules if you don’t own the land.”
Land owners are fools in Clallam County.
Land-renters...we pay the masters for occupying 'our' land!😎
It’s like belonging to a corrupt Time Share. We need a Chuck McDowell.
Thank you for this comment. Philip. You are right: these issues can be solved.
And that's the part that rings true in my head.
They have backbone...it is communist-installed backbone of despotism and tyranny!
They are doing their jobs for their masters...that'd not be us!😎
Walk of Shame!
About three over the limit!
https://www.clallamcountywa.gov/179/Code-Enforcement
The clowns will be voted out when better ideas rise to the top because that will clarify and solidify that voters have better options.
Sincerely, Mike
Great points on property rights, Michael.
Thank you for your gracious compliment, Jake~!
Keep the faith~!
Sincerely, Mike
They are only rights if we can keep them!😎
And keep them we shall~! ;-)
Have a mellow Sunday afternoon my friend!
Sincerely, Mike
😊
The mobile home park has a real negative impact for you and neighbors. It’s just like the depreciation of an auto once driven off the lot. If there is no ownership on the property the mfg home sits, there will be little “pride “ to maintain . There is a park in Renton and they kept raising the per month fee. This was about 7 years ago. The monthly with water and garbage was $1400 . Electric was separate. Way above what people could pay. Then the management would offer them a really low ball amount , get them out and rent to people who were willing to pay. Talk about extortion.
Good morning, Patriot Susan C Bonallo~!
Sincerely, Mike
I’m glad you wrote the impact developments have from first hand experience. I have been saying to anyone that would listen, if the Seabrook model gets passed on Sequim Bay, it will be a different world for residents. But the county would love to charge for all those permits. It helps balance the budget they can’t seem to stay in. By the next year real estate taxes would start being collected. Yet another “ Get Out Of Jail”! Budget, we don’t need no stinking
budget.
Thanks Susan~!
BTW: the renters did not improve the resale value.
True!
My last thought for today is a quote from William Pitt 1st Earl of Chatham "unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minbs of those who possess it"
Good Day ☀️
No one here has 'unlimited' power but when they think they do it always leads to disaster!
I'm so glad that you pointed that out, Lloyd.
Tis the season for counter-treason! Do unto others as they do unto you?
Treason becomes duty when tyrants reign!😎
It's been said. In the communist playbook. Acuse them of what you are doing. No kings rallies. They literally use our tax dollars to support antifa the self proclaimed anarchist. Dei is racist by its own definition. Claiming child abuse for being against mutilating kids. The list goes on. What will it take for their sheep to see the light?
Anarchist and Anti-Christ are pretty close, eh?☺️
Commissioner French gets an "F" from the ICLEI for his Lockean economic theory statement, "The basis of property rights is productive use."
I'll give him an "A" when the county's code enforcement first goes after the destructive use of public property.
I knew you would point that out, MK(;
We need a good old fashion Whiskey Rebellion!
If only it could be resolved by drunken shoot-outs in the streets...it worked for Rooster Cogburn and Clint-The-Squint...when fiction becomes reality?
Are we there yet?🤓
Robert, I'll meet you there at High Noon.
The Whiskey Rebellion failed. What we need is another Great Awakening.
GM, okay, how about a French Revolution?
I’ll pass on something like that. Madness fed by a purity spiral until there is no one left to kill?
So messy...the French have never recovered from their revolution and now are collapsing under communism.
The problem becomes that when the 'tipping point' is reached there are still no morals and values guiding when to act and when to stop...the killing continued far beyond getting rid of 'the bad guys'...but people still managed to overpopulate the planet in spite of all the wars and pandemics/plandemics, natural catastrophes, etc...
The will for sado-masochism is the only thing that seems infinite!
God loves a good drama!🎭🤓
With guillotines?😜
Robert you seem a little too excited about that!
Must be the French in me...if I have any?🤪
Or just a good Old Fashion !
Protests and demonstrations have little impact on real change...it is pleading with your rulers to treat you better, but they are not empathic, wise entities and they don't give a shit what you like or don't like...they have their orders...or as the nazis' would say: "I was just following orders!"🥸
Or as the Commiziners would say, "I know nothing, nothing!"
Yeah, blame it on the other guy, any other guy. (or gal)
Life without timely consequences is disastrous for all concerned.😟
I'm sad to report that you'll never make it as the poster boy for harm reduction.
I'm just trying to reduce my own harm!😂
Also people sleeping under umbrellas, nasty! Take that away
Can you lien an umbrella? LOL
Punish the homeless and addicted, I'm pretty sure that will help!
We need to punish the lawlessness in government...that's what this country was founded upon!
We need compassionate care (sequestered under ethical supervision) for the mentally ill and homeless, not coddling them in the streets!
We need real jobs for people to do on wages they can live on.
There is nothing this government is doing to move in a positive direction.
Freedom and liberty...use them or lose them!😎
Good. It sucks!
Certainly imperfect, but I prefer it to no laws at all. Maybe work at changing it, as opposed to complaining about it.
The problem isn't the LAW... the problem is the LEGALIZATION of LAW!
Look up the difference between Legal and Lawful.
Legality distorts Law and operates under 'color of law' meaning ANYTHING can be made to be legal...or illegal.
The LAW is very clear...'lawyering' is clearly unclear! Broken system!
Intentionally corrupt...the "LAW" means completely different things to different moralities...it's a big club... and we ain't in it!😎
I’ve been doing just that for over 40 years.
I've talked to other business owners in PA similarly fed up with the same.
These policies choke the golden goose. Beyond comprehension how idiotic this mindset is that simply looks for more golden gooses to choke.
It's the destruction of the middle class, ironic isn't it that the kommissars are part of the middle class...upper middle in CC...they fail to see that the machine they are building will grind them into the dirt as soon as they have fulfilled their roles.
Oh, well, live and don't learn!😎
There has to be a compensation mechanism for the tribes and the world economy. Colleen is only having coffee with the tribes and the Canadians these days..
The more who understand this, the more we can do!☺️
Muti- generational housing is a new norm.
Thank you for sharing your story, SC and for standing up for the citizens by telling the commissioners as well. They need to hear it.
Get real!
Why get real?...When you can 'ideal'!😱
SC, many shouts become a roar!
You make a strong argument here that cannot be swept aside.
