Is it inconceivable that a person's life is so miserable that they no longer want it ? I think my wife posted this a week or so ago. I don't have a subscription, but for the left-leaning this Atlantic article, "The Cities That Said Yes to Drugs," examines the impact harm-reduction policies. It sounds all too familiar: local merchants and residents report open-air drug use, rampant shoplifting, and safety risks. We should certainly ask the question and be told by authorities if any of our town's recent sexual assaults/r@pe is aligned with our city/state's harm reduction policies.

I would LOVE to say that I am surprised by the apparent local reports of rape in our community, but with all of the physical attacks and murders that we have all seen over the past few years, I would be surprised if rapes had not increased... I do have to wonder just how many rapes are NOT being reported however, because I am sure that is a very sad reality of our community as well~! Is there a serial rapist loose in our community, or is this just another "bonus" of the Harm Reduction cult that is destroying the fabric of Clallam County in SO many other ways? On our way back home the other day I had to veer out of my driving lane to give a lot of extra space for a pedestrian who was apparently "dancing and wildly flailing his arms" along a road in Carlsborg, because whoever he was talking to and dancing with was endangering others attempting to peacefully travel along the road~! I am sure that I am not the only one who is praying for some commonsense government but also bracing for the next avoidable disaster that will surely befall some poor unfortunate innocent local resident and/or others within our community~!

Where do I begin with this rich issue of CCWD? One thing that struck a nerve was a mentally ill inconsiderate jerk lying in the middle of the highway. They do this, or protest by blocking traffic, glue themselves to pavement, lock hands and block freeways, etc, etc, to "protest", with zero accountability. There are no consequences for what they do, so they behave like undisciplined children who have never heard the word "NO!". If these people were locked up, the mentally ill transferred to asylums, the rest jailed, the incidences of such nuisances would drop dramatically. Is it inconceivable that a person's life is so miserable that they no longer want it ? Harm reduction, counseling and remedial health care are provided free of charge as a second chance; not to support a lifestyle of addiction, crime and misery. Regardless of the whys of a repeat offender, I do not see the revolving door of band aids like harm reduction, clean needles, boofing kits, Narcan, etc. as compassion. Give them something that will keep them alive and send them out the door to do it all over again. A reduction in overdose deaths is not compassion. It is feeding and supporting the agony of an unwanted life.

I just realized last week one of my elderly neighbors is in the Saturday courthouse crew when he put one of those very silly signs in his yard. He's a distinguished military veteran, and well educated. He also has multiple other properties out in the county and in Seattle area so doesn't spend much time seeing what we see in central PA, and is practically deaf and very frail. Seeing that sign in their yard is a reminder to me to always keep learning and asking questions no matter my age. Ancora Imparo!

Kristin, I think that the connection made between the two politicians is a way to defeat Seegers even though the issues involved are entirely separate. Trump was elected for three reasons; One, Harris was a weak candidate. Two, the Biden Administration encouraged a foreign invasion. Three, people didn't vote for Trump per si. They voted for the MAGA movement which rejects wars that don't favor The United States. Also American Citizens should be favored when an employment situation becomes available. We can debate whether Trump is actually MAGA but that is a separate point. I think politically connecting Jake Seegers to Trump might detour swing voters.
