Jeff, thank you for posting the article, “The Dignity Bus Has Already Failed Once”

I was trying to find any information on the success of ‘Dignity’ type programs, but couldn’t find anything past 2023. All the articles I found just talked about how successful the programs were, but the articles were written after only a short while of operations, nothing pertaining to long lasting success.

This was a 19-bed mobile shelter. It only lasted for only 2 years! The budget didn’t include repairs (how can you NOT have maintenance in the budget?) Now it’s only used during the day for laundry and showers until they can sell it. Ouch $$$$

The fact that their City Council voted UNANIMOUSLY against operating it for a 3rd year, tells me an investment in this type of program for Clallam County would be yet another money draining shelter idea.

NO TO DIGNITY BUS

(1) None of the homeless programs are thoroughly researched beyond initial funding.

(2) Figures are not put together adequately nor realistically enough to ever have a true figure of cost to sustain them.

Conclusion: We are being hosed.

HOSED

1. Messed up completely and without hope; to be in a hopelessly bad condition or position.

2. Swindled or taken advantage of by deception.

The fact that the bus company has one available to sell with no waiting time ought to be a red flag. If this was a viable solution to homeless housing they would be sold out for years.French probably works for the bus company and gets commission.

The election will indeed be very close. Pretty much the only folks who have not yet voted are either ambivalent or fence-sitters. Talk to all your friends and encourage them to get 'er done, if they have not already done so! Turnout is everything ...

I find it ironic that with the failure of busses in other places that they even contemplate buying one here. The stupidity is overwhelming and just shows that these decision makers are corrupt. The bus will generate revenue for the French NGO. I ask myself how these people sleep at night. Then I see they don’t sleep they slash signs. I think they stay up all night trying to find another way to tax and spend CC into oblivion. Common sense has left CC on the bus.
