My wife and I remained so that she could experience the scummy tactics that these clowns were using, as they had each individual and couple sit down with a so-called "representative" to attempt to pressure everyone into signing a VERY serious timeshare contract! They were NOT voluntarily giving your $50 back and at no point did they give anyone a "free vacation" anywhere, just a time sales contract, a personal credit release authorization agreement, and a demand for even more money as a "deposit"! HA! Of course, I came well experienced and prepared, so it was actually fun to very LOUDLY reject ALL of the high-pressure tactics that the representative and his clown supervisor were attempting to pull... Eventually, my wife had enough and finally realized what kind of low life scumbags are out there and how they will rip folks off, we left the presentation... A couple of weeks later we received our $50 back in the mail because "someone" filed a demand and complaint letter with the Washington State Attorney General! Me ;-) So we got our $50 back and it cost us a couple of hours of time, but from that point on my wife realized the truth about these high-pressure sales scumbags and God only knows how much time and money that has saved us in the long run~! It’s hard to take this week’s Watchdog seriously, not that I ever do, when the big scandal supposedly rocking Sequim turns out to be a property sale with one tiny detail missing…you know…the asking price. That’s like reporting a robbery without mentioning was stolen. If you don’t know what the seller wanted for the place, the whole ‘3× assessed value’ outrage is just a ghost story built on a tax number that’s been napping since the Obama administration. Downtown commercial parcels sell above their assessments all the time because assessments lag reality. That’s not corruption; that’s capitalism.

I want to be equally direct in return. When the Council held presentations about illegal camping, I was hopeful. It felt like maybe the reality that many of us are living with—crime, trespassing, property damage, and the daily erosion of safety—was finally being recognized.
But the decision that followed made it clear that those of us dealing with these issues weren’t actually being heard. The choice to pursue a sanctioned camping area and more bathrooms ignored what staff said about the destruction and constant maintenance of the two bathrooms we already have. It also overlooked 4PA’s excellent presentation, which laid out the impacts and the enforcement gaps plainly.
For those of us experiencing the consequences firsthand, it was disheartening. It felt like the conversation shifted away from public safety and toward accommodating the very behaviors that are causing harm.
I do appreciate you outlining the actions you’ve taken on Council. I know you’ve consistently supported stronger enforcement and additional police resources, and I don’t take that for granted. I also understand the limits of what Council can do with individual incidents.
My concern is that the broader policy direction keeps moving away from enforcement at the exact moment the community is asking for more of it. That disconnect is what prompted my letter, and why I asked the question so plainly.

We also received one of these scam glossy mailers for a "free dinner offer" from the Jamestown tribal scam operation, but several years ago now we decided to COMPLETELY withdraw ALL of our support and patronage of ALL of the Jamestown's subversive operations! So, they know where they can "stick" their so-called "free dinner" and may God help any sucker who believes that the Jamestown corporation cares about their health and wellbeing~! The Jamestown S'Klallam tribe is neither evil nor good; simply privileged. The tribe, whatever that may consist of, enjoys tax advantages, business advantages and opportunities, ( casinos ? ), resource harvesting privileges, grants, donations their own Government funded agency / the BIA and so much more that most citizens of this land do not. What blood quantum is legally necessary to enjoy these benefits, how is that verified and most importantly why does it matter at all ? The ancestors of our local JST would not and could not recognize the lives lived by their progeny. Foot or possibly horseback travel is now a sophisticated road system with fossil fuel powered vessels, some with hands free driving. Woven bark nets are now nylon monofilament, set and pulled with million dollar powered boats. How long would you guess a JST ancestor would take to text or send an e-mail to a friend ? Most gratifying for the JST ancestors is seeing their progeny still practicing their ancient and revered spiritual ritual of operating casinos. There likely would be no surviving JST members, if their ancestors were not able to cash retirement and social security checks at their casinos. We are friends and neighbors or we are separate nations, but we cannot be both in the same country. How much land is enough land to give to dead people ?

Blood quantum- I understand most tribes require at least 1/4 to be a member, but some allow 1/16. Of course there is Fauxcahontas who claimed Native American status, and may still today, although genetic testing revealed <1/64 NA genes.
Blood quantum rules were first implemented by the Federal government to regulate access to government benefits. Tribes can make other rules for membership.

When the Conservative City Council was voted out, we were a wealthy small city. We had a healthy rainy day fund and reserve. Just a few years later we are facing shortfalls. Now we have the Tribe purchasing prime downtown property, taking it off the tax rolls. Now they want the sales tax generated by businesses on Tribal properties.
Remember in November, you get what you vote for!
By nationwide state laws there is to be 'No unfair business practices to gain advantages over other businesses'.What a crock of shit this is because it sure does not apply to tribes that do not have to purchase license tabs for commercial equipment,they get sales tax given back to them,they get jobs-projects appointed to them without bidding,they can shut down any project if they decide it has any tribal artifacts and then claim the property or just negotiate a ransom fee to allow the project to continue ect ect ect. People that are supporting certain tribes are just supporting their own county demise.
Throw in the Lower Elwha in PA, the Quileute and Hoh tribe intrusion into Forks and you have tribal takeovers of UGA's.... instead of getting their own dot on a map, they are are taking ours.

First, I would not trust their food. Second, most of what the Tribe does is racist, yet no one prosecutes them for it. Third, all this makes me barf so much I could become bulemic.
Isn't racism like this against the law in the taxation case:
It is not legal for any level of government in the United States to charge a different tax amount solely because a person is white or of any other race.
Constitutional rule
The Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment prohibits states from denying any person “the equal protection of the laws.” Explicit racial classifications in taxation (or any other government action) are subject to strict scrutiny and are almost always unconstitutional. A tax statute, ordinance, or assessment practice that said “White persons pay X rate; non-White persons pay Y rate” would be struck down immediately. Courts have repeatedly invalidated race-based government distinctions of this kind.
Yet, the Tribe seems to get away with it.
The value of a property is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Prime commercial property in the middle of town might well be worth what the tribe paid for it. I think the bigger question is: who owned it before and why were they getting such a sweet deal on their valuation and resultant property tax burden?

The tax roll is public and you can see the valuation and legal ownership history. It can be a little tricky to find the right address for the listing, but if you can't find it under address you think it should be, search something else nearby the zoom in on the parcel map version of tax roll
It’s hard to take this week’s Watchdog seriously, not that I ever do, when the big scandal supposedly rocking Sequim turns out to be a property sale with one tiny detail missing…you know…the asking price. That’s like reporting a robbery without mentioning was stolen. If you don’t know what the seller wanted for the place, the whole ‘3× assessed value’ outrage is just a ghost story built on a tax number that’s been napping since the Obama administration. Downtown commercial parcels sell above their assessments all the time because assessments lag reality. That’s not corruption; that’s capitalism.
From there the piece starts flapping its arms at anything that moves. Routine tax structures become ominous plots. A Brazilian dance night morphs into a political psy op. Renting out a banquet room somehow graduates to a conspiracy. It’s the kind of worldview where every normal civic activity is treated like evidence of the end of days, and every shadow is assumed to be a villain.
Strip away the melodrama and you’re left with a simple truth: nothing is actually happening. No crisis, no cover up, no grand unraveling of society. Just ordinary life, misdiagnosed by someone who sees menace in a coffee shop and intrigue in a rental contract. Oversight is supposed to clarify things, not turn the town into a haunted house.
The JST has no shame, morals or conscience! Sponsoring a "complimentary dinner" concealing a snake-oil fraud scheme targeting older adults is unconscionable!
A recent expose in the AARP Bulletin reports on how casinos "hook" their customers (often senior citizens) many times resulting in the loss of their retirement savings or homes. Now, they want to take away sales tax dollars from our local governments?! Maybe CC should deprive this sovereign nation of County services. With all of their money they should be able to provide their own. My blood is boiling! I absolutely do not buy gas at the Long House, gamble at the casino, stay at the hotel or golf. My self respect & conscience won't allow it! 😡

Thank you for taking the time to respond directly. I genuinely appreciate it. It means a lot that you clarified your position, and I’m glad to hear you wouldn’t accept these kinds of incidents at your own home either. That acknowledgment matters.
I want to be equally direct in return. When the Council held presentations about illegal camping, I was hopeful. It felt like maybe the reality that many of us are living with—crime, trespassing, property damage, and the daily erosion of safety—was finally being recognized.
But the decision that followed made it clear that those of us dealing with these issues weren’t actually being heard. The choice to pursue a sanctioned camping area and more bathrooms ignored what staff said about the destruction and constant maintenance of the two bathrooms we already have. It also overlooked 4PA’s excellent presentation, which laid out the impacts and the enforcement gaps plainly.
For those of us experiencing the consequences firsthand, it was disheartening. It felt like the conversation shifted away from public safety and toward accommodating the very behaviors that are causing harm.
I do appreciate you outlining the actions you’ve taken on Council. I know you’ve consistently supported stronger enforcement and additional police resources, and I don’t take that for granted. I also understand the limits of what Council can do with individual incidents.
My concern is that the broader policy direction keeps moving away from enforcement at the exact moment the community is asking for more of it. That disconnect is what prompted my letter, and why I asked the question so plainly.

The first sentence of this article is misleading. The Riverhouse Bakery closed due to the owner’s health issues 5 months ago, not a year and a half ago.
