She is a reasonable person, but her priorities are misplaced. Too often her focus is on environmental policies and chasing grants. While those have value, the heavy bureaucracy and distraction have contributed to the community deteriorating elsewhere. The result is that she places climate resiliency above building a financially sustainable community.

Meanwhile, economic development is being neglected. Sales tax collections, wage and job growth not only lagged for more than a decade, but actually declined in 2024. Building permits for single-family homes are at a 15-year low. Fee waivers for multifamily projects, ADUs, and permit-ready plans are not delivering results.

I’ve spoken with leaders of the largest private employers in town, and most have never met her or had only minimal interaction. That lack of engagement with the very businesses that drive our economy speaks volumes about where her focus lies.

Her voting record shows she is 99% aligned with Lindsey and Navarra. Together, the three recently moved to appoint another council member, cementing their ideological majority on council. That decision reflects more loyalty to a bloc than to the broad needs of the community.

What we need instead is a council member who demands transparency, rigorous analysis, and accountability. Every decision and meeting should include a discussion of quantifiable goals. Beyond jobs and housing, we need to be addressing our schools and educational outcomes, crime and drug issues, sales tax growth, vacant and blighted properties, and the bureaucracies within City Hall. Our town is in a precarious state, and only leaders with a sense of urgency and commitment to measurable improvement can turn it around.

Why is there any money allowed in campaigns when it favors those with the most money ? Which is clearly antidemocratic where is the social justice in that ? The internet is free a city website can be created so candidates platforms could be seen by all zoom meetings for debates.Instead of now where people can buy votes by using money .Which creates what we have now where people who are not center of politics where most people are ,but who have a agenda of serving not the whole but special interest .Because of that people who just want to serve the community don't run because they don't want to be part of that having big money ads against them from special interest groups attacking them . And why all these special elections not done at one time ? This ballots aren't cheap I see figures 40,000 a pop some counties how much are they costing ? The debates, locally, are in front of a small few clubs, and on Oct 1 there is one at the Democrat HQ (6pm). All candidates for council will be there, at once. It can be zoomed. We have interviews on KONP. (The LWV decided to NOT DO another debate for any candidates in the primary because they just can't be bothered.)

The Republican HQ had an informal thing a few weeks ago...only my opponent, and James' opponent failed to show up (as did Drew's, but his opponent seems to have not showed up to ANYTHING, and may not even be in the race). I found it telling that Kate and LaTrisha couldn't be bothered.

There are really very FEW ways to get the word out.

FYI, none of these events are true "debates". You each get 2 minutes of introduction, then there is a Q&A, then you have 2 minutes of summary. The questions all have like a minute to respond. Its challenging to get any point across.

Not everyone reads Facebook…. and, it’s not “official”. The way to withdraw from a candidacy is to fill out a form on the WA Secty of State called (obviously) Withdrawal of Candidacy. Since it was AFTER the deadline, his name will appear on the ballot… and, if he gets enough votes will need to either assume office and resign, or refuse to assume office (which would make the position open to appointment by the full city council, like they just did with seat #7, when Meyer stepped down). It’s a really shitty situation.

The one thing to note, Ralph, is that for both of these unopposed positions (the other one that has Mark Hodgson running unopposed) is that YOU (or anyone) could run a campaign for WRITE-IN.

To run officially as a Write-In candidate — you file a declaration with the Auditors office (can be filed up to 8pm on election day)

People have won elections as “write-in” candidates.

So there is HOPE for Sequim City Council… too. Write-In is a powerful tool.

LaTrisha Suggs’ statement is centered on the rather overused reference of Tribal “time immemorial”...a claim that Tribal DNA is far superior for managing our resources. When she isn’t referencing her DNA, she talks about what she has witnessed. What are her plans? Guess.

James Taylor’s statement digs into the problems facing Clallam County and his solutions. He has a plan and a goal.

STATEMENT LaTRISHA SUGGS: “I am a Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Citizen...My ties to the community are generational. I have witnessed local changes that include logging boom/bust, racism when bumper stickers read “Save a Salmon, Kill an Indian”...My historic knowledge of the past inspires me to plan for a better future...I bring intergenerational knowledge my opponents don’t have…”

STATEMENT JAMES TAYLOR: “Building Single-family homes generates jobs, contribute to the property tax base...the city seems more focused on congratulating itself for promoting multiplexes and apartment buildings...Economic development also deserves more serious attention...substantial funding funds are being funneled to out-of-town consultants...The city’s Comprehensive Plan reflects this misalignment, offering little meaningful support for local business development or long-term economic growth...”

Sin is an archery term which means 'missed the mark'. It cannot be 'taken back' but only another better, more focused attempt made to 'hit the mark'.

Unfortunately it's easier to barge ahead without reflecting on the final outcomes of the actions being taken to 'save the world from people'.

The city of Port Angeles dumped their ethics rules in 2019. They were EXCELLENT, some of the best I've ever seen. The problem was that the accused violator was given expensive (and I mean EXPENSIVE) legal representation -- even though it was a quasi-judical process, the accuser did NOT have access to legal representation, and there were no real consequences other than a public shaming.

This is how governments justify dumping their ethics complaint process .. because "its too expensive". Instead of just making it like SMALL CLAIMS COURT... no one is represented, and just stand up and speak like normal human beings.

By using “climate resilience” they avoid the requirement of proving man-made CO2 caused climate change. “The climate is changing, don’t you know?” The media and the left harp constantly, and now we must obey and deal with the imaginary consequences without having to bother with that rascally cause. Sweet!

What if we can connect the push for “climate resilience” to causing homelessness, mental and physical illness, and violence way before the term “climate resilience” was coined? I can and have.

conspAIRacy.com/blog.html#homeair

conspAIRacy.com/blog.html#ashtrays

In conclusion -

I am certain we are being played by people with evil intentions. They are against nuclear while claiming we face an “existential threat” from man-made CO2 caused global warming.

The “global warming” lie and the “energy shortage” lie are the rationale and thumbscrews to force Americans to accept and endure higher exhaled CO2 in tighter poorly ventilated homes, schools, offices, etc.. Keep looking up while the real problem is in your noses, lungs, and blood. They won’t address the harm this is causing. In fact, they deny any harm and manufacture phony reasons to try to explain away the harm.

Nor will they examine whether tighter buildings are a false savings. In my piece about the evil CDC, I explain how it causes more not less energy use. (And I have more reasons now).

Perhaps the crown jewel is “peer review,” which was implemented at the same time global warming and energy lies were invented and tighter buildings were required. It is ‘prior to publication’ censorship designed to keep their lies from being exposed and you from learning the truth.

There are no “greenhouse gases” because earth is not a greenhouse. No gas makes a greenhouse warm unless it’s the propane in the heaters, otherwise it’s the greenhouse GLASS that can make a greenhouse warm. No gas has the properties of that glass, nor does the earth.

It’s the solid nature of glass and rigidity of the glass walls and roof that keeps the wind, snow, rain, etc. out while allowing light to pass through but blocking infrared radiation, IR, from escaping to the atmosphere.

The earth has no rigid walls like a greenhouse. The atmosphere expands and contracts. Wind, snow, etc. can pass through CO2 molecules in the atmosphere, even more easily when the air expands with warming.

Three bands representing about 15% of the IR spectrum are involved when talking about CO2 versus 100% for glass. It is claimed that the CO2 absorbs the IR electromagnetic radiation in the 3 bands. These are the wavelengths or frequencies at which the carbon-oxygen bonds in CO2 resonate, are excited. Excitation suggests motion. Motion is not heat. What would be the source of friction within the CO2 molecule to generate heat and radiate IR?

“Greenhouse gas” is a corruption of language, the kind the left is famous for. “Atmospheric rivers” and “King tides” are two more of late. Then there’s the old standby, “gun violence.” Again, there are no such things. They are concocted to deceive, panic, and stampede.

The earth was once super hot (estimated at 3,680 degrees Fahrenheit) and the air was mostly CO2 (all the carbon had been burned, incinerated, cremated, oxidized into CO2). If CO2 causes warming, the earth could not have cooled, ever.

The temperature portion of the laws for the solubility of a gas in a liquid tells us that warming is the cause of the rise in CO2 in the air. Anyone who has opened a carbonated beverage container has witnessed CO2 bubbles escaping as the liquid warms. Every ocean, lake, pond, river, swamp, bog, bit of moist earth has its own source of CO2, some of which will be released with warming. If CO2 really caused warming, there would be a positive feedback loop leading to catastrophe. It’s never happened before and never will. CO2 does not cause warming.

Remember “global warming” is really not about warming. It’s about slower cooling. If CO2 works as claimed, it cannot cause warming in a cooling period, and it could only boost temperatures if in a warming period.

And, if CO2 works as claimed, it seems there is an easy way to test that. Look for a change in the rate of cooling. Higher temperatures do not provide proof. However, if the difference between day time high temperatures and night time low temperatures were to decrease, that could be a strong argument supporting CO2 as an agent causing warming.

Why haven’t we seen such data? Must be it doesn’t help the cause of man-made CO2 caused “global warming.”

Spring is probably best for research as the daily variations in temperature are greatest.

It would demand a lot of data. In addition, looking at the change after one hour, two hours, etc. could be informative as it may minimize the impact of changes in the weather, a new system moving in. Avoid “heat islands” and other unnatural conditions.

Port Angeles is a non-charter code city under Washington's Optional Municipal Code (Title 35A RCW), operating with a council-manager form of government (RCW 35A.13). Under RCW 35A.13.020, bond requirements follow those in RCW 35A.12.080 for mayor-council code cities. That statute requires oaths for all officers but bonds only for specific roles like the city clerk, treasurer (if any), chief of police, and any others designated by city ordinance or charter. Councilmembers are not listed, and Port Angeles' municipal code does not designate them for bonds.

RCW 42.08 provides the general framework for official bonds across Washington but does not impose a universal requirement for all public officials, including city councilmembers. Instead, it applies where bonds are mandated by specific statutes or local rules, which is not the case here. City councilmembers must take an oath of office but no bond.
