So let me get this straight. Many of the local farmers, some of whom I know personally, and some who have direct ties to pioneer families, are just fine taking money from the tax payers to do nothing with their land? I'm actually deeply disappointed. But thank you Jeff for having the courage to name the names publicly and show how much they are taking from taxpayers. Now do teachers and government workers and we will absolutely know why this battle against NGO's and corruption is deeper than anyone may realize.

To share the wealth with third world countries who's 30 days of bunker fuel and diesel fuel emissions don't make to the EPA or Washington Ecology emissions pie chart. We pay our farmers not to farm so we can pollute the planet with shipping emissions in order to share the wealth. Build capacity for the world economy to help fund Soros' attack on America.

TJ, I remember our family renting 144 acre farm in Nokesville, Virginia in the early 60's. We did not farm it, just rented the home. The land supported not only grazing cattle, but farmed land. The owner, as I remember told us he was paid by the government to not grow corn. Why? At that age I didn't care. Is this the same thing? And Why again?

I know there are many programs through the USDA and conservation programs that do exactly that, pay farmers to leave croplands fallow or "retire" areas to native grass. I'm just disappointed that farmers have come to rely on this money. Some circles would call this welfare, but I guarantee you every farmer on the list above would vehemently deny they were receiving welfare.

TJ Thank you for your reply. That is disheartening. But what is the advantage for the USDA? I'm so confused. What is the goal? It can't be for just native grasses. If the land has to be returned to "native grasses" there is no such thing as "native" anymore, including JST claim of native. All has been cross breed and diluted to the point of being IMO non-native.

I'm getting very sick of the Tribal stances and whining, and perhaps the reason our farmers have folded and (who wouldn't, the Tribes do) bend the knee and take the money.

It's almost impossible to make your stand on principle when all your competitors are being paid off through NGO tax money. So I'm sure the argument from the farmers would be "I'd be a fool not to take the money". But it's that very money that creates dependency on the government. Exactly what most farmers and ranchers are absolutely against.

What a system. The government takes money from the citizens. Distributes it back to groups creating dependency. The groups show more need because they've been promised the money if needed. The government takes more money from the citizens. and the cycle continues.

I will say out loud, “NOOOO”.

Why Chi’s did you get on board with this???

Did you know, the City (or County) pulled their “Funding” (Chi’s) from local food bank?

Was this a trick for Chi’s to drink the koolaide??

I support them.

They feed me and my family.

A small local farm.

Not anymore.

I stand hard in my resistance.

IF They cut that tie, i will go back.

And just like that!!

Fight Fight Fight!

Resist!

I am saddened that a REAL farmer would take blood money.

However, We are not dealing with our Grandfather’s farming generation unfortunately.

The devil puts his flashy colors on and bedazzles.

Stop 🛑.

I hope to get out to see you guys Saturday.

Thanks Jake!

Thanks Jeff!

Thank you for the plethora of info.

Jeff, I couldn't you believe my ears at Tuesday's BoCC meeting! Comm. Ozias was proud to report to us all the good things that CCD does, when all he did was disclose the palming of bribes? I can't believe that Ozias is on the Board of the Sequim Food Bank and pays off farmers to not farm! They are so tangled in their own webs that they are lost. Every week we give the Comms directions to the right path, and every week they ignore us. Thank you for getting this out to the public, Jeff, as everyone needs know how all of this really works and who gets the pay-offs.

I missed that connection. Commissioner Ozias, serving on the Food Bank Board, is a proponent of paying farmers not to grow food! Denise, you pick up things I miss, and that's why I value having so many of us attend meetings... you, and everyone else, catch the things I don't.

Im going to have to get some more chapstick for my ass. what a crock of ...... these pricks, sittin there deciding how much money to extract out of our pocket then just packing their buddies pockets and in the case of Smith their own pockets is criminal. Im going to spread this info far and wide. A couple hundred thousand bucks may not seem like much in a budget of millions. But the fact that this whole state is run this way is scarry. They have so many ways of literaly stealing from us and sharing the wealth with their partners in crime. Unreal.

Unrelated? But is it? We have a small rv. When the license was due there was a $6.00 charge listed as other. WTF is other? Upon discussion, my wife called the auditors office. The lady was quite helpful. However, her image of the post card did not show (other).Checking online she printed out a sheet showing that the $6.00 was to help pay for the removal or whatever of abandoned recreational vehicles. Now, the $6.00 will not put us in the poverty house. The (other) was used in order to avoid pushback. The same type of fee is on boats when will vehicles be next? Probably already is, just hidden. Rant complete,I apologize.

You bring up an excellent point. We are already paying to have derelict RVs and cars dismantled. Why is there a six month process with the state of Washington to take ownership of junk vehicles and dispose of them? During Covid Walmart had a dozen derelict vehicles that were abandoned in their parking lot and it took months for them to work through the red tape in order to dispose of them. This is some nonsense bullshit right here.

"...the $6.00 was to help pay for the removal or whatever of abandoned recreational vehicles."

I can give you some input here. I have a little personal story that may explain it. My brother had a derelict RV on his property. I called King Co. (where he lives) to see where he could take it. There is no title, so he can't just take it to a dump or a recycling facility. So, the KC rep told him to "just go dump it on the side of a public road and it will be hauled away." So, he proceeded to do just that. A park ranger nearby saw the derelict RV on the side of the road and he followed the tracks from it back to his house (easy for him to do as one of the tires was flat). He reamed my brother a new one! "You can't leave that RV there, go remove it!" My brother told him what the rep said. He even called back KC and got the same lady. He put it on speaker phone. She told him the same thing and the ranger heard it. He was shocked! After the call was over, he told my brother to go pick it up anyway. My brother ended up, as there is NO place to take un-titled derelict RV or other vehicles to, fixing the tire and hauling it somewhere else as the KC rep had suggested.

I suspect that this "removal... of abandoned recreational vehicles" that we pay the $6.00 for is that. Homes of homeless people left behind for us to clean up.

Derelict RV's and Boats are expensive to scrap. They have to be dismantled. An RV typically costs about $2k to dispose of. Wood, insulation, fiberglass, glass, carpets, tires and foam go to the landfill. Frame, engine, wheels to scrap steel. Labor for separation of materials is big $$$. Same with boats.

Automobiles actually have a positive value. Most the time they'll pay enough (by weight) at the scrap yard to warrant a free pickup of your non running worn out family truckster.

Lawrence I am aware of what you have written. However I do not see what it has to do with me. If I wreck I pay for disposal. My point is the $6.00 is not shown for what it is, intentionally. $6.00, what the hell pay it and go on.

It looks like the $5 parcel fee was a premediated decision to give the disclosed farmers the $ they are expecting. And by excepting free $ from specialty groups these people are expected to support that political party that lines their pockets. All these specialty groups have the same result 'costing taxpayers more endless $$$..... It is possible that farmers are being setup to quit farming by getting more and more free $$$ and then will lose interest in farming and then sell out to big corp which was the premediated goal.Right now in idaho farmers are dealing with their water rights being attacked by land grabbers.Farmers are being lied to as usual to get them to comply.Shiney trinkets have a way of obscuring your vision and savvy people should know this.

So, this seem funky. I would like to see the avg. income from the crops, not watered, the farmers have made over a 5 year period. Also, need to figure in the savings from not farming watering the land. For example, if they would have made X amt on avg. for the crops grown, then subtract the work hours cost and the fuel, equipment, seed, etc costs, then you have the net from those cops.

Is the payout from the commission more than they would have made netted on the crop work and sale.

Also, are they still growing and selling the crops on those lands but just using less water - that seems like a double dip.

The commission needs to work within their existing budget! Not essentially fine residents for the commissions decisions! Hard NO on this fee!
