Pickett's sudden pivot on the water steward position to not have it be on a ballot but rather a direct referral to the BOCCC was all that I needed to see to know that the results were being taken seriously by the CRC factions.
The manufactured opposition to those results supports those factions to disregard the voters when they know full well what the voters want/think.
Having listened to commissioner Richards for long enough I'm waiting for him to weigh in on how the Commission has an obligation to take the results seriously and that under the current environment is headed the wrong way. If anyone can bring color to this it is he.
Jim Stoffer assured the 2nd Town Hall attendees that if the public wanted or not wanted a water steward from the results of the survey, then that's what the CRC would abide by. I was genuinely confused when I listened to the meeting where the results were discussed. Not only were the results dismissed as being nothing more than just information, they were also dismissed as being essentially "rigged" due to the lack of security around the survey. I went back and listen to previous meetings were the survey was being discussed and indeed heard similar language being used by the creators that it was not demonstrative of what the people actually want (my words) that it was just information. I thought to myself what's the point then? Or if it was just information in the context of all of the comments and letters the CRC had received, then how was the CRC collating all of those results, information?
When commissioner Morris was discussing the survey she clearly went over the security of it. Not a single commissioner questioned her about it at that point. Then when the results came out suddenly it was a bad survey because of some security concerns. It was like watching a criminal trial where evidence is attacked in order to show that it cannot be trusted, whether oral or physical.
What I'm left with is an immense distrust in a group of people who constantly spoke of listening to the people through a variety of means to determine action. The CRC has demonstrated that they are smoke screen, and that they are there to use their positions to push their own agenda. That evidence is in.

Having attended every Charter Review Commission (CRC), more than some of the commissioners, I can attest to the Tozzer derangement syndrome. Shameful for those involved and dangerous for the county.
The survey results reported at the last meeting of the (CRC) did not include all comments, my comments were not included in the committee report.
I believe 80% or more of those who voted for these commissioners have no clue of what a Charter County is and even less about the candidates they voted for. Political affiliation affected the vote along with name awareness.
Commissioners working fir NGOs that they allocate money to? How can anyone not see that is ripe for stealing from the County? Do we have a lawyer for the County that prosecutes that sort of conflict of interest for personal gain? Is that lawyer a live person capable of doing his job? Reminds me of Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles ways of fleecing the public.
For it to rise to a criminal violation would require more than just allocating funds. There would need to be a personal or familial financial gain to make it criminal. This is why our county ethics policy needs to be updated to keep pace with other progressive current ethics trends in government as Jeff pointed out.
We don't need to spend all that energy 'proving' something we KNOW is going to happen...we just need to institute the rules of common decency and understanding on which a Civil-ization is founded.

Clallam county is so corrupt
Having attended every Charter Review Commission (CRC), more than some of the commissioners, I can attest to the Tozzer derangement syndrome. Shameful for those involved and dangerous for the county.
The survey results reported at the last meeting of the (CRC) did not include all comments, my comments were not included in the committee report.
I believe 80% or more of those who voted for these commissioners have no clue of what a Charter County is and even less about the candidates they voted for. Political affiliation affected the vote along with name awareness.
Well, we FEEL like we participated in something useful...isn't that enough?

Commissioners working fir NGOs that they allocate money to? How can anyone not see that is ripe for stealing from the County? Do we have a lawyer for the County that prosecutes that sort of conflict of interest for personal gain? Is that lawyer a live person capable of doing his job? Reminds me of Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles ways of fleecing the public.
For it to rise to a criminal violation would require more than just allocating funds. There would need to be a personal or familial financial gain to make it criminal. This is why our county ethics policy needs to be updated to keep pace with other progressive current ethics trends in government as Jeff pointed out.
We don't need to spend all that energy 'proving' something we KNOW is going to happen...we just need to institute the rules of common decency and understanding on which a Civil-ization is founded.

We knew one in Grays Harbor County. His name was/is Al Carter. He listened to both sides of conflict. No one paid for his campaign, he was honest and caring. He lost to a scum bag at the next election cycle. Honesty and integrity are not valued at any level in politics.
Thanks for the sunshine exposing corruption among the CRBC that was supposed to fight corruption. The factions within the CRC should not exist. The entire board should have created the survey, not a subcommittee. All should have agreed on the wording.
As for "Shall the Clallam County Charter be amended to prohibit County Commissioners and other elected officials from serving on the boards of nonprofit organizations that receive direct funding, contracts, or in-kind support from the County, in order to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure impartial governance?", I would change the "...from the County" to include state, federal, and foreign support.
We shouldn't even have to ask the question...morals and ethics are lost to the MK Ultra groups.

Hamburger, Americas staple bull meat 20 days from Australia, mixed with American fat shipped back out across the world has an awful environmental price. I could go on.
