The citizens of this county are being controlled by extremists, because we've let them. While our guard was/is down serving ourselves we've (I included) have failed to see and be involved to balance out what goes on in plain view.

The extremists have merely capitalized on this situation and what we visually have is a teeter totter with one end firmly planted on the ground, the other in the sky. It represents our county. It's stuck because of a ridiculous imbalance. We can't function this way. The halo effect of national politics is strong here, and it has no business in serving everyone equally. There are a handful of elites, a masterclass, and they're intention is to control all of us.

None of what I believe these people are about matters, it's obvious to see, if we open our eyes. If it wasn't for CCWD I'd still be bumbling along doing my thing oblivious and blind to the seriously lopsided government we have.

The extremist agenda won massively with their soldiers being inserted into the CRC process. I question Commissioner Sarmiento's support for Townhalls. If Pickett, Fisch, Stoffer, et al jump on I'll know I'm correct.

When someone as reasonable as Commissioner Richards, a Democrat, is labeled a racist, you know we're in deep shit.

Just come in with idea's and propose them to these people. They go straight to the land acknowledgment. That trail leads to NODC and SERN. Then if you want an answer at an event forget it. You will just be recruited to roll logs and quickly singled out if you don't. But..the threat of ideas really exposes the ugly and corrupt underbelly of their machinery. Not so long ago they had complete anonymity, but now they have been exposed by the boy and his blog in front of Tozzer People.

Ozias' command to his sycophants: Tell the older people to sit down, shut up, hear me and only me, and obey me as your God. Very chilling, Mark Ozias. Not only has Jeff Tozzer given CC residents a voice and a platform thru CCWD, he also has withstood the battlefield of the CRC. Jeff has constantly stood up for us here in CC, and we owe him dearly. He never once wavered in his repect for the people and his oath. As for Ron Ruchards, I did not agree with him on many issues; however, he also never wavered in his commitment to do what is right for the people, the tax-payers, and the Commission. Thank you Ron for your dedication, because CC Commissioners must respond to the BIA on behalf of their citizens. Susan Fisch, Jim Stoffer, and Paul Pickett lead the 2025 CRC to fail epically. Remember them and their mentor, Norma Turner, when you vote in 2029 for the next 15 Commissioners. As always, Jeff, thank you for your excellent work on behalf of the people of CC.

I am disappointed in Ron Cameron. He needed to step up there. He stacked chips from the County LEO trough and he should have defended that trough more aggressively. Its like he quit after the water czar was killed. Like he thought the county will survive all those land acquisitions... That's a guy that doesn't need to wave a swastika sign to pay off a student loan and one of the most capable of getting his brain out of the trunk.

Commissioner Ozias. “Older persons should not talk about their wisdom and experience. They need to listen…”

Do you shuffle that trope past the tribal elders too? How does Ron respond to your "wisdom?"

That aside, this is what leads our county. More imbalance.

How is it that you're in your position, as an "older person?"

Let us know when you tell old man Pickett to sit down and shut his pie hole in deference to Jeff, who's younger.

Did the commissioner say "older person" ie. age discrimination? I caution public officers using such as it could also be violating 1A rights under "viewpoint discrimination," whereas a citizen is being targeted 'But For' his/her viewpoint and adverse action taken or selected action taken by government agencies.

I've noticed more of these violations these days including "Hecklers Veto" another violation of 1A right by protesters who are targeting individuals with different viewpoints in public forum, essentially heckling-suppressing their right to speak.

“Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you.” Pericles was so correct. Part of solving the problem is doing what Jeff, and others, have started with CCWD - expose the partisan leftwing ideology driving the county into the poorhouse. Just as important is voter apathy. We need to mobilize voters. When only 27,865 voters out of 58,529 cast ballots in the November election, and the “progressives” get more of their ilk to vote than the other side, they win.

Also, shouldn’t any person elected to a seat on the commission be required to give up any other official positions on any NGO or entity that does business with the county????

Independent thought is not tolerated within the Democrat Party. Party constituents either march to the cliff en masse or experience the wrath of the collective for not heeling. We live in a country of laws. The laws can and do change with the times, but until then, they remain the law. The issue with illegal immigrants is not their ethnicity, country of origin language or accent. The issue is that they are ILLEGAL. The reality of indigenous, native, Aboriginal, first nation people, is that there are none living today. They are all dead. Their descendants are no more or no less righteous or corrupt than any other descendants. Who came before the first nations ? Exactly how many generations are legally necessary before one qualifies for the classifications of native or indigenous or first nations or aboriginal ? I was born in Portland Oregon April of 1947 and have resided in the State of Washington since then. If I am not a native American, what then ? I have a love of, passion for and a collection of tribal/indigenous/native/Aboriginal art. This feel good, bullshit, pretense of championing the infinite forms of minority-ism must end. Well, that would certainly be convenient for you! Since what you bring to the table is your loyalty to the tribe and your own agenda. How painful it must be that “Older” people have memories of all your failures. You, sir are the one that needs to listen. We come from backgrounds of business success, medical careers, personally grown wealth. You however, are a government tick, sucking the blood out of the county. Somehow, you are sucking more blood than what’s available. Your pathetic attempt to silence the educated and aware in this community, shows how out of touch you truly are. Your contempt for citizens is so apparent, what are you afraid of? That even more voters will see you are not capable of doing the job you are paid to accomplish. No surprise there.

Many of the retired transplants to Clallam County spent a lifetime collecting the degrees, titles, and jobs to be taken serious. You can tell that people like Susan Fisch and Jim Stoffer really cared about being taken serious in their professional lives, but there were guard rails that kept them in the lines. And they spent their careers feeling they were serious and important.

Then they moved to WA and Clallam County and felt they were so important and serious that they should be allowed to tell everyone else how to live, but there are no guard rails. They are now wholly unserious people. If you look up the definition of unserious you will see one of the definitions is: (Of a person) Not reliable or responsible in serious situations; lacking in gravity, earnestness, or sincerity.

I find it sad. These people do not understand how clownish they look. And I know. I come from their world where titles and degrees make you a serious person. But they have flushed it all down the toilet because they do not know how to navigate the real world without the guard rails in place to keep you serious. I think it is time to disqualify anyone from public office that is retired and has a previous "serious" career. That includes me, I do not want to look clownish.

I just did some google research on Susan Fisch and I’m left wondering, what happened to her? I’m thinking you are right about the guard rails; it makes sense.

Her judicial performance evaluations in Colorado report her as being fair, and overly cautious to not be lenient with one side over another, in her 2008 evaluation: https://judicialperformance.colorado.gov/fisch-susan-2010-evaluation

Her 2018 evaluation gives her nothing but praise: https://judicialperformance.colorado.gov/fisch-susan-2018-evaluation

That doesn’t seem to be the Susan Fisch that is overseeing proceedings now. When I heard Jeff, in a previous podcast, mention that she provided an anonymous email that claimed he was a bully and then closed the matter — without him being able to question the anonymous email — it sent off warnings to me that she does not respect due process. She arrived with good credentials but it doesn’t seem to be the same person as described in her evaluations.

When I see people driving in Sequim, I think they’re either drunk, blind, or medicated. Cognitive decline is a thought I had too when I read her evaluations. If people openly question Trump about his cognitive abilities, it seems only fair that all other elected officials serving in any capacity can be openly questioned about their cognitive abilities as well.

Perhaps moving into a "retirement community" where the cost to obtain your comfort is always on the rise, one could potentially lose morals and ethics only to side with the construction that keeps you safe and warm and comfortable.

I've noticed that many who are reeling closer to the unknown future of their demise will often revert into more structured and sometimes eccentric frameworks of belief in order to counter -act the looming fears they fall into.

If you are afraid to die alone and in a home where no one visits or cares, will you not attempt to obtain all conditions of power you hold?

Expand full comment
Clallamity Jen's avatar

That makes a lot of sense too; a good piece to the puzzle! I did a google search along the lines of why retired people change drastically; one of the topics mentioned was the concern of rising cost of living wiping out retirement or savings, and that the fear of that is sometimes greater than the fear of death. Even with a good pension or retirement, I wouldn’t doubt that there are people who become driven by holding on to their comforts — including the comfort of power — at any cost.

Susan Frisch, wow! Petty tyrant extraordinaire. Was she driven out of Colorado? And Paul Pickett, what a pair they make.

“. . . if the tribes hadn’t signed treaties giving up rights to this land.” Was there a treaty involving “this” land other than the Point No Point Treaty? Has Paul Pickett ever acknowledged the payment of money at the time to the tribes for this and other land? While some might argue it wasn’t enough, a case could be made otherwise.

Economists in the 1950s claimed if the tribes that sold Manhattan in 1626 for $24 worth of beads had invested $24 at 7%, they would have been able to buy Manhattan back. Value is relative sometimes, especially when there is more land for your use, and no real sacrifice is involved.

Judge Boldt, in that awful decision, remarked how adamantly and forcefully (my description from memory) the tribes fought for fishing. The same was not true of the land. The sale price? $60,000, I believe. Had that been invested at 7% since 1855, they would now have around $5.5 Billion. With interest compounded monthly instead of annually, just under $8 Billion.

Do we need to ask what they would have done with more money? There’s a reason the tribes insisted that one of the terms in the treaty was no alcohol on the land reserved for them.

The tribes were offered other help that had monetary benefit. What was the future value of that and all the other payments and other “gimmes” now?

End the lies! That includes salmon, dams, culverts, hatcheries, estuaries, stewardship, land acknowledgments, and ???
