Thank you for doing this research. This is exactly the background check we needed before he was hired. My only question was which hospitals did he actually turnaround? How does OMC compare?

My take from the August 6 meeting was that this guy had already been hired. The interview done by the Board of Dr. Chen was done to placate staff and community. (He thought the problems could be fixed! FOOL! The hospital Board, headed by Ann, already I'm guessing had established this EXIT PLAN. We want to close this place - understand this!

I have been sending weekly emails to the Commissioners for this information for over a month, no response, other than from Phil Guintoli, "Mark has had that title at 22 locations". Ann's only responded with "what his tasks are", posted on the Interim CEO, without any detail on actual "accomplishments" from a system similar to OMC.

Thank You Jeff, for sharing this "new" information!

Before I engaged any Consultants, always did background checks & was knowledgeable to ask the right questions. Did not rely on a LinkedIn Social Media account.

We do not have that with our current Commissioners!

Now, seeing an "Interim CFO" on OMC Career site. Here comes another high priced Consultant!

I grew up in Santa Paula, whose hospital closure Jeff mentions here. I have friends who worked at that hospital during the turbulent closure times. Their stories are frightening. SP is a lot like Sequim, a rural little agricultural town nicknamed the "Lemon Capital of the World" and about 90 miles north of Los Angeles. Kinda like we're a couple of hours from Seattle. Keep a sharp eye on what transpires with OMC in the next 12-24 months. Also, in related news, for those interested in the “Hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians will lose their healthcare” scare promulgated by our governor last month, check out this post from Nancy Churchill ... https://www.clarkcountytoday.com/opinion/opinion-the-panic-is-political/. So we bring in a failure to run our hospital and praise the old failure for leaving?? Seriously, who in the absolute hell is making these decisions??? To our concerned citizens who truly see what is going on, we need to put our feet down, stand tall and fight back against these corrupt individuals ... To start our 3 county commissioners must go. Simply voting will not get rid of them. We have a flawed voting system with no accountability. We must recall these horrible people. They simply do not have citizens best interest in mind, only their own personal gain. The lengths they will go to to hold onto power shows no bounds. We are getting to the point of no return and when that happens I fear things will really get bad. If we truly want things to change then we must hold these corrupt commissioners accountable and punish them accordingly. Holding people accountable will change the actions of others..

They are sociopathic narcissists playing the role they were programmed for.

They will not and cannot deviate because they are programmed.

They are already partly trans-human.

We don't want or need 'bots' running our gov't!

Demand they vacate, immediately...the county will not stop operating without these 'agents'...in fact the real administrators will breathe a sigh of relief and we can, I suggest, 'hire' or 'appoint' appropriate people who can be FIRED, as necessary when they don't perform properly with honor, integrity, common sense, responsiveness to The People, and judicial and financial accountability and responsibility!😎

And, the people who call themselves conservatives don't vote, they turn a blind eye, but then complain when something happens to them or to their family. Voter turnout is horrible. What is your strategy for helping us?

There are ways. I lived on a block in Berkeley, CA that had a horrible landlord renting to insane drug dealers and it affected everyone (thefts, robbery, thuggery, etc.) The landlord just wouldn't stop renting to these people (out of area landlord, didn't care, "they pay their rent".) So, three blocks of neighbors filed small-claims lawsuits,, and asked them to be "enjoined" and heard together. (What was dubbed a "common man's class action lawsuit".) Yep, everyone had to pony up the fee to file the small claims suit, and at the time the maximum coverage was $1k. But, when the court decided in the joined neighbors favor -- that amounted to a lot of money, because a lot of people filed. Together they went to the landlord, and negotiated that they SELL the building, and in the process evicted all the drug dealers. Place was cleaned up --- neighborhood improved greatly.

So, we have the power to recall the hospital's elected. We can sue the hospital itself. We can make noise and make waves, and make our voices heard.

So, there are a few items that jump out.

-The former Chief Financial Officer takes over as Chief Executive Officer, then 2023 is 18 million over budget, then 2024 is $28 million over, then in 2025 the CEO, the new CFO, and a slew of other C-suite admins abruptly retire as the hospital faces financial collapse.

-The community and staff demand they hire a known, competent, and TRUSTED individual already familiar with OMC (Allen Chen), but instead they bring in some outsider with a history of hatchet jobs.

Why did the debt skyrocket the past few years? Where did this money actually go? Are they trying to cover their tracks? Is anyone doing any forensic accounting???

Just to be unambiguously clear; Did the exiting C-suite embezzle, divert, subvert, or outright steal millions of tax payer/government money from OMC?

This chain of events is ridiculously suspect. Anyone else think so?

They hired a classic “turnaround/transaction” interim. Not a builder. A cleaner. The kind you bring in when the board wants hard decisions made fast. Cut burn, fix compliance and prep for a partner. The best-case is Gregson is a disciplined stabilizer who cuts waste, fixes compliance, and shores up cash while preserving core services. The worst-case is the familiar rural-hospital spiral: quiet service cuts → staff flight → quality dips → partner’s “network optimization” → the community gets few services and longer drives for care. These private-equity-style turnaround tactics have hammered rural hospitals nationwide. If OMC are wise they will be open and transparent with the community about the UW Medicine discussions.
