Jeff, after reading this, I am so sorry that you have to endure this kind of blatant attacks on your character just because you want to publish a different narrative that no other publication will. I have read the comments calling you a racist. We absolutely think you are NOT anywhere close to being a racist. It seems as though that is the catch all phrase for a far left political person to "Go To" if all else fails. Our family completely supports your NON BIASED FACT FINDINGS.....and of course yourself. Please keep up the great work as we will continue to support you in anyway we can. Always your friends.

David, I feel there's even more to it.

Church attacks? IMO it creeps into Jeff’s substack at times. Appropriate? Sure, if you can see through it.

In Jeff’s article “Dangerous kindness What "helping" has really brought us” There were a series of long threads between myself and other subscribers which lasted way beyond its expiration (I admit I fed it too)

It started out with Powdermonkey (and its boring AI dissertation) then Sequim Native jumped in, then Morgan Fairbanks, then Mattew made his debut. Anyways, it took me a long time to realize their comments seemed like “sermonizations”. Finally it came together for me when Rita jumped in at the end with her final comment. I always thought a church was a place of peace. ; )

Rita

Amen Mathew. Most of these people call themselves Christian but would deport Christ if he came back today as an “illegal” immigrant. All these people are just sad and hurt and don’t know how to turn to compassion and love. We should both be praying for them 😉

Jennifer

Rita, please don't pray for me, I'm fine thankyouverymuch

Jennifer

Thank you Rita, I think I've made the connection between Powdermonkey and Mattew. It is a religious thing. Do you all belong to the same church? I don't need soul saving or religious lectures.

Jesus' 'church' got a little rasty in the end, wouldn't you say?😊

We all have a religion, as the word means to re-bind, and we all re-bind ourselves to something every day we are here.

We bind to our own set of beliefs, our families (for better or worse), our jobs (for better or worse) and our views on whether or not we are eternal, worthy, etc.

This IS a free-will zone where we (hopefully) learn about ourselves and how we create or co-create our 'reality' (for better or worse).

Most of us don't like to be preached at and that's ok...I both do it and sometimes don't like to be 'done at', but I strive to remain open to possibilities that I don't understand while using intuition and discernment to come to know 'my truth' in relation to The Truth.

We all have a 'religion' and we get to choose what that looks like but we don't get to choose if we have one.

The religion of many of our 'office holders' is a dark and sneaky, undermining religion of power, control and greed!

The usual model of 'success' in this world!😎

Robert, thank you for your comment. Religion is a "tip toe" topic at best. I did not intend my reply to be "rasty". But I do truly love your honest opinions.. Always have and always will. : ) Plus man, you do make me laugh out loud when I most need it!

I was just playing with the idea that 'religion' does have a bad rap, for a good reason... and that even the loving, healing Christ 'went off' on the corrupt businesses in the temple...selling and slaughtering animals and usurious money exchange and all kinds of 'blasphemey' things...it was, in fact, that disruption in the 'commercial' structure that was the final straw for the pharisees, etc. and caused them to finally get rid of him for good!

I am a card carrying (just a piece of paper in my wallet, really) heretic and apostate in the eyes of the dogma of 'the church'.

I question ALL dogma and doctrine and have abandoned the 'normie' churches altogether...Renee and I study all sorts of metaphysical, psycho-spiritual works of higher learning based on what we call Christ Consciousness...normies would call it New Age but most of it is ancient and has been suppressed or lost and found...the kind of potentially self-empowering stuff that mainstream doesn't want people to know about.

It's a hell of a lot more interesting than the pap we get from 'the controllers' and challenges us every day, in a good way.

So my references to 'religiousy' things is hopefully not landing dogmatically but when I 'put things out there' and get feedback I find it helps me clarify my own distorted 'reality'!

Paul Wallis on YT has an interesting background and 'take' on the ancient history of the OT...even the 'non-religious' might be interested in what he has to say... and a compatriot of his, Mauro Biglino from Italy, also has a very similar way of looking at the B.S. most of us were told about the beginnings of humanity, etc.!

Thanks for the compliment and I'm glad my humor reaches some, some of the time...it takes a lot of years to make cynicism and sarcasm funny!😄

Well Jeff, I can tell this was a deeply personal article to write. Kudos to you for sharing. I don't know Pat Johnston, but I find myself diametrically opposed to her viewpoint. CCWD not only uplifts and builds me but gives me hope that good people are finally paying attention to the degradation of our institutions, culture, and county.

I had a heart to heart with my daughter the other day and my advice was "keep plugging along". Keep doing the right thing and eventually you will be surrounded by people that are on your level. That's what CCWD is doing, creating a place where like minds can meet on the level. You're making a difference!

I appreciate that you are telling the truth of the Jeff we know. I don't know what's in the heart of the person who saw to it that Jeff was removed from the program, but that the church disregarded evidence to arrive at a rational decision is incredibly sad. There are people who have one less person to support such a critical need. When Jeff wrote his article about the good they do I thought that volunteering there might be a good idea, but not if I have to be around a control freak and an organization that has lost their values. What a loss for the program.

Expand full comment
Jeff Tozzer's avatar

It's a little confusing.

That article was about "Friend's Place," which was just starting a program modeled after "Tim's Place." Friend's Place (the new one) is growing, thriving, and led by wonderful volunteers. Tim's Place (the first one, where I had the incident with Jim Stoffer) sadly ended its program just a few weeks ago.

The community lost something really special, but a new and excellent program has grown in its absence.

You nailed it Rhonda! In the two years I have been attending Tim's place not once can I recall Jeff being any of the things these idiots claim he is or has done. Jim Stoffer is a proven liar on several levels obvious to anyone with the IQ of a potato! Stoffer should resign from the church board in shame at the very least. How can a congregation put their faith in the hands of a proven liar? Time will tell and we all know there's a special place in hell waiting for such people. Thank you Jeff for all you have done for everyone at Tim's place, and we are looking forward to your continued coverage of all things in our community that our local press is to biased to cover. God Bless!

Jeff, all important movements begin with a single voice, often spoken alone with great peril for the speaker. For a legacy member of the community with deep family and personal roots, your love for Clallam County shines like the proverbial beacon in the night. It's obvious for those who faithfully read CCWD your mission is not one of amassing personal power or wealth, but to simply make your community better. What is occurring in Clallam County politically is not unique. Never, ever assume that simply because someone holds an elected position or is an important cog in a NGO that they are inherently intelligent or that they have the community's best interests at heart. If they were and did they would welcome open debate and scrutiny and not resort to backdoor slandering. What you are doing, without compensation, is important. Thank you!

I am again reminded that gatherings of people whether in a church group or political group are constantly seeking to condemn or dismiss those that agree with or those that question. Change is a threat to those who do not question, to those who do not understand all of the issues involved in a decision. In my life I have found many Christian’s who have been the smallest minded people who complicate their own lives and those around them with rules that take away from the message that they are banded together for. Shunning, gossiping and destroying others is so unnecessary and unproductive. I have also been most fortunate to have met many people who are forgiving, accepting, giving, honest and put their back into being a better person.

I appreciate All the work and research that you do, all the time you spend finding out what is going on behind the scenes so that the rest of us can be informed. I cannot believe that the elected officials do not feel grateful to you for bringing important issues that affect us all to the foreground so that we can weigh in and make our voice’s heard. We elect people so that they can represent US! Thank you for your efforts. Thank you for keeping us informed.

The dark forces will always subvert, invert and pervert anything that threatens with 'the light'.

Every institution (made up of individuals) has been, is, or is becoming corrupted.

This is the way of the world and all the wars and all the politics has only made things worse.

We need supernatural help... or nothing will change...but we have to humble ourselves and ask for it...the 'other' side is asking for their form of help, and getting it...so must we if we want good change...it's HARD to do...ego and conditioning are powerful things to overcome or tame. Speaking truth, even when not popular, is a start and there IS That on CCWD! Thanks for participating!😎

This Jim guy from your church, so reminds me of my childhood adventures with my best friend and the Baptist church. Candy, gum, whispering, toe tapping, singing off-key, hymnal books, etc. There was a group of ladies who stood as the eyes and ears of the congregation, that gossiped constantly and slew the poo all in the name of “our church”. I think back. It was all about power. “Don’t you know who I am?” Yes, I know, petty. Every church, club, social gathering, school, commission has them. The people that want the “power”. In the end, they are all God’s people. Just a simple “amen” response will work.

I agree and yet feel very unsettled about the vote being true; the history proves that it

is not as the rest of the country is having the same problem in key areas. I believe that

if we had honest voting, no spins and truth tellers, things would change fast. Although

it is possible, I don't see much probability at this point. Jeff is a gem, setting an example for the rest of us who can support him.

I used to detest outsiders coming in to my town. In recent years I’ve been learning to embrace it as there’s a lot of good people that move here & help bring out the best in our little community. But when I hear someone like Jim Stoffer has swooped in, blatantly spewing lies about one of my own, homegrown Sequimites- HOUSTON, we have a serious problem. This article has me in tears. THIS IS WRONG PEOPLE. Jim Stoffer only exists to serve as a bad example. I was born here just like Jeff was born here. This is our town. This is the place that built us. Ask anyone if they think they’re a good person & they’ll tell you yes they are. But good people don’t go around destroying other people just because they don’t agree w/ them. Facts.

It is especially disappointing when there is a lack of integrity in government and church leadership. Thank goodness for you discussing the issues because the local newspapers singular public relations approach to news fails to do so. It is great to feature volunteers and new businesses, but that is not their most important mission. Their most important function is to provide analysis and opinion to develop an informed citizenry able to make sound decisions and holding officials accountable. No wonder the paper is looking for donations to stay afloat.

My Mom left 'the church' when she was 18 because of embezzlement and infidelity amongst the 'good christian folk'...at 90 she doesn't believe in anything...except her meds...😅 I left at 12 because of hypocrisy and the shaming...say la vie...but there is goodness and truth in 'The Law' which holds, no matter how far we stray from 'It'!

It's 'by their fruits ye shall know them' and unfortunately a LOT of sociopaths hide behind 'authority', which we have been conditioned to trust and obey without question...that doesn't seem to be working as well as it used to, thankfully.😊
