UNLESS WE STAND FOR SOMETHING, WE SHALL FALL FOR ANYTHING!

At the start of legislative sessions in the U.S. Senate a daily prayer is typically offered by the Senate Chaplain. On April 18, 1947 Chaplain Peter Marshall spoke the following words:

Our Father, we yearn for a better understanding of spiritual things, that we may know surely what Thy will is for us and for our Nation. Give to us clear vision that we may know where to stand and what to stand for—because unless we stand for something, we shall fall for anything...For Jesus' sake. Amen.

My Hubby and I went to Aloha Smoothies in PA before the Sequim debate to show support for their support of Jake's campaign with a SEEGERS Sign in the store window. To be honest, I don't know if we would have ever made that extra effort unless we had heard about their struggles as a business through CCWatchdog and Clallamity Jen's platforms. I want to support businesses that are willing to make a stand. It's one thing not to know where you stand; it's another to intentionally not. Take the time to educate yourself and then decide, at the very least, VOTE!

The irony is that the very reason this anonymous business doesn't want to be associated with a campaign is the very reason it should. I am sad to see the state of our county, see something, say something, or you are complicit in the very wrongs you stay silent about.

We all know there’s big money in drugs. The whole point of harm reduction, Suboxone, and methadone programs is to addict drug users to drugs controlled by American cartels instead of Mexican cartels. American cartels are made up of pharmaceutical corporations, NGO’s, and government. Clallam county health department is the low level street dealer in this cartel. They will defend their turf at all costs. They get big $ to do so.

CAS's avatar

Absolutely, well said, thank you.

CAS's avatar

Thank you, Jeff and Jake, for actually having an honest discussion about harm reduction again — something we rarely if ever get from this county or the state. As you both pointed out, the “numbers” can be manipulated any way they want. Most people will never dig deep enough, statistically to see that they themselves are being manipulated by the “leaders” what is really going on, and the county knows that. They present only the numbers that support their narrative and ignore everything else.

And let’s not forget the money coming into this county and the NGOs. It can get complicated trying to follow the money, but imperative that we do. More into the administration of a program including salary and benefits than trying to help the people getiing off drugs. Ozias has said it is not profitable to have inpatient treatment centers. He also stated that he has had discussions about this, why do we not year about that in his updates weekly. There is no intention in doing that here in this county from what I see.

I am exhausted listening to this county and state brag about the “success” of harm reduction when the truth is far more complicated. Jake is absolutely right: there are not enough real numbers, not enough full context, and certainly not enough transparency. Health officials cherry-pick whatever makes them look good and shut down anyone who challenges them.

And let’s talk about the people who have spoken before this board — first responders, recovering addicts, people who have been clean for years, people who have lived through the worst of addiction and come out the other side. These are the voices that should matter most. Yet the commissioners and health department ignore them. They sit there with closed minds, unwilling to hear anything that doesn’t fit their predetermined agenda.

Many people in this county believe because our health director is a Dr take her word as gospel. And she is not willing — nor are the commissioners — to face facts or statistics that contradict their talking points. It is disgusting to watch their reactions when residents bring forward real data and real experiences. We are snickered at, dismissed, and treated like we don’t matter. They do not represent the people of this county.

We are at a serious point right now. Our county is circling the drain, and if we do not change leadership, it will get worse. You think it’s bad now — just wait. This upcoming election is critical. It is imperative that we talk to our neighbors, our friends, our families. Get the vote out. Explain what is at stake. Because if we don’t, we will be stuck with the same closed-minded leadership that refuses to listen, refuses to adapt, and refuses to represent us and will only get worse.

Jake is a better man than me. Had someone done that to me I would have bought all his hats he had and passed them out at the CCWD booth free. This owner limited free speech at the cost of a hat. What has CC come to? The left continues the dumbing down of America. Go Jake !

I agree with Jed, but this situation also shows how Jake stays diplomatic in situations, he didn’t argue, he didn’t post this companies name and plaster disrespect about the business, I think this shows how well Jake can work with both sides with respect. Back in the day and I’m old, especially when my father also was in politics, this is how both sides worked together to accomplish something for the people.

jedjennings50's avatar

Jake handled it well. Thats why I am not in the political arena I am not PC. That way I can say what I think and dont have to please the leftist commies of CC. I will let Jake be diplomatic for me.

I'm glad that you said this. I'm not interested in stooping to the behaviors of those I decry. It proves nothing, promotes resistance to finding common ground, and it's a waste of my energy which I could put to supporting Jake.

I don't care which business this is. I can only control myself and just be nice. There's no better antidote.

Jeff, I don’t get this statement:

“about 12,000 harm-reduction encounters, and only 27 inpatient assessments, or about 0.2%.”

It says 12,000 harm-reduction encounters, but not how many INDIVIDUAL people were served. Wouldn’t that be the number to logically compare with “27 inpatient assessments”?

Or was it 12,000 different individuals who have been served?!!!

(That word ‘served’ being used lightly because I don’t believe they ARE actually helped.)

Jeff Tozzer's avatar

I don’t think the County is counting unique individuals—only “customers” walking through the door. There’s no way to know whether eight visits means one person eight times or eight different people. In my view, they have little reason to track unique people, because the larger number supports the impression that 12,000 people need their services (more grants and funding!). That works until they have to report how many of those people were actually assessed.

CAS's avatar

Exactly, these numbers are easily manipulated to shine the brighest light on what they do, just dig a bit deeper and you find the real truth.....

Denise Lapio's avatar

I always have questions about statics and line items and categories. They never show the whole picture.

Jeff and Jake, great conversation today! I enjoyed hearing about the fair and meeting regular people who want our county to succeed and be a welcoming home to all. Great debate, Jake. Jake, I recognize that your affinity for the smile and eye contact is because that's your secret sauce. It's warm, and genuine.

Add to your quotient of respect for women, open and close their car door as well. It's your role as their protector.

Why it is that Mike wholesale accepts what he's told by Dr. 🫐 is what's so hard to understand. He's being lazy or gullible, and I don't like either one.

Blowing the doors off of this ridiculous study that's parroted is the logical challenge to the words the non-thinking leaders. Worse yet, you had to call Mike French out for laughing at your challenge when he himself has no way to refute it. I think that his laugh is his nervousness over being made a fool of. He should be pissed at 🫐 and himself.

Kristin's avatar

That just killed me when realizing French is so entrenched in his stance he will not even check FACTS.

Plus super super scary for addicts since he would rather see them fall deeper and deeper into addiction.

None of it is healthy for our county. When do we start running our county as a county, and not a support mechanism for national and global matters?

Kristin's avatar

It really bugs the poop out of me that the "harm reduction" does not use their biggest selling point. They don't even have a clue.

How many folks have gotten clean and become functioning productive tax paying citizens again. If they would give this information correctly they would have so many grateful folks from families and friends of addicts and actual law abiding citizens.

Give us the INFORMATION.

Sorry, this is a long comment...

Thankfully, I think that labeling things/people as "Misinformation" (as a tool of control) shows waning efficacy because so many people have been abused by it and refuse to be cowed by the intended stigma.

It helps that lots of FOIA info is coming out that reveals what federal Public Health knew vs. what they covered up vs. their public messaging during the pandemic. Unfortunately, the media is largely not covering it so Public Health is still ducking accountability. How long will that work, though?

Here's a old set of FOIA's that's relevant to some of this podcast. WA Public Health knew about vaccine failure at least by July 2021, predating Clallam county's restaurant vax pass and also predating the tragic death of a King county mom from an adverse reaction (because it was mandated for volunteering at school).

https://www.thecentersquare.com/washington/article_229643ae-8bcb-11ed-ace4-37629989c8f7.html)

One can hope that people do the best they can with what they know at the time, but WA state's Public Health apparatus knew things in the summer of 2021 that didn't translate into their policies. These policies were not neutral-- they divided communities, broke relationships, closed businesses, were driven by fear and inaccuracy, and resulted in deaths and life-altering harm.

WA Public Health knew of the life-threatening adverse reaction of my husband's teaching colleague in March of 2021. That didn't translate into policy --or mercy-- either.

We were labeled as "misinformation" for speaking the truth.

I've met people locally who have neurological side effects from the C19 injections, similar to the life-altering complications that NIH briefly studied before shutting down research and treatment. Through my volunteering w/ React19, I also know some of the people who were in that NIH study.

Federal Public Health leaders shut down that research even though it was clear that early treatment was essential for better patient outcomes. They shut it down because they decided that acknowledging these side effects might cause hesitancy. They censored the injured and bereaved for the same reason: if others knew of these tragedies, they might decline the shots.

The last figure that I saw for the govt-funded research and treatment investment into Long Covid was $2.5 billion. Companion funding for research and treatment of Americans who are suffering from covid vaccine complications sits at $0.

There has been a concerted effort on all levels of Public Health (from DC to the states to local offices) to brand the injured, the bereaved, and anyone who speaks up for them as "misinformation".

It is an ugly tactic used to do a horrific thing.

We all have the choice to look away or to help.

In 5+ years of attempting to engage w/ our local leaders, I've had exactly one potentially fruitful conversation with someone connected to Public Health and that occurred just last week. It only happened because of a past Calico Cat town hall when I pushed for a route to be heard after being ignored for so long.

When the only way to ensure compliance is to censor, stigmatize, and ignore tragedies, something has gone terribly, terribly wrong.

If accountability doesn't happen, innocent people suffer while the same leaders keep doing the same things in other areas.

Case in point: the current harm reduction approach feels very much like a parallel playbook, leaning into the claim of "expertise" and "settled science" while casting the "collateral damage" as "misinformation".

As we all know, some of the same people sit on the pool board. Instead of ending an unnecessarily duplicative, rogue policy enacted by an employee to hand out shower vouchers at harm reduction centers (that was never approved by the board and was enacted w/o informed consent of patrons), they recently codified it despite public outcry.

Back to the podcast-- like the couple who approached Jake in the parking lot, my family is seriously discussing leaving our home of 20+ years because it's rapidly become unlivable, unsafe, and unaffordable. For speaking the truth, we've paid a high cost and there are painful reminders everywhere we go. We believe in redemption, though, and are still here working towards healing our community.

Nothing will change if lots of people don't speak up. So speak up.

Respectfully.

Relentlessly.

When I discovered in June of 2020 that Dr. Fauci was highly involved in AIDS/HIV research, I immediately knew this COVID-19 "epidemic" was hyped to hysterical levels and it would be used to control the populations into gov't submissions for as long as he liked. A very evil creature.

Jake and Jeff keep pitching themselves as Clallam County’s last bastions of reason and civility, unfortunately it’s contradicted by literally everything they do. Take the hat fiasco. Their prized parable of local oppression. In reality, it was just a shop owner saying, in the politest Northwest way possible, “Please don’t drag my business into your freaking circus.”

Jake treated this like a constitutional crisis. He had the nerve to lecture the poor employee about First Amendment rights he didn’t actually have, because, and small detail here, the First Amendment doesn’t force private businesses to host your campaign. The business has its own right NOT to be drafted into the Watchdog militia. Jake’s big “compromise,” ripping the patch off the hat, wasn’t a moment of statesmanlike restraint. It was pure political theater. The kind where the actor imagines he’s delivering Gettysburg but looks more like a man arguing with his own reflection in an abandoned shop window.

Then there’s the Hagan study, which Jake swings at like a man trying to swat a mosquito with a canoe paddle. He calls the data “false” and “disingenuous,” but the study itself contradicts him line by line. The “five times more likely” statistic? Real. The sample size? Over 500 people. The outcomes? Explicitly defined. Jake’s critique isn’t reason, it’s goalpost shifting with a side of righteous indignation, the kind of thing you do when you hope nobody actually reads the footnotes.

Put together, the hat and the study expose the same flaw: Jake and Jeff aren’t practicing reason and civility. They’re performing it. Narrating themselves as the “grown ups” in the room while throwing tantrums at every minor inconvenience like they’ve been personally wronged by the universe. They never ask themselves the real hard questions: Why is our brand perceived as hostile? Why do we misrepresent the evidence? Why do we treat simple disagreement as persecution?

Spoiler…it’s because introspection doesn’t fit the fictitious heroic storyline you have written for yourselves.

The hat didn’t reveal a county afraid to speak. It revealed a campaign, afraid to look in the mirror.

Great job, Patriots Jeff Tozzer and Jake Seegers~!

The County Fair was awesome as usual this year, and it was good to chat with Jake Seegers for a few minutes. Sorry we missed your smiling face Jeff Tozzer, but perhaps next time! Obviously, all that the dramatically failed commissioner Mike French could apparently do when confronted with the REAL statistics on the horrid "Harm Reduction" con game was to supposedly "laugh"~! Wow! You REALLY have to be a special kind of nasty, evil scumbag to laugh at any government program that has less than a 1% proven success rate, especially one that has resulted in such a HUGE financial and ugly dangerous physical cost to the entire community~! Great job Mike French, you will find that we here in Clallam County have a FAR better memory of your long list of failures and horrific statements than you think! I wonder how many more feathers Mike French will stuff into his bed, before the angry folks of Clallam County need to order hot tar, pitch forks, and torches~! The time for these lying thieving criminals who weasel their way into our government is coming to an end and the sooner the better~! Hang in there Jake Seegers, because once we vote you into office, we shall be replacing the others in this current local criminal cabal, with good and honest folks to help you correct the course of our community for the better~!!!

Sincerely, Mike
