Congratulations to Vicki Colburn! She fought corruption and succeeded. The citizens of CC can never give up. We have worked, voted, and minded the law all of our lives, and we won't let lazy, corrupted, and smug leaders take away what has been rightfully earned. Every week, Jeff Tozzer speaks frankly to the BoCC, only to be dismissed and mocked. Everyday, Jeff and CCWD bring us valuable information about our community, and we're using it to help us right our county's direction. Our next step is to vote. So VOTE! Don't let your voice be mute because you think it's too small. Speak up and be heard! VOTE! Thank you, Jeff, for never giving up and walking with your head held high.
Good job Vicki. IMO these increases can be attributed to BlackRock Inc. the worlds largest asset manager. They are the largest shareholder of NW Holdings which owns NW Natural Water which owns Cascadia Water.
They own controlling shares in many key resources, which usually is accomplished with only a 10-13% shareholdings, making them the largest or one of the largest individual 'holders'. 'Finklestein' is a demonic psychopath.😇
And thanks also to everyone who took time to submit a letter, I think that was a big deciding factor. Cascadia wants us to pay for repairs to systems in cities that aren't anywhere near. As far as I'm considered they shouldn't get a penny from one system in order to pay for another. If they can't afford upkeep and repairs maybe they should give some of them up.
Don't even get me started on "customer service" as it relates to them, there is none. Oh but I'm sure that would all change if only we gave them more money.
1/2 succeeded...they probably knew they would get 1/2 if the ask was outrageous enough.
Maybe we do get our water too cheaply, but outside corporartions owning and controlling local sources is the road to despotism and tyranny~Glad it wasn't worse, but once the thin end of the wedge is in the door...eternal vigilance...it's exhausting!😎
The fog of battle is lifting. The lines are coming into focus. On one side are the individual locals and local private businesses. On the other side are the Cash Cows that have been living way beyond our (we locals) means for decades, supported by state and federal funding and grants. It was a trap. The spigots are being turned off. The Cash Cows are hurting, bellowing, and mean.
Who are the Cash Cows? Who wants more of our money? Who is screwing up instead of performing their duties?
If current PA council gets their way this town will end up nothing but PSH clients and govt employees- who will fund all those govt employee benefits then?
I *noticed Colleen MacLeer came in last night.. hope shes taking notes and is getting prepared to answer the difficult questions for Port of Port Angeles, as well as the county.
Her dept., Clallam County Economic Development Council. ( CCEDC )
These people, I had hoped their goals and dreams aligned with the local
community, however not the case.
The Letter would have been written by the commissioners, as they needed to “Prove” ( more like claim ) our area was an “Underserved & Undeveloped” area in need” so they could be “granted” Recompete Money-
The receipt of these funds tie into Agenda 2030 & Sequim 2025 Comprehensive Plan.
So you see, these plans to tear up our roads and communities.. it is being orchestrated by the “man behind the curtain”.
💥Gold mine in finding that letter and bringing it forward Denise and whoever else had a hand in it.
💥 Gold mine in finding the grit on Todd, sorry not sorry Todd.. for some reason I don’t trust you.
Follow the deep dives!
I hope to see a LARGE turnout tonight from the folks at 3 crabs, Jeff don’t you think?
If over 600 residents, there better be at least 20 bodies in that room tonight of 3 crabs.
McAleer is a member of the family real estate empire...you would be stunned at her plans for CC. She gave up her realty license so she could represent the family and globalist agendas without appearance of conflict of interest. Not trustworthy in the least!😎
Endorsements are the expressed wishes of the majority of the Central Committee. As chair, I facilitate the votes, but I cannot summarize the entire vote of each PCO. There may be different reasons for each individual. I will say the entire Central Committee believed she was a better choice than her option who I understand effectively suspended his campaign shortly after filing.
Ms. McAleer has been an effective Port Commissioner for our county when compared to past choices. I am not going to discriminate against for having been a realtor or for having family members in real estate.
Failures. Every one of our so-called leaders is a Failure at their job. No excuses. They ALL need to be replaced - voted out. Exception: Jeff Tozzer and his blog!
PA council voted on substantial increases to electric, waste and Medic 1 rates last night though convenient for incumbents the increases won't go into effect until June. The generous discount program for low income remains in place, though it is not clear how often those who receive the discount have to requalify. I would think if rate are going up 14 % or more it would be important to make sure discounts are not being abused but that does not seem to be on council radar.
City and county both seem to keep adding staff whenever they can and expect automatic pay raises every year and all these govt staff with their stellar benefits seem to be the only ones who can afford all these increases. They will likely all vote yes for more taxes because they know where their pay comes from. How is this sustainable?
It's the FEES going up, again. I don't mind the pass-through for the actual electricity, or passing on the garbage TIP fee (cost to haul it away to somewhere). What I mind are the service fees going up. That is only to fund the added staff, and COLA wage increases, and whatever else the city squanders money on. It must stop.
Seems like our "representatives" don't understand that we're being sucked dry from all sides. And, the excuse that we don't have personal state taxes is bullshit.
Washington is among the highest for sales tax (9.23%) Only outdone by Tennessee 9.55%. Higher than the other no-personal income tax states of Nevada 8.23%; Texas 8.19%; Florida 7.08%; South Dakota 6.4%; Wyoming 5.33%; Alaska 1.76%, and New Hampshire 0.0%
and they are adding another FTE for "housing instabilty navigator" because apparently all the housing navigators at NGOs we also help fund are not enough, need more govt admin jobs
Excellent post as always Jeff. I'm wondering why people who don't own property are allowed to vote on anything to do with property taxes? It's not their money! Also, I heard that the Port Angeles fire department is charging small businesses a hefty price to inspect their businesses and also making them pay for a occupancy license that is also hefty? Also heard that property evaluations was horrendous for businesses in downtown PA. Emailed the Fire Department to see if true-haven't heart back yet.
Why do these stinky skunks always seem to show up here, in Clallam county? All of these stories represent Failure. (except for Vicki Colburn's victory.)
PA readers if you are able please attend in person or virtually tonight, lots of big changes coming including rezoning many older single family home areas to high density. "All that effort — representing thousands of hours from City officials, staff, and residents — culminates on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m., when the will City host three public hearings during a Planning Commission meeting at City Hall (321 E 5th St.) and online via WebEx."
Yes, the poor planning commissioner who will have to listen, at length, to the people, but the city council has been bad at listening. I was on the PC when the STR fiasco came to be -- it was a very LONG night, with many people speaking. City staff did not allow us to ponder any of it, we were pressed for a decision IMMEDIATELY. and what we said, was misquoted and misrepresented at council. Things get rammed through, no matter what. It is a clear case of staff managing the optics. BEWARE.
I only caught the tail end tonight, but my thought when I tuned in was that it sounded like the first reading of a bad play, just going through a script unconvincingly. Economic development seems to not be given thought. I wish they would listen to Pelayo.
Suggs stated MRC does not have anything to do with rivers..then has something to do with rivers. The same old one foot to the other. Being in this bad relationship sure sucks. We get lied too without a curtesy supply of reparation H.
For anyone who didn't attend, or hasn't listened to yesterday's BOCCC meeting it was one of the better ones I've listened to. Really interesting and varied comments. More people commenting, names I haven't heard before. Public engagement feels like it's on the upswing.
Of note, when reviewing requests for funds and reading them Mike French and Randy Johnson both stated needing to recuse themselves for ones that they had conflicts with, and French asked staff who were tasked with reviewing them whether they had any conflicts. I was really happy to hear that level of thought.
Maybe they are beginning to pay some attention to ethics.
I want to like these guys but too many red and yellow flags...too little accountability and transparency and public engagement, which means fielding criticism...not easy but if they can't articulate how they got to their conclusions and why they made their choices and share that openly...and correct course based on lots of different inputs...that's poor governance...they seem slick but I can't trust them...the state makes them supply paraphernalia to the street addicts...we're f'd!😎
Congratulations to Vicki Colburn! She fought corruption and succeeded. The citizens of CC can never give up. Those were very inspiring words and thanks Denise Lapio for offering a voice in the wilderness.
1/2 succeeded...they probably knew they would get 1/2 if the ask was outrageous enough.

The plan is to crash it, so the globalists can completely take over...that's the plan.😎
I think I know who the cash cows are.
😊
Good. Another thing, the Cash Cows got fat because of our problems that they put in their begging bags. Pathos pays.
In such an environment, will problems go away or grow?
A “maze” of :
Road Traffic…
Tax Traffic,
Election Traffic…
Culvert Traffic…
Timber Traffic…
etc.
where IS the various grant money coming from?
exactly.
crickets….
Come on now “Clallam Jen”,
I know you have a *Meme that goes with this one..
I know you know what I am thinking…
LOL
Well fertilized weeds do well enough...once they take our water...exponential growth...of tyranny!😎
the grass is always green over the septic tank
The grass not only grows faster and more green over my two septic tanks but I have never witnessed any weeds neither each.
I believe that government begins first at the local level. When the larger entities are introduced the Cash Cows arrive.
Thanks for my daily cup of local news Jeff.😊

I emailed Republican club to explain why the endorsement given your post.
She's VERY clever and I would say, evil.
Almost nothing is as it seems.
Look how many RINO's there are in Republican Party
Both parties are corrupted at the state and national level and brain-dead Dem voters are abundant in WA.
If it's gonna fall...let it fall...getter done!😎
She speaks with forked tongue...most rinos do...
Absolutely!
That’s how to Network 👍🏼
Did you receive a response yet? I was wondering about that... thanks.
Yes I have heard back now. Below is the message

Many people will take time out to comment here, but can we convert that energy into attending tonight's meeting?
I would expect MK.
🙌🏻👍🏼🛑
We'll be at budget meeting in Sequim!😎
clallam county republican club has endorsed Colleen McAleer. There are other recommendations on the website. clallamrepublicans.org
Marin Halverson is a Democrat and running unopposed. Any recommendations for a write in?
That's our problem...we're not organized...they are...they have plans...we have hopes.
I don't know who to write in but I don't have the stamina to campaign.
It all takes energy. The devil supplies its own with lots of energy.😎
someone here knows..
credentials & chatacter
thank you Carol for this comment-
Honestly, I have no recommendation.
I have been watching the *Big Change in Clallam County.
The EDC has appeared to be spearheading the Capital Budget Increases over the last 5-6 years.
I randomly attend weekly meetings to stay involved.
🙃
Your link is bogus. That is not an official Republican party link - it's something from Australia.
Fixed it. The computer must have added the space. thinking it was two words and I forgot to.
Correct link: https://clallamrepublicans.org/
BTW, that Republican website is really exciting - not!

Awesome Article @Jeff Tozzer! I pray that we can somehow right this ship before it's national headlines on how Not to run a county!

Yes, same in Sequim Susie.
Utilities going up or went up here significantly.

Don’t pay any attention to the man behind the curtain. The fourth commissioner?
Get out of my head Eric!! LOL
Yes, pay close attention to the dude in CONTROL behind the curtain.
That is why he gets the Hugh bucks, always with a folksy smile on his face….

Clallamity Jen, great meme! Yes, that's exactly how we feel sometimes. Love it@
JOBS and SAFETY. That's the bumper sticker for Kommissar replacements.

That's certainly the toughest part is understanding when the state has set forth obligations the county has no choice but the fund and carry out.
