I would like to see Sequim emulate Sun Valley Idaho or Jackson Hole Wyoming both of which attract far more tourists than we do. I have a neighbor who spent considerable money to fish the Kings out there. I looked up what he told me and the WDFW arbitrarily made a poor decision on the take limits in that area despite having different take limits in neighboring areas (PA and Neah Bay). As a result he's out money and he said that the businesses associated with fishing were hurting as a result.

First year I’m here they kill Winter Blackmouth fishing which was my favorite fishery.
Last time I went salmon fishing 2 of us hooked 11 fish. All beautiful fish. Every one had to be released because of no clipped fin. Ridiculous. Half those fish were killed. Either wounded by the hooks or so exhausted they are easy prey.
Selling my Arima boat. (Shameless Promotion) I cannot justify the expense versus reward anymore. I’ll book a charter and save in the long term.

Agreed. This goes to my question, what has Mike done to support the businesses that are so reliant on tourism that the Commissioners themselves acknowledge as being critical to the tax base? I would like to believe that he's got a bead on this. If you've followed any of the WDFW debacles you know that their policies are intentionally killing the industries and businesses that survive on hunting and fishing. It's very predatory behavior, from a governmental agency. I want to know what Mike, or WASAC are doing about this. I believe every county in eastern Washington has come out against the WDFW and their policies. Where is Clallam County?
MK and Lawrence Martin, those are valid points. Regarding the subject of tourism I have observed that not all small towns welcome junkies. I would like to see Sequim emulate Sun Valley Idaho or Jackson Hole Wyoming both of which attract far more tourists than we do. Clallam County has an abundance of water, bicycle trails, snow, lush forests and mountains. Compassion and cultural Marxism do not attract tourists. OTOH housing prices in those areas are quite high. I enjoyed the final sentence of Mr. Martin's post "The rest is ridiculous policies on DEI and vagrants , bums and druggies". I would and would add sexual predators to the list.

I have heard a local business owner speak about the seasons at the meetings but not what your referring too. The area definitely relies on the fishing industry a lot.

I have a neighbor who spent considerable money to fish the Kings out there. I looked up what he told me and the WDFW arbitrarily made a poor decision on the take limits in that area despite having different take limits in neighboring areas (PA and Neah Bay). As a result he's out money and he said that the businesses associated with fishing were hurting as a result.
Maybe it doesn't matter really what the reason is, but overall my interest is your understanding what Mike is doing to help the businesses deal with the negative affects on their businesses.
In our discussions at the forum last night one business owner defended the Lodging Tax grants and stated her business was up. Sorry your friend got caught in the crosshairs. At our next community meeting I will bring up your question.

Through an NGO screening process to apply a "restorative justice' filter which has been ruled unconstitutional but is continued anyway in Washington State. That is why they don't take certain federal grants and always have to go after property owners for money to employ their restorative justice. Hiring trans, people of color is a written priority. I'm glad you have a positive experience to write. Revitalizing the Clallam Bay Visitor Center is important to tourism and building websites builds tourism. My criticism is not on these two items, but if that is all he has done in 4 years, don't you think that he's slow-walking progress deliberately? Relying too heavily on temporary grant money won't sustain a community now or in the future.

The Lodging Tax grant is from our local economy not federal money. The better our businesses are doing the more support we receive. So our website supports local businesses big time. I see it as a win for all.
So, all Mr. French does is use grant money to prop up the west end. LOL.
What happens when the grant money runs out? Has a stable private sector economy been built up to replace the reliance on grants? If not, then all Mr. French is doing is creating a grant-dependent economy, meaning the people are relying on grants, meaning the people are relying on government, and government relies on taxpayers to fund the grants the west end is relying on. That is not independence, that is not even an American value. That is setting people up for failure; that is what Mr. French is doing.
It’s nice Mr. French is helping, but I wonder why can’t individuals make those things happen on their own? Why do individuals rely so much on government to hold meetings and improve their facilities. If it’s a public facility, it belongs to the people. It makes no sense that the people can’t make something happen on their own without permission from government to do it. That is a sad statement on the people more than anything.

The idea of "accountability for public funds" is a just the earliest part of the coming wave, the public's recognition that our federal, state and local indebtedness is adding up and has to change. The era(s) of big spending are coming to a close.

What’s funny though is how the sheriff states “ At this time, he does not wish to be a victim.” Meaning Jake. So, what does it say of Jim Stoffer who relies on security when someone raises their voice to him? Sounds like a victim to me. LOL.

I am glad you mentioned the defense mechanism called projection. During the No Kings protests I detect another defense mechanism. It is called reaction formation. A king is a figure of authority and is reviled because of it yet these same people want censorship. In addition they wanted others arrested for not wearing the slave mask or refusing the magic injection.

There are two American Constitutionalists here, and we by oath are not even allowed to vote for Mike French, because he wouldn't know The American Constitution if it slammed him in the head~! We would literally be violating our oaths if we voted for Mike French under any circumstances~! Jake Seegers, however, has well demonstrated that he is FAR more "Constitutionally correct" for quite some time now, so we are obliged to vote for him~! Once you know, understand, and work hard to live The American Constitution guidelines, voting actually becomes a LOT easier to do... Those who violate The American Constitution actually stick out like sore thumbs, even when they attempt to lie and deceive folks into believing that they are law abiding Americans...
