“Huh. Not my money. May as well spend it”. Typical politician. Say anything to get elected.

It’s high time the county’s taxpayers, I said taxpayers, put their foot down on a lift of the lid on property taxes. If you’re a freeloader, living off the public teat, tune out please. With less than 90 days to rally, us taxpayers must say “no” to increased property taxes on the upcoming ballot in November 2025.

Can’t you just see the “yes-voters” lining up at the ballot boxes. “For the children”. “The hospital will turn people away”. “Nine-1-1 calls will go unanswered”. “Criminals will walk the streets”. “Domestic violence will proliferate”. “Construction projects will halt”. “After school programs will vanish”

Pa-leeeez spare me. Vote no. Unless they reword the ballot wording, where yes means no and no means yes.

Full disclosure; I reject the concept of "government schools". We have an addiction problem in the US but it does not involve fentanyl. Our citizens are addicted to the government. The only reason to call 911 is to report a dead criminal.

Why should our government be involved in domestic violence? Why should my property tax provide an after school program? My after school program involved changing sprinklers on a farm. That period was when I realized that wealth was not only power but also freedom.

I wish all construction projects would disappear. If the property value of my house were reduced to zero and it included a reduction of the recent population contaminating our streets I would vote for the ballot measure. The people moving here are very unpleasant.

Sadly this is a reflection of the political direction the county is heading, with the majority of new arrivals in large measure blue staters that believe government is the answer, not self reliance. Many years ago I wrote a political thesis that basically said, when the population reaches a point where 51% of the people get free stuff, it’s over, since they’ll never vote to give up THEIR fair share. Elections matter.

Don’t be surprised if the big spenders defend Johnson with a “how could you say that after he had to watch [Clallam icon] John Brewer die?”

The truth is, we don’t expect Johnson to vote like a DOGE Republican in a county that long ago fell to the Far Left of Lenin. We do expect him to stand up for smart spending and a focus on law enforcement, infrastructure and basic needs.

Why does tax money have to pay for everything? What's wrong with charging admission for the fair? What's wrong with charging vendor and exhibitors a modest fee? When did people get conditioned to believe that taxes must pay for everything whether we want it, can afford it, or not?

I can choose not to attend the fair if I can't afford it, but I can't avoid the taxes if I can't afford them. It's thuggery! It's extortion! Why can't churches, charities, and volunteers pay for programs they believe in? Randy, Mark, and Mike can voluntarily donate chunks of their salaries for boofing kits and syringes if they think that's the cat's meow to tread irresponsible drug use. Charities used to pay for altruism from dollars people DONATED VOLUNTARILY. Somewhere along the line this was replaced by governmental extortion.

In a free country, people choose where their money goes, not have it forcibly taken from them. The U.S. didn't even have income tax until 1913, now look. Let's return to freer days, so that people can choose whether they want to eat, have electricity, or provide irresponsible bums with free pizza and drug paraphernalia.

Are we going to rally at the courthouse prior to the vote?

Randy's comment about funds going to law and justice, justice for who? Public Defenders for criminals and vagrants? If you can not afford a lawyer one will be provided for you free of charge? So we're paying for the defense of people that get arrested over and over? These people don't get prison terms, but get out to commit more crimes, and WE pay over and over for their defense. Meanwhile, they encourage vagrants to come to Clallam with the promise of free everything. These commissioners don't care about the working class, they have their agenda and nothing will sway them differently. Ozias is aiming for higher office and has to prove he's a true socialist. The hospital get $$$$ from medicad and let vagrant/drug addicts sleep in the ER every night so they can collect medicad fees. Why would any sane person vote for more taxes? The County Fair has been going downhill for years there is a very hard push to increase the number of vendors and less on community displays. One example is the antique Tractor's and engine displays they have been pushed into smaller and smaller area for displaying their equipment. It seems that the head of the county parks department is more interested in venders.

I always believed that the fair should be for the people of the community to show the history of the county. The county fair board along with county commissioners seem to be enamored with the county parks department head and the community has zero to little say in the matters.

Exactly, Jeff! I've also have questioned Comm. Johnson's motives behind his voting, because they don't align with his on-record comments and reports. He has publicly addressed his concerns for his constituents who are elderly, widowed, and have lost their homes due to their inability to pay increased taxes and fees. Then, at that same meeting, he'll endorse a measure or vote to forward a measure to increase taxes. I am very disappointed in a man who says one thing and then does the opposite. He may truly care about people, but what/who influences his authority to override his commen sense, his common regard for right and wrong?

Commissioner Randy Johnson donates his county salary, presumably applying a charitable contribution to lower his federal tax liability. His presence on more than twenty boards surely must influence the decisions he makes as a county commissioner. The time required for his attendance at these other board meetings alone must somewhat interfere with his commissioner’s duties. Each board, any commissioner serves on, represent “special interest groups”, and certainly prejudice the decisions made that affect us all.

Harvard MBA~? Give me a break~!

Oh, I think we know where Randy Johnson is coming from, and the slimy characters and agenda that he works for. I for one will be much happier when folks in Washington State FINALLY realize that this disgusting "mail in vote only" travesty is the very root of our problems, because no way did the good folks on Clallam County vote for this dramatically failed politician THREE times! HA! I just don't believe that the good folks in Clallam County are that insane. I would be VERY surprised if he even won his first election without the vote (counting) being terribly rigged. I don't even know one single voter in Clallam County who is happy enough with the local government to have voted for these treasonous incumbent political mini-dictators~! Well, thanks to Jeff Tozzer reminding us of Randy Johnson's dubious history, his trail of lies and deceptions about his true Intentions as County Commissioner, and his less than honorable track record in office, I do hope that he is soon removed from office ASAP and that he never sees another day in any government position again~! The wonderful Clallam County Fair is only days away now, so as we enjoy this year's greatest community event, we ALL need to remember Randy Johnson's terroristic threats to destroy our community even further~! Yes, I see Randy Johnson's terroristic threat as the usual terroristic threat of the crooked politicians here in Clallam County to extort votes that continue to fund the local mafia in government that has time & time again proven to be corrupt beyond belief~! Let us NOT vote for these clearly failed incumbent politicians who we know have no care for the rule of law or the good folks here in our community~! We should NOT wait for these dictator terrorists to threaten us and our community again, we should IMMEDIATELY petition to have them removed from office, with any appropriate criminal and/or civil complaints against them submitted right away~! We here are willing to donate to any such civic effort to petition to remove these criminals from office, we can just about guarantee that we can personally get at least a couple of dozen local residents to happily sign the petition, and we will erect signs on our property along the busy road to help the effort to purge these Individuals from our government~! There are many great folks who deserve a chance to help our community get back to basics where "we" no longer tolerate the kind of oppression, special privilege crimes, and abuses that Randy Johnson and his coconspirators are inflicting upon all of us~! The obvious proof is that no one can make the worst decisions every single time year after year, unless he/she is doing so VERY intentionally because of their evil hidden agenda~! These criminals are very intentionally draining the public coffers, wasting the money of insane things that do more harm than good, and pushing the entire county into a financial and social disaster encouraging and even funding homeless, drug dealers & users, criminal illegal aliens, and all sorts of career criminals to destroy the social fabric of our community~! In my opinion, Clallam has lost respect for accountability.and transparency, which fosters spending driven by a smaller and small group of voices. Voices that affirm one another's goals and decisions vs disruptive voices that demand and drive hard decisions, creativity, and positive changes. I see even groups like the Economic Development Council has tremendous colorful presentations of data, but lacks KPIs and Metrics or the work they claim they're doing.

It's truely time for our elected officials to be replaced when they are no longer able to engage in creative, effective problem solving, transparency, and are no longer willing to be held accountable for their failures.

Hospital expected to hire executive

Commission to interview fourth candidate today

By Paula Hunt

Peninsula Daily News

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Medical Center board, which plans to send a non-binding letter of intent to UW Medicine to discuss a possible affiliation, likely will name an interim chief executive officer today.

The board held public virtual interviews with three candidates on Wednesday for interim CEO to replace Darryl Wolfe, who tendered his resignation on July 31.

However, when commissioners returned from an hour-long executive session to deliberate, they announced they would delay their decision until they could interview OMC Chief Physician Officer Dr. Allen Chen.

A campaign supporting Chen, who joined OMC in January, had been growing since Wolfe announced he would step down. The board hired executive search firm WittKieffer last week to help it fill the interim CEO position.

Community members, OMC providers and current and former employees urged the board to consider Chen during a 40-minute public comment period.

Speakers praised Chen’s commitment to the community, patient care and safety, responsiveness to staff and provider concerns and innovative ideas for growth that could provide a road map that would lead OMC out of its current financial and leadership challenges.

Orthopedic surgeon Dustin Larson gave the board a letter signed by physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners working in the surgery department supporting Chen as a candidate.

“We want to emphasize our unequivocal support for him and our endorsement of him to you,” Larson said, reading from the letter.

Commissioners will hold a special board meeting at 12:30 p.m. today to interview Chen at OMC’s Linkletter Hall, 939 Caroline St. The board is anticipated to vote on an interim CEO following an executive session.

While praising Chen and the care they had received at OMC, speakers during a public comment period were universally critical of the board and hospital leadership. Among their grievances were the exodus of physicians and nurses, continued financial losses, disregard for input from any employee and a lack of transparency, particularly in the recent disclosure of repeated violations found by the state Department of Health that prompted a termination notice from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services effective Aug. 15.

Earlier Wednesday, the board voted unanimously to compose a letter of intent to UW Medicine to discuss a potential partnership.

Finalizing and approving the letter could take a couple of weeks, the board said. While it is not a legal commitment, it would outline an understanding between OMC and UW Medicine about what a potential partnership might look like.

OMC began exploring the possibility of partnering with another health care system in December. UW Medicine was among 10 candidates to whom it sent nondisclosure agreements for the exchange of financial and other confidential information.

Commissioners said UW Medicine’s resources, expertise and wide and deep network of providers would be an asset to OMC and the community.

“UW Medicine has a strong reputation both in Washington and at the national level,” board president Ann Henninger said. “They respect our identity, and they share our commitment to keep care local and accessible.”

Stabilizing its finances was a primary impetus behind OMC seeking a potential partner. In her report to the board, Chief Financial Officer Lorraine Cannon said the hospital had just 26 days of cash on hand in the second quarter, down from 27 days in the first quarter.

Its $1.5 million loss in the second quarter, Cannon said, was primarily due to a $1.8 million out-of-period adjustment — an accounting error corrected in the current financial period — in contract expenses. ________
