Our ballots are officially accepted! @jefftozzer, I literally said out loud in my kitchen that I needed "proof of life" from you, and then this Substack notification popped up immediately. We'll take it as sufficient proof that you're still kicking!

Projecting an outcome before every vote is counted is undermining the election process. A vote is someone’s voice; those voices deserve to be counted and heard, not silenced.

Wasn't James Taylor wayyy ahead on the first round of counting? I happily predicted he would win. Sad he didn't ; (

"More than 300 Clallam ballots won’t count unless voters fix them, and yours could be one of them"

I checked both my son's ballots. One went through, the other one didn't because he failed to sign the outside mailing envelope of the ballot. I told him and gave him the number to call.

He's on Time Out until he corrects it!

I found 5 people on the list I know and sent them Facebook messages.

I actually checked mine a few times just to be safe :D

Hope you & Doug are enjoying your yacht time.

All this information looks solid. It’s been interesting for sure. Hope everyone gets their vote cured and counted.

Yet there you are on Facebook calling Jake an "election denier" because he commented the votes weren’t counted before the second round of counts dropped. And adding a question mark after "election denier" doesn't change the true meaning of your comment.

I can also admit I’m wrong once in awhile. I certainly want everyone who voted to have their vote counted. We will see how it goes. I’m not proved wrong yet, lol.

Thanks, Jeff!

The most important outcome of this election--no matter the results--is the love, friendship, and hope found in relationship with others.

Jesus says, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." At hand means reachable. And never is that found in perfection in a political kingdom. Yet our shared commonality in land and water and air and people (Clallam is our home), requires that we relate at a political level. So, keep it up men and women!

Nastiness is entropic. Evil loses.

Love is true freedom. God wins.

A neighbor of mine called Republicans Nazis in a recent Nextdoor post. I am a Republican. How do I stay friends with someone like that?

I've had to forgive some very, very nasty people, who never apologized to me. It's very hard, makes my body shiver and shake. It's not natural. (Others have had to forgive me too, and I pray they did!) But a strange thing happens: you are then participating with the angles in heaven. This is the battle in the spiritual realm. The battle happens in both the physical and the spiritual realm. In the physical realm, that's Matt 5-6 stuff. It's strange. But the outcomes are muy bueno!

I wrote this before the elections and am astonished at the probable outcome. I don’t know how so many people are voting for a socialist style government. I keep asking the questions, but never seem to find logical answers. I guess I am just going to deal with the surprises and hope for a different outcome at the next election. How have we gotten to this state of affairs? The better question is; Will we survive?

I did check my ballot.

Musings. October 27, 2026

As I write my comments, I think about time wasted. I rarely know if anyone is reading my comments. If I am lucky I may get a bite or two. This is sort of like fishing. I cast out the bait and hope for a strike. Then I read other’s comments. They too are often just spending time hoping someone will write a reply, and possibly start a conversation. Socialization.

Also, I am amazed at the comments. Who are these people? Are there real people who make up these comments? Maybe this is the reason we have so many questionable people voted into office. I have many concerns about any who buy into the Democrat Socialist song and dance. I am so suspicious of the motives of people who are taking advantage of gullible voters. When will the disappointments begin to show?

I come back to rhetorical questions. (Rhetorical is an adjective that describes language, speech, or writing used to persuade, influence, or communicate effectively, or a question asked merely for effect rather than to get a direct answer.) Actually I am talking to my self.

Is our education system producing educated graduates? I read that about 40% of our adult population cannot read above the 5th grade level. How do folks function when they cannot read? We know that many of our “graduates” cannot read, write, or solve math problems. How many “graduates” do any research regarding who is voted into office? The results are questionable. While we are on the subject, who are our teachers? What have they been taught?

I would think the choices for electoral candidates is part of our problems. Who is willing to run for elected office? It takes money, a lot of money. Certainly some skills are involved. It also takes courage. The verbal abuse of candidates would intimidate most people. Then, there are the expectations from your constituents. No reality there. With a constituency that includes so many semi-literate voters even the requests could be unrealistic. Are these the people who know only about destruction and neglect rather than becoming builders?

I have in mind possible qualifications to run for office. Some of these offices require a lot of knowledge and skills, but these requirements are not part of the qualifications to run for office. The possible result is a lot of unskilled (semi-skilled) people in elected office. Survivors must be good at learning on the job. Just the ability to keep the job is a skill. We voters also hope for some degree of honesty and responsibility. Again this a hit and miss situation. Maybe there should be written qualifications to run for any office. How many voters understand the demands of the different elected positions? It is amazing that we voters end up with as many “qualified” office holders as we do.

Our political system has faults, but we as a country have survived in spite of our failings. We can, and should, however seek to improve. Written qualifications for candidacy should be required. Candidates should be skilled to some degree before running for office. Personal responsibility is important. Experience counts. How does one apprentice to become an elected official? I am also in favor of stricter requirements to be able to vote. Voters should be required to vote in person. There could be exceptions, but to face a volunteer with a registration book would minimize the numbers of illegal voters. Who else would you want to have a say in guiding our country? Each voter must prove they are a citizen of the United States and registered to vote. The voter shows identification to prove their citizenship, writes their name in a book, and fills out the ballot at the polling place. If we could keep the process simple there would be fewer challenges about validity of the election. An honest election is required.

Speaking of elections, what do the people who vote for Democrat Socialists believe when they vote these folks into office? The only people benefiting from socialism are those controlling the money. I remind people when it is easy come it can be easy go. Here is where I can also blame our schools. What are our children learning? They are being indoctrinated to be dependent on others to survive instead of learning to become self sufficient. Are we preparing our children to become leaders? We need producers instead of takers. Free transportation, free college education, free childcare, subsidized rents become unlimited demands. Someone has to pay. If you didn’t earn it why do you think you deserve it?

An Older Definition. A repeat.

Now we’ll turn to the second dictionary—the old dictionary. In particular, I’ll be citing Noah Webster’s 1828 dictionary definition of “education”:

“The bringing up, as of a child; instruction; formation of manners. Education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, arts, and science is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties.”

The older definition of education is what our families need to know. These are the talents our children must be taught. Our entire society is depending upon our children to carry the responsibility to have our country prosper and have their children assist with those tasks. Supportive families count. They are our country’s future. They need the support of their elders, and friends, to become better citizens. They need a better education. Maybe our children will also learn the values of voting and working. Learning to become independent thinkers, self-sufficient, contributors, responsible members of our society. Our country’s survival rests in their hands.

I rest my case!

To close a 3,750-vote gap, Seegers needs 61 percent of the uncounted votes. That's mathematically possible, but politically unrealistic. French wins.

No race in Clallam County is going to be changed by the remaining ballots.

The most amazing thing about this election is for the Clallam County electorate to have so overwhelmingly rejected the advice of the Clallam County Democrats and Jim Stoffer to vote against the Charter Amendments. This is especially so given the immense shift towards Demcratic candidates throughout the country, including Washington State and Clallam County.

The story behind this as I see it is the undue influence of a few prominent Democrats who had bones to pick with the Charter Review Commission (including some members of the CRC) and who wanted revenge more than good government. Not a good way to run a party.

With the huge advantage the Democrats had because of the failed policies and the terrible personality traits of Donald Trump now subsiding the Democrats need to work very hard on correcting their bad policies and implementing there good policies. They can to longer rely on Trump's unpopularity.

Those of you who so ferverently supported Trump's policies should maybe begin thinking they were not so good and start thinking that the Democrats' policies might improve your lot in life.
