Why is there any money allowed in campaigns when it favors those with the most money ? Which is clearly antidemocratic where is the social justice in that ? The internet is free a city website can be created so candidates platforms could be seen by all zoom meetings for debates.Instead of now where people can buy votes by using money .Which creates what we have now where people who are not center of politics where most people are ,but who have a agenda of serving not the whole but special interest .Because of that people who just want to serve the community don't run because they don't want to be part of that having big money ads against them from special interest groups attacking them . And why all these special elections not done at one time ? This ballots aren't cheap I see figures 40,000 a pop some counties how much are they costing ? Port Angeles is the 11th poorest city in the state maybe the politicians should start showing some fiscal responsibility ?

She was not bonded as required. Still may not be. Someone from Port Angeles should file an action. She is a globalist treaty breaking unregistered foreign agent.

John..."She is a globalist treaty breaking unregistered foreign agent" but her superior DNA allows and condones it. We are just tolerated "guest" and should be grateful that we can still drink their water, walk on their land and breath their air.

She is a reasonable person, but her priorities are misplaced. Too often her focus is on environmental policies and chasing grants. While those have value, the heavy bureaucracy and distraction have contributed to the community deteriorating elsewhere. The result is that she places climate resiliency above building a financially sustainable community.

Meanwhile, economic development is being neglected. Sales tax collections, wage and job growth not only lagged for more than a decade, but actually declined in 2024. Building permits for single-family homes are at a 15-year low. Fee waivers for multifamily projects, ADUs, and permit-ready plans are not delivering results.

I’ve spoken with leaders of the largest private employers in town, and most have never met her or had only minimal interaction. That lack of engagement with the very businesses that drive our economy speaks volumes about where her focus lies.

Her voting record shows she is 99% aligned with Lindsey and Navarra. Together, the three recently moved to appoint another council member, cementing their ideological majority on council. That decision reflects more loyalty to a bloc than to the broad needs of the community.

What we need instead is a council member who demands transparency, rigorous analysis, and accountability. Every decision and meeting should include a discussion of quantifiable goals. Beyond jobs and housing, we need to be addressing our schools and educational outcomes, crime and drug issues, sales tax growth, vacant and blighted properties, and the bureaucracies within City Hall. Our town is in a precarious state, and only leaders with a sense of urgency and commitment to measurable improvement can turn it around.

A person's vote should never be based on a candidate's claim or vision. With the ever-shortening attention spans of audiences, a candidate can count on being able to tapdance away from past statements.

Instead, civics classes should have taught us to investigate the actions, involvement and accomplishments of candidates.

But are schools even teaching civics?

Who would you vote for? Read the statements in the August 5, 2025 Voters’ Pamphlet. LaTrisha Suggs’ statement is centered on the rather overused reference of Tribal “time immemorial”...a claim that Tribal DNA is far superior for managing our resources. When she isn’t referencing her DNA, she talks about what she has witnessed. What are her plans? Guess.

James Taylor’s statement digs into the problems facing Clallam County and his solutions. He has a plan and a goal.

STATEMENT LaTRISHA SUGGS: “I am a Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Citizen...My ties to the community are generational. I have witnessed local changes that include logging boom/bust, racism when bumper stickers read “Save a Salmon, Kill an Indian”...My historic knowledge of the past inspires me to plan for a better future...I bring intergenerational knowledge my opponents don’t have…”

STATEMENT JAMES TAYLOR: “Building Single-family homes generates jobs, contribute to the property tax base...the city seems more focused on congratulating itself for promoting multiplexes and apartment buildings...Economic development also deserves more serious attention...substantial funding funds are being funneled to out-of-town consultants...The city’s Comprehensive Plan reflects this misalignment, offering little meaningful support for local business development or long-term economic growth...”

"I bring intergenerational knowledge my opponents don’t have…”

These kind of nonsensical claims roll off the tongues of people these days and no one calls them on it.

If people can't see the difference between her and James Taylor there's no helping them.

Dear PA voters;

“Next Tuesday all of you will go to the polls. You'll stand there in the polling place and make a decision. I think when you make that decision it might be well if you would ask yourself: Are you better off than you were four years ago?”

Political donations are no longer local or regional. Seattle residents own vacation homes here, why even couples from Texas own properties. Then consider the corporations like Safeway, Walmart, and others.

Don’t forget who runs PA’s golf course (Jamestown)

All have an active presence and interest in Port Angeles

Dale, I don't see Seattle residents nor even couples from Texas, or Safeway, Walmart or others on her donor list. Not all have an active interest in creating a county monopoly and not contributing to CC tax base.
