So much red meat here but three things jump off the page at me, two of them kinda related. First, when someone in a leadership role trumpets their gender equity BS, you’ve lost the argument about hiring the best and brightest, regardless. And as for the tribes and governments hiding decisions behind closed doors and the Seabrook development deal doing what they’re trying to do, what makes any sane person believe these folks do not care about their own vested interests well above and beyond those who live in Clallam County? Of course they should be challenged.

Who decided that this "defund the police" movement across the country was a great idea? These same "brainiacs" then decided that police should not respond to shoplifting and petty thefts of under $1000. Aren't the police there to protect US--the people, the small businesses? A theft of $1000 is no small potatoes to a grocery store that is lucky to sell $1000 worth of goods in a day. The deciders of this invariably are Democrats. Why do they have such disdain for people. I remember a time when they looked out for the very groups they now ignore. Who DO the Democrats support nowadays? The elite and the queer, pierced, facially-inked perverts that intentionally make themselves unemployable to sponge off our tax dollars.

Isn't it time for we, the people, to demand law and order, demand the prosecution of shoplifters, car thieves, and violent vagrants? We pay our taxes for police protection, get next to none, while the tax money is squandered on boofing kits and syringes. Our commissioners need to know how we feel about this.

I found out that when you self check out at a grocery store in Sequim that your picture is taken and your scanned purchases recorded. Slip out without paying? AM employee won't chase you - just send your pic and purchase statement to the SPD and let them pursue. Maybe that might be added to the Police log in the SG. Along with a record of traffic stops made in Sequim and the offense?

I am fatigued with tribal anything. How many generations must have lived in America before being considered Native American ? Why does tribal heritage matter, while no other heritage matters ? To further muddy this Native American situation there need be no genetic connection to be "tribal". One can simply be anointed a tribal member by whatever the tribal Governing authority might be. I see no significance in ancestry, aside from memories and relationships past. As example, today the JKT exercises their ancestral, usual and accustomed practice of casino operation. They have and use cell phones, computers, high velocity weapons, powered cars and boats and use the roads and infrastructure provided by non-tribal members. Additionally, tribal designated members exercise resource harvesting rights above all other citizens of this land. This simply does not square in a country based upon equalitsecondary to travey. The West Bay Development concerns me exclusively over infrastructure. The transportation artery of the entire Olympic Peninsula is Highway 101 which is one lane in each direction. What traffic improvements will this development provide to mitigate it's obvious impact ? Water source, availability and sewage treatment are also essential, but secondary to public travel.

Forest, housing, and tribal divergence

Why should we give funding to Tribes so that they can outcompete and build large scale operations, undoubtfully with many tax advantages, directed towards their housing and profits? One more step in the Peninsula Monopoly game. Who is funding nontribal enterprises so they can compete in the existing market?

“On one side, the Makah Tribe sees sustainable timber harvests as a path to affordable, locally sourced housing and economic resilience.”

Below was copied from Tribal Business News Aug 10, 2025

By Chez Oxendine The Trump administration is expanding timber harvesting on federal lands, but tribal forestry experts say CHRONIC UNDERFUNDING HAS LEFT MOST TRIBES UNABLE TO COMPETE in existing markets or build the infrastructure needed for LARGE-SCALE OPERATIONS...

A March executive order directed the Forest Service to ease environmental regulations, speed up project approvals and open more land to logging. The policy shift affects 574 federally recognized tribes that control 56 million acres of forest nationwide….

Expanding timber agreement options offers tribes two key benefits, Desautel said. Tribes can reduce wildfire fuel that has accumulated under restrictive logging protections, and those that HARVEST LUMBER CAN EXPECT HIGHER REVENUES...

Regarding "that the residents of the 3 Crabs neighborhood be removed and relocated, citing concerns about future sea level rise. That’s right—government-funded committees are now drawing up plans to uproot an entire neighborhood based on projections that may be more political than scientific, and our county commissioners are supporting it."

I just wonder how such egregious govenment overreach could possibly be allowed under the law!? This is the kind of crap one sees in communist China!!

Most of these so called environmental groups have one particular problem in common 'Hypocrisy'and they reek with it.Salmon for instance, tribes i believe actually do care but fail to put a honest effort into making stocks recover. If state & tribes agree upon quotas then tribes will gillnet as much as possible dwindling future years stocks down even more, which is why we have endangered species act that has not been effectively enforced because of greed $$$.Wa state uses the tribes to decimate stocks then sends in biologist to get low numbers report then sends report to fed govt and waits for big pay check which has been going on for many years. So called environmental groups will use strict laws to stop projects but when it is their projects then they see no problems with closed eyes like the cornerhouse excavation site.Remember some years back 'the graving yard project just east of marina close to the waterfront, was for floating bridge pontoons was shutdown by local tribe LEK and was paid millions because of ancestorial grounds and project was moved to aberdeen that cost taxpayers many more excessive millions. But just down the road a short distance the 'LEK cornerhouse project very close to waterfront was ok for excavation. We see hypocrisy a lot with these hypocrite groups when 'they want something'.It is ok for state & tribes to gamble but nobody else ect ect ect.Wa state has been run into the ground by radical taxaholic hypocrites for many years which is why state has so many bad statistics that causes a top high cost of living place in the nation.I guess the hypocrite radicals and ignorants like this because they keep voting to keep it this way until it turns into a complete shithole and then hypocrites will want conservatives to fix their problems.

So the Makah Tribe is partnering up with CRTC to make laminated beams? Maybe the LEKT could build their downtown hotel in Port Angeles and use those laminated beams as a showcase for what is possible.

As far as Seabrook is concerned, it’s strange to see the NIMBY and NIMT (Not in My Town) people partnering up with the Keep Clallam in Poverty people (KCIP) and Don’t Build Anything Ever (DBAE) bunch. Together, they are a formidable force representing the wishes of native-born NOP people for the return of paper mills and well-paying jobs for illiterate high school grads who just want big trucks for themselves and their kids. Build new houses? But what if they use the CRTC laminated beams? Oh, nooooooooooooooooo.

The problem with Clallam County leaders (and I use that term loosely) is that it seems like they're more concerned with DEI, LGBTQ and Native Americans. Issues, and really just things that doesn't pertain to me or really concern me at all. They aren't concerned with kitchen table issues most of us are concerned about. They're not looking at the entire picture, just they're own little projects that bring them more prestige and money in the liberal/socialist party. And, that's all I have to say about that.

“Climate Policy.”

What the water is not rising; what if the plate we are on is being pushed down by another one. Can that be detected? How about rising lava and volcanic activity? Just like squeezing a pimple, eh, Mark?

There is no man-made CO2 or CO2 from any source causing the climate change. Heat causes the CO2 level to rise not vice-versa. Evidence? Think while you are having a beer later.

Here’s one of my pieces on the subject -

Here’s one you haven’t seen from anyone I’m betting. How can this be with all the “scientists” engaged?

Remember “global warming” is really not about warming. It’s about slower cooling. If CO2 works as claimed, it cannot cause warming in a cooling period, and it could only boost temperatures if in a warming period.

And, if CO2 works as claimed, it seems there is an easy way to test that. Look for a change in the rate of cooling. Higher temperatures do not provide proof. However, if the difference between day time high temperatures and night time low temperatures were to decrease, that could be a strong argument supporting CO2 as an agent causing warming.

Why haven’t we seen such data? Must be it doesn’t help the cause of man-made CO2 caused “global warming.”

Spring is probably best for research as the daily variations in temperature are greatest.

It would demand a lot of data. In addition, looking at the change after one hour, two hours, etc. could be informative as it may minimize the impact of changes in the weather, a new system moving in. Avoid “heat islands” and other unnatural conditions.

Reread the Elaine and Steve O'Brien letter. All valid points and the plans go back to the planners with a listing of all the problems Sequim has identified. Then you lay out a specific date for the planner to refile by. What I heard at the Council Meeting and read in the SG is "we are delaying all Master Planned Overlays - we want to review City Code!" In my mind these appear to be 2 separate issues. You "turned in a Stupid Stupid Incomplete Homework Assignment. But was the Homework assignment a valid assignment in the first place? Something isn't passing the smell test in my book. Just an opinion from my surveying days when I happed rod.

As I have stated, we lived two blocks away from Seabrook in Pacific Beach. You give an inch and you know the rest. Thank you to the writer of the info update.
