Hopefully new govt will not be foolishly handing out $$$ to whoever ask for it.Tribes with lucrative buisnesses and mass $$$ in coffers should have to support their own like the rest of us.When some are used to getting free entitlements just for asking, any negative response will hurt spoiled takers feelings and probably result in a racism remark to hopefully get their way.

Mr. Swegle I am surprised that the "Race Card" has not expired by now. Is it still valuable here in Sequim LOL? Humans are not much different from the bears. Bears become petulant when a valuable food source is removed.

The race card will probably never expire as long as our tax $$$ is giving out to certain people without much transparency or accountability, some of us do not like others getting a free ride or in some cases just squandering the endless supply of tax $$$,why not take turns i am ready for my share lol.

If a portion of our population chooses to claim and live sovereignty, they should be treated identical to all other sovereign nations. Travel restrictions, passport services, tariffs, taxation all identical to our relationship with Canada, Mexico or Hungary. The both/and existence afforded to those claiming ancestry entitlements is not compatible with a Constitutional Republic or equality. To the "tribes" (?) I say get in or get out. Renounce treaty entitlements or live true sovereignty. The ancestry and cultural claim is an ultimate hypocrisy. Creating displays of ancestral basket weaving, wooden pegged boxes, wooden fish hooks etc. and then taking a picture of it all with their cell phones. In or out, but not both.

Sovereignty is pretty straight forward when presented in proper context. The time has long since passed to either excrete or get off the pot, for both the taxpayers and the parasitic drian of dependents pretending to be in-charge of our Republic. I have stood, when the odds were against that which I stand-for, with those around me who agreed with my stance as-asserted, remaining seated. I was told as I stood (literally),"don't make an idiot of yourself". As I remained standing, stating my understanding of the situation at-hand, asking if my assertion was accurate, the reply was dead silence. I sat back down, knowing my fate if I remained on the current course. This scenario happened during a union meeting in 1977, while we, AWPPW Local 155, were out on strike, and were voting to remain on-strike due to a rumor that another union was being treated unfairly, to stand in "solidarity" with them. We had just been presented a contract offer, having been on strike for several months, but our Union Reps. advised us remain "out". We were out for 7 months and ended up taking the original offer presented 7 months prior. The current state of our State, County, Cities and local economic conditions take my thoughts back to that situation in 1977. Oh, as a caveat, Rayonier and the former Crown Zellerback mills no longer exist; the taxpayer tack, on the current heading. Complacency is precisely how we arrived at this juncture; I will no longer stand alone, speaking for others who will not speak for themselves.

IMO there was a wanton cruelty mixed with the DNA of some tribes. I wonder if it was the result of an evolutionary factor. I confess though that in the 14th Century Europeans also set their enemies on fire.

Sooooo, what would happen if the Washington State non-tribe population said, "Fine. We'll give you you back the whole state and then you figure out how to make this whole mess work," while exempting the non-tribe population from all the rules the tribes come up with? Maybe that would be a solution to the inequity of the current system?

The same thing that always happens when 'colonizers' withdraw...utter chaos...violent revolution, etc.

All of the nation states the U.K. colonized and withdrew from, leaving their ideology entrenched... have gone to shit...other de-colonized 'provinces' (by other nation-states) have the same results. Not to say the colonizers were 'right' but they brought order in order to extract resources and disorder prevails afterward which weakens the nation and more corruption and extraction can occur with briberies and kick-backs.

It's the rapacious, godless nature of humanity GMO'ed by the Anunnaki that is the source of the problems we face...not actually Godless but run by 'the god of this world'.

Some of us have discernment about this and are not totally corrupted by the small 'g' gods, so there must be a counter-force at work as well or we would not be able to discern what is good and what is evil.

This is one crazy-ass place and it's right in our face!😊

Losing the Farm.. heartbreaking story. It’s incredibly easy to get so wrapped up in your own personal struggles that you become ignorant to the life altering losses of others. But my problems suddenly feel insignificant & almost silly in comparison to the Bedlingtons generational loss. It’s difficult to even imagine the hopelessness, anger, frustration, grief- having no choice but to navigate through the plethora of emotional & mental trauma on top of what the uncertainty of financial security for your family & for your extended family of employees looks like. No doubt the entire community still feels the ripple effect of losing that farm & the positive impact it had in that area for so many decades

While so much is disturbing in the (mis) management of our County, I'm really concerned about my water rights and outside efforts to wrest control of those rights. In a previous column I recall there was a person who had successfully pushed back in another county. Is there a concerted effort of opposition to this in Clallam County? If so how do we get involved.

Thanks

On a local level, I'd say keep reading CCWD. This is a really interesting year for the Charter Review and we should know more about a water steward position in the next months as the CRC pushes to get it on the ballot (or maybe it won't have enough support). On a bigger scale, we just have to keep an eye on Whatcom County.

As more and more ditches were piped, more and more alluvium went down the river. This explains the build up you documented. Its part of the lie... lie 22 by now. Sea level rise can't be causing the problem because the alluvium is expanding the reach. This is why they want that land so bad. They know its growing but they don't want to pay full price for it. The dike breach definitely causes the flooding. Their bad relationship doesn't hide their lies.

The Tribes constantly ask for increase funding everywhere, here’s another one:

NATIVE NEWS ONLINE JUNE 1, 2025 President Donald Trump’s proposal to eliminate Advance Appropriations for IHS is ignorant, short-sighted, and deeply disrespectful. It demonstrates a fundamental disregard for the federal trust and treaty obligations that form the basis of the United States’ relationship with Tribal Nations.

This move should alarm all Tribal leaders—regardless of political affiliation. As sovereign nations, we must remain politically neutral and able to work with whoever is in power.

In our system of government—thankfully modeled in part on the Iroquois Confederacy—the power of the purse rests with Congress. While many in the House have already acquiesced to extreme political pressures, we still have a path forward through the Senate. It is urgent and imperative that we engage our U.S. Senators to preserve IHS Advance Appropriations and demand full funding for the Indian Health Service.

The IHS Budget Formulation Work Group has made it clear: full funding should be at least $50 billion, WHICH IS $41 BILLION MORE THAT CURRENT APPROPRIATIONS. This is not an aspirational number—it is the minimum required to begin to meet the true health care needs of Indian Country.

Well, they'll be alright when the federal gov't finally Declares bankruptcy...the tribes will soldier on with their Casino blessings ever expanding....unless it gets so bad people quit gambling....naaaaawwhh...pro'bly won't happen... could though!

I know of a person who receives over $11,000 monthly pension and spends $5000 monthly at the Casino...there may be many such in our little county...I have heard that many Bell-Hillians have mortgaged (mort= death...gage=measure...it's all a formula) their homes to gamble in the stock market and at the casinos (available online...you don't have to leave home to destroy your finances) and have not done too well...many may be hanging on by a thread already.

We live in interesting times!😀

If there were no idiots, Democrats would disappear. Why am I saying this? Because every one of these problems is promoted by Democrats. The party has morphed from one that looked out for the working class, to one that focuses on destruction of society and traditional norms. If honor, integrity, hard work, families, merit, accountability, Constitutionality, law & order, and other traditional values, the Democrats are against it. Frankly, I cannot think of a single redeeming quality in that party. All they want is power, at everyone else's expense, especially taxpayers' expense that is used to buy power.

Why are the tribes so inferior to the rest of us-- Whites, Blacks, Asians, Arabs, Jews, Hindus--that they cannot stand on their own two feet, pay taxes and abide by laws, same as we all do? Why must our tax money subsidize them, while they rake in more money, per capita, than most of us do, and then not pay tax on it, while we do? I sometimes wonder if Clallam County is part of Bizarro World, (from D.C. Comics) where everything is the reverse of normalcy. It used to be that someone who hit & run, crossed state lines to escape accountability, would be imprisoned for many years, yet this Democrat judge lets him off the hook??? But, if a conservative shot a burglar, they would be the ones likely seeing the insides of a prison cell. Tell me if Clallam County is not Bizarro World!

Democrats are destroying our state and nation one policy at a time. Elected officials that don't/won't speak up against what's happening should not be in office representing working class people. There will only be a minority paying property taxes when the majority of tribal government takes over completely. Sovereign Nations should not receive federal funds/grants.

The BIA policy to avoid checkerboarding is a telltale sign of Commissioner negligence.

They should have piped up. The reason to add tribal land is not to scatter the tribe around like the witches monkeys scattered the scarecrow.

It's already underway...U.N. Agenda 21+++.

Reduce global population to 500,000,000-half a billion...by any and all means.

Hello?...

(72 'scheduled' 'vaccines' from newborn to 18.) (Chemtrails)(Weather manipulation/intensification)(Total corruption of most govt's) (Breakdown of family/community) (Criminalization of self-defense)(Expanding wars)

(mRNA and other poisons in food, water, air) (Constant 'media terrorism' and gaslighting.)(Massive substance abuse and associated violence and death and social disruption)

Seal off most areas to allow nature to reclaim it.

15 Minute Cities where you will do as you're told or pay whatever consequence is decided for you.

If you are one of the elite bloodlines... then it's gravy after that.

Paradise.

I probably missed a few but...

This is how 'they' are solving the problems!

Not making it up...do your research.🧐

Is it possible to 'turn things around?' Anything is possible but IMO it's unlikely...cycles of boom and bust are in all of nature and we aren't exempt!🤪
