Good Governance Daily Proverb:

Good governance does not ask whether an ally is fashionable or radical; it asks whether public power is being exercised impartially, lawfully, and without special favor.

Dr. Sarah's avatar

This proverb is validated most directly by RCW 42.23.070, which prohibits local officials from using their position to secure special privileges for themselves or others; Clallam County Charter § 12.70, which requires elected officers to perform their duties faithfully, impartially, and honestly; Clallam County Code 3.01.030, which bars use of office or confidential information for personal benefit; and the Open Public Meetings Act, especially RCW 42.30.030 and RCW 42.30.060, which require governing bodies to act openly and lawfully in public meetings. In quasi-judicial matters, chapter 42.36 RCW adds an additional requirement of fairness and the appearance of fairness.

It's all words with no enforcement for accountability.

"Clallam County Charter § 12.70, which requires elected officers to perform their duties faithfully, impartially, and honestly"

You said it, MK! There is no one here who can or will enforce these codes.

I was at the meeting when Wheeler praised Ozias and his wife. What struck me more about his demeanor was what happened after he praised them. He took his opportunity to publicly speak and used it instead to dress down the audience about having the audacity to exercise their first amendment rights, as well as the OPMA, to speak out against Ozias.

The Democratic party of yesteryear would have disavowed themselves from someone like this. What have they become?

Birds of a feather ...

Denise Lapio's avatar

Nothing like having a front row seat to witness all the evidence verifying what Ozias truly is.

I should have eaten my breakfast before reading this. Now I am too nauseated to eat. What these people have done to Clallam county makes me sick-- literally.

MK's avatar

The question is, do Clallam County residents (readers of the CCWD) want to continue to tolerate that a handful of people will control this county?

What more must it take before you have less/no choice?

Not only vote for Jake to bring balance back at the Commissioner level, but actually get involved beyond reading and typing.

We need boots on the ground, or asses in a seat directly supporting the change.

Indeed! That's what I do for about 8 hours/day, even though I now live in Idaho. I am what is called an "Armchair Activist". I spread political news and info to about 1700 followers-- like here, mostly preaching to the choir-- but I see that they share some of my posts to who knows whom, so the conservative word is spread. I let the WA legislators know my position on their bills. I financially help Jeff, Jake, and others as I can. On rare occasions, I've even waved signs, but that is diminishing. I do what I can. My heart is with you all in Clallam County-- our home where we were going to live out our days until the miserable parasitic Democrats drove us out. I LOATHE Democrats! For every one of them that is good, and has integrity, there are between 99 and 999 that are the opposite! Self-serving, power-hungry evil!

Steve O.'s avatar

The problem is that red states such as Oklahoma, Texas, Utah etc will eventually turn blue because of demographics. Leftist cultural Marxists in red districts win elections as conservatives but vote with democrats. Lisa McCousky and Susan Collins are only nominal Republicans. The system is rigged.

MK, I believe many of the subscribers are spreading the word in different ways. We all shine somewhere, even from a chair and a keyboard ; )

I live here and work in town (PA) daily. I see the whole area (Clallam County) as a literal sewer these days. I see and deal with the homeless drug people, daily. The trash on the highways has grown to insanity levels. The homeless have effected my business to the negative. I grew up here enjoying all the beauty this place had to offer: boating/fishing and backpacking into the wilderness, etc. I no longer do any of those things. I feel like a foreigner in my own hometown. I live near the Discovery Trail, and find it 'not safe' anymore to walk/bike/run, even with a dog or another person. I've experienced 'encounters' with homeless-drug people on the Disc.Trail. There are 'break-ins' to vech's at various D.T. parking. There is a great sadness that comes along with seeing a once beautiful-safe place, I grew up in, now being destroyed! I am sickened by it, too!

Susie Blake's avatar

The trash on 101 all through the county and 112 as well is downright shameful

Steve O.'s avatar

A vacant lot borders my property and a few years ago tents began to form and near the walking trail. Gradually I began to notice feces residing on the margins of that trail. At first I thought that people were not monitoring their dogs properly but then I also saw toilet paper which indicated human agency. Trash began to form and I began to notice rats in my shed. I haven't seen the structures in a few years so somebody with power removed the defective humans. When I called the sheriff, I was told nothing could be done because I did not own the vacant lot.

No One Important's avatar

I wonder if the useless sheriff would say the same thing if it was a dead body you found, instead of Ozias-- I mean feces.

veronica's avatar

It's awful. Over the last 10 years it had gotten crazy

Steve O.'s avatar

I have lived here 12 years and began to notice a difference about the same time the tribal meth clinic was constructed. The homeless criminals are a symptom of the local politics. The problem didn't seem as pervasive when Armacost was mayor. Since then the leftist carpet baggers from other states have arrived like a plague of mosquitos sucking the blood from tax payers.

Susan C Bonallo's avatar

I remember the people that did not want the meth clinic stating potential problems that you say now exist. I bet you are not shocked by the outcome.

I’m shocked by the absolute and obvious lack of attention by the monkeys in office. you know the statue with one monkeys eyes are covered, the next one has his ears covered, and the third his mouth covered. That’s our BOCCC. Deaf, Blind, and NOT COMMUNICATING. What a waste of resources, we aren’t teaching old dogs anything new here. We are being schooled on just how poorly a county official can act with zero consequences. Where is the public representation when our “Leaders” don’t engage. Has anyone in the real world had a job that you could get away with that?

No One Important's avatar

Remember-- they changed the law so that ethics violations had no consequences.

No One Important's avatar

I wonder if this was the plan all along-- bring in addicts, make a mess, drive out people, close businesses, flood 3 Crabs, raise taxes, waste money on climbing-fish passageways, etc, etc, etc, to drive people out, shutter businesses, and then the Tribe can acquire them for pennies on the dollar...

Susan C Bonallo's avatar

You know when you sum it up like that, it seems like a very comprehensive plan.

Oh my what could the motive be?

We are living on tribal land. We must be taught a lesson. We could hold title companies responsible bc after all that’s why they get the big$ to make sure we aren’t entering into a property purchase that has liens or holds against it being clear to sell.

Sarah Kincaid's avatar

I no longer use the Discovery trail for the same reasons. The only section I feel safe using is the strip along Hendrickson.

I moved here almost 26 years ago because of the peace and beauty. I never dreamed it could change for the worse. At least not to this extent.

Good morning Jeff,

What a great article. I have often pondered the reasons that people would listen to the likes of Tim Wheeler and Communists in general. A system of abuse of power and leaving the masses with nada. If you're part of the government you are okay to great in life if not you suffer dearly!

We have friends that have escaped those abuses and scream on the sidewalks in Olympia to a deaf crowd of Sheeple who believe they are doing the good in the world. Live it and see if that's really what this state needs. Mark Ozias walking in step with these fools makes sense. Where else could he thrive trying to make a living off his word salads.

I find it strange they're getting a taste by the tyranny being laid down by Ferguson and nobody's marching against him. Hmmmm.

Thank you Jeff for the article and Jake for the great comments to the advisory board.

Have a great day All!

I will just keep those thoughts to myself. However, I do not think there is a diplomatic or political compromise with these people. The world they want to see is pretty bleak and I have grand-kids to think of. And things are much worse than the average Sheeple American has any idea of.

Steve O.'s avatar

Joel I agree with you but the cultural Marxists are far more unified and motivated than the right wing. BTW with a few exceptions I don't consider Republicans to be right wing however "any port in a storm" should still prevail because third party candidates can become spoilers to the main parties.

Wheeler represents the kind of people who keep protesting in support of the Islamic dictatorship which has killed tens of thousands of freedom-loving people in Iran. I’m happy today that the US military keeps whacking every mole the dictatorship names as its supreme leader.

They protest to support the status quo in homelessness and drug use. Hey, it’s big business in ClallamCo.

They protest to support the new state income tax as “progressive” even as Washington icons like Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announce plans to leave.

They protest to support higher local taxes (for government employees receiving rich “living wage” salaries) which make housing more expensive and drive up rents.

As wrong as guys like Wheeler are, I would fight for his right to express himself in public because that’s what Americans do. I have to wonder if he would do the same for any CCW followers.

Denise Lapio's avatar

Rep. Jayapal is very much a supporter of everything anti-America. Right down to believing in Sharia Law and implementing it here in WA. Wheeler supports her, therefore Ozias does.

Steve O.'s avatar

This is the problem with the importation of foreign cultures not compatible with ours. LOL when a Muslim in New York tossed a bomb at the cops the other day the mayor denounced White Supremacy.

Steve O.'s avatar

I think Sequim needs about thirty or forty Somali day care centers and a giant Mosque on Washington. The bell chimes on St. Lukes should be replaced with a Muslim "call to prayer".

Steve O.'s avatar

Has Jayapal had a clitorectomy? If so that might be the reason the woman exists in a constant state of anger.

Eric Fehrmann's avatar

I also advocate for freedom of speech. I also advocate for honesty in educating the history of communism and democracy. The best teachers would be those with ‘lived experience’.

Wheelers service is to communism period.

Steve O.'s avatar

I hate people who wish to "save the world" not because their motivation is wrong but because it always seems to fail The Shaw of Iran was a brutal tyrant, but what followed was even worse. Apartheid in South Africa was morally wrong and look at the country now. The same principle applies to Rhodesia. This Wheeler character would probably have Jeff under house arrest.

Steve O.'s avatar

Even now certain content producers on the internet are demonetized by major banks if they challenge the prevailing orthodoxy. BTW Bezos also left. Most of the leftist billionaires have moved to Florida.

Dale Russell's avatar

"Do you trust someone who praises communism but has never experienced it firsthand?"

Communism for thee but not for me. I have met a few people who lived in eastern Europe under the communists. And a few people who lived in Viet Nam and Cambodia under the communists. None of them long for the good old days. Wheeler and his wife should move to China, Russia or N. Korea if they are so convinced communism is a better way to structure society.

Denise Lapio's avatar

Wheeler and his brood would be royalty if the moved to a Communist run country. Defected Americans willingly living in an "enemy's" camp? What are they waiting for?

Steve O.'s avatar

They are similar to cock roaches and would adapt to their new environment. IMO though race is stronger than ideology ( except for Whites ) and eventually the Democratic Party will lose candidates to separate local tribal interests and the country will become balkanized. In Minnesota two Somali tribes that hate each other caused a greasy mayor to become elected. When I lived in Arizona I remember that the Pima and Navajo hated each other.

Steve O.'s avatar

The key is to join the Democratic Party and, in the primary, nominate candidates from warring tribes to split the ticket for general elections in order to weaken the party.

Steve O.'s avatar

We need more spies and quislings.

Dale Russell's avatar

I should add that Viet Nam is still nominally a communist country. But, after years of the system failing to provide the basic economic needs of the people, the one party government loosened restrictions on private ownership of property (previously everything was owned by the state), allowed farmers and merchants to set prices for goods and services (previously all prices were set by the central government), etc. One example of the result: Viet Nam went from having to import rice to being a net exporter.

ABeetlebaum's avatar

Yes. There are many products imported from Vietnam. Pottery, baskets, other crafts, etc. Almost everything in World Market is imported from Vietnam...

Steve O.'s avatar

I believe this conflict with Iran is a proxy war against China and in the future when we visit Walmart the tags on all the items will say, "Made in Vietnam". China has become too powerful

Steve O.'s avatar

The collective ideology doesn't match human nature. Market Capitalism as described by Adam Smith was far more successful than Mercantilism which preceded it because Evolution has designed us to be selfish though within our own small group we display empathy. We are still basically mammals.

Dale Russell's avatar

Very true, but don't try and convince the communists/socialists.

A couple of quotes I came across a long time ago that apply:

Socialism requires you to believe that most humans are so horribly stupid, deceitful and greedy that they must be monitored, regulated and coerced into proper behavior...by other humans who have instantly become immeasurably brilliant, trustworthy and altruistic by virtue of having uttered the magic words, "I'm with the Government."

It’s easy to be socialist in a free society. It’s impossible to be free in a socialist society.

ABeetlebaum's avatar

"I'm with the Government and I'm here to help." that was his 9 most terrifying words speech in 1986. He was right.

Steve O.'s avatar

"The capitalist will sell the rope on Friday. The Revolution occurs on Saturday and he is hanged on Monday. LOL on Tuesday the Communist is overthrown because the population wants smart phones, internet and cable television. Dale Russell has described a cognitive dissonance that must exist in the mind of every arm-chair communist.

Steve O.'s avatar

These abstract concepts provide beautiful models but they begin with a false premise and ignore a simple fact. Most males are competitive and wish to be superior to other males. That is the reason we mow our lawns and drive giant expensive pickup trucks.

Steve O.'s avatar

The process is biological. We are like peacocks and our plumage is designed to attract females.

Steve O.'s avatar

The Kubrick film Dr. Strangelove was hilarious because in one scene the Communist ambassador admitted that under the Soviet System the women wanted nylon stockings. I imagine Communist China, Kampuchea and East Berlin experienced similar obstacles. BTW the same principle applies to Monarchies and dictatorships.

ABeetlebaum's avatar

I have been ringing the bell about Tim Wheeler and his communist activities on the Peninsula and beyond since I first discovered who he was and what he was about during the fight against the MAT clinic and the Sequim City Council campaigns. He works quietly (mostly) behind the scenes, using other people to do his dirty work of ruining reputations with outrageous, fabricated lies against anyone conservative from POTUS to the lowest political activist. Wow, Jeff! Great job. Thank you.

I recommend everyone read about the Venona Project. I believe it was “In the Enemy’s House,” by Howard Blum that I read many years ago.

Two key figures were Robert Lamphere, FBI, and Meredith Gardner, Army Security Agency. I was with the ASA in Panama in 1967 when Che Guevara was captured in Bolivia by some of our Army Special Forces and Bolivians.

The Bolivians soon altered, appropriately in my opinion, Che’s temperature status to that of the other dirt in the area.

“The only good commie is a dead commie.” I believe that. Many used to say that about “Injuns.” I don’t believe that, but we seem to have a growing number who deserve watching and correcting.

Why did Jimmy Carter have a problem with the Panama Canal? Why did he give so much support to Habitat for Humanity? How is housing approached locally?

Decades of communist treachery still.

My personal perspective on communism evolved after reading Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. I looked into the writer's motivation. She was born in Communist Russia. Her father, a successful pharmacist, lost the family business & wealth when the Communist regime nationalized private property. Her core philosophy is that laissez-faire capitalism is the moral and practical basis for society. I found myself agreeing.. Shaped my world view.

Jeff, a great article! Reads like this hit a special part of my heart. I grew up hearing the stories from my immigrant grandmother who fled German colonies in Russia (now Ukraine) in 1907. The family members who did not escape were either murdered or exiled to Siberia where they died from hardship. I learned the history that history books don't teach. She was extremely grateful to live in America, but always waned "don't think it can't happen here". It is here, and growing faster than I ever thought possible.

The "Elites" teach their kids logic and how to rule. About real money and how "money" even works. But for some decades now, the paltry excuse for education, "Public Education" has replaced logic, math and HOW to learn (and figure shit out yourself) with a new way of thinking. Which isn't. Emotional bla-bla and talk about feelings. How does that make you FEEL Johnny? Talking about the Communists and the really dumb ones further down the leftist ladder, the "Useful Idiots" now. The "Drug CRISIS". The Homeless CRISIS. The this crisis and the that crisis. This is all to ensnare the beaten down until mush, the emotions of a very soft society. Bloody wimps. When a human, not destined to contribute his DNA, played in the jungle too late into the evening and was eaten by the tiger, they didn't contribute to the gene pool. Simple. If someone plays on the freeway or blasts themselves with Fentenyl, too bad so sad. And I DO feel for them. But not as much as the "feel first, think last" crowd. All these CRISES are not my problem (or FAULT I should have said) or my concern and I draw the line on taking MY money to give to people eaten by the tiger who played in the jungle too late in the day. And all the trigger words designed to wrap a rope around people and gag them such as RACIST, NAZI and all that nonsense. Bring it on. You won't shut me up. The foreign invasion of shit-hole escapees are not my concern but they may have made them my/our problem. Full circle to the 2nd Amendment and why the cold dead fingers is a topic around my cave.

And the Tim Wheelers of the county think they will be the ELITE are going to be surprised when there is no one left to speak for them.

Yeah, my ol’ buddy Alex Jones mentioned at least fifteen years ago that they think they will have a seat at the NWO Round Table unaware that such traitors always get lined up along dimpled walls. They are very stupid about history. But also historically, the Communists as you already know have killed way more people than anyone else in modern history. A fact to remember clutching that projectile flinger they want so badly to rid us of.

Damn, I have a real problem refraining from my “old fart story time” but I have a ton of them and humor has gotten me through most everything. I am thinking back to when my eldest daughter Nina was in the fourth grade. She had a wonderful caring teacher at the time. Unfortunately, Nina had two words mixed up in her vocabulary. The words were klutz and slut. So when her teacher dropped a tray of pencils or whatnot and they went all over the floor, Nina said “you slut”. Good thing the teacher was a reasonable and good communicator and all that became of that was a lesson and a chuckle.

It just goes to show you what happens when you allow or vote in a communist in a constitutional Republic... Is it that they don't care or are they purposely trying to subvert our great town and country... Either way Socialist, Marxist politics have failed EVERY time they have been implemented in every society since the beginning of time. People need to wake up, study their history, and get a grip before it's to late.

Clallamity Jen's avatar

A marxist event is celebrated every March now by millions of people, and it’s one event I don’t hold with, even if it is aimed at my gender: Women’s Day. Marxism and communist sentiments are everywhere in America; it’s just become normalized and accepted as part of the culture now while the origins are not as commonly known.

Women’s Day is not an event to honor all women; it’s an event to praise working women, proven by the lack of praise given to housewives and homemakers on that day — women who are not in the workforce. As a woman, I like to think of every day as Women’s Day; only communist women would praise themselves one day a year. LOL.

From Google AI: International Women's Day (IWD) has its origins in the early 20th-century Marxist and socialist movements. It was established by communist activist Clara Zetkin at a 1910 international conference to promote women's suffrage and rights. While it was long associated with the Soviet Union and leftist causes, it has since become a mainstream global event.

Key Historical Details

Origin: The first International Women's Day was proposed by Clara Zetkin in 1910 in Copenhagen to promote women's rights and suffrage through a socialist framework.

Socialist Roots: It originated from the Socialist Party of America's 1909 Women's Day and was closely linked with socialist, communist, and working-class struggles.

Russian Revolution: In 1917, Russian women workers chose International Women's Day (March 8th) to protest for "bread and peace," a major event that helped spark the Russian Revolution.

Communist Holiday: In 1922, Lenin declared March 8th an official communist holiday.

Evolution: While historically rooted in Marxism, the day was adopted by second-wave feminists in the late 1960s and has largely become a mainstream, often apolitical, celebration.

Today, the day is widely recognized, but it retains strong ties to its activist, Left-coded roots.

Ah good point, as a worker who aspires to be a FT housewife again someday when I "retire" I forget about this. Look at the value in current dollars:

The economic value of a stay-at-home parent in 2025-2026 is estimated to be between $140,000 and over $200,000 annually. This figure accounts for the multiple roles performed—including childcare, cleaning, cooking, and management—based on what it would cost to hire professionals for these tasks.
