Departmental Budget Meetings with Commissioners - October 15, 2026: Timestamp 11:27:00 to 2:12:00 https://clallamcowa.portal.civicclerk.com/event/5237/media

Hi everyone,

I recently listened to the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Department budget hearing ([Timestamp 11:27:00 to 2:12:00](https://clallamcowa.portal.civicclerk.com/event/5237/media)), and it left me with serious concerns that I want to open up for discussion.

The department made it clear that they need more resources—whether through FTEs or outside contracting on retainers—to keep criminal and civil cases moving through our local justice system. However, the hearing raised a bigger question for me: Is this purely a lack of resources, or are we looking at a leadership and management challenge?

For instance, Elected Prosecutor Mark Nichols stated that he had long ago decided not to burn out his staff. There was also a significant discussion led by the financial team and Administrator Mielke, emphasizing the need to document time accurately and pointing to a countywide departmental issue.

I’m eager to hear other CC Watchdog readers' opinions on what you are hearing and how this should be handled during the budget process. This directly impacts goals we’ve all been vocal about, such as getting visual blight cleaned up in our communities. Even when blight issues don't go all the way to a hearing, every sheriff’s officer report still needs to be screened by the prosecuting department.

At the same time, I noticed hesitation from the commissioners during the hearing. Where is that hesitation coming from, especially when they want to address public concerns and public comment about community standards?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how we navigate this balance and what the best approach is moving forward.

If health is our greatest wealth, then why are so many government officials SO health impoverished?!

It's been a lifelong study for me to do the best I can to enjoy and promote natural health, so that we can keep our God-given temples well, and help others follow a practical course to avoid what may be the unnecessary hazards of doing otherwise.

Though the many substances that impair sound judgement might FEEL good for a while, they ultimately FAIL to keep us healthy.

Whenever better nourishment is invested in: real health is more consistently enjoyed!

A health officer, by government standards; often has few options that promote the wellbeing we all hope to enjoy.

Instead, they are often confined to what lobbyists expect their paid politicians to endorse.

Dr Berry, there may be a cure for cranial rectal inversion that you might help others with, but: Physician heal thyself, first!

Dr. Berry is scary! I can’t imagine what this person has in her closet that hasn’t been exposed by Jeff and CCWDs article. It will be interesting to see how the libs on this subject will be silent. I wonder on this Sunday which church she will condemn?
