@JeffTozzer, I am thankful for my @CCWatchDog workout time this morning, before indulging in my homemade cinnamon rolls, bacon, and coffee, just the start to a day of guilt-free gluttony! Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone. NO promises for Story Time Saturdays with Dr. Sarah. I am excited about the dialogue that reading this book provides an opportunity for.

Happy Thanksgiving Jeff and his people.

Do you think that 120 bucks includes a tube of Reparation H.

Last year, I forgot to take the tube out and baked the turkey with the Reparation H still in it -- I won't make that mistake again!

Jeff what type of tube is inserted into a turkey? I have been consuming Swanson Turkey TV dinners since I was a student in elementary school and never discovered a tube filled with an artificial ingredient.

Ha, I'm a poser because I don't even cook. I don't think my house even has a kitchen (at least, I've never been in it... I hear it's somewhere past the dining room).

There's no room on my plate of turkey today for a helping of Clallam County 🐂💩

Happy Thanksgiving all.

P.S. the articles, on point. How can anyone find this to be acceptable?

Happy Thanksgiving. So glad the natives shared turkey with the pilgrims. Just think if the main course was Groundhogs or Cougars. So that’s my deep Thanksgiving thought! You’re welcome, Gobble, Gobble!

And the Pilgrims repaid with a healthy dose of self-righteousness and holier-than-thou-ness! Those White Folks, eh?🤣. Maybe it's time for more 'witch trials'?🤣

Great organized article. About the safepark program... i asked a committee person about the Park, since it is out back of the church, behind a roped off passage. What are the total plans of the parking area as projected to need $100,000? Answer: to pave it. So its cleaner. The TUMC facility is completely surrounded by paved parking area. Could they not have roped off a 5-car section and saved $50000? Ps: the CC granted the Sequim Warming Center, that operates out of a rented church basement, and serves up to 35 people (room limit) from freezing temps, only $22500 for 2 year grant. That amount seriosly limits the number of hours, monitors, and open times for Cold Ones who need warmth (they only open at 36 deg. For 10 hrs). I guess church membership helps get huge grants. Just asking, not complaining, just dont understand.

From Aug. 4 PDN article, seems like OlyCap is also getting a hearty slice of safe parking grift pie(on call staff night hours):

SEQUIM — Trinity United Methodist Church will soon kick off its Safe Parking Program, an initiative to provide those living in their vehicles a secure place to sleep at night.

The program, with help from local organizations, will get underway sometime this month, said Joe Cress, a member of Trinity UMC who heads the steering committee.

The city of Sequim announced it would start last Friday, but a staffing technicality has led to a short delay, Cress said.

“Right now, there is no safe parking place anywhere in Sequim (for the homeless),” Cress said. “(Those living in their vehicle) unfortunately spend a lot of their day trying to figure out where they can sleep at night and not get hassled.”

Three parking spaces will be available for use by clients referred by Peninsula Behavioral Health, Serenity House, REdisCOVERY/Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic and Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP). Good Man Sanitation will provide a Sanican and a portable washing station. Although no showers will be available, guests will be able to wash their faces and hands.

There will be a shed on site containing items such as blankets, fire extinguishers, Narcan (an over-the-counter medication that treats opioid overdose), first aid supplies and tools for jump-starting vehicles.

Eventually, there will be five parking spaces designated for the program, but first, the church must pave an area adjacent to its property — work that will likely be completed sometime this fall, Cress said.

The church, located at 100 N. Blake Ave., has contracted with OlyCAP for staffing the program. Each day, a volunteer host and an OlyCAP staffer will be on site from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to greet guests and determine any needs, and again from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Guests are to depart by 8 a.m.

Cress said an OlyCAP staffer will be on call during the night and can be on site within 10 minutes.

It would be a joke...but it's not funny!

How about that money comes off the top if the Kommissars salaries?😎

MK's avatar

Again, you're onto the crux of the matter wrt to the BOCCC. $100K is a lot of money to have not required a site visit, a plan from the church, nor requirement to report back the uses of the funds.

I've said it before, if a decision is made to spend money, require it to be spent with an efficiency that maximizes the intended use. PBH could serve so many more people than a handful, but they aren't going to. What's the result going to be? They'll be back wanting more. The cycle of tax payer dollars inefficient use needs a critical eye.

Insanity is apparently a virus, contracted in universities around the world...not everyone is susceptible, thankfully.

Glen Morgan (We The Governed) said these people don't care about outcomes, only processes, so budgets and common sense aren't needed...only other peoples' money.

Guess how that all ends.😎

I can always tell a child who is homeschooled because they do look you in the eye and can communicate. But please don’t ask children to shy away from using good manners. my grandsons say ma’am, sir, thank you, you’re welcome. and please. They hold the door open for people but sometimes even that’s not taken well. I being respectful starts with those small things.

When I lived in Montana, it never stopped amazing me to see how many people held doors open for others; men for men, women for women, kids did it too; it was just what people did, and I followed suit because to me that’s just what you do. That was always the way to tell a tourist from another state, usually a big city — they didn’t hold the door or acknowledge the person holding it for them. It was a fascinating study in observing human behavior.

I’m deeply grateful to have found Clallam County Watchdog.

Without it, I doubt I ever would have seen, much less imagined, just how far some of our elected officials were willing to wander from the people they were sworn to protect. It was a cold realization… but it lit a fire that hasn’t gone out.

Since then, the growth of the Watchdog community has been remarkable. Citizens now have a place to speak plainly, compare facts, and, after doing their own research, help educate the rest of us. That clarity has consequences: new voices rising, new writers launching their own columns, new candidates stepping forward, and new groups forming to protect what matters in Clallam County.

The heartbeat of this county is stronger than ever. People are awake, informed, and no longer willing to be dismissed.

Truth has a way of gathering people who refuse to be fooled twice!
