Jeff, this is appalling. If they can't defeat your arguments in open debate, they'll call you names, slander you, and try and shame your reputation and ostracize you in a community that doesn't yet know you. When that doesn't work, they'll try and scare you with threats of onerous financial penalties and time-consuming and expensive-to-fight legal actions. Any sane person would immediately see this type of action for what it is and that it will go nowhere, but in this Alice in Wonderland state and county in which we live, where black is white and up is down, where giving drug addicts the means to continue being junkies is seen as compassion, who knows? If one hasn't seen the need for change in government before now, this should be your wakeup call.

Typical democrat playbook tactics. No wonder so many have left their party.

I've never put a political sign in my yard ever in my life, and 13 years ago I didn't even have a yard to put one in. But this year I will proudly display a Seegers sign ( just as soon as I'm done with my extravagant ride on Jeff Tozzer's Not yacht)

Denise Lapio's avatar

Love the Not Yacht disclaimer.

I find it appalling that the dems will stoop this low. If you can’t run your campaign with a positive message then mute the opposition. If they were doing things good they wouldn’t have to worry. We need to break up the juggernaut that continues to have the good old boy agenda. Their purpose seems to be what’s good for me is not for thee. I need my coffee to chill out after reading the actions of the dems tactics.

"EVERY THING BUT THE KITCHEN SINK" BLOG BLOCKING AND THE TACTICS USED: DO THE STRATEGIES SOUND FAMILIAR?

CCWD: Jeff Tozzer “Seegers’ campaign is facing mounting legal and financial pressure”

VS

OLYMPIC HERALD: Anthony Tomashefsky “They deployed sprawling campaigns of paper terrorism, attempted to weaponize the civil courts, and demanded unconstitutional gag orders specifically designed to financially exhaust and legally eradicate our reporting”

https://www.olympicherald.com/p/may-in-review-the-relentless-fight

OLYMPIC HERALD: "During the month of May, the entrenched power structure of Clallam County threw everything they had at this newspaper.

They deployed sprawling campaigns of paper terrorism, attempted to weaponize the civil courts, and demanded UNCONSTITUTIONAL GAG ORDERS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO FINANCIALLY EXHAUST AND LEGALLY ERADICATE OUR REPORTING.

They failed"

They are just "breaking the glass" to protect 4 or 5 layers of government they have put on the shoulders of tax payers.

Unfortunately this is standard protocol. If they can’t shut your campaign this way, they will Spencer Pratt you.

This is not good.

Some of you may know me as an antagonistic SOB who swoops in and s**** here occasionally. That's a reasonable viewpoint.

I highly value your ability to gather like-minded people and support your viewpoint. You do allow opposing viewpoints here.

I've posted what I would consider some very over the line stuff, occasionally very calculatedly so, just to see how far I could push it. It did not get censored.

Jeff let the conversation go and saw where it went and decided it added value to whatever his goal was. Because Jeff is in charge here. Reasonably so.

When the political position was finally announced, it was a reasonable progression to somebody's semi-personal/ public website. I had asked previously where it was all going. Jeff didn't know yet. Reasonable. Now we know where it is. Also reasonable.

It started with a person's viewpoint and gathered like-minded viewpoints. Where the hell else would it go?

So now the question is what legal s*** they're going to throw at you. You say you have a very well documented trail, but did you have a lawyer involved in those conversations? I'm not one, but I know to have one in those types of conversations.

Hopefully you have a good one now.

none of your damn business, you give a very evenhanded reply

QUESTION: "So now the question is what legal s*** they're going to throw at you"

ANSWER: "Everything but the kitchen sink"

What's worse is the week of counting that goes on after they figure out what percentage of votes they need to defeat Jake. Its bad enough they won't hand over voter roles and prove illegals are not voting.

The good news is that two candidates are running this year that could get standing to challenge the election and try to get discovery. Voters can't get standing only candidates can. Somebody somewhere is going to postmark or otherwise fix ballots and then inundate the system with replacement ballots to make it look good. Who is Jim Taylor for 300 Alex..

I would advise all candidates to send a request to the County Auditor for the voter rolls in order to cement standing and discovery.

Right, John. Be prepared, be proactive.

A frivolous claim, often called a bad faith claim, refers to a lawsuit, motion or appeal that is intended to harass, delay or embarrass the opposition. A claim is frivolous when the claim lacks any arguable basis either in law or in fact. Defending against frivolous lawsuits can be incredibly expensive and stressful, forcing you to hire an attorney and spend time away from your business or family to fight a baseless claim. defendant. If it walks like a duck...

Denise Lapio's avatar

In a previous CCWD article featuring Virginia Shogren, one commenter pointed out that one of her lawsuits was declared frivolous by a judge and thrown out. These same people, including Paul Pickett, are piling on the frivolous accusations. Gee, who is surprised by this?

MK's avatar

Jeff, you have also published at least one response from Mike French recently. Best submit a whatever form to the PDC for his campaign.

Jodi Dotson's avatar

The democrats demonstrates how ugly they truly are. They can’t just run a campaign without name blaming , name calling or just blatantly lie. It is bad enough they rig the elections but then you have to put up with this crap along the way. Nothing but a socialist/communist playbook!!!

MK's avatar

From my perspective I can't pin this on the "Democrats." It denigrates those who are truly Democrats and would never act this way. Both parties are in a national fight of the crazies who control them, and that's what I see going on here which spills over into campaigns.

Paul Pickett is a radical who I'd guess has little semblance to a real Democrat, but it's the best vehicle he has for his views. If you listened to him talk in any of the CRC meetings the contrast played out in a consistent way.

Denise Lapio's avatar

True, there are shades of party line colors, but he aligns himself with the Democrat party, and no one in the party is pushing back. Democrats need to disavow him, but they won't because they benefit from his tactics.

Clearly; someone, some entity or organization is threatened by Jake Seegar's candidacy. Rather than sneaking and slithering about with mertiless complaints, posting stickers and back stabbing, how about a debate or public statement ? What or who someone dislikes is useless, unproductive energy. What you like, support or promote is what matters. Find some courage, if that is even remotely possible, and make clear what or who you support and why.

John Worthington's avatar

To top it all off the elections division will just keep counting votes until French wins. Look at the Port Angeles election and the LA Mayor election.

As far as crotch dog is concerned I am a big boy. Its all good. I retort by calling them "willing farter willing smeller," it evens out.

John Worthington's avatar

A serial harasser..

Paul Pickett was recently “elected” to the Thurston County Conservation District with one primary task – cover up the corruption and incompetence by Thurston Conservation District Staff while ensuring the blame gets shifted somewhere else. This task was Pickett’s prime duty to ensure the highest priority for all the grifters who benefit from government grants – ensure the flow of federal, state and other grant dollars continue without interruption and certainly without any real oversight. Pickett has his orders and is eager to lead the charge.

ABeetlebaum's avatar

WOW. This is very relevant! Thank you for posting!

4 reasonable development's avatar

Not surprised by Mr. Pickett’s action to file such a complaint instead of doing a cease and desist letter (giving notice, a warning). The cease and desist letter is a formal written notice demanding that an individual or organization immediately stop an alleged unlawful activity and refrain from doing it in the future. It warns the recipient that legal action may be pursued if the behavior continues, serving as an efficient and cost-effective preliminary step before litigation.

Mr. Pickett is a real “snake in the grass” as evidenced (watch past recorded committee meetings online Clallam County) by his actions while serving on the Clallam County Charter Review Committee. Mr. Pickett is a far left radical, he fits right in there with other prominent Democrats & Communists who continually are not held accountable for their actions. I guess more of the same type of complaints need to come their way if this is how the game is played? Mr. Pickett’s reputation from Thurston County proceeds himself & it is not good.

Mr. Pickett $80,000 is a ridiculous amount of money in fines for a grassroots campaign. Democrats play dirty people, remember this & decide which team you want to be on. The Republicans bend over to democrat complaints like what happened to the Washington State Republican Women’s Group, consequently creating uniparty’s controlled by democrats and their complaints.

John Worthington's avatar

Teeing Jeff up on the Charter Review Commission makes so much more sense now...

Kathy's avatar

Fines should be applied to those who waste everyone's time by submitting frivolous complaints, and those fines should be double what the complainant asked for. If they did their research (like CCWD did) they would know they have no standing. But then I believe they only want to wear the campaigners down until they give up, and that's not going to happen.
